Transformers Prime: Bumblebee's Brother
Chapter 4: Darkness Rising Part 2
Agent William Fowler and his son, Leo Fowler, were heading to the direction of the Autobot Base in their helicopter. Fowler told his son about the Autobots and their battle with their enemies, the Decepticons.
"Well, that explains those purple cars from yesterday." Miles said, after hearing his father's story.
"Yeah..." Fowler said. "Look, Leo, I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I wanted to, but you're too young to be involved into this.
"Dad. I'm a 15 year old, who played plenty of robot vs. alien video games during my time as your son, studied robotics as a student in High School, and actually build a mini-robot that carries your bag as an agent in training." Miles said, reminding his dad that he's not that young anymore.
"I get that... But ever since your mother left-
"I know dad!" Leo said, interrupting his dad when he was about to finish that line. Since his father and his mother divorced, he saw her less time and his dad was the only person there for him. That was when they finally got on top of the Autobot base. They got out of the helicopter, heading outside. "That was a long flight here"
"Okay, Leo, let's go" Fowler said, getting his son's attention.
Autobot Base
Fowler and his son got inside the base, walking towards the bots. While Fowler was scolding them, Leo saw Jack, Miko, and Raf. He was shocked that they were here. They probably got caught in the crossfire like he did.
After the whole conversation, Fowler took his leave, but not before introducing his son to the autobots.
"This is my son, Leo Fowler."
Leo waved at the autobots and looked at his dad, who went to the elevator and left the base. Once the agent left, the green mech walked up to Leo.
"Your dad has some big bearings... For a human." Bulkhead said half-bitterly. Optimus then walked up to them.
"Agent Fowler is concerned for his world, Bulkhead as he should be". He then looked down at the 15-year-old. "You must be his son, Leo Fowler."
The kid nodded at the huge robot. "Yep, that's my name." Leo said. "I guess you're the people who saved my life from those purple cars."
"You could say that." Blue Jacket said, now walking towards them. "Sorry I didn't picked you up, but your dad got that covered... Also, Optimus told me not to."
"It's fine." Leo shrugged. "I'm just happy you saved my life." He then looked at the others and his friends, who were walking towards him.
"Leo? What are you doing here?" Jack asked, couldn't believe that he was here.
"I could say the same about you, Raf, and Miko." Leo said, looking at the other two.
"After school, I was playing with my remote car, until I saw 'Bee and his friend fighting those cars that turn into robots." Raf said, explaining his story to Leo, who nodded and looked at Miko next.
"And what about you, Miko?"
"It was awesome!" Miko exclaimed, explaining her side of the story. "I was drawing a picture of the motorcycle. That's when I got a call from my host parents, which, of course, I pressed the 'ignore' button. Before I could get back to drawing the picture, the blue motorcycle was gone. That's when I saw it, so I'd followed it and...BOOM!"
Leo smirked, knowing when Miko said 'Boom!', he always know that she'll go where the awesomeness is. Before he could ask anymore questions, a signal showed up from the supercomputer. It had an image of a red mech, who had two horns on his head. Leo noticed this and looked at the white autobot.
"Um, sir, who's that guy?" Leo asked Ratchet, who also saw the image and got annoyed.
"Blasted Earth tech! Ratchet said, he turned to everyone else "Cliffjumper's signal just popped back online."
"Who's Cliffjumper?" Miko asked.
"How is that possible?" Optimus asked, ignoring Miko's question.
"It isn't!"
"If there's any chance Cliff's alive…" Arcee said with optimism, looking at Optimus.
"Optimus, we need to save Cliffjumper! We failed once, we can't fail again!" Blue Jacket said.
"Ratchet, prepare sick bay," Optimus said before walking away, activating his battle mask, "We may need it."
"Hey! What can we do?" Miko asked, getting Prime's attention, who gave her a simple answer.
"Remain with Ratchet."
"Aw!" She complained, wanting to go with them.
"Aw," Ratchet said, just as Miko did and activated a switch, which caused a portal to form at a device that looked like a tunnel.
"Autobots, roll out!" Optimus said and then he, Arcee, Bumblebee, Blue Jacket, and Bulkhead transformed and drove through the portal.
"Woah!" Leo exclaimed. "That was awesome!"
"What just happen?" Jack asked.
"I transported them to the designated coordinates via the Ground Bridge," Ratchet explained.
"What's a ground bridge?" Raf asked. The medic sighed in annoyance, but answered Raf's question.
