When he got home he went to the kitchen and took the limiters out of his pocket and put them on the table then saw a note.
Dear Sonic,
If I were to die I leave you my limiters. We just about match everything and I transfer my abilities to you with these on. Take care of them. If anything were to happen to you give them to Tails and have him fix it up. You can have him change what color they are and everything. Now that I'm gone they only answer to you. Know that I love you and trust you with them. Take care of them. Love,

When he was done he looked at them and put them on feeling Shadow's strength and abilities to come to him.
Then he looked at them.
"I promise to look after them." he said.
Sure enough it had been a week since Shadow died and Sonic hadn't left his room since he got home.
He kept the limiters on and told Tails and Knuckles about what Shadow said.
Tails and Knuckles had been staying with him at now his house.
When they have work Silver will help to make it easier for them.
Everyone was in the dining room talking.
"We need to find a way to get him to come out." Knuckles said.
"How?" Amy asked.
"We don't know." Tails said.
"He needs to remember he has us and other friends like Chris and Chuck." Blaze said.
Tails sat there quietly thinking.
"What's up Tails?" Knuckles asked his other best friend and teammate.
"I have an idea why he's so upset." Tails said.
"Why?" Silver asked.
"I swore on my two tails that I would keep this quiet but know I have to break my promise for something this big. And you know when I make a promise I keep it, especially when I swear with my two tails."
Hearing that shocked them all.
The Tails Prower, eleven year old genius and inventor, member of Team Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic's best friend breaking a promise?
A two tailed promise to!
"I fear that kind of promise you're breaking." Rouge said.
"Well, Cream, Amy, probably Rouge and Blaze, get ready for a broken heart story. Maybe even at least Knuckles."
"What is it Tails?" Amy asked.
"Did you ever wonder what happened to Sonic's parents and uncle Chuck?"
"Yeah." they said together.
"Why he took me in when he could just go and be on his marry way?"
They all nodded.
"He lost his parents after them protecting him from Eggman."
Everyone gasped.
"He was after Sonic's parents because they were Freedom Fighters. Then when he was five they were killed so he ran to his uncle Chuck as told and bumped into him on his way there. He took him in and Sonic joined the Freedom Fighters and was pretty much their secret weapon. With his speed he was able to destroy certain things. When he was eleven his uncle Chuck was robotasized causing him to raise himself." he said and took a deep breath.
Everyone sat there in silence crying.
"Two years later he took me in and let me help him with Eggman. A year later we started fighting Knuckles three times (Knuckles winced) then created Team Sonic after he saw that it was Eggman after the Master Emerald and not us. And you know what happened after."
They were all sitting there in tears.
Silver was holding Blaze, Rouge was holding Amy and Cream while Knuckles grabbed onto Tails after finishing the story.
"That's why he lost it so easily after the miscarriage. And even worse after losing Shadow. Isn't it?" Blaze asked remembering how she was upset after having a miscarriage last year.
Tails nodded.
"That explains why he's so upset on two days a year and is now probably going to be four days." Knuckles said.
The others nodded.
Meanwhile in heaven Shadow was watching them shaking his head.
"What have I done? I left him and now he's out of it and is never going to get over me." he said shaking his head.
Then he saw Sonic looking at the pictures of them or just him.
He shut his eyes tight in guilt then opened them again and saw Sonic crying.
"I'm sorry babe." he said shaking his head. "If I could I'd go back in time and tell myself what happens. I should be supporting you. You're the one that lost it. Not me."
Maria was right behind him worried.
"Shadow?" she said and he said nothing. "What's wrong?"
He was crying in guilt.
"I left my mate after losing the baby. I murdered myself while he slept. I should have been with him. He's the one that went through the pregnancy, not me!" he said and started crying harder.
Maria held him close while he cried.
"What have I done Maria?"
"You were just upset and couldn't think at the time." she said.
"What if he doesn't try and find a new mate?"
"That's up to him."
He stood there crying in guilt and upset after losing the baby.
Then Maria thought of something.
"There might be a way for you to be able to talk to him." she said.
"Really?"
"Come with me and we can see if grandpa can make it."
So Shadow looked at a now sleeping Sonic.
"Don't worry, you'll see me again." he whispered.
When they got to Gerald they told him the idea and he agreed only needing some of Shadow's Chaos and he can make it.
