Author Notes: This chapter mainly goes over the situation that Justiz enforces, the oddness of the world of 4021, introducing the Joestars' names and the entrance of very familiar faces into the conflict. It also leads me into doing my other fanfic, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 8.5- Rainbow In The Dark. That goes over Joan's past.
Plus Chapter 4, related to the unlucky number four, is a good place to hint at the villain's plans.
A TV tropes page has been made for this fanfic, and it would be nice if people contributed. As well as visiting the Nectp Deviantart to check out images related to this fanfic.
The title of this chapter is based on All of the Stars" is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. It is featured over the credits in the 2014 film The Fault in Our Stars. It is inspired by the whole movie, just wanting to be sad, yet euphoric and lift people upwards in their low moments. The film, about a teenager dying of cancer who falls in love with another teen cancer patient, deals with the importance of love in the face of death. The context for this chapter is more about hope in the face of incoming despair.
Chapter 4 Overture-4: All of The Stars
As the group went on their way to Joshua's home, Jonathan was pensive about what Joshua had done in order and how both had been casual about the murder, even if events somewhat justified it. He clenched his fist and forced himself to do nothing as it was wrong to hit a woman or a youth as a gentleman.
Joseph looked around and all of the oddities that the world had somehow adapted to include since his time- there were people with multiple limbs and body parts- resembling asura from Hindu mythos, geriatric folks being especially spry in contrast to their youthful peers, flying cars like in those old sci-fi books he read as a boy- except more streamlined than those goofy models, people with wings on their backs that resembled animals, people standing on round platforms- vanishing and reappearing in entirely different locations, thugs being blocked by spherical, energy barrier when they attempted to rob a highschooler, groups of people that were virtually identical to other with some minor differences, spaceships that oddly resembled planetary spheres, blue holograms of businesspeople at work when peering into the office buildings, etc. It all seemed utopian, but however...
Jotaro noticed that there were dogs with humanoids that were vaguely Stand like patrolling the streets for any crime that was implied to occur every few seconds. In back alleys- people were tearing off a robot's arm just as it regenerated it via nanomachines to be put into piles for some shady deals, people cloning materials and selling them as if they were the original deal to scam customers, cyborgs that resembled important people throughout history being treated like idols despite those cyborgs' obvious distaste of being harassed, and more bizarre sights, such as prehistoric animals, mythological cryptics, androids, cyborgs, demons, people resembling anthropomorphic gods of old, the undead, etc...living on the streets like beggars with the people occasionally glancing at them viewing them with disdain whenever a PA was given by a balding man with lavender hair that ended in points stretching horizontally, shown on a massive monitor hovering above the city.
Josuke noticed that this man wore a red, tacky looking futuristic, skin-tight outfit one might see from the late 1950s, 60s, or 70s, with sections of pink rings surrounding the joints/lengths of the limbs/body- his variation was a business suit with battery shaped bracers, thin coattails ending in magnets, a shirt collar with radioactive symbols, a tie with a lightbulb on it, and slippers with gopher faces. He almost laughed at the absurdity of the sight until he actually heard what was being said.
"Any troublemaker, Player- let's not kid ourselves- Werebeasts, Robots of sapient thought, the Undead, False Gods, etc- though most importantly, Stands not affiliated with the Beliver party, you had over to THE POLICE immediately and also send them to Ms. Nickle Penny's jail where she will commence the proper judgment. If you are of The Pretender, someone not giving you the due respect is of paramount importance due to how much we contribute to society and even God wouldn't object to murdering someone for not showing proper respect if you understand my meaning. Keep those The Specials out of your affairs since we're the future and not those naive believers in falsehoods like integrity and honor. So say Justiz Beliver, the rightful, Eternal Star of the World.," said the with a nasally, youthful, annoying voice that made Josuke want to punch him before turning to see that Giorno was shaking his head. He narrowed his eyes in disgust at the words being spoken being eerily similar to a certain gangster he met before.
Jolyne noticed that Joan was about to destroy the said monitor, with a futuristic gun she implied was always carrying on her person in self-defense until she turned to Joshua. Seemingly due to believing that no one was noticing, he was about to throw up with a panicked expression that seemed unnatural for him.
Joan covered his mouth and gave him a look before they resumed going back home.
The Scotsman and the girl with hands for feet turned around as they thought they saw a purple Saturn-like orb in the sky, but it didn't seem like it was any different from the other, odd planet-shaped ships. They continued onwards before turning again to see that it opened its vertical red-eye- Public Enemy. A humanoid, ghoul emerged from the top of the sphere, D-Flag as a zombified corpse. It was D-Flag that had somehow forced a merger with his Stand to remain in the world as a poltergeist with malign intent to accomplish his unfinished business of tormenting Joshua.
"Must be his Encore...," said the Scotsman in a suitably deep voice as he started to draw his weapon that emitted electricity before the woman stopped him.
"No, I'll handle this.," said the girl as she summoned plant life from the ground, which ensnared the Stand and dragged it into the earth that had opened a crevasse to pull him down, the creature inaudibly screaming as the faint noises of the damned were heard briefly as the crevasse closed.
Before anyone could notice, the matter was settled and they finally got to the lower class area.
While people didn't say anything about the additional Joestars to be polite, certain people went in a direction as if wanting to report something.
Lower Class- Area
The Joestars- Joan and Joshua were greeted with looks of relief or disgust much to the predecessor Joestars' curiosity.
