Pain.
His body was itching.
His head hurt.
He tried his best to open his eyes.
Dib gasped from his sleep, he touched every part of his face, he was awake, he was fine.
Right?
He gazed around as he tried hard to get his breath under control, it's his room, his room.
Not a green house.
This must be a dream.
A damn nightmare.
But, when he did fall asleep?
Did he take his pills?
His glasses were on the table, he was still wearing his trench coat, the window was open.
Sliding his glasses on, he looked down, this time, no blood on his shirt, he sighed, thank god, he didn't hurt anyone.
His wrist itched slightly, the bandages were a little too tight.
He gazed at them, and touched the fabric of the bandages, they were thick.
But wait...
Dib's eyes snapped open. They didn't have bandages in their house, and he didn't use any for his cut.
His hand traveled to his cheeks.
He felt the other bandage, it was as thick. No, that one was different, they don't have one like that at their home.
The boy jumped panicking to the bathroom, he slid the door shut, and gazed at himself in the mirror.
He looked fine. Well, besides everything else...
He was sure what happened was never a dream or his illness, the bandages prove everything.
And to be sure, he took a pill, drank a lot of water so he would swallow much faster, then waited.
Some things turned to their usual color, a sign that everything now was real.
He opened the bandages, slowly.
And there, he could see it, the green thick liquid, that's never something humans put on their cuts.
And speaking of the cut...
It was almost healed.
That was fast, too fast for humans medicines.
That means...
His friend was just an... what was he anyway?
He can't be a vampire... maybe.
Not a werewolf.
Not a bigfoot.
He had advanced technology,
So that means...
His friend was an alien!
An Alien!
Oh, the dummy is awake.
'Were you mad!?'
You told me to prove i had control.
'I said no such thing!'
Oh, but you did.
'What now then?'
I don't know...
'Get any thoughts of talking to that thing again! You should tell someone about him!'
Yeah? So he'll tell everyone about me!? Look who's insane now!??
'You're late for school by the way.'
What?
Dib walked out and to his room, he looked at the alarm clock,
"Shit-"
He was late!
Dib washed his teeth as fast as he could and got his backpack.
His sister wasn't home.
Never thinking twice, he ran out of the door and to his school.
--
he got there just in time when the bell rang, all students walked into school from the playground.
He sighed and tried breathing as he walked to the main door as well.
"You're late."
A voice made his insides turn, he snapped his head to the right where the sound was coming, and took a quick step back as he saw who it was.
Zim smiled sweetly at him.
Dib swallowed, all the fear he had came crawling to him once again, words failed him.
The alien got closer, Dib stepped back.
"You okay?" Zim asked as if he knew NOTHING about what happened, his face held worried expressions.
The fresh morning air felt like poison in Dib's lungs, hands and body shaking, eyes locked with the figure in front of him.
He opened his mouth then shut it, no words came out, he had no idea what to say.
Zim frowned more, he sighed, "see you in class then," he turned to walk to the door, waving a slow hand, "nice choker by the way."
The boy looked at him as he walked, a hand drew to his neck.
Choker...?
He used to wear one last year, but the boys kept saying he looked so feminine, and his whole trench coat was just an excuse because it looked like a dress for some reason.
So he stopped wearing any chokers.
He almost gasped at the feeling on his neck, there was a choker in there, it was heavy, made of some kind of smooth metal, it was soft, and...
It was attached to his skin.
Panic rose yet again to him as he tried taking it off, it was impossible.
He ran in the door and to the hallway, then inside the bathroom, he knew he was late, but whatever was on his neck, it was suffocating him in a way he could never explain, as if the thing was not only attached to his skin, but also to his bones.
He pressed his nails around the collar, and tried his best not to take skin with it, he pulled as hard as he could ever, and immediately regret it as pain ran down his body, as if he was pulling his veins out.
Tears gathering in his tired eyes, harsh and fast breath filled the quiet bathroom, cleaning liquid smelled like rotten animals.
