Chapter 4
A/N: Hey, I'm back! I can't tell you how hard it was to work on this godforsaken chapter. Every time I sat down to write this thing, I would get pulled away to do something else. But I still made the deadline! So here's the last chapter. Enjoy.
Zuma I felt like he couldn't breathe, once again feeling like this was some nightmare, he quickly pinched himself. The after effect resulted in a swear word, but nonetheless he knew it was real...Rocky wasn't dead, but how? How could this be?! He watched him get shot and die...or acted like he was dying...son of a!
"Hey!!" Zuma yelled, standing up from behind the garbage bags. Chase's head snapped to the right so quickly that I assume he injured something, "oh shit…." he exclaimed, as he saw Zuma. He speed-limped over to them and stood in front of Rocky, all of his frustration seeped away as he grabbed Rocky and hugged him so hard, "I c-can't bb-breath…" Zuma burst out in tears as he hugged his friend, "You're alive!" He said, his voice cracking from the crying, "Not...if...this...keeps...upppp…."he whispered, running out of air. Zuma released him and stared at him, wiping the tears away from his face, his mind suddenly surged with a gazillion questions, but the only thing he could choke out was "H-hhow?!" Rocky's expression showed he was worried, Chase had the look of death on his face…( it actually would be pretty meme-worthy if the occasion wasn't what it was)
Zuma's expression quickly changed as he came to the realization that they had been up to something and he just interrupted it. "Wait a minute, you...you faked your death!" He screamed, Chase quickly ran and put his hand over his mouth, "Shhhh! Quiet Zuma!" Zuma tried to pull away his hand, but Chase's grip was strong as he clamped down around his mussel. "Mrbrmr!" Zuma mumbled, "Alright, but you've gotta be quiet!" Chase whispered. Zuma nodded in agreeance as Chase unclamped from his jaw. "What the hell is this?!" Zuma whispered, "How awe you alive? I saw you take 3 bullets to the bloody chest!" Rocky looked at him with a frown, "Listen Zuma, right now is not a good time. Everybody thinks I'm dead...and I need to keep it that way." "Why?! Wocky, don't you wealize how this huwt everyone? Poow Tundwa, she cwied hew heawt out fow you. It's only been 2 days...the wounds still fwesh, why let hew and evewyone suffew like that?" Rocky looked at him, and then looked to Chase, "He's right Chase...everyone's probably not doing great in the lookout, and the authorities already think I'm dead, would it really hurt to let the team know I'm ok?"
Chase put his hand over his mussel and thought about it, " *sigh* Okay...but we can't have you there for too long...you'll still have to sleep here." Rocky and Zuma nodded, "Zuma, you go home...don't say anything until we get there, act like nothing happened. Understood?" Zuma nodded and limped over to the storm drain walls and climbed back up them, he then drove back to the lookout and tried to enter the lookout quietly, but just as his luck had it, Tundra and Marshall were in the lobby playing Table Hockey. "Hey Zuma." Marshall called out, "hey." Zuma said back while trying to limp away as quickly as possible. He turned his head to look at them, Marshall had been trying to cheer her up, and for the first time in a while, she looked mildly...not sad. This made him feel good inside. However he didn't realize that he was staring at them, this prompted Tundra to want to conversate, "So, you gave him the lamp?" "What lamp?" Zuma asked, forgetting all about it, "Umm...Rocky's old lava lamp?" Tundra replied with a bit of confusion, "Oh no! I dwopped it at the stowm dwain!" Zuma said out loud by accident.
"Storm Drain? What are you talking about?" Skye asked, "Uhhh…" Zuma didn't know what to say. "He means when he found out I was alive." "Oh ok, thanks Rocky...ROCKY?!" Yelled Marshall, fainting over-dramatically. "Rocky?!" Yelled Tundra, "No, No this isn't real!" She started internally panicking, "Your Dead! This Is a
Dream!" "No Tundra, it's me." He went up to her and held her face compassionately, "But...how? We all watched you die…" Rocky looked at her and then Chase, "Let's get everyone to the briefing room, I owe you all an explanation."
After a complicated process of reviving Marshall, Zuma and Tundra gathered everyone to the briefing room for a "mission". They all stood, waiting for Chase to brief them, instead Rocky walked in and you could guess all of the reactions they had. After many tears and accusations of this being "unreal", they all finally calmed down enough for Rocky and Chase to explain what happened.
