Disclaimer: I do not own Familiar of Zero or Harry Potter, they belong to their respective owners. I'm not making money, this is just for fun and a hobby at most.
AN: Okay this is a side project story. This chapter is a continuation of the last which I originally wanted to include. You can call it part two, whatever.. Probably won't be able to keep up this release rate with big sized chapters 4k+ anyways... Might have to go back to my smaller chapter 2k+ sizes, I'm sorry. But I pushed out this chapter anyways! So, if you are fine with all that, please enjoy!
Chapter Four: Adventure Awaits
This was Fawkes first adventure with her new master, in fact it had been the first time her master had left her room since they had found one another. This place still reminded her of Hogwarts, if not less majestic. More crowded though, she hardly had any room to fly. Good old Salazar would have a fit. Then again Salazar said that his Familiar would need to be able to go through the castle in the future, hence its overly large design. Not that, that, had ended well.
She had had many adventures over her lifetime... When had that started again? Honestly she couldn't remember. So many burning days ago, she had long since lost count. She could still remember some things, like how she had met some of her earlier masters. One in particular reminded her a bit of her current master, good old Merlin! Now that was a man who knew adventure! Of course her new master wasn't like Merlin, but the ways they met were eerily similar. Her new master obviously didn't have as long as beard as him, then again she hadn't really looked? Maybe her new master would grow a beard, her pink hair looked almost like some of her feathers! They'd match! Wouldn't that be just splendid!
Another tangent, she really needed a lemon drop... How she had met both masters was weird. No it was odd. Back then she had just been flying around looking for a new master when a portal appeared, just like what had happened yesterday. Except her previous master Merlin fell out of the portal! He was bleeding out from a stab wound. That normally would have been the end of it, humans die after all, but Merlin and her connected then! After that it was adventure after adventure, day after day!
Oh Fawkes still gets fluttery when she remembers those days. In fact she always gets fluttery when she finds a new master too... Wonder why... Oh well, it's not important. Back then I got a new master, Merlin, god rest his soul. He was an odd man, after healing him with a tear, we sealed our contract. Then we went on an adventure to find his homeland of Albion, or was it Avalon, or Alabama? Fawkes got confused when thinking about her old memories... It's not important! Weren't they in Albion at the time...? Nope, doesn't matter, we never did find it.
Now if you think it ends there, nope! Merlin and I pushed onwards, he was fascinated by the magic of these lands... But magic is magic? Fawkes will never understand witches and wizards... So instead we sought out knowledge. From there Merlin found Hogwarts and learned from the founders four. That's when I met her... Oh what a low-some snake! At least her master Salazar was nice. Why had Merlin been in the Slythern house! How she loathed those days, if not for her master...
No she would go anywhere for her master.. But poor poor, Lífþrasir, even a snake did not deserve to waste alone down there. I get emotional because Salazar let Merlin name her. Was Fawkes Lífþrasir 's only friend, her eyes did kill after all, hard to make friends that way... Fawkes was glad her eyes couldn't kill like a snakes, yup!
So where was her master going now? To get breakfast, go to classes, maybe kill a dark lord? Oh it was so exciting! Maybe she could help hunt down all the elves like she had with Merlin? Oh, what a wonderful fate befell the elves! To be made servants for eternity. The elves were truly blessed in Fawkes eyes. Well except the elves that served snakes... Those poor poor elves... But still, serving one's master for all eternity was one's happiness after all. Master later regretted his actions though... Fawkes just can't understand..
Fawkes landed on her masters shoulder as they passed through an archway. Such archways really made it hard to fly! She would have to ask someone to come fix it with a transfiguration spell. Then again, no one ever really listened to Fawkes. Instead they would just stop, listen, clap, and then go about their business. Like she was just some entertainment!
Fawkes was not an entertainer, she was a phoenix, and definitely not a snake! It wasn't her fault she had a beautiful voice! Unlike stupid snakes with all their S's on everything all the time! It was so annoying! Ah, when did she get outside? She was dazing out again.. How embarrassing. She really needed another lemon drop, that would calm her down. Oh no, she left all of them back in the dorm!