Taking the choker off was impossible.
He rested his hands on the sink edges, face down looking at his boots, what nightmare had he got himself into?
"I'm late..." he whispered to himself,
He dried the tears with his sleeve and headed to his class.
--
"You're late membrane!" His annoying teacher voice said when walked in class,
"My alarm didn't go off." He said, gazing at Zim who paid him no mind and kept doodling on his book.
"He's lying! I saw him in the playground before the bell!" One of the boys in class pointed out,
Dib gazed hard at him, the boy smirked and whispered to his friends.
The teacher sighed, "agh, just take your seat!"
Dib rolled his eyes and sat down, his gaze never leaving the alien.
The sweet yet blank expressions Zim had were replaced with hatred, he looked back at the back seats, where the letter M, the same boy who talked earlier, was setting.
Dark expressions, hatred, the pencil in his hand almost snap broken.
Dib looked from Zim to M, the boy was still talking to his friends, ignoring the teacher, and Zim was also ignoring him, he didn't like the whole thing at all.
He kept touching the choker every now and then, eyes from the window to the teacher, then at Zim who seemed smiling to himself, his legs moved back and forth.
The class went by.
--
It was finally lunchtime.
Oh, and Dib was NOT excited for it.
The kids ran out of the door with their lunch or money, some either holding each other hands, or with friends, and some were lonely freaks who actually hang out with other lonely people,
This leaves Dib to be the lonely one of all.
Even Zim seemed to walk out,
He didn't know if that was good or not, even though the alien was a damn murderer and this whole choker thing was because of him, Dib still liked his company...
He walked to the playground, this time no bullies to block his way, the usual whispers fill the air as he walked.
Then he heard something, people screaming, repeating words.
"FIGHT. FIGHT. FIGHT!" It echoed through the hallway,
He speeded his pace and made it outside, just in time to see his 'friend' right above another student, he bunched, and bunched, and bunched.
Blood all over his hands.
He laughed, eyes wide with horrifying expressions.
The boy underneath him was still, he seemed lifeless.
When he was done, he stood and held the boy with his two sharp hands then tossed him at a blond girl.
Dib recognized the two, they were M from his class, and Sara, the girl that always spat bullshit about him in school.
Zim gazed at them, his eyes shining, the smile was now just sweet and blank, he pointed at the girl,
"She did it."
And just like that, as if he had the ability to control their minds, everyone looked at her, at Sara.
They screamed and yelled for such a thing, the two were actually friends.
The girl fell to the ground crying, her bloody friend in her lap.
Teachers came running at the sound.
Some held the girl in place.
And some called the nurse.
Zim just walked to the doors, exactly where Dib was standing, he was too still as he gazed.
"Oh, just in time!" He said happily and waved a hand, then all of the sudden, he hugged the boy,
The alien was hugging him.
Dib gasped at the sudden attention, hands never touching back.
Then after a second, Zim drew back, his smile only got sweeter, "come, let's go eat."
He held the other's hand and forced him to walk.
--
They both sat at their usual place, never touching their food,
Silence...
"Why did you do that to him?..." Dib finally said, never looking at the other.
"He had no rights to be mean to you." Zim said sweetly, he sounded like he just saved a lost puppy, or helped an old lady, as if he did something good.
Dib stayed quiet, that boy was mean to him, but...
"What's that thing on my neck...?" This time, he tried looking at the purple eyes, no matter how sweet he was acting, those eyes were hiding a lot behind.
"Oh! It's just a small gift!" He giggled, a small blush formed on his pale face, a hand to hide his mouth, he looked like a girl telling rumors about other students to her friends.
"Whatever you want from me, it's not going to happen." He found the strength to say it while gazing at the alien,
The sweetness turned dark.
Too dark.
Dib wanted to drown himself.
"Oh?" He smiled, eyes narrowed, his hands on his cheeks as he gazed, "we'll see about that."
The boy swallowed, then frowned.
Why does everything hates him?
