That's partly why I have the Imperials focused on the east and west coast of the USA. When he comes back later with more Ad-Mech people and supplies then Thrax can turn his focus onto other areas such as the Pitt or the Commonwealth upon his return.

The 13th Black Crusade will turn out different as Thrax has already changed events simply by existing, but it seems best for him to assume the Great Rift will still happen and to plan for it.

If Machine Spirits are real then how does Tau tech work? They don't perform the rituals and their stuff will work for humans.

Besides he's a power psyker so if there are Machine Spirits he can control them without even trying.

I try to finish stories but its very hard to write for a story if I don't feel inspired to.

It would be boring if the Imperials simply did the same thing they did on Planetos.

Yes he can decide when he arrives as the warp is outside of the normal flow of time, but since this is the warp were talking about it might not work out right.

I don't think that would work because it would screw things up with the First Ones if the Earth Alliance was a more powerful group. Then The Earth-Minbari War might not happen or it could work out differently with no Babylon 5 being created. That could result in the Shadows and the Vorlons destroying all civilization.

Rogue Trader knows this and wouldn't want to mess up those events. Plus the Vorlons wouldn't like outsiders messing with their circle and they do have the kind of fire power needed to destroy an IOM cruiser.

You can always imagine that Palatine Brigicia or Colonel Gwynenya Ionael look exactly like Jennifer Connely I can the SI mention it at some point.

Checking out the seed vault is a good idea. He's got a big ship so maybe he should set up a garden if nothing else it will give Dany something to do. I never heard of the Arctic World Archive I'll go check it out.

Rogue Trader CYOA Story 2

You will shoot your enemy once, to ensure he fights no more that day! You will shoot traitors twice, to ensure nothing less than their deserved death! - Lord Governor Charleston

Part 4

Nellis Air Force Base. The Mojave Wasteland.

Colonel Gwynenya Ionael stepped out of the Arvus Lighter, which was is a small, general purpose cargo shuttle that is widely used by the Imperium of Man for many tasks, both in space and on the surface of planets, and stepped on to the tarmac of the air force base that her forces had taken mere hours ago. It had been decided that the Imperial expedition required a greater military presence in this world and the Rogue Trader had selected the air force base.

According to the information that had been shared with her the Nellis Air Force Base was a pre-War United States Air Force base which was once the United States Air Force warfare centre and while Ionael didn't know exactly what that meant she figured that this base had been a very important location. Given what was happening here it would soon again be important.

Many years after the Great War it became the home of the Boomers, a xenophobic group who were originally inhabitants of somewhere called Vault 34. Once settled here they used the remaining defensive structures and their own stockpile of heavy arms, to keep any strangers away from this place using extreme violence.

Not that this had mattered much to the Imperials. While the defences of the Boomers had been quite capable of keeping out savages and scavengers. Sadly for the Boomers the Imperials had been able to drop people directly down into the base under the cover of darkness. This had allowed the 2nd Thrax Regiment to take the base with little in the way of losses. Those that hadn't died fighting would be put to work somewhere far from here under the watchful eyes of their new masters.

Now it would be the 2nd Thrax regiment using those defences to keep outsiders away. Not that the Colonel planned to have the soldiers under command simply defending this place. She would be sending out teams to deal with threats and recover any technology of value. Their time here was limited, and so the Colonel planned to get as much done as possible.

"Good afternoon Colonel" said Major Lutherus Gemim her second in command, who wasted no time in making her report "As far as we can tell the base is mostly self-sufficient, the savages were growing its own crops using water pumped in from a nearby lack. That won't be near enough to support a proper garrison, but it will help".

Keeping the base supplied would be the problem of whatever officer she left in charge here, most likely the major, as she wanted to return to the east as soon as possible there were still a lot of operations going on over there, and she didn't want to miss out. The fight against the super mutants was going well and the Colonel wanted to be the one to drive them back to whatever hole they'd come from before she destroyed whatever it was down that hole. Aside from that there were still plenty of raiders and dangerous creatures that needed to be dealt with.

"I want this place operational as soon as possible" said Ionael as she began her inspection.

Looking around she could see the most obvious structures were the control tower and the hangars to the west. There were two unused runways that stretched parallel to each other over in the east, and they took most of the space within the base's perimeter. Once repaired they could be used by the support craft of the Imperials and the vertibirds that the cogboys had been fixing up.

