A Traitor's Death
It's a starry night, there are a lot of stars out there, a full moon glowed bright, and owl hoots sang the night forest. A grey she-cat with a white chest, paws, belly, eartips, and blue eyes was sitting near the border and was waiting for another cat to arrive. Bushes rattled, the grey she-cat turned around and saw a yellow tom with white stripes, chest, muzzle, and amber eyes come out of the bushes and approach the she-cat. He was staying on his side of the border, but he touched noses with the she-cat and rubbed each other's heads to one another, while staying on their side of the border.
"Hello Rootspring." The she-cat meowed.
"Hi Bristlefrost." He meowed.
"How is everything in Skyclan?" Bristlefrost asked.
"Ohh, I don't know, everything's fine, but I'm concerned about some of my clanmates. I'm worried that some of them may still be the impostor's followers. Since the impostor's been defeated, I thought that they would move on, but…I may have underestimated that." Rootspring explained concerned.
"I'm a bit worried too. I have a feeling that some of my clanmates still have the impostor's views as well." Bristlefrost meowed concerned.
She got on the sandy side of the border and she and Rootspring started walking. It became clear that even with the impostor's defeat, cats still supported his views. Despite how he treated his clanmates, cats somehow still believed that codebreakers should be chased out of their clans; some have even said that they should be killed. Bristlefrost couldn't understand how cats could still listen or follow a cat that had abused and bullied them, surely they would stop and rethink their choices, right? Unfortunately, this wasn't always the case; even if the idea came from a nut job, cats will still take the idea to heart. Bristlefrost and Rootspring walked towards the border between Thunderclan and Windclan and they walked on Thunderclan's side to avoid conflict with Windclan and for problems to arise for Thunderclan. When they were outside the clan's territory, both cats sat down and Bristlefrost laid her head on Rootspring's chest. They have been seeing each other since the impostor was defeated and Bramblestar regained his position as leader, and honestly, Rootspring didn't want this moment to end. Behind them, bushes rattled, but Rootspring and Bristlefrost didn't hear it. Bumblestripe peered from the bushes and he was furious. He leaped at Rootspring and pinned him on his belly, Bristlefrost was shocked and caught off guard.
"Bumblestripe, wh…." She stammered.
"Well, Well, Well, we've got a couple of codebreakers here. We can change that." Bumblestripe sneered.
"Those times have ended, Bumblestripe. The impostor lied to all of us! Codebreakers shouldn't be punished harshly because they broke one little rule!" Bristlefrost argued.
"It doesn't matter, Bristlefrost! You and Rootspring are codebreakers and you need to pay!" Bumblestripe hissed.
Before Bristlefrost could say anything, something hit her in the back of the head. She felt dizzy, her vison was getting blurry, and after a few moments, she collapsed to the ground.
"Bristlefrost!" Rootspring yowled.
Bumblestripe hit Rootspring's head hard and he was soon knocked out. Bumblestripe snickered and looked to see another cat behind Bristlefrost; sharing the same snicker of laughter. Bumblestripe and the other cat picked up the two unconscious cats and carried them into the forest. Throughout the time, Bristlefrost would be barely conscious to see where Bumblestripe was taking them. Her blurry vision could barely make out the forest and the dizziness and pain in her head only knocked Bristlefrost out again. When she came to again, Bristlefrost was a bit better and she looked around. There were cats surrounding her; cats from Windclan, Shadowclan, Riverclan, some of her clanmates from Thunderclan, and even cats from Skyclan. They all looked at her with disgust and some even hissed at her. Bumblestripe stepped forward, gave a smirk at Bristlefrost, then turned around.
"Cats of all clans! Today, we have two new codebreakers to execute." Bumblestripe announced.
Cats cheered as if this was good news to them. Bristlefrost was horrified, is this what the clans could've became if they hadn't stopped the impostor?
"These two cats have committed a serious crime, falling in love when they're in two different clans." Bumblestripe sneered.
Cats yowled their hatred and disgust. Bristlefrost perked when she heard another cat groan behind her. She realized that she was tied up and that she wouldn't be able to break free. The position of the stick was upright and Bristlefrost and Rootspring were tied as if they were standing on their hind legs. The prickly vines that tied them were too tight, so cutting it wouldn't work either.
"B-Bristlefrost?" Rootspring groaned.
"Rootspring, are you alright?" she asked worried.
"Yeah, a little bit. What's going on?" he asked.
"It's Bumblestripe, he's betrayed Thunderclan." Bristlefrost growled.
"I DIDN'T BETRAY THUNDERCLAN! You did, with your love to a Skyclan cat." Bumblestripe snapped.
"You're all betraying your clans just by being here and doing nothing, we're clan cats, not savages!" Rootspring yowled.
Bristlefrost looked around, mostly all of the cats still had a look of hatred and disgust on their faces, but some were contemplating on Bristlefrost's words. Bristlefrost hoped that they would realize that this was wrong and would run to get help or try to talk down the crowd. Unfortunately, if they were, they were sure hiding their fear. Bumblestripe raised his head high and looked like he was proud of something.
"Now, this is our first execution, but there will be many more, until the clans accept our new rules." He meowed with pride.
"So you're going to kill every cat that broke one little rule? You know very well that this makes you bad as us, right?" Bristlefrost questioned.
"At least I'm not sneaking out to meet a cat from another clan. You and the rest of your kind will burn, speaking of burn." Bumblestripe growled.
Two cats walked to the stick; each one was holding small sticks ignited with fire. Bristlefrost looked down and saw that the bottom of the stick was covered with a pile of grass, sticks, and flowers and realized that they were going to burn her and Rootspring alive. Bumblestripe looked at Bristlefrost with a sinister smile.
"As punishment for breaking the warrior code, you shall be sentenced to death, BURN THEM!" he yowled.
The two cats ignited the pile and fire quickly spread all over the pile and quickly spread to the stick. Smoke rose as the fire spread towards Bristlefrost and Rootspring and while it didn't start burning them, it was getting close to that point. Finally, the fire was getting dangerously close to their feet and it started burning their paws. Bristlefrost screamed in pain, terror, and agony and Rootspring would've screamed too if he wasn't choking on the smoke. Soon, both cats started suffocating from the smoke and the fire soon started to burn their bodies. By now, both cats were dead; died from the burn wounds and smoke inhalation. The crowd of cats cheered as the fire ingulfed their bodies; some had the look of evil in their eyes and others looked away, too ashamed or too scared to look at the sight. Bumblestripe smiled sinisterly, he had never thought that this would so much fun, and this was only the beginning. Soon, the clans would realize that danger and death would soon run the forest of blood.
