Rushing into her bedroom Boscha slammed the door shut. Fuck! Another day another rejected courting gift.
The omega stared at the blank walls of her room for a minute. Years ago in a breakdown, Boscha had ripped down every poster and picture. Destroying every one of those stupid, worthless fucking trophies.
She had never put anything back up in their place. A hollow and haunting reminder of who she was. Who she would never be again.
Sitting down at her desk, the mirror that had sat on top was long gone, having been one of the first things she destroyed. Unable to stand looking at herself.
Boscha let out a tired sigh, folding up the most recent rejected gift. A silky dark green scarf. Willow had issues with certain textures, so Boscha had made sure to get it in a material the alpha liked. But not like it mattered. It never mattered.
Willow was never going to say yes. That much was clear. It was their last year at Hexside. She had been trying to court Willow this whole time. But the alpha was having none of it.
It perplexed Boscha. Because they did everything together. They would always sit knees and shoulders touching. They would spend the weekends in the park, or at the library. When they would hug, Boscha could feel the alpha breathing in her scent.
It was Boschas fault, of course. She was obviously reading the signs wrong. Clearly, Willow only wanted to be friends.
But then.. There were times that they would be lying on a blanket in the park. And Boscha would turn to Willow, the look the alpha gave her made Boscha melt inside.
No one had ever looked at Boscha like that. It's like Willow was looking at fine art. Something beautiful. Something delicate, that needed to be cherished. Boscha could swear it almost looked like love.
And in those moments the omega desperately wished she could kiss the alpha. So she would lean forward. And so would Willow. So close they could taste the other's scents on their tongues.
Every time, the omega's heart would start to race, hoping this would finally be it. That they would finally kiss. But every time Willow would pull away. Leaving Boscha an aching mess.
The triclops could swear it was almost like they were dating. But yet..
The alpha still refused her courting gifts.
What kind of game is she playing? Why is she fucking stringing me along? Boscha couldn't help but growl to herself. She tried to stay away from toxic thoughts like that, but days like these made it hard.
Willow is a real alpha. She would never stoop so low just to date a fake omega.
Boscha shook herself, trying to clear her thoughts. She just couldn't help herself. Why wouldn't Willow just say yes?
Was Willow really mad that she was being courted by an omega? Was Willow really that old-fashioned? Did Willow feel as though she needed to do the courting because she was an alpha?
Well, it's not like Boscha didn't give her time. Though the omega still gave courting gifts, she would wait at least six months in between each one. Not wanting to pressure Willow into anything.
Boscha sighed, setting the silk scarf on the top of her desk. Along with every other rejected gift. Five in total.
Five failures.
At this point, Boscha wasn't even sure why she continued to try. Willow wasn't interested. So why couldn't Boscha just let it go? Why was she so hung up over someone who clearly doesn't want her?
There was something about Willow that Boscha just couldn't give up.
Maybe it was the alphas scent, of the forest after rain, that both excited and soothed her in the same breath.
Maybe it was the warmth that lived beneath her skin when they were together. Electricity and fire roared through her veins every time they touched.
Maybe it was the fact that Boscha could be her most genuine self around Willow. There were no games, no fake personas, no acting. Boscha could simply be Boscha.
And Boscha was a fucking nerd. She was silly and playful. She loved to joke around by making silly faces or weird noises. Any time the omega would say something dumb or make a funny gesture, Willow would laugh and return it with something just as equally silly.
Never had Boscha connected with someone like Willow. They just clicked, understood each other without trying. Almost like they were meant to be together.
Boscha groaned, dropping her head onto her desk. She was a cursed omega. Meant to fall for alphas who would never love her back.
Willow will never love you. No one could ever love you.
Boscha had to stop, she was gonna spiral thinking like that. She needed a distraction.
Sitting up Boscha grabbed her crystal ball, she knew who she could talk to about this, her best friend.
Fingers tapped against the top of her desk impatiently. Finally, the crystal ball started to swirl and fog. A blurry picture showed Amity sitting at her desk, before clearing up.
