Harry woke up eagerly the next morning, it was quite early compared to his last time in the Leaky Cauldron. It was currently 6.50 A.M. He decided he would make sure he had everything before having breakfast and making his way over to King's Cross. He wanted to arrive early so that he had a compartment to himself, well at least to begin with, he guessed people would ask to join him. He didn't want to be the one to ask as he was still quite shy, something that he wanted to change. He wanted to trust himself but that was in the long run, you can't go from what he used to be to overly confidant. As 8 o'clock passed by, he called Pixy, the Leaky Cauldron's house elf, and had some breakfast. He ate it quickly out of anticipation for the day. By 8.15 he had finished eating and went to his room to brush his teeth, there was probably a spell for that but he hadn't found one.

It was at 9.30 that he arrived at King's Cross, he had already asked Tom how he had to get onto the platform but he still couldn't get the courage to just run at a wall, that just seemed counterproductive, but hey who was he to judge the wizarding world, he had only just joined it. So with that, he sprinted towards the wall a closed his eyes. He felt a weird sensation go through him as he passed the barrier and then opened his eyes. There, in front of him was a red steam train, it wasn't even billowing steam at this time. There weren't many people on the platform, there were probably a maximum of 8 families but he didn't bother to count them, he was just admiring the train. He heard the same bushy haired girl with big front teeth that he had seen in Diagon Alley who was pestering her parents to get more books. This time she was trying to carry all her things into the train. She currently had her trunk and two bags which were probably full of books. He made his way over to her

"D-Do you want some help ?"He asked for some reason a bit nervously

She let out a little shriek which Harry took as she didn't know he was there. He was just about getting ready to apologise when she turned to look at him. "Sorry for screaming, you just surprised me, but yes please I would like some help if you don't mind" she responded with a small smile that didn't reach her eyes. Harry guessed that she didn't really trust anyone easily from the look she was giving him, but that sort of reminded him of himself. So together, they made their way into a compartment. He hadn't intended on sharing a compartment right from the start but if this girl was up to it, why not, he thought. He picked up his trunk first and put it in the railings over their heads and then offered to put hers up which she thanked him for. They both sat down on opposite sides of the compartment near the window which left enough space for another 4 people if they wanted.

"I'm Hermione Granger by the way" she said extending her hand

"I'm H-"

"Harry Potter" she finished for him, and he shook her hand. "Don't worry, I know, I was going to mention it outside but I didn't think you looked like the sort of person to like attention." Harry nod and was surprised that the girl in front of him could already read so much off of his face. "I've read about you in several books, like The Rise And Fall Of The Dark Arts. At first I noticed the colour of your eyes so I had already guessed your name then I saw the scar and that just kind of proved it"

Harry's initial reaction was to be surprised that somebody had actually recognized him but then he remembered his status in the Wizarding World. They continued to get to know each other, they mainly spoke about what they wanted to try out the most when they get to Hogwarts. Harry of course had already started learning spells which he explained to her. She had a look that said it wasn't fair that he could do magic outside of school. He of course, found it quite useful in keeping the Dursley's out of his hair. He had wanted to go back to the Dursley's so that he could hopefully rekindle their relationship a bit; obviously, that didn't work as they did everything in their power to avoid him. But he had made his mind up, this summer he wouldn't be going back, he would be going to Potter Manor.

The train had just left the station. They were still talking when a round-faced boy with blond hair who was about Harry's height which for their age was quite short but Neville looked like he hadn't grown up in a cupboard, in fact, he looked like he had grown up in a wealthy family. "Hello, have you seen a toad ? I've lost mine and I'm looking for him" the boy asked shyly

"No sorry, do you want me to help you find him ?" Hermione asked, the boy seemed surprised at this but accepted the help. Harry decided he would stay in the compartment so no one else took it, plus all their stuff was there so he didn't want to leave it unsupervised. The other two agreed and left to find the toad. Harry pulled out a book that he hadn't even started yet. He had bought it yesterday because apparently pureblood's all had a bit of training in the mind arts which was the book Harry had in his hands: Beginner's guide to the Mind Arts. He found the subject to be quite interesting. When he found out that mind reading was actually a thing in the wizarding world it scared him because he didn't want people looking through his mind but then he discovered that it was rare to meet someone who was very good at Legilimency. However, in the case of Occlumency that wasn't as hard. He was determined to protect his mind, but also liked the thought of being able to read an other's mind but that also had an unsettling feeling in his stomach. He could learn what others thought of him, which quite honestly, he didn't like. He had never really been liked, although a major part of that was because Dudley made sure of it by making everyone hate him, or be hated if they approached him.