"Colonel, Major!" a scout called out "We found something while scouting out the area".

What the scouts had found turned out to be two Brotherhood of Steel paladins who looked to have been shelled to death while trying to scout out this base.

"So there's a chapter out here" said the highest ranking Imperial Officer.

The Brotherhood Chapter that the Imperials were allied with hadn't been in contact with their fellows in this part of the world for some time, and while the Brotherhood Chapter under the command of Elder Lyons had welcome the Imperials the same might not be true for the other chapters. As long as they didn't interfere with Imperial operations the Colonel didn't much care what the Brotherhood got up to and if the Lord Captain wanted to make contact with the local chapter that was up to him. In her view it would be better to keep the Rogue Trader out here in the east where a diplomat and trader could be of better use to Imperial efforts. Thrax should be meeting with the NCR this very day as part of his duties.

"Find somewhere to store to the bodies" the major ordered "And don't touch their equipment".

If Lord Thrax did wish to try talking with the local Brotherhood Chapter than he would want these bodies since returning them with their armour and weapons intact could be considered a gesture of goodwill by the Elder of the chapter. If not well the Enclave had the better equipment and she felt sure that she'd not finished dealing with them.

NCR Embassy. New Vegas.

Like any good boy I did my homework before meeting with the NCR ambassador. I'd focused on what I could remember and looked over the intelligence that my Master of Whispers had been able to put together in an impressively short amount of time.

Thanks to that I knew that The NCR supports old world values, such as democracy, personal liberty, and the rule of law. It also aims to restore general order to the wasteland, and works towards the improvement and development of infrastructure, economic systems, and overall they claim to want peace between all peoples. Noble things to strive for, but reality tended to crush such idealism.

Their continued expansion has created challenges for the NCR who are having issues with territorial control, maintaining the loyalty of its citizens, and there quite a bit of corruption that plague the Republic, which serves to hinder its goals. The NCR is often criticized by other factions for being imperialistic, poorly managed and over-extended. Some people think it is foolish for them to attempt to hold onto the very old world values that led to nuclear holocaust in the first place.

I could see how the NCR would be over extended and have trouble maintaining its supply lines. Something I'd kept in mind when making my first offer to them and sending them samples of the lasguns I was willing to sell them. I also had ideas on how to help them with their infrastructure.

Under the terms of the New Vegas Treaty, the New California Republic (NCR) was able to establish an embassy on the Strip to resolve and negotiate issues with Mr. House. Not that these efforts ever got very far since Mr House didn't met with people, at least not directly, likely I'd gotten closer than anyone else had in years.

The NCR Embassy that I am currently visiting was compound consists of two buildings, including the embassy itself and the NCR Military Police Headquarters a place I no desire to visit as my business here was with the ambassador not with the military, at least not directly.

From what my Master of Whispers had told me, Ambassador Crocker began his political career as a mayor back in the NCR sometime before 2261, and worked his way up through the ranks. Which was why he had his current position. Crocker is a strong believer in diplomacy and hopes to unite the Mojave Wasteland under the NCR peacefully. Not that this was likely to happen since I intended to support an Independent Vegas under the rule of Mr House.

"Your Excellency" greeted Ambassador Crocker as I came into his office "It is good to see you again".

He hadn't been so friendly during out first meeting. Back then he hadn't seen what I was offering. Also he'd been rather busy as that asshole in charge of the Legion had recently died, because I'd gotten Black Widow to kill him, and as predicted the Legion was breaking up into gangs who were attacking each other more than anyone else. I had my assassin working down a list of Legion officers to ensure that none of them once the legion's civil war and took over.

"Ambassador Crocker" I said "I take it your people have had the chance to look over what I am offering".

Before the ambassador could formulate a reply I took a seat in front of his desk as my bodyguards took positions in and outside of the room.

"Yes your Excellency" Crocker replied.

I don't why he called me that. I had many titles and that wasn't one of them, but I could be considered a foreign diplomat, so perhaps it did make some sense.

"As you can imagine our military leaders are eager to purchase a large supply of your lasguns" Crocker let me know "I confess that I don't fully understand why".

It was because the NCR generals understood about the need for Boots, Beans, Bullets, and Bandages. What matters most to an army is not its grand plans for winning wars or even the courage of its fighting men, although this do have a place, what matters most of all is logistics. The armies with the best supplies and means of getting those supplies to the fighting men will win wars because they can keep fighting while their enemies run low on everything needed to support their troops in the field.