Chase began first, "4 Days ago...I went to visit Rocky in his cell, and while we were talking he became upset and said he was in there because he defended himself. I'm guessing he felt guilty so he apologized for it, and I told him it was okay, but that thought bothered me for the rest of the day… My friend was going to die because of advice I gave him when we were kids, I couldn't live with that. So later that night I went back to the prison when I decided to "Take a drive", I then told him about my plan."
Tundra: "B-But I watched that officer shoot you…".
Rocky: "Yeah, about that...Chase gave me a bulletproof vest to wear under my uniform."
Rubble: "But how did the guards taking Rocky to the post not feel the vest?"
Chase: "A few people on this island owe me multiple favors, and they never agreed with Rocky's sentence, so they were in on it."
Rubble: "But you attacked them."
Chase: "Not really, I just pretended to…"
Rubble: "Oh, so the beagle that shot Rocky was in on it too?"
Chase: "Um, no."
Rubble: "...so, you actually did attack him?"
Chase: "Yep."
Rubble: "Why?"
Chase: "Micheals is a prick, never liked him."
Rubble decided not to ask anything else.
Marshall: "But...the cremation?"
Chase: "Tackle Dummy from the academy."
Skye: "Www-what about the remains inside?" She asked in horrified anticipation of the following answer.
Chase: "Oh that? Just some campfire ash and chew toy bones."
Skye: "Oh thank god." She whispered, she was low-key relieved they didn't say it was some dead criminal.
Chase eyeballed her, but he didn't push the issue.
Zuma: "I'm guessing the heawse drivew owed you a favow too."
Chase: "Well...not exactly." Chase looks away from Zuma and at the door, "Alright, c'mon in!"
The door handle shifts over and then opens, as Tracker walks in. Marshall eyes practically pop out of his head as he yells, "What the heck?! I thought you said you couldn't be here!" "Sorry amigo, dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do. When I made that call, I had already flown here the day before and was at a phone booth on the island." Rubble blankly stared at Tracker, then at Chase, "Why am I not surprised that you three pulled this off?"
Zuma: "Wait a bloody second! When you wewe twying to take Wocky's stuff, you said that Tundwa wanted to take his stuff away…". He looks over at Tundra, "Wewe you in on it?"
Tundra was absolutely offended, "No I wasn't in on it!!! Are you kidding me?! Do you know the pain in my soul that I've felt for the past week?!" Zuma felt kind of bad for what he said, but he just had to piece together this mystery of a week. "I'm sowwy, youw wight, you have suffewed the most… but Chase said you wanted Wocky's stuff moved too, and it huwt me, but I wealise that you just wanted closuwe." Tundra looked confused, "What do you mean I wanted to move Rocky's stuff? I never said that… Chase?" "Yeah...sorry Zuma, I just knew you guys wouldn't question my decision if you thought it was what Tundra wanted." Suddenly Skye rose up, "Ok so I'm guessing nobody is going to address the elephant in the room." "What do you mean?" Chase asked, "You know exactly what I mean, don't play stupid Chase! How could you put all of us through what you have?! For day's we all thought Rocky was gone and never coming back...and you let us. Why couldn't you tell us that it was all fake? Do you know how we suffered?" Rocky stepped in, "Skye, don't blame Chase, he was just trying to help me. Also, when you guys were there watching my execution, we needed the reactions to be genuine, otherwise the cops not working with Chase could've sensed something wasn't right."
Skye looked at Rocky's face and her anger subsided quickly, just happy to have her friend back.
Chase said as he crossed his arms, "Any other questions of my brilliant plan? If you have them, make em' quick, cause I have to get Rocky back to the maintenance room at the storm drain."
Marshall raised his hand, "You don't have to raise your hand bro." Chase chuckled, "Your plan has worked really well so far, I'll definitely say that." Marshall said, "Thanks'" Chase exclaimed, "However, I'm a bit concerned about something…" Marshall said with a frown, "Oh? What's that?" "The authorities may think Rocky's dead, but what? Is Rocky gonna live in a janitor's closet for the rest of his life? For that, no offense Rocky, but you might as well have been shot, cause that sounds like a crappy existence to me." Rocky looked over to Chase, whose smirk faded as he rubbed his head. "I...haven't thought that far ahead… I don't know what I'm going to do." His mind became clouded and unclear as the chill of fear ran up his spine. "Just, for now… Rocky can stay with us, but make sure he's not put in an obvious spot. I have some things to think about."