Those thoughts were pushed to the back of his mind when a boy with a pointed face, slick blond hair that had way too much gel in it in Harry's opinion and cold grey eyes walked in with what could only be described as two tanks with long gorilla arms, they gave out a sort of bully feeling, and Harry didn't like that. "Hey, you, have you seen Harry Potter, apparently he's on the train ?"the blond boy asked with a sneer on his face. Harry already didn't like him, so decided to lie. "Sorry but no." he answered with a bored voice. The blond boy just huffed and left. Harry returned to his book but was interrupted about five seconds later when Hermione and the round faced boy returned with the toad in hand. The boy seemed extremely relieved at this and they both sat down on the bench opposite to Harry.

"Where was he ?" Harry asked in an attempt to start a conversation as he put his book down next to him.

"He was near the Prefect's compartment, one of the Griffindor prefects found him and was just about to go looking for his owner. I'm Neville by the way, Neville Longbottom" he said offering Harry his to shake which he did

"I'm Harry Potter" he said quicker than last time, he didn't want to be cut off again like Hermione had done. Neville's eyebrows rose into his hair as his eyes, unlike most people who he had met, didn't flash towards Harry's scar. He seemed to be shocked to have actually met the Boy-Who-Lived. A few seconds later he regained his composure. "Th-There was a boy over there looking for you," he stumbled "Draco Malfoy I believe, looks and acts just like his father, thinking he's above everybody else."

"Ah yes he came in here and asked if I knew where Harry Potter was, I told him I don't know." The other two looked at his with a confused expression on their face "What ? I didn't like the feeling him and his two friends were giving off" Harry shrugged. His two friends chuckled at this. Were they his friends ? He had barely known them, yet they made him feel happy so he guessed that counted. Anyways, they continued talking about themselves for a while, Harry didn't really go unto any detail about his life at the Dursley's but he did say it wasn't very pleasant. Neville had also told Harry about the Longbottom-Potter political alliance. Turns out Harry's and Neville's ancestors were quite close, even their parents, which Neville didn't really like talking about. Harry didn't know if it was because Harry's parents were dead or because of something else but he didn't ask then, he didn't want to interrupt the boy who was explaining everything about the alliance.

It was quite a powerful alliance according to Neville, because not only were there the Potters and the Longbottoms but also other houses. It only kept that name as it was the two houses that had created the alliance a few generations ago. With it, they could just about pass any law they wanted but there was also the Dark Faction as the Light side and the Grey side called it. It mainly consisted of the Malfoys, the Notts, the Crabbes, the Goyles and the Parkinsons. Not all of them however were Most Ancient and Noble Houses, like the Longbottom-Potter alliance, they needed all the help they could get. The Dark Faction tried to pass all laws that would give an advantage to purebloods whereas the Longbottom-Potter alliance passed laws that would benefit both magical and muggle worlds without the muggles even knowing. What really decided which laws were and weren't put in place was the Grey families. Apparently, the Potters were Grey but they were still in this alliance. The reason they were Grey is because they understood that in wars you can't really fight in a war using stunners when the other side was using all manners of dark spells and also the unforgivables which Hermione told Harry was the Cruciatus Curse: a torturing curse, the Imperious Curse: a curse where you can control another human being, which Harry didn't like the idea of and the final one was the Killing Curse: and it did just that, it killed without any resistance. They had also explained to Harry that that was the reason for his fame, because he was the only one to ever survive that curse. He didn't know this as he had avoided all book that spoke about him, it was just weird in his mind to be reading about yourself.

