Hanging my clothes up on the rack that was outside my window, I heard the window further down open up. Looking at him, I saw a young man taking in some air. "Good morning!" I called out, with him looking at me and just giving a nod before going back inside. "Weird guy." I said as I went back inside my self. Walking over to my trash, I pulled out the bag and tied it up before leaving. Making my way down stairs, I saw a heavyweight man walking towards the street. "Good morning!" I called out, with him looking up at me.
"Morning." He said, with me smiling as at least one person here would talk to me.
Hearing a fuss as I reached the bottom of the steps, I saw the old lady holding Yoruichi. "Ah, Dante, good to see that you take your trash out in the morning. I told the others but they don't listen, and it draws in these furballs." She said, with me blinking at her disrespect towards the cat.
"What do you plan on doing with it?" I asked, with her shrugging.
"I don't know, but I do know of a few places where they use cat in their foods, maybe I will take it there, teach it a lesson." She said, with me shrugging. "Are you off to school?" She asked, with me shaking my head.
"No, I'm off to work." I said, with her leaning on her broom.
"A job, huh? You're not one of those phone operators are you?" She questioned, with me shaking my head.
"No, I tutor kids!" I said, with her smiling at that.
"I see, well you be safe now!" She said, with me waving at her as I walked away.
Later
Walking up to a stand, I saw Zero Two inside with a nail filer in hand. "A bag of kisses." I said, with her looking at me with a smirk.
"One forty, but for a real kiss from you Darling its free!" She said, with me dropping the change, with her taking it and tossing me a bag of kisses, with a watch on the inside.
Later
Walking down an ally, I placed the bag on a box, with Argo jumping down as I walked past out of the alleyway.
Later
Taking my punch card I placed it in the clocked in section. "Ah, Dante, good, perfect timing." Someone called out, with me turning around and seeing that it was my boss, Haru.
"Yes?" I asked, confused on what he wanted as it was my first day.
"Here, I need you to deliver this before you start your shift." He said, passing a package to me, with me looking at it and then to him.
"Were to?" I asked, not used to the area quite yet.
"The building right outside the main office, where the consultant works, Takashi." He said, pointing in the direction.
"Consultant? For what?" I asked, confused as to what that was.
"That's a good question. The guy stays locked up in his shed, as far as I know, he doesn't even go home at night. The word is, he used to be some kind of big time scientist, but he got fired for some stuff over seas. Oh, and I heard he was on the first team that went into Heavens gate, and was the only one who made it out alive." He said, shocking me as there was a survivor.
"He's been inside the gate?" I asked, with him shrugging.
"That's what they say anyways. Of course those are just stories, I doubt anyone of those are true." He said, with me nodding as he walked away.
Later
'This is it.' I thought as I knocked on the door. "Excuse me, I have a delivery for you!" I called out as I didn't get an answer.
"Its open." I heard, with me opening the door to find that it was. Walking over to his desk, I watched as he was doing some research on a plant that didn't look like it was from Earth, it was strange looking and reverse in color. A red stem with a green rose like top that had thorns on the top of the flower.
"I was asked to give this to you." I said, tripping over some books that were on the floor. Gathering up the books, I watched as he walked over and took the package and looked it over, with me looking at the watch that I had dropped under his desk, hiding it from his sight with the books. "I will take my leave." I said, with me taking notice that all of the books were about plants.
Later
"This should be the last of it!" I said, dropping the box onto the truck, with another person closing it as I jumped out.
Watching the truck take off, I rubbed the sweat off my forehead. "You there!" I heard, with me looking at Takashi as he ran over to me. "Do you have a drivers license?" He asked, with me nodding. "I need you to drive me towards the Nidai Middle School!" He said, with me nodding as I went to go get the company van.
Later
'How long is he going to be?' I thought as I leaned onto the wheel.
Hearing something land on the front of the van, I saw Yoruichi. "Just a heads up, Argo sais that a group from the Hellfire club checked into their room fifteen minutes ago." She said, with me nodding as I remembered them from when they took me captive, along with the new mutants. "Anything on Takashi yet?" She questioned, with me placing a finger up to my ear.