This was why the average Imperial guardsmen had a lasgun, because those weapons don't require massive piles of ammunition to be moved around nor do they require much in the way of repair work or effort to maintain. The power cells of a lasgun can be easily recharged and the weapon will keep firing in an environment where a projectile weapon will jam.

The NCR controlled a lot of land and they needed to protect what they controlled, and the lasguns I planned to sell them would help with that. They'd learn to make their own before long as the design wasn't complex and would stop buying from me, but by then I'd be done with this world.

Smartly I wouldn't be selling them any lascannons or other heavy weapons as I wanted to make sure that I maintained an advantage when it came to heavy weapons, so they would have to be satisfied with lasguns, laspistols and laser sniper rifles.

There were things I wanted from the NCR, the ability to send an Ad-Mech team in to inspect HELIOS One would be nice. I could have HELIOS One taken by force, however making an enemy of the NCR was not wise as they had the means to make it very hard for the expedition to operate in this part of the world. As such it just made more sense to befriend them.

"I'm glad to hear that" I said to Crocker "Now let's discuss what you are willing to trade for a good supply of my laser weapons".

What followed from those words could be hours of talk as the ambassador tried to get as much in the way of material support from me while giving as little back as possible. Thankfully I had some experience with these sort of talks so I should be able to avoid getting ripped off.

Laser weapons would just be the start. I could cheaply produce armour and other bits of equipment their fighting men needed. What I figured the NCR would pay most for was the Ad-Mech to come along and build new factories and homes for the NCR's people, but that would have to wait since the cyborgs would be rather busy for the foreseeable future.

Outcast Outpost. The Capital Wasteland.

As soon as the lift opened I knew that there had been a firefight here even without the dead bodies and marks on the walls or the strange tension in the air, I would have known because it had been reported to me by a Magos of the Adeptus Mechanicus long before I'd entered this building. Since I'd played the Fallout 3 game I could make a good guess as to what had happened here.

Since this involved former members of the Brotherhood of Steel I'd deemed it wise not to bring Sarah Lyons along with me. While the Outcasts had betrayed her and her father she likely knew them all on a personal level, and as such would not wish to see their corpses. Not that I wanted to see more dead bodies, I just had to.

The Adept in charge here was called Thea Maxanid and while she answered to the Archmagos, and the Ad-mech were my allies not my followers, she'd asked to see me in person as such I figured that the matter she wanted to bring to my attention had to be important. I knew that this Magos was a woman as while her voice was broadcasted via some implant it still seemed female and her augmentation hadn't gotten to the point that it covered up all signs of gender.

"Magos can you tell me what happened here" I requested.

She did so without delay.

"Yes, Lord Captain" she said "My team and I were surveying a location not far from here for recyclable materials when we discovered a call for aid".

The manufacturing devices on board my cruiser were capable of producing a wide range of goods and spare parts that were needed to not only maintain my vessel, they were also required to support our allies on this world. To do this the machines required a large amount of raw materials and while there were mining operations being set up on Mars for now we were focused on recycling as much as possible. Besides if we were going to build a proper Imperial city here a lot of junk needed to be cleared away.

"I assume you thought them to be members of the Brotherhood of Steel" I said.

They had been at some point as these were Brotherhood Outcasts, which were a splinter faction of the Brotherhood of Steel that broke ties with Elder Lyons' group who were working out of the Citadel. The Outcasts attribute their departure to their belief that Elder Lyons had lost sight of the Brotherhood's true mission and the original reason for their presence in the Capital Wasteland which I knew to be the recovery and preservation of advanced pre-War technology.

Dissatisfied with Lyons' focus on aiding the local populace of the Capital Wasteland, a contingent of Brotherhood members led by Henry Casdin absconded from the Citadel in the dead of night, taking weapons and advanced technologies with them. Led by Casdin, the dissidents traveled north and eventually took up residence at Fort Independence, where they pushed back the indigenous raider groups and secured the pre-War installation as their headquarters.

Although denounced as traitors by the East Coast Brotherhood, the Outcasts view themselves as the opposite; in the Outcasts' eyes, they remain true to the Brotherhood of Steel and it was Elder Lyons who betrayed what the Brotherhood stands for. The Outcasts believe that their actions will be vindicated when they reunite with the main Brotherhood forces on the West Coast. Until that day, the Outcasts continue to uphold the Brotherhood's mission and scour the Wasteland, reclaiming pre-War sites in search of valuable technology,

"Yes my Lord" confirmed the Magos "I lead my fellow Tech Priests and Skitarii into battle against the mutant forces who were engaged with what at the time I assumed to be a group of Brotherhood warriors".

