Stone Cold Heart
(Another 2 years have passed— 3 altogether.)
'It's a sad day for Boxing fans, Natsu 'Salamander' Dragneel has failed to attend his match against Sting 'White Dragon' Eucliffe.'
'Turn that shit off,'
'It seems Salamander's downfall may be sooner than we think,—'
'Zeref.' I hissed,
'— one things for sure, if he'd lay-0ff the alcohol he might actually have a decent comeback.'
The TV shattered, 'what the fuck?' Zeref sat motionless on my designer couch.
'I told you to turn that shit off.' I spat, the glass I chunked at the flat screen left my hand without a single regret.
'Tsk, you don't have to destroy shit.' He sighed, 'I don't know how much more of this we can take.'
'Zeref, don't start with this shit,'
'For fuck's sake,' he stood from the couch, 'if you miss another match, we'll have the ABC on our ass.'
'I don't have time for this shit,' I walked past him and toward the door.
'You always do this shit, Natsu.' Zeref complained.
I held out my arms, 'do what? I said without missing a beat.
'Run,'
I scoffed, 'bullshit.'
'You run off and drink your problems away.' He accused. 'That's why you missed the first match, right?' He spat, 'you were so hung over you couldn't stand on your own two feet!'
My jaw clenched, 'are you happy now?' I said bitterly, 'it's not my fault you're not as great as me!' I threw in his face, I know my brother cares for me, but I also know he's resentful towards me.
He released a dry laugh, 'that's what you think?'
'Surprised me too.'
We stood toe to toe, I smirked at his conviction. It'd be a good ass match but I don't want to put hands on my brother, not in anger.
'I'd never want to be you, Natsu.' Malice dripped from his voice, 'Why would I want to be an alcoholic Boxer with an incurable heartbreak.' His pointer finger stabbed my chest, 'You let a stupid woman get in the way of your career.'
I shoved him in the chest, 'leave her out of this.'
He laughed in my face, 'and yet you still defend her.' He made it sound so hard to believe.
'Her cunt must be made of gold,' anger bled into my eyes.
A solid-right hand in the jaw, my body reacted and I didn't regret it. The force knocked him to the ground— My chest heaved as adrenaline rushed through me.
'Don't talk about her like that.' I seethed.
He lightly touched his lip, 'at least you still have it in you.' His blood stained his finger.
'Fuck you, Zeref.' The aggression lifted when I realized what I've done.
I grabbed my leather jacket and slammed my front door on the way out.
I held a cigarette in between my lips, as I kneeled before his grave. There's clean-cut grass and different flowers adding color to a grey-filled space.
I sighed in guilt, 'I didn't mean to punch him.' I lit a match and bought it toward my cigarette.
I inhaled deeply, 'but he pushed me.'
'Never lay hands on each other. You're brothers.'
His sentimental words drifted through my mind, we were merely boys when he broke-up our first altercation.
That brought on a whole different speech about how we are each other's biggest supporters. We are team, we have each other's backs.
As of lately, we've been bumping heads. 'I don't know what's going on,' smoke passed through my lips.
'It's just—' I shook my head in frustration. 'I don't know.'
I inhaled once more before putting out the cigarette and pulled a silver flask from my coat pocket.
'I miss you, dad.' I cheered up to the sky before taking a long needed drink.
'Back for more I see,' Sparkly blue-eyes caught me as soon as I walked in.
'Best drinks in town,' I smirked.
Lisanna walked toward me and kissed me hard on the mouth. 'Hey baby,' she practically purred.
I inwardly cringed, Lisanna's nice but I don't do the whole pet names.
Not anymore.
'Hey you,' Mirajane came through the swinging door behind the counter.
'Sup, Mira how are ya?' I wavered at her as Lisanna wrapped her arm around mine.
'Eh, can't complain.' Mirajane shrugged before tying an apron around her waist. 'The usual?'
I scratched at my head, 'uh yeah.'
'I'll do it,' Lisanna offered with a pep in her step.