"It sounds like she might be a mutant, his daughter." I said, with her humming in thought. "A pyrokinetic, she's lucky that she burnt garbage and not a person." I said, with her nodding. "He's coming back, and he's in a rush." I said, with her nodding and rushing off.
Later
"Were you telling the truth, the fire started spontaneously while you were talking by?" Takashi questioned the girl as we were stuck in traffic. "Has that happened before? Have you experienced anything else unusual lately?" He questioned, with her groaning.
"What, you mean more unusual than you talking to me?" She shot back, with me frowning at her tone.
"Be serious, I mean things like odd behavior, lost time?" He questioned once more.
"So what if I had, what difference does it make? You cant just show up and start thinking that you care." She said, where I watched as Takashi grabbed her bandaged wrist, with me frowning at this as she started fighting back against him.
"Don't touch me!" She yelled once she broke free, where she looked at me with wide eyes and then looked away.
Seeing her get out, I looked at her with wide eyes as she ran over to some girls in the same school uniform. "That's not safe!" I called out, but she ignored me and left with her friends. Looking back at Takashi, I raised an eyebrow at him. "Should I go get her?" I questioned.
"You mind your own business." He said, with me looking forward with a frown.
Later that night
'Lets see... I don't know anyone of these people.' I thought with a frown as I looked at the CD's. 'I think I got everyone that I know.' I thought as I turned to check out, but stopped once I saw Takashi's daughter. 'What's she doing here?' I thought as I went to leave, but saw her drop a CD just before exiting the store. 'Seriously?!' I yelled in my head as I walked up to her.
"Excuse me!" The cashier called out, with me picking up the CD.
"Good, you found it!" I said, with her looking at me in shock. "Can you ring these up for us?" I asked, with him nodding and heading over to the cashier, with me watching her leave with a humph. 'Looks like I'm following a kid, never thought I would be a creeper.' I thought as I checked out.
Later
"What are you doing out at night, where are your parents?" I heard, with me looking down the street and seeing her talking to some officers.
"What do you care, its none of your business." She shot back, making me face palm at her attitude.
"Now listen-"
"There you are!" I called out as I walked over to them, with all three of them looking at me. Placing my hands on her shoulders, I smiled at them. "My sister!" I said, pushing her along and away from them. "What are you doing, are you trying to get arrested?" I questioned once we got far enough from them.
"And if I am?" She questioned, with me lightly chopping her on the head, with her rubbing it. "That hurt!" She yelled, with me turning her to face me.
"Enough with the attitude, you need to open your eyes." I said, with her glairing at me. "You're awakening your mutant power, and your attitude is what sets it off, believe me, I know." I said, shocking her.
"You're a mutant too?" She questioned, with me nodding.
"Yes, I'm actually quite famous. I stopped Apocalypses, went insane and became a detective, then I stopped the asteroids. Can you guess?" I questioned, with her just looking at me.
"You're the Insane Detective?" She questioned, with me nodding.
"Yes, well, I'm not insane anymore, that was only due to me being Deaths Champion." I said, with her groaning.
"The one other mutant I bump into, its the Insane Detective, the most HATED Detective in the ENTIER CITY!?" She yelled as she spread her arms out. "What do you want, did he send you? Did he ask you to spy on me? Well get lost, tell him I don't want to see him, tell him to leave me alone, tell him that I hate him!" She yelled, looking away from me, with me knowing that she was crying as that's not what she wanted.
Walking up to her, I placed a hand on her head and rubbed it, with her looking at me and then rubbing her eyes. "I was your age when I lost my family, trust me when I say this, its not what you want." I said, looking forward. "Its late, let me walk you home." I said, with her shaking her head.
"I don't want to go home... there's nothing there... just a dark empty apartment. I cant go back." She said, with me frowning at this as she was like me when I was living at the brotherhood house.