I knew the Skitarri were the techguard of the Adeptus Mechanicus they were deadly cyborg warriors, more than a match for the super mutants.

"Only later did I learn that these were the Outcasts that Brotherhood Chapter warned us about" Thea Maxanid let me know "Yet they when they asked for my help in recovering some important lost technology I decided to aid them".

This didn't shock me since offering up lost tech to Adapt is like tempting a starving wolf with fresh meat. Also, while Elder Lyons had warned us about the Outcasts he'd expressed empathy towards them and downplayed how dangerous they could be.

"We were invited here and I discovered that The Outcasts have, or rather had, set up in the remains of this VSS Facility, which is to say a pre-War compound of Virtual Strategic Solutions" I was informed "They hoped to recover the combat gear stored in the VSS Armory and whatever else they could get their hands on. I was offered a share of technology in exchange for my assistance".

That should have been a simple deal and one the real Brotherhood would have honoured.

"While we prepared to remove the barrier to the storeroom with plasma torches one of my fellow tech-priests examined the rest of the base" Thea Maxanid was now telling me "Their previous efforts to open up the storage room involved a native who they tortured into compliance. They tried to reason with him at first to recover his Pip-Boy 3000 but this failed. The Outcasts then proceeded to attempt to remove it forcefully, as can be read in the interrogation log we recovered".

This didn't bother me since I'd done bad things to people in order to get what I wanted.

"I assume that this discovery alerted you to the fact that the these Outcasts might turn on you" I said "It looks as if you dealt with them easily enough".

With me at her the red robed women began to walk with over to storeroom past the dead bodies which were already being stripped off their armour and weapons by servitors. What the Ad-Mech would do with the bodies, if anything, was best not thought about.

"I anticipated a high chance of betrayal and monitored the Outcasts as they talked" the member of the machine cult replied "Just before an argument between the Outcasts turned to violence I had the Skitarri under my command kill them all".

She didn't need to explain to me why this news effected me. On my to do list was a meeting with Protector Casdin over at Fort Independence. I planned to arrange a deal between the Outcasts and the House Thrax to trade a supply of laser weapons, power armour and anything else that I could easily manufacture for them in exchange for useful information or any exotic technology that they might be willing to give up.

The fact that the Imperium and the Outcast would now be hostile to each other meant that I would have order an attack on Fort Independence so that the Outcasts don't become a pain in my ass later on. Since the Outcasts had power armour and some energy weapons they'd be able to put a decent fight and I didn't want to simply level Fort Independence because of the technology they might have inside their little club house. So I'd lose some men during an attack.

"Unfortunate" I said "However you did the right thing. These Outcast types clearly can't be trusted".

By now we'd arrived inside the storeroom so I could see some of goodies on display. There was a Gauss rifle, what I thought of as a shocksword, a set of Chinese stealth armour and the set of Winterized T-51b power armour took most of the room simply by drawing the eye to it.

"Upon speaking with the Archmagos we have decided to offer House Thrax some compensation for the loss of any profits you could have made by allying with the Outcasts" the red robed cyborg let me know "I estimated a high probability that if offered the chance you would take possession of this sword which seems to be an earlier version of what we would call a power sword".

The priest of Mars went on explain that this was the personal weapon of General Jingwei, the military commander of the Chinese forces in Anchorage during the Great War. In appearance it was quite similar in design to a Jian straight sword but with an integrated electric discharge device. Electrodes running across the blade release a powerful electric shock on contact with the target, both organic and synthetic.

"This sword can be altered so that it will be more suited to a Rogue Trader" said the Magos.

Near the hilt was some sort of symbol that would need be replaced with a nice skull or something else more Imperial.

"I'm surprised that the Archmagos would so freely gift me such a find even if it is maintain our profitable alliance" I said.

While Thea Maxanid's face was hidden by some sort of mask I could still tell that she was smirking.

"The Archmagos will most certainly rise higher in the ranks of the Priesthood upon our return" said the red robed cyborg "But only if you keep the expedition here".

