Chapter 3

Castaspella rested in the infirmary of the castle as Adora and the others watched over her. "Is my sister going to be ok?" Micah asked.

"She's going to be fine," A doctor answered, "she just needs a few days of rest. If you'll excuse me, I must attend to the rest of Mystacor."

"Do what you can," Glimmer said as that doctor left to tend to other wounded people from Mystacor. "Who would do such a thing?"

"She mentioned something about a box earlier." Adora said.

"But then she fainted," Catra added.

"The box from the vault," Micah said as he realized what his sister was talking about.

"What are you talking about dad?" Glimmer asked while being worried.

"There's a secret vault below Mystacor that only a select few know. In it is a box that we have guarded for centuries."

"Where did this box come from?" Bow asked, "and what does it do?"

"I don't know. All we knew about it was that it was given to us by the First ones a long time ago."

Entrapta bursted into the infirmary with her tech pad in hand. "You guys I've made a big discovery!" She exclaimed.

"Did you have to yell?" Catra complained.

"Sorry, should we take this somewhere else?"

They all left the infirmary and walked into the throne room to discuss what Entrapta found. "What did you discover?" Bow asked.

"While you five were checking up on Castaspella I discovered something on the chip you brought back," Entrapta started to explain, "it contained data tracks of the first ones. Though my knowledge on first one's writing is limited, I was able to make out a few words."

"What did it say?" Micha asked.

"It said something about a battle and three boxes."

"Boxes?" Bow said as he was confused.

"Can I take a look at it?" Adora asked. Entrapta handed her the pad and she began to read what the data tracks had written in them.

"Does it say anything else?" Micah asked.

"It says, A great armada appeared in the sky of Etheria, laying waste to all who opposed it,'" Adora said as she read it to them. "' The leader of the invasion was a being called Darkseid. A name cursed and feared in every universe. Darkseid was met in battle by an uneasy alliance between the Eternians and The horde. Eternians?"

"Eternians must be what that first ones were actually called," bow added.

"They allied with The horde?"

"This Darkseid must have been a serious threat to both of them if it made them team up," Entrapta said.

"Please continue Adora," Micah told her.

" As Darkseid waged war on Etheria, he discovered a secret to conquer the universe. A power hidden in the infinity of space. He called forth mystics who worshipped and controlled three objects: the Mother boxes."

"Mother boxes?" Glimmer said with a confused look on her face.

"Apparently they're indestructible living machines made from a science so advanced, it looks like sorcery. To conquer, three Mother Boxes have to join and synchronize into the Unity. The Unity cleanses a planet with fire, transforming it into a copy of the enemy's world. All who live would become servants of Darkseid, alive but drained of life: parademons. 'But before the Unity could synchronize, the defenders of Etheria fought and attacked as one. They did what no world had ever done: send Darkseid back into the stars. The three Mother Boxes never synchronized. The Unity never came to pass. But in their retreat, the Boxes were left behind on Etheria. They grew weak: dogs without masters falling asleep, awaiting their return. Falling from the view of the enemy, anonymous among a trillion worlds. The Eternians made a vow: That they would enshrine and guard one of the three sleeping Mother Boxes in case a Box should ever wake again to call out to the planet Apokolips to return and conquer the only world Darkseid had ever lost. One was given to the kingdom of Mystacor. Another was given to the kingdom of Salineas. And the last was hidden in the Crimson Waste."

They all stood there trying to piece together what Adora had just read. "So let me get this straight. The first ones and Horde prime formed an alliance to stop an invasion for this guy named Darkseid?"

"That's what it says."

"This all must have happened over a thousand years ago," Entrapta deduced. "And now, Darkseid or whoever is working for him is trying to find the mother boxes and take over Etheria."

"And one of them is in the enemy's possession," Micah said.

"Then whoever attacked Mystacor is going to attack Salineas next…" Adora realized.

"We need to warn Mermista now!" Glimmer said. Everyone held onto her and she uses her powers to teleport them to Salineas.

In the Fright Zone, Kyle was talking a walk after helping Hordak clones rebuild people's homes. As he walked, he heard strange noises like that flapping of large wings. "Is anyone there?" He asked, all scared.

When there was no reply, he continued to walk. But a Parademon snuck up on him and screeched in his face…