"Alright, I guess we will just have to hang out till morning." I said, with her looking at me. "While we're at it, I can help you learn more about your mutant powers." I said, with her eyes widening. "I was supposed to teach at the Institute after all." I said with a large smile.
Later
"Why the beach?" She asked as we walked.
"This way we don't hurt anyone." I said, walking up to a large pile of trash. "This, is where you will practice." I said, turning to her, with her raising an eyebrow at me.
"What, you want me to burn this?" She asked, with me shaking my head at her.
"Not exactly... well, yeah that's kind of the point, but putting your powers to good use helps." I said, with her crossing her arms. "You get blackouts, correct?" I asked, with her nodding. "That's from your powers taking over, a friend of mine had that happen to her, two of them actually. It was up to me to help them. Jean Grey, a powerful telepath, and host of the Phoenix, and Rogue, a mutant who could take ones life force and powers by touch." I said, with her nodding.
"I know them. What is the Phoenix?" She asked, making me smile.
"Its a celestial being, powerful enough to destroy worlds. I have one as well, it goes by Decay." I said, with her tapping her chin.
"Isn't that what happens when you touch people, you drain them to the point that they die... HEY, YOU AND ROGUE HAVE THE SAME POWER?!" She yelled, making me laugh.
"Yes, in a way, but she got the better end of the deal. Now, our training will be a simple one, and I'm not going to ask you to fight, because I wont fight you." I said, with her nodding. "You are going to start with summoning the fire, so hold your hands out and focus." I said, with her shaking her head.
"It doesn't come from me." She said, confusing me. "It randomly sets things on fire, hell, it could set you on fire." She said, with me frowning at this.
"So, its not an inner source, but an outer source." I said, thinking for a moment and then snapping my fingers as I ran over to her and got behind her. "Start by feeling the air in front of you, not around, but in front." I said, with her closing her eyes. "Next, separate the hot from the cold." I said, here I watched sparks appeared in the air in front of her. 'So, its a lot like my ability to focus on the heat and cold, this should be easy.' I thought with a smile.
"Wow, sparks!" She said, with me placing a hand on her head.
"Focus!" I said, with her nodding and closing her eyes once more. "Now, bring all of the heat into one point in front of you." I said, where I watched a small fire ball appear, smiling at it. "Congrats, you summoned fire!" I said, with her opening her eyes and gasping at it.
"I CAN SUMMON FIRE!?" She yelled as she jumped up and down.
"I think there's more to it than just fire." I said, with her looking at me with stars in her eyes. "Lets go again, but don't focus on the heat, but the cold." I said, with her nodding and getting back into position. This took longer for her, but the air was cooling down to the point that she formed snow. "Its a work in progress, but its something." I said, with her looking at the snow that formed around her, with her smiling at the new development.
"Wow, that is so cool! How did you know that I could do this?" She asked as she turned to me.
I smiled at her as I did the same thing she did, but formed fire in my right hand and ice in my left. "I've always had fire, but Ice is harder to do as it takes longer to focus in on it. I drain the heat in the air and the air turns to ice. The fire, its just something that comes naturally, it used to only put people in illusions, now it actually hurts people." I said, with her nodding.
"Does that mean that I could do the same with water?" She asked, with me nodding.
"Water freezes faster, yes." I said, with her pumping her fist up.
"This is so cool! WAIT!" She said, holding her hands out to me. "You're not making me an X-Man, are you?" She questioned, with me frowning at that.
"The X-Men are no more, sorry." I said, with her frowning at that.
"Right... the Professor." She said, with me nodding. "What happened that day?" She asked, with me rubbing my head.
"To be honest... I still don't know. One second I'm returning from college, the next both the Professor and Jean are gone. I have a hunch, but I cant be sure of it until Jean pops back up or we find her body." I said, with her eyes widening.
"You think that-"
"Lets keep that on the down low, not many people know about that side of her." I said, with her nodding. "Now, lets get rid of this trash, I'll create a mist around us with Ice." I said, with her nodding as she looked towards the trash.