What the Adapts recovered while here wasn't my property as they were my allies not my servants. I'd be compensated of course, but it would Del Arx who got most of the credit, so naturally he would want to me to stay here as long as possible and fully support the expedition. Most of the tech I claimed with too much help from the Ad-Mech would end up their property anyway once I traded it in. The machine lovers would no doubt give me lavish rewards.

"Thank you for the sword" I said as a servitor handed it over to one of my battle harem "Now if you'll excuse me I have other matters to attend to".

The rest of the Brotherhood Outcast for starters.

"Lord Captain if you are going to attack the Outcast's base of operations I should come with you" requested Thea Maxanid "They will have automated defences and security measures that I can assist you with. In exchange I only ask that you allow to pick out one or two items for me to examine".

Her request made sense. Having uncovered the technology here will have earned her much respect from her peers and if she found more rare bits of tech her star would rise even further. I didn't mind sharing as keeping the Ad-Mech people who I worked with happy with me was worth the price of losing a few trinkets.

"Very well Magos" I said "I have a shuttle nearby so we can stop off at the base before heading out to Fort Independence. Grab everything of value and load it up".

I wanted this business with the Outcasts dealt with as soon as possible and the cogboys could sort out the tech found here in their own time if they wished to come back.

Fort Independence. The Capital Wasteland.

As I stepped off the shuttle and into what must have once been a parking lot for those who worked at the fort before the booms dropped I delighted in how easy it was to move around in my new armour. This set of armour had started off as something taken from an Enclave officer and then modified for my use, not in terms of the technology used, rather the cogboys had altered its outer appearance to make it look more ornate. They'd reshaped the armour and added some decorations.

The Boltpistol at my side was a master-crafted artificer weapon that had been made with great artistry, I found the use of gold and engraving to be a bit excessive, but it was a weapon fit for a planetary governor, or a Lord Inquisitor, and while it looked more like a work of art than a weapon it was a Ceres pattern bolt pistol under all the decorations, a weapon favoured by high ranking navy officers and my fellow rogue traders.

I also carried my Valyerian steel powersword, which I called Shadowsteel, on my person, it along with my armour and weapons showed that I had become a powerful Imperial noble in a very short amount of time. The Ad-Mech were very happy with the fun new toys they got to play with and despite most of their efforts being focused on many different projects the Arch-Magos had found the time to ensure that I profited from our alliance.

This latest mission would no doubt aid with that as even now members of the 2nd Thrax Regiment, elite warriors who wore power armour and carried plasma weapons produced my the Ad-Mech, and were replicated Enclave technology altered in appearance to seem more Imperial, were securing the inside of the fortress. The men and women inside the power armour had been trained by members of the Brotherhood of Steel, however they'd not gotten a chance to put that training to action so it was good that the fortress was so lightly defended.

More regularly armed and armoured troops had been sent into the runs of what had once been a place called Fairfax in order to clear out the raiders who had for some reason decided to set up stop near the fort. Something that seemed damn silly to me. Not that raiders were known for being a sensible group of people and they'd all be dead soon as I'd brought a lot of troops with me.

Once inside Fort Independence, I found that there was nearly no notable loot other than a computer that the Outcasts kept some records on. That machine would soon be transported back the Enclave base that my forces had taken over so that the cogboys could take it apart so as to find any data of value on its hard drive or they could use for toaster sex Tuesday. I didn't much care as I got paid well for these finds.

We found little else of note until we reached the lower levels. Once we got sown some stairs the Magos and I found a terminal which she opened after some bit of ritual work that apparently involved appeasing the machine spirit before getting the password. I assumed she did some clever hacking stuff that was dressed up in needless ritual.

We continue down until reaching a room full of research terminals. Activating them proved to be worth the time as they contained research notes on various weapons, including a model of missile launcher, a minigun, Enclave power armour, a type of plasma rifle I'd not seen before, pulse grenade and laser rifle.

As the goodies were taken out men and women came in so as to set up this little fort as base of operations for the 2nd regiment. This left me free to read some reports I found a terminal as the local computers weren't exactly hard to use.

Henry Casdin

We've secured the building and are currently implementing our orders for the occupation of Fairfax. Raider activity in town has increased since we first took up positions in and around the fort. We've killed a lot of them and scared off others. But they just keep coming back. Their numbers seem limitless, while requests for our own reinforcements are repeatedly denied. That the Raiders take such continued risks to invade our facility appears to confirm suspicions that we've had an intelligence leak. They've tried tenaciously to infiltrate the base, but so far hadn't stood a chance. Our objective remains the same: protect the research personnel.