The Grey families however didn't use the unforgivable curses, they used dark magic to an extent but the unforgivables was their limit. They continued talking about a few things, Harry even told them that he was actually a Lord which answered Hermione's unasked question of how he could do magic outside of school. She had just assumed it was because of who he is. They were both shocked to find out that not only was he a Lord, but he was Lord to two Most Ancient and Noble Houses and Heir to a third. Hermione didn't really understand the wizarding politics system but she guessed that Harry's position was quite important in it all. They told him that he wouldn't tell anyone which Harry greatly appreciated.

Percy Weasley, the Griffindor Prefect, as he had introduced himself came into their compartment to tell them that they were only half an hour away from Hogsmeade and that they had better get changed. He also told them to leave their luggage on the train because it would be taken to their rooms while they were at the Welcoming feast. So Harry and Neville exited the compartment so that Hermione could get changed and then went in themselves. If Harry hadn't been emancipated, he thought that he might have been a lot thinner than he was now, but seems he was able to terrify his aunt and uncle with magic, he could eat as much as Dudley if he ever wanted to, which of course he didn't, he had no idea how his cousin ate so much. Now though, he did at least have something above his rib cage which wasn't showing at least. When they had finished they got out of the compartment and they, along with Hermione, made their way to one of the doors so that they could leave the train quite easily. They could feel the train starting to slow down and more students joined them at the doors. When it stopped, Harry, Neville and Hermione made their way to a booming voice of Hagrid calling "Firs' years this way, firs' years over 'ere !"

So the three of them made their way over to him and said hello to Hagrid but they along with the rest of the first years made their way to a fleet of boats. Harry didn't really understand but went with it. Once everyone had found their boats, the boats left the port. Harry, Hermione and Neville were with another boy. He had red hair, freckles all over his face and his robes looked second-hand. Not that it bothered Harry, it was just an observation he had made. As the boats came closer they got their first look at Hogwarts. It was huge, beautiful and well lit. Harry's eyes were nearly popping out of their sockets at it. It was much better than he had imagined. He expected something big because there was still all the wizarding children from 11 to 17 years old there but he didn't think it would be this big. They arrived at a boat house which had a path that led to the castle. All the first years were in awe of the castle. They had mostly all heard stories of Hogwarts whether it be on the train or at home from their parents, and none of seemed to be ready for the sight that welcomed them. As they entered they were greeted by an elderly looking woman with a stern face and very thin lips. Once they arrived, Hagrid left them to the woman who introduced herself as Professor McGonagall. She explained the sorting to them and also the different houses and what they represented. The red head that was in the boat with them let out a sigh of relief. He had explained to them that he had heard they had to fight a troll to be sorted. Harry, Hermione and Neville knew that it was true but went with what the boy said, well, Harry and Neville did, Hermione just rolled her eyes and shook her head although Harry was sure there was the faintest hint of amusement on her face.

A few moments later, Professor McGonagall walked back out of the Great Hall in which she had entered after telling them about the sorting and the houses. "We are ready for you" she said looking at all of them, but Harry saw a bit of sadness in her eyes as she looked at him. He took it as she had known his parents and could his parents in him. Hagrid did after all tell him that he looked like his father but had his mother's eyes. She then led them into the Great Hall. It was big in length, width and height, there were four really long tables at which the students sat down and at the end, there was another table where the teachers sat. Looking up at the ceiling, he noticed it looked like the night sky, just then he heard Hermione tell someone that it was an enchantment, and that she had read it in Hogwarts: A History. Harry had started reading it but had mainly gone over the main points such as the difference between the houses, the House cup, the Quidditch cup which he had read up on a bit more because the sport interested him. He had also read about the rivalry between the Slytherins and Griffindors though he didn't really understand it.

At this point they had arrived at the Head Table where there was a stool with a Hat on top. "When I call out your name, you will sit down on the stool and i will place the Hat on your head and you will be placed. Abott Hannah !" A blond girl walked up to the stool quite nervously. Of course, Harry understood, he would have been terrified in her place. She put the Hat on and it seemed to just on her head for a moment when it finally cried out "Hufflepuff !" She then made her way over to the Hufflepuff table to pleasant applause. It continued like this for them all. Hermione, when she was called, she put the Hat on and it seemed to be on her head for around four minutes, but eventually, the Hat cried out "Ravenclaw !" She also received pleasant applause when she made her way over to the Ravenclaw table.