Just when he thought he had a friend...
It all turned out to be a damn psycho alien,
The alien was...
Obsessed...? Dib still didn't get why he wants him. He never think he will...
The day went by.
--
Zim insisted to walk with him because his sister went to the gaming store and left him alone. The alien didn't talk, but sang some random words as he walked, songs in a weird language.
From loud ones, to some lullaby.
It sounded... sweet.
"See you soon." Zim said as he waved a hand to Dib, he laughed slightly and walked away. Dib gazed at him, he stood in the doorway until the other boy was out of sight, then got in.
"Explain this."
Dib almost gasped at the sudden voice, he looked up towards his father, he held his wrist, and took a slow step back.
"What is it?..."
"Your grades are so low in science class!" The man screamed, holding some papers that showed Dib's grades.
Most of them were actually A's...
"But--"
"Silence!" The professor snapped and waved the papers in front of the boy's face, "how can i look at your face when you're having these damn grades!?"
Dib looked at the floor, he held the urge to yell back, and decided to stay quiet as he walked passed his father and to the stairs.
The man shifted his hand to snap the boy back in place, "You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"
"No." That all Dib could answer with, he wasn't lying, how could he focus in a class that only reminded him of his abusive father?...
"Stop lying to me!" He held the other by the cheeks so he would look at him, Dib looked at the ground for a moment then his eyes traveled to gaze hard at his dad.
"I'm not. Lying. To you!" His gaze only got darker with every word he said, he freed himself from the tight grab and ran upstairs to his room.
He slammed the door shut, whatever was on his tables fell on the ground.
The room was dark as always.
Dark and suffocating.
There was some blood in one of the corners.
The same corner he set at when he...
Dib threw his pack on the floor and walked to his bed, He looked at it for a moment, he was damn tired, but not actually sleepy. So he just sat there, in the corner, gazing at nothing as he slowly counted...
His eyes slowly closing, sleep came to him, what was better for escaping your reality than sleeping?
He wished he could sleep forever...
XXX
"Again."
The scream fill the room where scientists only watched.
"Higher."
His tears ran down his pale cheeks as he struggled to free himself.
He was laid still on a hard table in the middle of a white room where scientists, including his father, watched.
The room was bright in the middle, but at the edges, it was so hard to see other scientists faces.
It was freezing, his hairs stood high, sweat ran down his forehead, the place smelled like acid liquid, or maybe burned skin.
He could feel the metal as he held tight to the table, his nails tagged as he screamed in pain, more and more tears wetted his face.
He wanted to tell them he was okay, he wasn't insane, he just liked the paranormal, what was wrong with that!? But the cloth-looking thing they put in his mouth stopped his words but never his painful muffled scream.
The tall scientist stood right above him, he was holding a metallic round thing, electricity ran in it, he rose the electricity higher, and leaned down to press it on the boy's forehead sides.
Pain.
All he could feel was pain.
Everyday,
They never left him alone.
They never believed him.
And just the image of his father, standing there, whispering something, then gazing again at him as if he was some comedian show, hurt him more.
He was hurt mentally and physically...
He was broken.
They ruined him.
After the horrifying tests, they would throw him back to his suffocating white room,
They would leave him there, all alone.
He either would cry or sleep.
Long nights...
Every passing hour, he felt like becoming another person.
And that only made the 'illness' talk to him, argue, scream, and laugh at him,
It could even take control...
Yes,
He was broken, and he'll never be fixed.
XXX
"Dib?"
A voice woke him up, he snapped his eyes towards the window, and there he was.
Dib shivered and leaned away in his bed.
Purple eyes too close to his amber ones.
He swore he saw something get inside the alien's pack, he also heard it, a hiss, like a machine hiss.
"You look... scared?" Zim asked as he sat down in the bed, his hand slowly moving towards the other face.
"Why are you here...?" Dib asked, he leaned back more to avoid the sharp hand.