Rococo Rockfowl

Defender Morgan and I executed a reconnaissance mission last night to gauge Raider entrenchment in the structural underground of Fairfax. We located three entrances into underground utility tunnels, and confirmed the enemy has occupied and fortified these positions. Some are undefended. We also identified a small weapons cache in the southeast section of the tunnels. We were compromised by a patrol while placing explosives here. In accordance to mission parameters, we did not engage, instead retreating to Base. Raiders will be likely to attach more patrols to that area now.

My interest in these dull reports faded quickly as did my desire to stay here at the fort as there wasn't much worth seeing. These Brotherhood Outcasts had proven to be a disappointing lot as had their little clubhouse.

Swamps. Point Lookout.

Farseer Galadeer carefully studied the strands of fate that made up destinies of the humans of his world, she focused on those she watched and saw their lives play out in a number of different ways. In most futures the hunters caught their prey and dispatched her in a rather gruesome way. Only in a few timelines did she escape and those possible future were quickly disappearing. She didn't need to cast the runes to know that human female was unlikely to survive much longer.

The Warp here was corrupted in a way different than what she was used to and unlike the rest of this world the barrier between this dimension and others was weaker here. That along with the radiation and the inbreeding had caused many of the native humans to become mutant creatures with a taste for human flesh.

Two of these swampfolk were currently hunting a mon'keig female who had simply wandered into the lands claimed by the swampfolk. There were tribal fetishes hung up from the trees to mark places the swampfolk called home, but in the dark the human woman had not seen them. Her kind saw so little of what was going on around them.

Not that she was ignorant to the fact that they were hunting her as the swampfolk had no subtly in them. The two deformed males, one as bloated as some worshippers of the plague god the other was so small that he might be mistaken for a child if not for excessive amount of facial hair, had been chasing her for some time, making sport of it.

"No wonder the humans of this world killed themselves" remarked a ranger "They take pleasure in their cruelty towards one another".

The Farseer had begun to see humans differently since she'd learned that the salvation of her race would be possible due to a human and she worried than once the Eldar were free of their own doomed galaxy that one day they might revert to such base behaviours as they had during the height of their empire.

"Our people did far worse to each other before The Fall" the Fareseer reminded the ranger "And our dark kin in Webway still commit such sins even upon each other".

For all their superiority it hadn't be the Eldar who found a means to flee their doomed galaxy and it wasn't the Eldar who'd been able to spread out into different universes.

"Save the human woman" the Farseer ordered.

The ranger hadn't expected to hear those words. Mercy was a weakness in their own universe, however this was not their universe.

"She's jut a foul smelling ape" the Eldar with the long range weapon protested.

The Farseer wasn't used to explaining her actions but the younger alien was a Ranger, an Eldar who had decided to leave their Craftworld and the Paths that the Craftworld Eldar normally walked upon, choosing instead to follow the Path of the Outcast, seeking excitement and adventure in the open galaxy. Many never return to their Craftworld, dying alone and forgotten or falling from grace into the hands of Slaanesh. Sometimes, however, Rangers return to their Craftworld, having sated their desire for adventure and are welcomed back as this young one had been.

"These swampfolk are corrupted, they worship something unnatural, something dark, and therefore they must be cleansed" Galadeer stated "We will start with these hunters".

The Ranger fired his weapon twice and killed the two hunters in the time it would take a human's heart to beat.

"All of the corrupted must be cleansed" ordered the Farseer, who knew that her more loyal followers would hear her "Spare those who are not tainted".

The warriors began to move, they were unseen by human eyes and if not for the Farseer's psychic gifts she would have a hard time keeping track of her warriors.

"I will seek out the source of this corruption and deal with it" said Galadeer to the ranger "For that I will need your aid".

Whatever this creature was that had influence over the people and this land would be too powerful for her to battle directly so she would seeks out the means by which it interacted with this plane of existence. Most likely there was an altar that could be destroyed or maybe some dark artefact she could cleanse.

As for the Outcast they didn't wish to aid humans, but the Farseer wished to observe the Rogue Trader and his people, and to win their favour by aiding their endeavours with the hope that later the Imperials would aid the Eldar. The Ranger didn't think that this would go smoothly, but until then he'd keep travelling his path and see where fate took him.
