After maybe an hour dive he had finally got to the military base were they said Toothless was at. So Hayden parked his car and turned it off and got out. Once out he had sure to fix his Uniform and put his hat on. Then he headed to the canine center portion of the base. He was not sure if he should be nervous or excited that he is finally going to see Toothless after so long but he just pushed them feeling aside and kept walking.

(Hayden POV)

When I got to the main building for this military bases canine department I opened the door and walked in. Then when I got inside I was greeted by the receptionist they had for this building.

"Hello how can I help you?"

"Is General Gary in?" I asked

"Yes he is in his room sir"

"Thank you" I said and headed back

Once I got outside of Gary's room I knocked on the doorframe because he had his door open already.

"Haddock?" Gary said a bit surprised

"Yes sir! May I come in?" I asked

"Yes and stop with the sir I told you you are like a son to me." Gary said

"Ya you told be not to get blown up out there because then you may lose me but they who am I to listen." I joked

"Ya I heard you got hit by a IED. But you are a tough kid I knew you would make it. So what you hear for I have not seen you for a long time and I don't think you are here to visit me."

"Ya no sorry I am here to see Toothless. They said he was training here and they never brought him to visit so I have not seen him in about six months."

"They did not bring him to see you?"

"No well not while I was awake anyway they told me when I first got to the hospital a bit after my surgery and stuff they brought him when I was in a coma."

"Well I think he is actually just outside doing some more obstacle training if you want to see him." Gary said while standing up

"Lead the way." I said while following him out the room

"So Hayden did you tell your parents what happen."

"Kinda"

"How did your father take it? Did I mention before that I am pretty sure I went to high school with your father for a year or two."

"Ya I think you said something about it but I did not tell him about the IED yet. I did not get around to it because right went I got around to saying that I joined right out of high school he pulled the 'Had to be the most different and difficult kid in the entire town' and 'almost got yourself killed' cards so I called it a night and went to bed and now well I am here."

"Well if you were my son I would have probably acted the same way. Joining without telling anyone and then not allowing them to be told anyone unless you died."

(Nobody POV)

Once they made it outside to the fenced in training area Hayden could see a couple new dogs working on the basics and some older dogs getting ready to be sent out working on searching. So Gary lead Hayden towards the back corner were a little obstacle course is set up.

You could see another guy trying to work with Toothless. But the key work was trying because it was not going well Toothless was not listening to anything he was saying and was pulling and barking way to much for them to handle. And it only got worse once he saw to figures approaching. The breaking point was went Toothless could make out that one of the figures was Hayden. His true handler not one of these people trying to work him.

So Toothless pulled harder on the leash but so hard that the guy on the other end holding it was sent to the ground flat on his face. Then Toothless could feel there was not more tension one the leash that was trying to hold him back from where he wanted to go so he ran. He ran right up to the person he missed the most. His handler, his best friend. So he jumped up and pushed Hayden right in the chest and to the ground and covered him in slobber.

"Toothless I missed you too but you know that does not was out!" His owner yelled at him

But Toothless did not care he thought he was dead he had not come to see him in so long. And he did not talk to him when they were in that weird building with so many rooms and white wall with people always going by and noise machines.

For Hayden it was joyful to see his partner again but a bit upsetting to see they were still working him. He did not think they would need to keep training Toothless for that long. It had been almost half a year since they told him that they were doing training with him. But he was brought out of his thoughts went something hit his chest and Tackled him down to the ground and started to cover him in slobber.

Once he managed to push the over joyful canine off of himself to sit up Enough to try and get some off the slobber off he looked up to Gary who was just smiling. When he got as must of the slobber he could off he stood up and dusted his pants off.

"How have you been Toothless?" Hayden asked

All the dog did to answer though is he sat down on his back legs and looked up at Hayden with his tongue out. This caused Hayden to give him a pet on the head and rub his hair.

It was a lovely reunion till another guy came out who looked to be one of the higher ranking officer at this base.

"Is that dog listen yet because I want him ready soon he is being shipped out again in under a month." He said coming up to the guy from earlier who was trying to handle Toothless.

He was going to say something back but that is went the higher ranking officer saw Gary and Hayden with the dog he wanted shipping out again.

"General who is he?" The officer asked

"His is Haddock Toothless's old handler the one who got hit by that IED." Gary said

"Right well say you goodbye quickly because I want this dog back in training he is going back to Iraq in three weeks."

"Wait you are shipping him back out?" Hayden asked

"Yes is that a problem with you?"

"Well ya I am his handler should I not get a say in where he goes."

"No because they discharged you from the military right so that mean you are no longer the handler. So you have no say in this anyway they want that dog back out there because he is the best one they got so let him get back to his training." With that said the officer walked off

Toothless new handler came up to Hayden and Gary to grab Toothless's leash and tried to pull him away. But he did not want to go he just got his friend back why would they try and take him away. So he looked up at Hayden with a confused look. Hayden just looked down at him with a irritated and angry look and said

"Don't you worry bud I will not make you go back. I will figure something out."

That was all he said before walking away and heading right into the K-9 building again with Gary right behind him.

"They can't do that can they?" Hayden asked as he Paced back and forth in Gary's office

"Well-" He was cut off as Hayden spoke again

"Is there anything I can stop this. He can not get deployed again. Especially without me you said it yourself you guys were going to retire him from any type of military training went I first met him. You said that he did not listen to anyone else except me."

"I think we can do something to keep him from getting shipped out again. But I just want to say this is the first time I am hearing about this too. I didn't even know they did not bring him to see you when you got out that coma and I am the one that runs the damn training place."

"So what can I do because I am not letting this happen." Hayden said once he stoped pacing about

"Well"