Chase went outside to the garage, got in his car and drove away. Everest had been quiet the whole time, she decided it was her turn to speak, but not to the team. She quickly got up and went after him, but he had already been long gone. But Everest knew Chase all too well, so following her hunch, she got in her SUV and left. She quietly zipped down the roads under the dark night sky, after a 10 minute drive, she pulled onto a gravel road leading to a small lot near the peak of the Adventure Bay mountain. Parking next to Chase' Car, she got out and went up a small walking trail to a bench, seated on the overlook of the ocean. Chase was sitting there, deep in thought, but on hearing the noise of approaching footsteps he stood up and asked, "Who's There?" "It's me, Everest." "Oh", he said, as he slumped back down onto the bench.
She sat next to him, "How'd you know I was here?" he asked. "How wouldn't I know? This is our spot." He found the words comforting, but he frowned when saying "I guess I'm just that predictable, huh?" Everest placed her hand on his shoulder, "No, but I do know when you're hurting… I mean, thanks to you, Rocky's safe, so what's wrong?" He looked into her eyes, her beautiful icy blue eyes, full of compassion and care, he knew he could always talk to her and it made him feel good. "Rocky's safe...for now. But Marshall's right, he can't live in some hole like a hermit for the rest of his life. But if he gets seen, they'll bring him right back and he'll end up on the goddamn shooting post again, and I won't be able to save him this time." Chase clenched his fist in frustration and anxiety, "We can very well lose our friend and I just won't be able to handle that, knowing it's my fault… I don't know what to do Evy...I-...im scared." He looked off to the side, biting his knuckle, he felt cold and filled with worry. Everest moved over to him, wrapping one arm around his torso, and her other hand on the back of his neck, gently turning his head, and she kissed him. This wasn't the first time they kissed, but all of his emotions were fresh, like the first time they did this. All of the cold and worry dissolved at her loving embrace, he felt close to heaven with her, and didn't want to let her go.
However, they did separate as she wanted to encourage him. "I'm sure you'll find a way." She said to him softly, "I don't know… Judge Cornelius ruled against Rocky despite the jury and gave him the death sentence immediately, if Rocky gets caught, he's done." Chase said, Everest nodded sadly "Yeah…" But her head quickly snapped up, "Wait! What did you say the judge's name was?" "Emanuel Cornelius. He's been serving as the island's sole judge for years, why?" Chase said, "I remember Marshall said that the chimp Rocky killed was named So-and-so Cornelius."
Chase's eyes suddenly lit up, "Do you think...there's a family tie?" Everest raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Do you know anybody else on this island with a last name like Cornelius?" "If there is a family tie…then we could appeal to the courts and make the argument that Cornelius isn't a fit judge for the case." Chase stood up from the bench with the look of absolute determination on his face, you would've thought "Gonna Fly Now" would've started playing in the background. But the look quickly faded as he slumped back onto the bench, and "If Cornelius is Adventure Bay's only judge...how are we going to get actual blind justice?"
Everest paused, and thought for a moment. "Then we'll have to get Rocky out of Adventure Bay." She said, with fire in her eyes. "How? This is an island, not a peninsula, the only way out of here is through plane or boat." Chase said, "Well lucky for us, we have an outstanding pilot and sailor on our side." She smirked, causing Chase to smile as he thought of how they could actually pull this off. He suddenly stood up, "Well c'mon then, what are we waiting for?" He excitedly picked Everest up and ran with her back to the cars as they both laughed.