Zim frowned at the question, "You're not happy to see Zi- me?" His hand lowered and rested on the sheets,
Dib touched his choker, swallowing, he could feel it attached deep inside.
The alien just sat there, gazing blankly if not with a worried face, his finger drew slowly on the fabric, "i'm bored," He finally said, "let's go somewhere."
Dib just shook his head, "i don't wanna go..." he hoped his head will stay in place after saying this, but he only got a dark smile,
"I don't think you have a choice..." He pointed at his neck, eyes narrowed, "you truly don't wanna know what it does, because i assure you, it won't be nice..."
The boy swallowed again, and thought what's the possibility it could kill him.
"Wh- what does it do...?" He asked, his hand held tight to his neck,
Zim played with his hand as he gazed at his 'nails' then licked his lips, "i made it, it... sends reeeeal strong electricity to your small body," he smiled at his words and at the image of a fried human, Gir won't hesitate to eat it-
To say the least... Dib wanted to jump off of a building.
His eyes were wide, mouth hanging, he remembered the scientists and doctors attaching their metal tools to his head, he still could feel the electric shocks in his mind.
His breath harsh, The air became cold, his hairs stood high up, he shook his head again, there was a bitter taste in the back of his throat, "please don't..." he begged, closing his eyes shut,
He then felt something in his face, the same sharp hand crawled to his cheek, Zim drew closer, too close, he could feel his breath, "i won't..." he looked at his lap then back to the boy's face, "only if you obeyed me."
Dib opened his eyes slowly to gaze at the other, Zim had a small smile on his face, his hand moved slowly from his ears to his chin, then it traveled down to his hand and pulled the boy closer,
"Come with me." Zim said, eyes narrowed, "i know a good place..." and with those words, he backed away to the window, "i'll be waiting down there, don't let anyone see you."
Dib watched Zim jumped from his window, he leaned fast to see him already on the ground, that was too fast, too smooth.
The alien waved a hand to him.
They gazed at each other for a second before Dib could get his pills and knife, then climbed down his window.
Zim smiled sweetly at him.
It was getting dark.
--
They both walked, Gir in his green dog suit walked beside his master, on both legs. Dib wanted to slap anyone who thought the dog was too good and cute looking.
"We're here!" Zim said happily as he pointed at a bar.
A so familiar bar.
He gazed at it, why this bar!?
"I hate this place." Zim frowned, and tabbed his foot on the ground, "and i know you hate it as well."
Dib could see the other gaze at him from the corner of his eye,
"I know something happened here, but sadly i have no details," Zim walked to the door, they both could hear music inside,
"Wh- why are we here...?" Dib froze in place at the building before him,
"To have fun! Now come." He snatched the boy's wrist and lead him inside.
The place was slightly dark with neon colors here and there, people playing crazy games, some were drunk, sleeping on the tables, people chatting with some hot girls, smoking, laughing, dragging others to a room-
Dib felt sick, he wanted to vomit so badly, the place smelled like rotten food, the air was suffocating from the smoke, and the lights made him blind, He wondered why the hell Zim wanted to be in such a place.
"Here." Zim gave him something, he gazed at it and almost gasped,
It was a weapon.
A gun-looking weapon, it was heavy, and weird shaped, smooth, and red, it had the same symbol he saw in Zim's clothes and his 'dog' antenna.
"Wha—?" He looked at Zim with a shocked expression, as if he was saying 'i can't do such a thing!'
"When i count to three."
"What makes you sure i won't shot you?" Dib asked, he really wanted to do so.
The alien gazed at him blankly then let out a forced laugh, "it won't shot if it was aimed at me! You think i'm THAT stupid?" His laugh was enough to get some people attention, two men looked at them, they whispered, Dib felt his heart skip a beat, he knew these two men.
Then they called someone from behind, a man answered with his sharp voice,
"No...-" Dib took a step back, eyes wide,
A man with a white eye walked to the other two men, he asked something, they pointed at him.
They made eye contact.