Amity looked quite flustered. Her face was red and she looked out of breath.
"Bosh," Amity stated breathlessly.
"Oh, am I distracting you from something?" Boscha snickered out.
"Of course no-"Amity was cut off mid-sentence.
"Yeah, we are very busy. So get lost, three-eyes." Luz teased as she stepped up behind Amity, leaning down to be seen in the crystal ball.
Boscha couldn't help her growl, she didn't have the patience to deal with Luz right now.
"I just need to talk to my friend, so why don't you fuck off, human?" Boscha said with much more bite than usual.
"Damn witch, who pissed in your apple blood today?" Luz reeled back surprised at Boscha's hostility.
"No one. Just let me talk to Amity. Asshole.." Boscha growled as she rolled her eyes.
Luz studied the triclops for a moment. "Shit, is this about Willow?"
Boscha snarled in return. "It's none of your fucking business."
The human growled right back. "It is my business when it's about my best friend! I don't know why you even try. She doesn't like you. Besides, she could do a hell of a lot better than you."
The second the words left her mouth Luz regretted it. Watching as Boscha flinched and turned away, losing all her fight and fire.
"Yeah.. You're right.." Boscha whimpered out sadly.
Luz looked down at Amity, who just shook her head and said quietly, just to Luz, "Just let me talk to her for a bit."
Luz sighed and nodded, looking back at a dejected Boscha. "Sorry Bosh, I, uh.. I'll see you later."
Luz quickly disappeared out of sight. Leaving Amity and Boscha to sit in silence.
"So, I'm guessing this is about Willow, then?" Amity finally asked.
"Yeah.. She rejected another gift today.." The omega sighed sadly, as she turned back to look at Amity.
"Bosh.. It's been years.. She has never said yes.. It might be time to throw in the towel. It's our last year at Hexside. You can't chase her forever." Amity spoke softly, trying not to sound too mean.
The triclops dropped her head to her desk with a thump. "I know.. I just.. There is something about her.. I.. You're right. I can't keep this up."
"Well.. I say give it one last go. Make it big, your final hurrah. Like.. Ask her to grom or something." Amity suggested softly.
Sitting back up Boscha nodded. "Yeah, that's probably the best thing I could do."
"If she says yes then great. If not, then you can finally move on. You are only hurting yourself in the long run by holding on." The alpha sighed.
"Yeah. I know. Okay, thanks Amity. I'm glad I still have you." Boscha said genuinely.
Amity just nodded before glancing off to the side, her cheeks flushing red all over again.
"Listen, I gotta go Bosh. I'll talk to you on Monday, yeah?" Amity hurriedly rushed out, not looking at Boscha at all.
"Yeah, yeah. I know your omega is getting antsy. I'll see ya." Boscha nodded and set her crystal ball back aside.
Standing up the omega made her way back over to her bed, flopping down on it.
What should I do? What would make Willow say yes? Nothing else had worked.
Rolling on her back, Boscha grabbed her scroll and started looking up courting gifts. She spent several hours in the same spot. Desperately trying to find the perfect gift.
Finally, the omega found a page on traditional courting gifts. What's this? A flower?
Boscha quickly clicked the link to a Wickedipedia page on the HeartBloom Flower.
"The HeartBloom flower was a traditional final courting gift. The amount of effort put into growing a HeartBloom showed a witches passion, love, and dedication. Though it was no longer used as courting gifts these days. But some vendors still sell the seeds at huge prices. The HeartBloom is a fickle plant, needing a lot of time and attention. It takes at least 6 months for the flower to fully bloom-"
HeartBloom? That sounds perfect! Boscha immediately looked up if she could buy the seeds. She found a vendor, a single seed was over 3000 Snails. But fuck it. Willow was worth it. Boscha bought two seeds.
Spending the rest of the night on her scroll, looking up how to grow the Heartbloom. Boscha didn't sleep that night. But she didn't need it.
Getting the perfect gift for Willow was worth every sleepless night she has and will ever have.