Taking the lead, Chase drove ahead of Everest, always looking back to make sure she was behind him, considering she had the slower vehicle. They descended the mountain and drove into town, Everest shifted in front of Chase. After zipping through the streets, they crossed the bridge...but something wasn't right. As Chase followed Everest, her brake lights flashed brightly as they both slowed down to a stop on the bridge. He pulled up next to her as they opened their windows. "What's wrong?" He asked, raising his voice, but not quite yelling. "Is that your interceptor?" She asked with concern, Chase squinted and eventually saw the car. "No, I have a Tahoe, that's a Crown Vic." "Well then what's it doing here?" She asked, "I don't know...do you see a number on it?" Everest, having the better night vision, searched the car's livery, until she found on the rear panel, she said, "Unit #738". "That's Odis Micheal's car...what's he doing here?" "Who's Odis Micheal?" She asked, "That's the officer that shot Rocky." Chase replied "I don't know why the hell he's here, but it's not good...he can't find out about Rocky."
Chase pulled off towards the lookout, and after parking, he ran inside with Everest right behind him. Odis was standing in the lobby speaking with Marshall, "Oh, uh...there he is now." Marshall said, pointing to Chase as he walked in the door, Odis turned around and with a straight face and addressed Chase in a formal manner. "Good evening, Mr Delgado." "Mr? I'm an officer too, you know." Chase cracked sarcastically, "Maybe not for long, you attacked me a few days ago and I might have the chief look into it…". Chase already knew what Otis wanted, and he was going to say it in 3, 2, 1,... "Unless...there's an apology made." Odis smirked, Chase rolled his eyes and sighed. He didn't have the time or patience for this, but at the same time he just wanted Odis out. Trying hard to swallow his pride, Chase grinded his teeth as he dreaded the thought of humbling himself in front of Otis, what he really wanted to do was pound him out again...but Rocky was in danger, and Chase needed to protect his friend. Otis could see how much Chase was cringing, which is what made it so much sweeter to make him apologize, Chase sighed deeply and swiped his hand down his face and then finally he said, "Alright...Otis, I deeply apologize for attacking you in the line of duty, my actions were blind and misguided…". Now Chase really started falling apart, knowing what he had to say next, "C-can you…*swears underneath his breath* F-fforgive me?" He said, as he half smiled, his left eye twitching. "Hmm...okay, I forgive you, and the chief doesn't have to know about this." Chase rolled his eyes again, 'God...Odis is such a child.' He thought, "Oh, by the way, is there a bathroom I can use?" Odis asked, Chase inaudibly growled, now Odis was pushing it, but his friend's life was more important. "Yeah...buddy… right over there." He said with a fake grin.
Odis nodded and walked towards the bathroom, but it was locked, "Oh, who's in here?" "Must be Rubble." Chase said casually, "Did someone say my name?" Rubble said as he walked in the lobby, followed by Skye, Tracker and Zuma. A chill went up Chase' spine. If Everest, Marshall, Rubble, Tracker, Zuma and Skye were here...Rocky must be in the bathroom. And the door was noise cancelling, (because really, who wants to hear or be heard in the bathroom?) so Rocky could come out at any second. Chase internally panicked thinking of what to do, Everest picked up on it and quickly went up to Otis, "Hey...I'm so sorry, but Chase forgot to tell you that this bathroom is having issues right now, we have a plumber coming in the morning." She said it so calmly that nobody could tell she was nervous. "Omg, that's right, sorry Oty, my bad." Chase said as he went along with it, "Oh ok, that's fine, I'll just head out then. Bye everyone." They all smiled and waved as they realised what was going on, he opened the door to walk out and suddenly "CLICK" the bathroom door swung open as Rocky stepped out, smiling "Sorry I took so long guys. But the stupid sink water just wouldn't warm up." The team looked horrified as Otis turned around, "Holy Shit! What kind of sorcery is this?! You're dead!" Rocky jumped as he ran off with Tundra. Otis started following him, Chase put out his leg and tripped him, making him fall on his face. Otis turned around and kicked Chase back. Chase fell to the floor with a loud thud as Otis yelled into his radio, "Precinct 1, this is Officer Micheal! Send backup to the PAW Patrol Lookout Tower, Officer Delgado has gone Rouge! I repeat, Rouge Cop! I need assis-AHHH!" Otis yelled as Chase threw him across the room. Landing hard, Otis drew his gun. Chase grabbed his hand and pointed it up in the air as he fired, sending bullets flying into the air. Chase snatched his gun away and pistol whipped him in the back of the head, putting him out. He heard the screeching of tires as he looked out the window to see a hunter green Nissan GTR peeling down the road.