Memories rushed through his head-
XXX
"Hey girl~" a man leaned down close to him, another person held him in place in his seat by the shoulders, He drew his hand in Dib's knee, the other hand on his hip,
"I'M NOT A GIRL!!" He yelled, the men were melting, the only thing that made him come in such a place was his stupid illness, he literally thought it was a library!
The man laughed, "you think i'm blind?~"
The boy was wearing a choker, earrings, and his trench coat did look like a dress, but that has nothing to do with being a girl.
The man got closer.
His hand drew to his thighs, and the one on his hip traveled upwards, Dib had the thought that even if they discovered he was a boy, they won't leave him.
The hands never stopped.
Upwards.
The man's face got closer to his. He could hear people laughing at him.
Upwards.
Gross lips almost touching his. Dib had enough. He was not going to be touched like that.
The illness took control.
His hand shifted to his pocket, he held his small knife in hand, "i said I'M NOT A GIRL!!" He stabbed the man in the eye, blood rushed to his face, he drew back,
Dib held tight to his knife, then took it out of the other's skull, blood blinded his glasses. He felt the hands that held him loosen, so he took the opportunity and jumped from the seat, People around him screamed, the man was collapsing on the floor, his blood everywhere.
Someone started calling the police.
Two men gazed hard at him.
Dib looked around at the panicking people, his hand shaking, he took slow steps back, then started running out, he pushed through the doors and to the streets.
The place was cold, he was shaking, his legs were heavy.
He looked behind, and gasped when he saw the two men running behind him, one had a gun in his hand. Dib tried to run faster, he panted, every now and then he would look behind, but they didn't seem to let go and only got closer.
He knew he was losing.
He could hear them swearing at him.
His heart beating so fast.
He forced his blank mind to think of a way to escape, his eyes looking around, he wanted anything to use, anything to be safe.
A faraway bridge came into view,
He could jump in the water!
'Are you insane!? That water should be freezing by this hour!'
Tell me something better to do!!
He shook his head, it was his only chance.
His paces became slower as his body got tired, feet collapsing in front of the other, his hands felt like noodles, lunges burning from the cold air, his pale face became paler if that's even possible.
He finally made it, his hands shaking on his knees, he tried gathering his breath,
"HEY!!!" One of the men screamed, his voice was too close, it made the boy shiver, he couldn't have second thoughts before he jumped,
He wished,
He really wished he'll jump on something hard, maybe his neck will break. But damn his luck he had to jump into water.
It was freezing, dirty, and dark.
He could hear the men yelling and talking, then he heard cars, police cars. Everything was muffled under the water, he tried swimming, but couldn't see much, he decided to follow his luck. So he swam to where he thought sand was, or whatever was there, He was shaking, shivering, his wet skin fighting with the cold air, his legs tried not to give up on him.
breathing hurt, walking hurt, his head hurt.
Why does it have to be him?
W h y ?
XXX
"You..." the angry man pointed at Dib, he pushed anyone in front of him as he walked towards the boy,
Dib stepped back, the gun in his hands loosened.
"Three."
A gunshot echoed in the place as Zim shot at a man sitting on a table, the bullet went through his head, right between his eyes,
"Gir, the place is secured, right? No one can get out?" He asked his small robot,
"Hm-mm," Gir hummed his 'yes'
"Good." He shot another person, his laugh was loud as his gun aimed at anyone he saw.
The man with the white eye ignored everything, his only target was the boy. Dib tried thinking fast, he looked at the gun, and aimed blindly at where the man was coming from.
He held the trigger, and shot.
A glass broke from behind, the man didn't stop to even look. The gun loaded another bullet automatically. Dib shot again, it didn't hit the man.
He took another step back.
Zim just gazed at him with an unimpressed look.
"Lemme show you how..." he walked to the boy, his hand shifted around the other's neck, he held the gun above Dib's hands, "you aim the sharp point at your target..." he moved the gun at someone, "you make sure it's right where you want it, and you keep the gun close to your face..."