"Greengrass Daphne" Professor McGonagall announced. A pretty honey blond haired girl made her way to the stool with an expressionless mask. Her eyes were ice blue which matched the mask she put on. The Hat then called out "Slytherin !". Harry was still looking at her until she sat down and turned to look back up at the rest of the first years and she caught his eye. Harry quickly turned his head and watched as the sorting continued. Neville was quickly sorted into Griffindor, the Hat not really giving it a lot of thought. Griffindor applauded politely, some knowing what had happened to his parents. Harry now patiently awaited his turn. Time seemed to tick by slowly. He looked at the teachers and one of them, with greasy black hair, a crooked nose and a black cloak was already sneering at him for some reason, but decided to just look away. Finally Professor McGonagall called out "Potter Harry". The hall went silent and then whispered started. He could hear some of them. "It's Harry Potter !", "It's the Boy-Who-Lived" and other comments on that line. He decided to ignore them and sat down on the stool and put the Hat on. Suddenly Harry heard a voice in his head. "Difficult, very difficult, there's talent, a lot of it, there is also courage. A good mind once you know how to use it properly but there is also a thirst to prove yourself. Ah, and you are extremely loyal to those who are close to you. So Lord Potter, where would you like to go ? I must admit you have the qualities necessary for all of the houses, so it is your choice." Harry thought on it for a minute or so until he told the Hat of his decision. "Ravenclaw !" the Hat shouted out. There were thunderous applause from the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff table, slightly disappointed applause from the Griffindor table and only a few students at the Slytherin applauded him. The blond girl he had seen earlier, Daphne if he remembered clearly had a completely uninterested look on her face. Harry sat down on the opposite side of the Ravenclaw table from Hermione, who gave him a big smile, to which Harry returned the gesture.

They watched the last few students finish the sorting and the feast started. Harry had never eaten anything so nice in his life. He ate his fill until the headmaster, Dumbledore, made a few announcements about not going into the forest, some products that weren't allowed into the castle by the Care taker, Filch and also the dangers of going into the third floor corridor. Harry found it odd and that saying it wasn't allowed would just encourage them even more but Harry didn't comment any further as they were led to their dormitories by the prefects. They walked to Ravenclaw tower and arrived in front of a door without a handle. The only thing on it was a door knocker. The prefect knocked on the door using the knocker and it asked a question "What do the poor have that the rich need ?" It asked. And the prefect took a bit too long in his opinion so Harry just blurted out "Nothing". Everyone just looked at him in surprise and at the same time the door said "Very good" and opened. They stood there for a few moments before they all made their way in. As they walked in they took in the look of the tower. The common room was a wide circular room with arched windows with blue and bronze curtains. On the floor, there was a midnight blue carpet covered in stars which was reflected on the domed ceiling. The room was furnished with tables, chairs and a lot of bookcases surrounding the walls. By the door leading to both dormitories, there was a statue made of white marble of a woman with a sort of tiara on her head. They were then told where their dormitories were and that their stuff was already by their beds. Harry bid Hermione goodnight and made his way to his dormitory. It too was circular with a lot of blue. There were 6 four-poster beds each with midnight blue hangings. Harry quickly found his bed and fell into a comfortable sleep

Replies:

About the money in Harry's trust fund, there is that amount because they don't really expect him to spend it all in one year and besides, their investments covers to amount in his trust vault quite easily.

As for him going back to the Dursley's, I didn't want to make him discover everything that he had straight away. I wanted to keep some surprise for later chapters. But he will definitely be visiting Potter Manor by the summer at the end of his first year.

He knows the levitation charm because like I said in the previous chapter, he tried out a few simple spells while he was in Diagon Alley and that he had found it easy to learn for a reason that will only be made known further on in the story.

Yes he will use the will to free Sirius and he will have a few issues with a certain old man as you put it but not as much as some stories I've seen, I still want Harry and Dumbledore to work together.

Draco will find out about Harry being the Heir to the Black Family but not quite yet, soon but not just yet.

About Bill, I'm not sure if he was working in Egypt already, in my mind he was training for a bit before he left somewhere during the first year.

Dobby will be freed but I'm not sure if he will be loyal to Harry yet or someone else I had in mind, but I'll think on that a bit more as we go.