Chase growled furiously as he realised that the plan now had to take place, and there could be absolutely no mess ups, or his friend would have to die. "Skye! C'mon!" Skye looked at him in a daze, trying to take what just happened. She ran with him and jumped in his car, they sped down the road, gunning it at 170 MPH and climbing. Skye grabbed the handholds, nervously. Despite her being a pilot and doing an average of 400 MPH, that was in the air, where there's nothing to crash into, but here on the roads, everything flew by so fast. Chase seemed unfazed by this as he only went faster, the sound of sirens became louder in the distance as police cars swerved behind them and began pursuing them. They flew through the town streets, Chase was trying to think of how to find Rocky while also losing the cops. "Okay….Skye, I'm gonna do something...crazy. When I tell you to get out, you run, get to the airport by any means necessary and prep your plane, we have to leave. Tonight." "What're you going to do?" She asked, nervously, "I'm gonna find Rocky…now hang on." Chase yanked his steering wheel to the right, throwing the car into oncoming traffic, "AHHHH! YOUR GONNA KILL US!" Skye screamed as Chase dodged cars, buses and trucks. The Police cars following him swerved out of the way, two of them spun out, one went on the sidewalk as people screamed, and the last one hit a dumpster. Chase ducked into an alleyway and stopped the car, "Ok, now get to the airport!" "You're crazy, you know that?!" Skye yelled, "Yes I know! Now get the hell out!" He said. Taking no offense, Skye got out of the car and yelled for a taxi while Chase sped off through the other side of the alley.
Now driving alone, Chase thought to himself, scanning where Rocky could be. He knew that once he saw the cops, he would hide...but they never got a chance to establish where he would go when this happened...wait a minute, yes they did. How could he be so stupid? Slamming on his brakes, he turned the car around and gunned it down the road. Looking around, Chase slowed his racing thoughts, and acknowledged just how big Adventure Bay had really become. Once upon a time, this was a little town by the water, a few storefront buildings, a population so small, they literally knew everyone in town by heart. Those were simpler times, but now everything was different. Those few storefronts had been bought out and demolished, the roads were reconfigured, bigger buildings were built up, highways were constructed for a new flow of traffic, residentials were built, grasslands were bought up and built upon. The island had become a small city, it reminded Chase of his early life in Brooklyn. With the new crowd of people moving to Adventure Bay, the population starting going up, when it was just the original residents, everyone was nice and kind. These new people, coming from the mainland were rude and impatient, not all of them, but a lot of them. This caused First Response to have to go up, this brought in the bigger hospitals and clinics, Firehouses and teams had to be brought in. 5 Police Precincts had to be placed around the island, and that's why Rocky was in the situation he was in right now. That chimpanzee Rocky killed was part of the new crowd that moved in, and it doesn't help that bars were also built in town.
Rocky was biking through town looking at the buildings they had recently constructed, he had actually been asked for input on their design structure. He was Adventure Bay's leading architect, while riding through town, he was distracted while looking up, he didn't notice that he was drifting off of the sidewalk and slammed into a parked convertible. Hitting the car, he flew off his bike and landed on the sidewalk, blacking out. When he regained consciousness, he woke up to the sound of a car alarm going off and a small crowd around him. A bear standing in the crowd picked him up off the floor, "Hey, you okay?" "Uhh…" Rocky groaned, he held his head in his hands, "I think I'm good, thanks." He said dizzily. Suddenly, there was loud yelling coming from behind him, Rocky turned around to see an angry chimpanzee storming towards him. "WHAT THE F* IS THIS?!" He screamed. Rocky, still dizzy, put two and two together and looked over at the car, there was a huge dent, almost slit shaped, in the front bumper. "Oh...I'm so sorry sir, I'll pay for that." Rocky said lowly, "DAMN RIGHT YOU WILL!" The chimp said as he punched Rocky across the face. Rocky fell back, as dull, hard pain overwhelmed the left side of his mussel. "What was that for?! I said I'd pay you for your damage!" Rocky screamed, getting up. "Fine, I'm gonna beat the s* out of you for my inconvenience, then I'll take the money." The chimp said, "The hell you will…" Rocky said, growling fiercely. The chimp swung at him over and over, but kept missing, "Leave me alone!" Rocky yelled while dodging. But he kept swinging his fists determined to hit him, "Last Chance!!!" Rocky screamed, nervousness in his voice, of course, the chimp didn't heed the warning. Rocky closed his eyes as he spun around and extended his leg, fast and decisively, copying his icon, Bruce Lee. Chase would've been proud of that kick.