Dib's face was red as Zim spoke right beside his ear, he looked where the gun was aiming,
"Then you press the trigger slightly while holding the gun tight." He shot, it hit the person right in his forehead, "see!" He drew back, a smile on his face as he killed someone else, Zim saw a half-naked girl run from one of the rooms, she screamed, it made his antenna twitch at the high pitch, "i thought you humans hide that area of your body." He aimed at her chest, "gross." He shot, the bullet got in her chest, right where her heart should be,
"If you're not gonna hide it with clothes, then i'll hide it with your own blood." Said Zim happily, a sweet smile on his face, he saw Gir jumped around at the shattered blood everywhere,
Zim kept shooting.
"Look who's back..." the man said as he got closer to Dib, "did you come to end what you started little girl?" He smirked, and looked down at the boy's body, Dib felt uncomfortable by his gaze so he stood a little higher, he tighten his grip on the gun, aimed at the man's chest, one eye closed as the other focused.
"Come to daddy~"
That word made volcano anger rise inside the boy's head, he shifted his weight on the other leg, "I'M. NOT. A DAMN. GIRL!"
He shot.
The bullet hit right where it should, the man screamed in pain and fell to the ground, blood ruined his white shirt, the sight was familiar.
Zim gazed at him, his smile grow wide, sharp teeth shining, he left his targets and walked to the boy again, "that's what i'm talking about!" He said as he drew a finger on the boy's cheek, Dib panted slightly, he gazed from the lifeless man on the floor, to the purple eyes that looked back at him,
That was fun...
'Don't!'
He stayed quiet.
"Are we done here?" Zim asked, he looked around, the place was so much red, blood everywhere, dead bodies on the floor, the tables, collapsed at each other.
Gir was wetting his hand with blood then drew some smiling faces on the walls. "I'll take that as a yes." He said as he gazed at his happy robot. "But one thing before we leave..."
Gir jumped in his master's arms when he heard him talk, he giggled and looked at the human, he knew what his master said meant, he was used to it.
Zim held another weapon, it was round, made of metal, "did you put gas everywhere like i told you?"
"Yeah!" Gir answered,
Zim leaned closer to Dib, he drew his hand around the other's hips, and held him tight around him as he threw the ball in his hand.
Dib wanted to push him away but the explosion before him made him hold tight to the other, his legs were high now from the floor, he heard something metallic, he yelped.
They made it outside, Dib looked at the floor to see his legs hanging, around him were some kind of spider-looking legs, they were metallic, sharp, and fast.
His grip tightened, he gazed back at Zim who was looking at the building, he shifted the boy in his hand, then the legs started running, Dib was scared to death when he heard more explosions in the place, police cars gathering around, people screaming, thick and black smoke rose high in the night sky. He gazed through the alien's shoulder, eyes wide, both his legs and Zim's were hanging as the metallic ones ran out.
Then it climbed a tall building, Dib screamed at the sudden change, he felt dizzy and tried holding the urge to vomit,
Zim laughed at him.
They made it to the third floor, at the top of the small hotel. Zim let go of Gir, and loosened his grip at the boy who doesn't seem to notice that they made it to the top.
"Too scared of heights?" He laughed.
Dib opened his eyes slowly, he looked around, they were at some building's roof.
"A perfect view!" Zim points with both hands at the burning bar, a proud smile on his face. Dib slowly turned around to look at it, it was something that held breath, the flames in the cold and dark night, it wasn't scary but rather, warm...
It made him want to look at it all night.
Zim held the two guns and handed them to his PAK arms, it snatched it from him and smoothly drew back inside,
And that was another breathtaking sight.
The whole thought that he was held by an alien who walked on metallic spider-looking legs and claimed a damn hotel was something he'll never admit was amazing.
Gir giggled, "i have colors on my face !" He pointed at his green dog face, his fur was fall of blood.