They then entered the house, one side had library books, neatly organized, but covered in larger-than-life iconography of fighters and tournament posters. The other side had simple pictures of a girl along with her friends during the same tournament competition, but set 10 years prior- all the good times, bad times, and embarrassing times- the frames were simple yet ornate- showing immense, personal attachment to these moments.
Other than that, it had a basic kitchen/bedroom/restroom/etc all in the same space with no separation of privacy
Joan spoke to the group.
"That man you saw...The one advocates the right to persecute non-humans and the poor, along with anyone who associates with him. He got his position though-"
"Making you out to be the villain.," Jonathan said reluctantly, which made him think of his youth with a blond man.
Joan nodded.
"What he's doing to the country is vile. Undoing all of the civil rights we made to make peace between all races attainable to achieve corporate profit and worship- though it's not entirely irrational. Most Pretenders would put the needs of themselves in making them the person everyone from the upper and lower class relies on, being the Star of the World gives you the privileges to achieve what you want. These technological advancements in the last ten years are beneficial. So normally killing him would be an act of spite and that of a sore loser bitter on how they lost. Good and evil are based on public perception. To the public masses, he's the second coming of the savior and my group was a bunch of witches. What he's actually planning through his title is what we need to focus on.," she explained with Joshua being quiet.
Everyone was shocked by this revelation to varying degrees.
She then turned to Joshua who had just vomited into the toilet and asked-
"It makes you sick doesn't it?"
Joshua shook his head before Joan grabbed his face.
"I did the same on my first time as well. And it doesn't get easier.," said the mother.
Joshua then cried into his mother's bosom. Giorno and Jonathan were shocked by this sight.
"This is the sort of world we live in. I'm sorry for letting you be born in a world like this.," spoke the mother.
"I shouldn't have been born-," Joshua said.
"No, I should've decided everything then and there before you were conceived. Never allow anyone to say or make you think that you shouldn't have been or. Everyone has a right to exist.," said the mother.
Giorno then asked-
"His Stand...It resembles the one I know from what is likely my time...why is that?"
"It's Multiverse theory- certain events played out so that your King Crimson- Joshua's Stand in your universe was likely one raised with malice while mine in this universe was raised with genuine love. It's all about nurture. My son's ancestor, Diego Brando-," explained the mother.
"He's got Brando blood in him?!," Joseph shouted.
"So have I.," said Giorno, which made everyone aside from the Scotsman, Josuke, and the woman with hands for feet turn in Giorno's direction.
This situation turned tense before Joan spoke-
"The reason I brought you is that Justiz is planning on opening our world to another...which is for all intents and purposes- Hell."
This made the Scotsman speak up for the first time-
"This wouldn't be the work of the Ocean Men would it?" he asked, much to the others' confusion.
This made the dark-haired girl's eyes narrow in response.
"He's a Faust to a Devil and the world will pay if he opens Pandora's Box and let all hell break loose.," said the woman.
Joan nodded.
"Then we need to hurry before he calls aid.," she said.
After a pause, the group introduced themselves.
"It's odd not being able to say our names. My name is Jonathan Joestar- son of George Joestar the I.," said the gentleman.
"Definitely different from our Jonatha.," said Joan.
"I'm Joseph Joestar- George Number Two's kid, his grandson.," said the old man in the fedora to Jonathan's confusion.
"I'm Jotaro Kujo. That old man's grandson and the nice guy's great, great-grandson.," said Jotaro, leading Jonathan into further bewilderment.
"I'm Josuke Higashikata. I'm...Mr. Joseph's illegitimate son was born from a one-night stand. He does care about me though.," said Josuke, with Jonathan giving Joseph a furious look, who lowered his head in shame in response.
"Name seems familiar...," said Joshua.
"I'm Giorno Giovanna. Born Haruno Shiobana. I'm Jonathan's other son via DIO taking over his body to father countless bastards across the globe.," Giorno said candidly. Jonathan went into a state of comatose while Jotaro and Josuke were giving him looks for being so blunt.
"Jolyne Kujo. Jotaro's my pops.," said the girl.
"That name seems nostalgic for some reason.," mumbled the mother.
"And who are they?," Josuke asked noticing the Scotsman and dark-haired girl with hands for feet.
"Joah Joestar- I'm sort of this Jonathan's ancestor.," said the Scotsman to the group in a mellow tone of voice. This shocked Jonathan out of his daze.
"THE Joah. The founder of our clan?! I've always wanted to meet you.," said Jonathan.
"Joy Jozette...I'm all of these Joestars' earliest known ancestor.," said the girl to the group, which confused them immensely.
"What's an Ocean Man?," asked Jotaro.
"A long story.," said Joan.
Undisclosed Location
In a darkened room, Justiz with his green iris eyes looked behind him as a red, Pretenders cloaked individual bowed to him.
"Smothers was killed and his soul made to go to Hell. He won't be able to help as a Posthumous Stand User.," said the figure.
"Good riddance. He was a liability that over-relied on his Stand's power instead of understanding how to explore its strengths and weaknesses.," Justiz said.
"He was only like that due to that Kilin Inzana Moph's influence. We both know the kind of demon he is-," said the figure.
"One that produces results. It's all that matters. Getting people the resources we need for survival is necessary. We need to access time first to control the ability to access the higher planes of space to find the resource to save the planet. No matter how we dirty our hands, this is for the sake of the planet.," said the lavender-haired man as he stood in front of a streamlined machine that resembled Stonehenge.
He pressed the red button in the center, causing the machine to glow and fire a beam into the center from each pillar.
The light dimmed as seven darkened figures emerged from the mist caused by the beam.
"Wrryyyyyyy...," whispered one of the figures.