Rocky thought he would kick the guy in the stomach, knocking him back and giving him enough time to run and get a phone to call the police. But instead he heard a snap, a sound so loud and eerie, his heart filled with dread and fear, his stomach twisted in knots before he even opened his eyes. When he did open them, he looked at the chimpanzee, his head pointed upwards like he was looking at something in the sky, but instead he fell back on the floor. Lifeless. His body jittered and jumped as his nervous system began to shut down. A woman screamed as he heard someone dial their phone, Rocky stood in absolute shock, not trying to run away.
Chase thought about this as he hammered down the road, taking corners with precision and speed, desperately racing to find his friend first before it was too late. But where could he be? They never had established a plan of action in case this happened...wait. Actually, they did. The storm drain. The place they chose when they decided to fake Rocky's death. Already being near there as if he subconsciously drove himself there, he rounded corners as he came near to the bridge crossing the storm drain. But he suddenly slammed on his brakes and shut off his headlights. The bridge was teeming with interceptors and officers, they appeared to be from all over the island. 'They called in all units just for little, old me? I'm flattered.' Chase thought to himself, but his smug thought quickly shattered as he realized that they were here...at the hideout. They found him.
How? How were they here? How did they know? How did they find Rocky? Wait...it all made sense. Sure, Chase shook the cops after him, but no more came after him...because they were after Rocky, they must have followed him there. He had to see what was going on, but he couldn't just walk in there and-...Actually, yes he could.
Throwing on his spare uniform that he had in the back along with some yellow night shades, he ducked into the barricade of Police on the bridge. He acted like he belonged there, walking with presence and authority, so no one questioned him. Looking over the bridge and into the trench (stormdrain) Armored Trucks were deployed with SWAT units. He suddenly heard some commotion down below and looked, there were two SWAT officers with Rocky and Tundra. They were handcuffed and being led into the trucks, Chase had to act fast. If they put them into the trucks, that was it, he had no way of getting to them. Acting fast, he grabbed a case next to him and opened it, finding grenades, explosives, and tear gas. He grabbed the tear gas grenades and lobbed them over the side, they formed huge gas clouds immediately. With the gas mask he grabbed, he ran to a nearby ladder and quickly climbed down. In the smoke, the two SWAT officers searched for the truck, Chase grabbed Rocky and Tundra by the arms and ran with them.
They ran blindly with Chase leading them through the thick smoke, of which was now dissipating. They didn't yell or scream, not quite knowing what was going on. Chase forced them up the stone incline and to his car. He dropped the passenger seat and seated Tundra in the back quickly as he raised it and stuffed Rocky inside. "What the hell is going on? Who's taking us and where are we going?!" Tundra yelled "SHHH! it's me… Chase, be quiet." He loudly whispered as he revved his car to life, U-Turned and peeled away. "Hey! Where'd they go?!" They were far gone.
"That was awesome! Even though my eyes hurt like a motherflower and I can't see." Rocky exclaimed, "Yeah, it was nothing." He said, as they quietly sped down the road, they didn't say much as they were trying to recover their eyes. But soon enough, Tundra asked "So… what are we going to do now?" "Well, me and Everest talked it over." Chase began, "We're gonna fly you out of Adventure Bay and get you some actual justice, in the higher courts." Rocky looked confused, "What do you mean actual justice? I was sentenced to death by the judge in the court of law." Chase shook his finger, "Not so, my friend, it turns out that the judge wasn't fit to serve." Both Rocky and Tundra's eyebrows went up, "Why?" "Because the man you defended yourself against was related to the judge, closely related. He was his uncle." Tundra's eyes lit up as hope coursed through her veins. For once, really feeling like they could make it out of this, live their life together without the impending threat of her boyfriend being hauled away for a crime he wasn't guilty of.