"What a mess." Zim sat down on the ground and moved his fingers for Gir to come, the robot walked to him with a goofy smile, Zim pressed his neck belt to reveal the metallic robot, his metal was covered with blood,
A towel came from the alien's PAK, he held it and cleaned the small robot's face, Gir giggled more.
When he was done, the robot got out a lollipop and start licking it as he hummed some random songs, Dib actually recognized the lullaby he hummed, it was the same he heard Zim sing when they walk together.
The alien looked at him, "you're a mess as well." He said as he walked to the boy,
Dib shook his head and walked back, his back hit the edge of the roof, he was trapped,
"Quite being a smeet!" Zim yelled at him, but not in a rude way, Dib would have been wondering what a 'smeet' was if Zim stopped getting closer.
He came to a point where he stopped.
The towel touched his bloodied face, it was gentle and soft, the alien cleaned what blood was left, from the human's face and his hands, He put the towel back in his PAK after he wiped the blood from his face as well. He sighed and leaned on the roof edge to gaze at the burning building.
His hand shifted to play with his invisible antenna,
Dib watched in silence, he saw how the other played with the air, or was it the air? He focused his eyes to actually see something between the others hand, And without thinking, he walked slowly and held into the others invisible antenna,
The boy jerked back when he actually felt something, he blinked in surprise. Zim almost gasped, he slowly turned his head to look at the other.
"Wh- what is that?" Dib said as he played with his hand, remembering the feeling of whatever he touched,
"...that was my antenna, stupid." He said slowly as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Your what...?"
Zim blinked at him, he frowned slightly and turned to look at the building avoiding the question,
Silence...
"Why don't you show yourself?..." Dib asked him, he walked to the edge as well and looked at the cars,
"You don't trust me, so i won't show you." He said with a flat voice.
"How do you expect me to trust you??..."
Zim didn't reply, More silence, the night became colder.
"I could have left you in that explosion..." Zim broke the silence this time, his finger drew on the edge, "i could have just ran away, and left you to die."
"Then why am i here, alive?"
Zim finally made eye contact with the other, his gaze was slightly sad, "Because... i want you to be mine."
"How do you expect me to trust you when you're controlling me with a choker?" Dib asked, avoiding the whole 'be mine' conversation.
Zim yet again didn't answer.
"You can't trust me anyway..." Dib said, he hugged himself tight, The alien was about to say something but Dib spoke again, "i could kill you, the illness would kill you..."
Zim laughed and walked to him, he drew his hands on the boy's shoulders, "time to go."
Dib didn't like being ignored at something important like that, but even so, he was used to it. Gir jumped in his master's chest, Zim held Dib just like before.
This time, Dib got the chance to see the spider legs, they came out smoothly from his pack, too sharp, he held tight into Zim, and refused to look down as they climbed.
Zim walked them both with his PAK legs till they reached their neighborhood.
--
Dib got to his house, it was late at night. He saw Zim wave a hand to him before he walked away. As always, the door was closed, so he climbed up his window, When he got it, it was just in time for him to realize he hadn't eaten anything since school, He got out a snack from his drawer, and sat on his bed, he opened his laptop to scroll through his messages,
Nothing of course.
He saw an old message from the swollen eyeball network.
It was so very old.
He knew what was in it. It was his signing off.
When they knew about his illness, when he kept sending fails photos, and kept ranting nonsense, they grew tired. So, they fired him.
Dib sighed and closed the laptop. He tossed it aside his table and leaned down in his pillow, he gazed at his ceiling.
'What are you thinking?'
Be quiet.
'I asked, answer me.'
About him, about me, everything.
'About HIM?!'
Yes.
'I can't believe you.'
I think-
'Never say that.'
It's the truth...
'It's not, go take your pills.'
Shut up.
Dib took his coat off and got under the sheets, he drew letters with his finger,
And hummed.
A slow yet sweet lullaby, with it weird language, even though he didn't get what it says-
Then stopped,
He realized it was the same Zim had been humming all the time.
'Moron...'
He squeezed his eyes and forced sleep to take him away.
