Chapter- 4
Previously -
He brushed his lips against mine and God were they soft.
I stared at him dumbfounded. Apparently, he also realized what he did but instead of being as dumbstruck as me or panicking he just smirked.
His famous signature cocky smirk.
"Later then Granger." He said turning away still having that smirk.
"L-Later." I said and then cursed at myself for stammering. I was also probably blushing which didn't help with my embarrassment.
I just needed a friend to talk to right now. And luckily, I knew who I had to go.
Present-
"Ginny!" I exclaimed after finally finding her after so long.
She was talking to Luna whom I hadn't seen before.
"Hello Luna," I greeted her pleasantly. Although she was a little odd, I had finally come to accept that not everyone thought the same and that all opinions if not true could be respected as long as they didn't hurt anybody's existence.
She smiled serenely at me.
Ginny looked at me questioningly.
I sighed.
"Boy problems" I said at last tinging a bit when Ginny laughed good-naturedly.
"Is it Draco?" Luna asked.
I nodded not asking her how she knew. It was quite expected that Luna knew what most people didn't.
She nodded to me with a serious expression.
"There have been many nargles around you both, quite more than there used to be."
Ginny smiled at the girl encouraging her to go on.
"I think he likes you, also I think he regrets it a lot."
"Bullying you guys" She replied after I looked at her confused.
An awkward silence followed us when suddenly Luna spoke again.
"Well, I have to go, I promised to meet the thestrals with Neville. Good luck with Draco." She said and started walking away.
"Do you like him?" Ginny asked abruptly.
I nodded.
Ginny sighed.
Something bad was coming. I just knew. Ginny was not like Ron.
Ron would have surely disapproved of Malfoy at first, but Ginny was more understanding, more empathic.
"He's engaged." She said looking down. "To Astoria Greengrass."
"Oh."
"It was arranged between them when he was 12 years old. You know how the old families are like. To ensure the purity of blood, they arrange marriage before the kids are of age." She said in a hurry.
I smiled softly at her.
"Don't worry, I know."
"It's just, I know they both don't like each other that way. I overheard them talking a few days back. They both are trying to get out of the contract. They might get out of the contract but I -"
"You don't want me to have my hopes up high." I completed her sentence.
"It's okay Ginny, I just wanted to talk about my feelings. It's not like I was confessing anyways."
I decided to skip over the kissing part. It could have been an impulsive move on his part.
Ginny nodded.
"You are probably confused."
After a while Ginny spoke again.
"How do you feel after knowing that he is engaged and stuff?" She asked and I could hear the doubt in her voice. The doubt of whether she should have told me or not.
"It's okay, I didn't expect to go far with him with our relationship anyway. I mean you can't always tell how relationships will end can you?"
"You can't but you also cannot give up on them because of a single obstacle." Ginny reminded me.
"If he likes you too then we can help him find his way out of the contract" Ginny said fiercely
I laughed. Ginny was really shy before but she had a major character development during her third and fourth year.
"I'll get going now." Ginny said looking at her watch.
"Yeah, me too. I have patrols tonight."
Oh no
"I have patrols tonight." I said with dread bubbling up inside of me.
"With Draco."