It felt wonderful. They sped down the small road, covered by trees in the darkness of the night with only the moon's cold light piercing through the branches. The poorly lit and run down airfield came into view, with its abandoned air hangers, beat up runway and rusty parts everywhere. It was a time capsule, preserving the 40's time period. A pink and grey seaplane was parked on the runway, it's engine idling and lights turned on. The door was open as a pilot sat waiting in it, Chase was relieved she hadn't just panicked and went home, but then again, that was never Skye's personality. Sure, things hadn't worked out between them romantically, but he didn't feel any resentment towards her, she had become his wing-girl, always there to help when he needed it. And she was fearless, like him. She never ran from danger when it came to her team. And he loved that about her.
He drove around the iron fence down to the entrance way, but...what was…? "BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM" Bullets smashed through Chase' windshield and he swerved behind crates. "RRRRrrr." Chase growled as he held his tender shoulder, bleeding from it as it had been grazed. He looked back and yelled " Are you guys okay?" Rocky held his bleeding ear while groaning out a yes, Tundra was cut from the shattered glass but was okay. Chase opened his door and drew his gun, he looked expecting to see SWAT armed with machine guns pointing at them. But it was one person, the figure was dark and was holding a pistol. "POLICE! DROP YOUR GUN AND PLACE YOUR HANDS OVER YOUR HEAD!" Chase yelled, "Oh please, Delgado! You're no cop! You're a fugitive yourself!" Oh no, that voice, it was Otis. "Otis?! What the hell are you doing?!" Chase yelled, "My job!" He screamed back. "That's not how you do your job! You just fired into a car filled with unarmed civilians you stupid ass!" Chase yelled "Civilians, bullshit! Those are fugitives, one of them belongs right back on death row!"
This angered Chase, "Otis! I'm giving you one last chance to leave now, because if I come out behind these boxes, I will kill you! You wont hurt my friends! I won't let you, or anybody!!!" "Aww, we've got a family man...DOESNT MATTER CHASE, YOUR TEAM ARE ALL GUILTY AND I'M GONNA KILL THEM ALL AND BE A HERO FOR IT...well, almost all of them. That little hussy you've got sure is fine, I think I'll keep her for myself. But don't worry, I'll make sure she'll go through the proper legal trial, I'll probably handcuff her... and lay down the law." Chase snapped, he ran out behind the crates and shot Otis hand, making him drop his gun. Otis yelled out in pain as Chase threw his own gun to the ground, he wanted to do this...personally. He ran to Otis and winded back his right hand, throwing his killer punch. He struck with all of his might at Otis face, there was a deafening thud as he hit his face, followed by a slight crunch. Otis flew back and landed on the ground yelling out in pain, his jaw hanging down with blood seeping from the sides, he put up his hands to defend himself. But that was only waving a red flag in front of a bull, Chase charged at him and threw blows at him, repeatedly and mercilessly, fast and hard. Otis cried out with every hit. Chase hammering down on him with no mercy in his heart, only the black venom bubbling to the surface, fueling his every hit and move. Reliving every bad moment he ever experienced in his life, taking out his rage on anyone who ever hurt him and he couldn't defend himself against. Striking every person repeatedly, beating them down as well. He wanted to keep going, keep destroying this son of a bitch who angered him so much, who made his life as an officer hard. But he came back mentally, the demon inside of him who came out to defend him retreated away as he took control again. He stopped, scanning Otis to see if he was still there...but there was nothing. There was no movement, no breathing, no pulse, no...life.
Chase, for the first time in a while felt...scared. Scared, that he had just taken someone's life. Sure, he didn't like Otis, but he never wanted to kill him. He didn't hate him. Fear entrenched itself in him as he realised that he made a terrible mistake, the mistake being that be had just done what he swore never to do. To use everything he had to hurt someone, his power, his strength, his speed and his anger. Was too much for anyone to handle...and he had just used it on a guy way weaker than him. Someone that could've never been on the same level as him. He felt horrible, but he didn't know what to do...he had to leave. And he obviously couldn't call the Police or hospital. After that, everything blurred out and he closed his eyes.
He woke up in the air, over the ocean. Skye in the front seat. He was in the back sitting next to Tundra and Rocky. His arm, Rocky's ear, and Tundra's face had been bandaged. They were on their way to somewhere, where they were going, he didn't know. But he knew that whatever happened, they would all be in it together, because he was their leader, and he would die protecting them.
