Yo, forget about the weekly thing: I'm a mess so I'll upload when I feel like it tehe. I wanted to make something longer so here it is. Also thanks LoveTheFanfic for the review and don't worry I already planned on not giving it to him it would make Subaru useless. Tobychevy I purposely wrote the first 3 chapters short to set the bar low and see if people preferred something like that, don't worry every chapter from now on will be of a good amount.
Lastly, the way in which I write is concentrated on describing the events so I might be kinda slow or wordy, if you don't like my style I'm not stopping you from reading something else ;). That's all for now.
So, did you got any magic? Powers? Anything?" Subaru asks.
We've been walking for a while now, I tried asking him more about his life given the fact that there aren't really many things mentioned in the first season. I didn't get much of it: he told me that he didn't really have an exhilarating life, but that was about it. He didn't mention that he was a hikikomori for obvious reasons. I tried asking about his parents but he brushed the question off so I didn't get much out of it.
"Not that I know about sadly... but I do have something interesting about me" I reply "I don't feel pain, here, try to pinch me," I say raising my sleeve and offering my arm.
He gives me an unsure look and pinches me as I asked. He must be really suspicious of me because he doesn't let go for a good minute.
"Wow, you got it from being isekai'd right? Damn how come I didn't get anything!?" He says letting go of my arm.
"Actually I was born with it, it's a rare medical condition and let me tell you it's not that cool" I reply.
An interesting thing is watching others feel pain... ok that came out really bad, but it's true:
I loved Re:Zero for the realistic way in which Subaru experienced death: he didn't fear dying in itself, he feared the pain that dying provoked him, many times I told myself "What an idiot why doesn't he kill himself and retry?" But slowly I came to understand that there wasn't something wrong with Subaru: there was something wrong with me. I could just imagine the pain that he felt, the only thing that can come near pain for me is throwing up and I just feel uncomfortable nothing else.
It was interesting seeing him suffer but it also reminded me of how much of a freak I am. But then again why am I here? I mean Subaru comes from another earth, right? And this is a world of fiction...Waaaa forget it, I don't wanna become frustrated this early, carpe diem as Leo always says or something like that.
"Pftt yes of course, not feeling pain isn't easy, and next being a millionaire is difficult right?" He mocked me.
"Just forget it, it's not like you can relate" I reply pissed.
"Well it's not like you can relate either, did you ever felt what hitting your toe on something feels like?" Subaru replies.
I stay silent for a second and then start laughing, hard.
"Aahahahahahaha oof... you're right ahah I guess not feeling pain isn't that bad"
We continue walking when a male voice stops us in our tracks.
"Oy boys, those are some strange clothes, are you traveling?" The voice comes from a nearby stall. Looking at the owner I realize this is the apple guy.
He's also just like in the anime with his muscular body, green hair and beard, and unusual attire. Looking at the apples' prices I can't read them considering I don't know the language of this place.
"What are those?" Subaru asks pointing at the red fruits.
"These are appas the freshest ones in all Lugunica! Do you guys want some?" The owner reply.
Subaru, being the idiot that he is, tries to pay in yen, and well...
"...this means you're flat broke uh?! Don't interfere with my business!" He yells and shoves Subaru.
Damn people here are rude as heck... wait a minute, didn't the girl I saved gave me some coins?
I reach to my pocket and sure enough, I'm right.
"How much for two apll-I mean appas?" I ask the owner.
"Two bronze coins boy," He states, his demeanor instantly becoming friendly.
I take a look in the bag of leather the girl gave me, it turns out inside there are 10 bronze coins and 2 silver ones.
"Here ya go old man," I say lending him two bronze coins. He smiles at me and lends me two appas.
"Cya around!" I say going away with Subaru.
"Of course boy!" He replies giving me a smile and a thumbs up. I toss an appa to Subaru and begin eating mine.
"Where did you even got the money from?" Subaru asks giving a bite to his appa.
"Mh? Oh, I got it from the girl I saved before, pretty convenient eh?" I reply with a smug face.
"Eh, just you wait 'till I defeat the demon king of this world and then I'll have all the appas I want!" Subaru says enthusiastically pointing a finger at the sky.
Seriously? Wasn't he supposed to have no ambition in the anime? Whatever, these are just big words, when he'll find out about his power we'll see if he'll still talk like that.
We continue walking aimlessly, or as Subaru says "Looking for information" and shortly the "disasters" start happening.
First, he enters inside a woman's bathroom and soon exits with a paw-like mark on his face, then he enters a demi-humans-only bar and gets shoved outside, and lastly, he falls into the river near the bar.
Why did I let all of this happen? Because it was freaking funny duh.
We're now in a shady alleyway similar to the one I woke up in, waiting for Subaru's suit to dry up. My thoughts start to wander:
Why am I here? Am I supposed to relieve Subaru's incoming suffering or there is something I'm missing?
I could ask the appa-guy where the warehouse is and go trade my cellphone for Emilia's insignia... No no no I'm not that much of an asshole to steal Subaru's role.
I'm not even sure if I have some special power like Subaru or if I'm my old self... But I do feel somewhat different... I hope that appa wasn't spoiled.
Wait I once read on a site that special abilities here are given by birth... does it mean I'll never get one? It's so confusing!
"DARN IT! Wasn't I Summoned in another world? Where'd my protagonist status go?!" Subaru suddenly yells throwing me out of my mental debate.
He then proceeds to pick up his phone and turn it on.
"There's no..." I start.
"Signal..." He whimpers.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" He yells in frustration.
He starts to rant... and keeps ranting... and ranting...
"...Did she summon me only to leave me here with you?" He finishes while dejectedly looking at the ground.
"Hey first of all..." I'm interrupted by footsteps coming from the exit of the alley.
"Ehm Subaru we should..." I try to warn Subaru but...
"Is she finally here!? The cute girl who summoned... me..." Subaru stops midsentence finally noticing the trio of thugs in front of us.
They look like drug dealers: with ugly faces and cheap clothes. One is really small, with a bowl-cut and bags under his eyes, another one Is much bigger, with a hat on his head and his hair worked in two braids, his face is the exact definition of "ugly bastard". The last one is more or less normal, weren't for his blue and pink hair and chain on the neck.
Yup, we're screwed.
"What are you babbling about?" the short one asks with an annoying voice.
"If you two don't wanna get hurt, cough up whatever you've got!" the blue-pink-haired one yells picking us up from the shirt.