"A scaled-down version of Space Bridge technology. Since we don't currently possess the means or the Energon required for intergalactic travel-"
"You're stuck on Earth." Leo said, finishing the sentence.
"With the likes of you, yes." Ratchet said, confirming Leo's statement. "But I constructed the Ground Bridge to enable travel from here to anywhere on your planet."
"Woah," Raf said looking at the Ground Bridge, "Does it work for humans?"
"Naturally." Ratchet answered.
"You mean, I could just shoot on over and visit my parents in Tokyo?" Miko asked.
"Within moments." Ratchet said before bending down and looked at her from eye level "In fact, allow me to send you there immediately, all three of you," he joked.
"Watch it, Ratchet." Miko warned.
Energon Mine
Blue Jacket and the rest jumped out of the portal, where they entered a mine. They saw a lot of vehicons doing the heavy work with the energon crystals, energon shards, and putting them in boxes.
"Energon mine..." Bulkhead said as he noticed the energon within the mine they were in.
"That's a ton of Energon." Blue Jacket said, amazed that the cons have found the jackpot before they did.
"Judging by it's scale, the Decepticons have been tunneling here for quite some time." Optimus said.
All the autobots hid behind a crystal of energon and saw multiple Vehicons using drills to mine energon, with a few used there blasters to slice a crystal of energon in half. Optimus then stood up.
"Let's find Cliffjumper."
Optimus walked towards the mine and the Vehicons immediately spotted him and aimed their blasters at him and all five autobots activated their blasters back at the Vehicons who fired their blasters at the autobots, while some of the Vehicons moved the drills and used the drills to go towards them.
The blue scout fought the cons by punching and kicking them. He also kicked their heads off, sending them to Bumblebee and Arcee, which they grabbed them and crush them with their hands.
Meanwhile back at base Miko was looking at some Cybertronian technology and pointed at it "What is this, anyway?" She asked Ratchet.
"Broken, don't touch," he answered as he walks towards the main supercomputer of the base, he noticed Miko was about to touch another piece of equipment "Don't touch that, either."
"Is there anything in here we can touch?" Jack asked.
Suddenly the supercomputer beeped as an error appeared on it "How come you guys are using human computers?" Raf asked Ratchet.
"It certainly isn't by choice," Ratchet explained "It was handed down from the previous tenants when we inherited this former missile silo, which was built during a time that your species refers to as a 'Cold war'. I make modifications as I see fit." Suddenly the supercomputer beeped again as more errors popped up on the screen of the supercomputer and Ratchet groaned as he doesn't know how to fix the errors.
"I think I can fix that " Raf said before walking away to take a laptop out of his backpack.
"Really?" Ratchet said with disbelief "you know this is complex technology, don't you? I mean, it isn't a child's toy."
Raf plugs his laptop into the supercomputer with a USB cord as Ratchet said that he didn't think that Raf could fix the supercomputer. "Now try," Raf said and Ratchet looks back at the supercomputer with the error turned into check marks, which then cleared off the screen and he looked back at Raf realized that the preteen was a genius.
"Great job, Raf." Leo said, giving the pre teen credit.
"Thanks Leo." Raf said, smiling at the teenager.
Back in the mine, a drill headed towards Bulkhead as he activated his mace, smashed the drill causing the Vehicon to jump in mid-air and Optimus then shoots the Vehicon with his blaster and then deactivated his blaster, everyone else did the same as the tons of Vehicons walked towards them with drills and without drills.
"Maximum overdrive!" Optimus said running forward and transforming into his semi-truck alternate mode and the other autobots followed. The Vehicons walking towards them that weren't using drills started shooting at them, causing them to slit up and as the Vehicons continued to shoot at them, the Autobot leader power slid at a Vehicon, then going in reverse, then power slid yet again, but towards a drill this time, the Vehicon driver fell out of the drill only to get run over by the rest of the autobots. Optimus then slid towards two Vehicons that was shooting at him, then sliding away from them after defeating them with his alternate modes, Bulkhead then ran over the Vehicons as he followed Optimus through the mine in his alternate mode.
"I can do this all day!" Blue Jacket exclaimed, transforming into his vehicle mode and ramming at the vehicons that tried to stop him.
The autobots transformed as they went deeper into the energon mine and hid behind silver colored metal boxes for cover and saw Vehicons walked up onto a platform, they also saw another Vehicon transporting energon on a minecart and even more doing the same thing.