The next morning
"Wow, I cant believe how cool a mutant can be." She said, but then frowned. "But also scary seeing as there will be a lot of people who will want to kill me for being a mutant." She said as we walked down a back ally.
"I know. When I first used my powers, it was at a terrible time. I was in the middle of a group hug with my family." I said, with her gasping. "Yeah, that's about the same look I had, I even saw myself as a monster for a good bit after that. I was taken in by someone I see as my mother a few days later, and it was a wild ride from there." I said, smiling as I remember meeting Mystique for the first time. 'I wonder where she is.' I thought as I looked up at the sky.
"Do you have any other family?" She asked, with me nodding.
"I see them as family, but not blood related. Cyclopes, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Spyke were my brothers. Jean, Jubilee and Shadowcat were my sisters. Wolverine was my uncle, the Professor was a father figure. Storm was like a family friend that you could go to for advice. Beast was my teacher, I got his pacifist nature from him as well as his love for teaching." I said, smiling as I remembered each of them, but then frowned. "Cyclopes left once Jean vanished, wanting nothing to do with us. Kurt went back to Germany, his home from home. Colossus went back to Russia, I didn't know Colossus very well. Iceman went home to get away from us as it was too dangerous. Spyke went missing way before the explosion, back before Apocalypses. Jean vanished, Jubilee... Last I heard of her, she was looking into some "Vampire" Attacks in New Mexico and hasn't heard from her since, only Wolverine knowns what happened to her. Shadowcat is with her family, and last I heard, they were sick. Wolverine was leaving the day I came back, he always leaves and comes back a year or so later. The Professor vanished in the explosion. Storm went back to Africa. Beast stayed to learn more about what happened. Psylocke, my teacher, left a year ago and haven't heard from her since." I said, remembering where everyone was.
"What about Rogue, you didn't mention her at all." She questioned, with me nodding.
"Right, well, Rogue was the only person, other than one other, who has ever been able to touch me without my powers hurting her, and me vice versa with her." I said, shocking her. "We were living together... until she up and left me, and I cant blame her for it either. I don't know where she is, just that she doesn't want to be found, and she learned that from Wolverine." I said, with her placing a hand on my shoulder as we walked.
"I'm sure that you will find her." She said, with me nodding. "Whos the other person who's able to touch you?" She asked, with me rubbing the back of my head with a grin.
"She doesn't have a name, but a number. Zero Two. She's able to find anyone wherever there is water." I said, impressing her.
"That's super cool!" She said, with me nodding as it was cool.
"I do have an aunt, she's in space somewhere. As for my adoptive mother, she could be anybody right about now." I said, with her nodding her head.
"Space sounds cool, must be cool to be an astronaut." She said, with me nodding.
"Yeah, you should see the plant from space, its beautiful." I said, with her looking at me.
"You've see it!?" She said in shock. "Wow, I'm super jealous!" She said, making me laugh as she was such a kid.
"You're not alone." I heard in my ear, with me seeing two men approaching us.
"Turn right into the next ally!" I ordered, with her looking up at me, with me staring at the two men. Once we reached it, I grabbed her arm and ran down the ally, where two more men were running at us. Cutting down one of them, the other one blinked beside me, with me pinning him to the wall. "DON'T LOOK BACK, JUST RUN!?" I yelled as I slashed at him, but he appeared to my side and elbowed me in the back of the neck.
Spinning around, I stabbed him in the back as I watched her run. Looking over my shoulder, I watched as the two from before came around the corner with guns and shot at me. I would of been killed if it wasn't for Argo dropping in front of me with my coat in front of her, taking the hits. "Ow, that hurts!" She yelled, with me taking my coat and putting it on before charging at the two and cutting them down.
Looking at Argo, I watched as she pulled out her MP3 player and then placed her headphones on, looking at me with a unconfutable expression. "Zero Two, can you track the girl?" I asked, placing a finger on my ear, but I got my answer as a large vortex of fire appeared, with me rushing towards it.
