Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Valkyrie and the immortal. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own VK, Sega, Ryutaro Nonaka and Shuntaro Tanaka do.
Seton paused for a moment to look around. He had put nothing but distance between him and the empire… And yet still he, Alliase, and the doctor were still bathed in the cloak of winter.
"How… Much…" Seton said while shivering as he rubbed at his bare shoulders. "Further?" Seton questioned and rubbed at his arms while looking around with shock.
He kept his rifle ready still, cold or not? They were still in unknown locations. He wasn't going to give the enemy an example at the moment.
"I have an ally in the next town." The doctor put in to which Seton hummed at. "We just make it there and their give us a ride to Gallia." The doctor stated and continued walking forward.
Seton said nothing, simply curious about what would happen in Gallia. There would be no end to the amount of people eager for their abilities. He knew a lot about the land, at leas what people told him. They were training the kids to be soldiers, why wouldn't they prepare them for the road ahead at the moment.
Still? He didn't know enough to make an educated decision on what to do at the moment. There was plenty of ground left to cover, plenty of time to make a few choices along the way at the moment.
"How much do you think their want to experiment on us?" Seton questioned Alliase as they continued trekking into the snow. "You know their going to question why we aren't dying out here so easy… Why we're so powerful out here." Seton said and crossed his arms while putting his rifle on his back.
He knew for a fact that Aliasse was busy thinking of what happened. He could only ponder what happened back in the empire, things were horrible… But they had taken the duo because they were weak, because they could.
The empire didn't care about their lives. It had cared about how much of a weapon they could make.
"So, what did you do at the empire?" Seton questioned Aliasse and continued walking with her and the doctor. "I mean, what do you want to do when we get to Gallia in the moment?" Seton asked with a raised eyebrow.
Aliasse said nothing while looking at her sword and shield. Aliasse looked at him once more as Seton shrugged and started to look out once more.
"I'd like to enjoy the freedom." Aliasse said and watched Seton nod once more.
"Fair enough, that makes plenty of sense." Seton said while brushing snow off his clothes. "But we should probably keep the empire thing hidden from them… All they need is ONE thing to drag us down into the depths and keep us on a leash." Seton said, his eyes narrowing in anger.
He looked at the doctor who said nothing, there was very little to say… And even less to reflect on. They couldn't really dwell on the fact that nothing had really changed, being left in the snow meant they'd all be killed sooner or later.
"Is it much further?" Seton asked as they slid down a snow slope. "We… Have to reach the city soon or else we're going to freeze to death out here." Seton stated before the doctor pointed to another city about a few miles out.
Seton blinked in shock as he looked at Aliasse who was curious to which she pointed at once more.
She hummed as Seton and her stepped in front of the doctor in question. She looked at the Valkyrie who was busy looking at the city and the soldier who was busy looking at her.
There was hope, but it was fleeting and dangerous. They couldn't hope fully yet, to hope now? That had to simply rely on strategy and cunning, hope was far too dangerous to be used and relied on for a good amount of luck.
"This is going to be a terrible day, isn't it?" Seton said and turned to take his rifle off his back.
He got no answer. Seton didn't really expect one at the moment anyway. They wouldn't be out of danger today, if they were smart? They'd be busy fighting enemies before they knew it. No amount of stealth would save things from going bad forever.
"It might get worse, but we can only hope things become better." The doctor said while grabbing at his arm. "We're almost there." The doctor said before turning back to the city at the moment.
There would be time for that later. Seton knew very well that for now? His focus had to be on departing from this area… And everything else. Yes, that was far better then anything to which he hummed.
Seton was quite curious and pondered what happened while he curious. There would be far more monsters.