"Bulkhead whistled as he was impressed with the mining operation that the Decepticon were using to mine energon "Quite an operation," he commented. Suddenly, the con soldiers noticed the autobots and started shooting at them, which in turn caused the autobots to shoot back at them.
While shooting with his teammates, he looked up at the ceiling and noticed Cliffjumper's body on one of the platforms.
"Arcee!" Blue said, getting the two-wheeler's attention. "Look, it's Cliffjumper!"
Once Arcee looked up, she indeed saw Cliffjumper. She then looked up at Optimus.
"I have a visual." Arcee said.
"We'll cover you. Go!" Optimus said, giving her the order and full permission to get Cliff out of the problem.
While Arcee was on her way recusing Cliffjumper, Blue Jacket got out of his hiding spot and shot the con soldiers who tried to grab her. Once that was finish, he saw that Arcee got a hold of Cliff. However, for some reason, she let go of him. Blue Jacket ran as fast as he could, trying to save Cliffjumper. But once he got close, he saw that Cliff's body was halfway missing, leaking some purple energon, and the eyes were purely dark. He stopped himself from saving Cliff, who fell in the energon spikes, getting stabbed. Blue saw this and had a sad look on his face.
After failing to save Cliffjumper, they all heard familiar laughter from a platform above them and saw Starscream "Prime! I'd stick around, but I'm squeamish." He activated a bomb before letting go and he transformed into his jet mode and flew out of the mine through the elevator shaft, while the bomb landed on between the crystal form of energon.
"The joint's gonna blow!" Bulkhead said as he saw the bomb fall between the energon.
"Autobots, roll out!" Optimus said and the autobots transformed back into their alternate mode to flee the mine as it was about to explode from an explosive.
"Ratchet, bridge us back!" Optimus said contacting his medic with his com-link, as they were fleeing the explosion "Use the arrival coordinates now!" Just then the Ground Bridge portal opened at the same location they arrived at and all five autobots entered the portal.
The Autobot arrived back at base with an explosion coming from behind and they transformed as Ratchet closed the Ground Bridge.
"Wow!" Leo exclaimed, seeing the explosion from behind the bots.
"Cutting a bit close," Ratchet then commented on their arrival back to base, "How about Cliffjumper?"
Blue Jacket looked down while walking towards the medic. "H-He... We failed to save him...
"What was that explosion?" Miko asked "Was there a fight? Can I come with next time?"
Arcee groaned as she heard Miko wanting to come with them next time they go battle Decepticons "Look," she said before Jack walked up to Miko.
"H-Hey, Miko, let's go see what the bots hide in their sock drawers."
"Seriously," was all Miko said was they walked away.
"Arcee, what did you see? Optimus asked Arcee.
"Not Cliff," she replied, wrapping her arms around her chest, "Well at least, not anymore. He was mutated, butchered like something from those 'Con experiments during the war." She then fell to her knees.
Blue Jacket and Bumblebee went to her "Cee, are you okay?" Blue asked while he and Bumblebee tried to pick her up.
"I'm fine, just dizzy," she replied.
"Robots who get dizzy?" Miko said.
"Robots with emotions." Raf said.
"Robots... With life and feelings in them. Leo said
"Robots who can die." Jack added.
Arcee sat on top of a met box as Ratchet scanned her with his scanner upwards then downwards and so on till the scanner's light flashed red as the light hovered over her left wrist, "What is this?" He asked as he noticed the purple energon on Arcee's arm.
"Don't know," she answered, "Cliff was covered in it, leaking it."
Ratchet scooped up the purple energon with a cybertron knife, "Go take a decontamination bath, now."
Bumblebee and Bumblebee helped Arcee up to get her to get decontaminated from the purple energon.
Jack was trying to phone his mother but couldn't as he got no bars "O-Optimus, I-I hate to bug, but no bars," he said showing him.
"Security precaution," Optimus explained," the silo walls isolate all radio waves."
"Well, if I don't call my mom, like, now, I'm pretty sure the cops will be out looking for me," Jack said.
"Have you broken a law?" Optimus asked him.
"Uh, curfew," Jack explained "It's after 10 PM."
"I better get home, too, or I'll be grounded for a year," Raf then said.
"Earth customs," Optimus realized "I hadn't considered. But the issue of your safety remains.
After Optimus given Jack, Raf, and Miko their autobot guardians, he looked at Blue Jacket and Leo Fowler.
"Blue Jacket, you'll go with Leo." Optimus said to the blue scout.
"Yes Optimus." Blue said, looking at Leo. "You don't mind, Leo?"