I took a seat at the bar, it's almost 7 p.m. and the rush was about to begin. I found Fairy Tale on a drunken whim, it's got a rowdy crowd, good drinks and than there's Lisanna.
She's difficult, I didn't intend to start any sort of relationship with her but, it was nice not being lonely all the time.
I know that sort of makes me a huge bastard, but— I'd tell her eventually.
'Here you are,' Lisanna's eyes shined.
'Thanks,' she winked at me before helping Mirajane with the bar.
'Chug.'
'Chug.'
'Chug.'
The drunken crowd cheered, 'You can't out drink me brat,' Cana slurred.
The room spun slightly as I slammed down the glass, 'fuck.' I groaned, 'you're not human,'
Cana laughed loudly, 'I could say the same to you, the way you fight is vicious.'
I smirked, 'I guess we have our talents.' The crowd thinned out as we shared another round before a voice broke through,
'Salamander is nothing more than a fraud!' The rough voice made my blood boil. The glass cracked in my hand as his boots approached me from behind.
The crowd fell quiet, 'Aren't that right?'
I pushed the stool out from under me, 'fuck you Gajeel.' I spat as I stood to face him.
'This is where you're been hiding?'
'Hiding?' I mocked, 'last time I checked I beat your face in.'
Gajeel scoffed, 'you had a lucky hit.'
'You couldn't keep up,' I boasted.
'Bet I could now,' His ruby red eyes held mine, 'you haven't been in the ring in months.'
I gritted my teeth, 'too busy getting wasted in this shit-filled place.'
'I'd watch what you say, bastard.'
'Or what?' He challenged, his chest an inch from mine.
'I'll beat your ass to the fucking ground,' I promised. I've fought Gajeel before, it may have been during my rookie days but we've always disliked one another.
'Stop!' Lisanna fought her way through, 'Natsu don't.' Her wide blue-eyes full of fear.
Gajeel chuckled, 'really Salamander? This brings back old memories.'
My heart pumped fiercely in my chest, 'Lisanna stay out of this.'
'I can't believe you're going to let another little bitch fight your battles,'
'Shut the hell up,' my fists balled together tightly.
'Natsu please,' Lisanna cried.
''Fucking pathetic, first the blonde bitch and now this pale-looking broad.'
My fist caught him in temple and he stumbled, our eyes locked before he lunged at me, tackling me to the ground.
The crowd erupted in mixture of cheers and cries— we wrestled to the ground for a brief moment before I caught a hit to my cheek.
I aimed my fist toward his nose and he fell back enough for me to scramble to my knees. I grabbed Gajeel by the collar and punched him again and again, until I was being pulled off.
'Get the fuck off,' I fought against the person.
'You're under arrest Dragneel.' The officer helped me up and slapped on a pair of handcuffs.
All the adrenaline left my body, when I saw the flashing red and blue lights outside the window.
'Fuck,' my shoulders slumped and the side of my cheek throbbed.
The officer walked me through the Bar and pushed me up against the police car as he checked my pockets, a crowd of people stood on the sidewalk.
Watching with their phones.
Zeref was going to murder me.
The officer placed me in the back of the car, Lisanna's eyes filled with tears as she stood back before slowly approaching the window.
'Can you roll it down for a sec?' It was a long shot but I felt guilty for ignoring her.
The officer sighed but rolled the window down enough, 'I'm sorry about all of this.'
She sniffed, 'why didn't you listen to me?'
Because I couldn't see you.
'I was angry,' I said.
She wiped her tears, 'who was he talking about?'
I was hoping she wouldn't have caught that. That little snide remark.
'I don't know who he was talking about,'
Her lips pulled into a frown, 'stand back ma'am,' the officer stood between Lisanna and the window.
'Time's up, Dragneel.'
I'm so glad someone finally asked about the letter! I haven't forgotten, we just aren't there yet. Also, I'm not all that great with fighting scenes but I'm trying. Thank you for reviews!