"Hmm." Leo shrugged. "Sure. Besides, dad owes me a lot right now."
Later
Blue Jacket was in his vehicle mode, giving Leo a ride back to his home. Things were getting quiet, so Leo decided to try to make pep talk.
"H-Hey, Blue Jacket." Leo said, getting his guardian's attention. "Sorry about what happen to Cliff..."
"It's fine... " Blue said sadly. "It's like... the world is taking away my partners and friends, one by one."
Leo was thinking the right words before he could say it.
"H-How many did you have?" Leo asked.
Blue Jacket took a deep breath before answering Leo's question.
"I had a team back on Cybertron... It was called the Delta Team. There was me... Firewing... Tailgate... and Arcee.
Flashback
Blue Jacket and Firewing were running down the hallways, shooting down the con soldiers. They kept on going, trying to get out of the problem they were in.
"This is not what I signed up for." The red fembot said, who had an autobot insignia on her front.
"Hey, you decided to join us because your 'friends' were giving you a hard time." Blue Jacket reminded his teammate.
"Well, yeah, but this mission was supposed to be easy. We need to save Arcee from whoever captured her and get out of here."
"Don't worry, we will." Blue said, convincing his friend/partner to stay clam.
The two partners kept on going, blasting the cons... until they saw Arcee, who was saying thanks and waving bye at two autobots, who left in a hurry. When Blue Jacket was about to give her a hug, Cee pushed him out of the way, but gently. Firewing didn't like what she saw.
"Hey! I know we were late of saving you, Arcee, but you didn't have to push your partner." Firewing said. However, the word 'partner' boiled Arcee's anger.
"Listen, F-Wing. We're not partners... Not anymore." Arcee said, calming down and walking away from her former teammates.
"What?!" "Why?!" Blue asked, shocked that Arcee just pushed him and Firewing away. However, Arcee already left, and before Blue could go after her, Firewing stopped him and pointed at an autobot's body... And Blue knew exactly who it was.
"N-...No... Tailgate..."
"Because of Tailgate's death, Arcee pushed me and my other old partner away..." Blue said, finishing his story.
"W-Woah..." Leo said, hearing the whole story. "What about Firewing?"
"S-She's in a better place as well." Leo then nodded, taking Blue Jacket's answer.
After a few minutes and explaining his story, they got to Fowler's house, where the agent was waiting for them. Leo got out of Blue's vehicle mode.
"Thanks for the lift." Leo said.
"No problem, Leo." Blue said.
"Hey Leo, head inside the house. "Fowler said. "I want to give Blue here a pep talk."
Leo nodded at his dad. "Okay, dad, but be careful of what you say... He and his friends lost someone today.
Fowler nodded at his son, who went to the house. He then went to the button, which opened up the garage door and told Blue Jacket to get inside. Once he did, the agent got inside as well.
Inside the garage of Fowler's house
"Listen, Blue Jacket..." Agent Fowler started. "I just want to say thank you for saving my son's life yesterday."
Blue Jacket transformed into his robot mode, but had himself and his knee down so he wouldn't destroy the garage and the house. "You're welcome, Agent Fowler."
"Now look, I know we haven't seen eye to eye, but I want to say thanks... And that I truly respect you and the bots."
"Y-You do?" Blue asked.
"While I think that us humans can handle the decepticon problem by ourselves, it's nice to know that Prime wasn't going to let that happen because he doesn't want any of us dying." Fowler said. "So, can you do me a favor?"
"O-Of course, Agent Fowler!"
"Keep my son safe." Fowler said. "That's all I'm asking."
"Yes, Agent Fowler. I'll keep your son safe."
"Thank you, Blue Jacket." Fowler said. Before he was about to leave the garage, he looked back at him. "I owe you one... So does Unit E." Fowler then left the garage, leaving Blue Jacket alone. The blue then went back into his vehicle mode and slept. It was kind enough for the agent to let him stay in his house, but he still had memories of his fallen friend.
'I-I'm sorry Cliff... I'm sorry for failing you twice.' Blue said in his mind.
The blue mech then went to sleep/recharge.
That was Chapter 3. So, I almost decided to let Blue Jacket stay at base with Ratchet and the kids, but I remember my promise about you guys seeing Blue Jacket into action. Don't worry, there'll be more of moments where Blue Jacket will protect Leo Fowler from harm. Also, I hope you guys enjoyed the moment of Agent Fowler giving Blue respect for saving his own son.
As for my oc, Firewing, you guys will find out more about her later.