Louise stepped outside to a very nice sunny day. It was nearly lunch time, it seemed that staff had setup earlier then expected. She was glad her Familiar Fawkes accompanied her on her shoulder. It made Louise feel more important. Everyone in the courtyard was staring at her too. Their not used to seeing me walking around confidently. Louise grinned. Yes everyone in the courtyard were enjoying pastries, cake, and tea as they showed off their new familiars.
She would order some lunch, show everyone how great her familiar was, today was looking to be really good. Taking a seat, she pulled out her new spell book. Where had she left off? Ah, right, this was a section of beginning hexes. Skimming through she found a few sections on hexes. "Who would create a slug vomiting hex?" She pondered quietly aloud.
Still Louise was not one to believe having knowledge was wrong, so she kept reading. The slug vomiting hex causes the victim to vomit slugs for several hours uncontrollably!?What a ghastly hex, what element did it even belong to? Maybe it belongs to the earth category of magic? Louise thought, then again the preface of the book suggested that magic had evolved past such elemental systems. She had no idea who this Merlin was, or why he was such a proponent of theses new spells, but he came up enough in the book to be deemed important right? It was something to ponder as she waited to be served. Plus it wouldn't hurt to practice another spell right?
As Louise engrossed herself, in her book, she failed to notice her Familiar Fawkes take off towards the other familiars lounging about. Occasionally she would practice the hexes delicate wand movements with her fork.

A myriad of creatures and students were currently in the courtyard. Foxes, turtles, moles, lizards, birds, and oh no! There was a snake too! Fawkes landed nearby to observe her fellow loyal servants. Most of them were enjoying the shade or sun.
Wait is that a bugbear! It really was, she hadn't seen one in ages! Merlin said they could be used to cure Lycanthropy. There giant eyeballs could be used to make hundreds of potions to do so... Merlin never had found any on our adventures... I had failed... Fawkes slumped over, depressed. Didn't Albus have a pet werewolf? Fawkes couldn't remember, at the time she most have been sleeping? Yes she slept it all away, she was a smart familiar who failed to miss anything, yup!
Oh it's a charmander! Merlin always called them Salamanders though, he never did listen properly to me, I'm older and wiser... But he was the master so he must have been right after all? No Fawkes shouldn't doubt her masters words, nope! Salamander were odd creatures, but she liked them cause they had a flame tail... But they were scaly like snakes! But it's okay, it's a nice creature... Not as good as her though.
Well at least most of these kids had a diverse range of Familiars. Everyone at Hogwarts always had owls, cats, frogs, or... Snakes... Stupid snakes. The fat wizard had an owl, though it looked to small a breed to properly carry mail? How was it going to please it's master!? She might have to console the poor thing later. Maybe the poor thing could help the poor wizard pass notes in class? Fawkes was sure she could find something for the poor owl to do.
That frog suits that yellow haired witch, she smells of potions... I wonder if she has any lemon drops like the candy shop in Daigon Alley? She could really use one.. Why did they keep the lemon drops with potions again? She really needed to calm down... If only she had a lemon drop!
A shadow fell over Fawkes head. "Oh wow!" Fawkes cooed while looking up. Is that a real Rhyme dragon! I haven't seen one in centuries. Sure dragons were like snakes... But, dragons aren't snakes, so at least there's that. Still Fawkes always had trouble getting along with dragons, they always claim to be better at fire then her! That was just plain wrong after all! Rhyme dragons used the wind though, which meant they were far less stuck up, and she was young too! I'm going to go say hi!
Fawkes eagerly flew over to where the big blue dragon had landed. Nearby a blue haired girl could be seen reading by a tree a few dozen feet away. "Hey big blue Rhyme dragon, what's your name!?"
*Chapter Four: Adventure Awaits*
Irukukwu was enjoying the sun. She had only met her new master yesterday. Her big sister Tabitha was very kind... But she was always very sad and lonely. She really wished she could help big sis, but she had no idea how too. She knew from her bond that the cause of her strife was her uncle and what he had done to big sister's mama. But what could she do?
She could use wind magic, but that could not save her big sisters mother, nor could it defeat her big sisters uncle.. This really made her sad too. Maybe her master would like some rides? Master would probably love flying! She loved flying after all!
Touching down in the shade of a tree nearby her master, Irukukwu laid down. This grass was so comfortable.
"Hey big blue Rhyme dragon, what's your name?" Called out a funny looking red tailed bird. It's beak was pretty funny looking too.. Oh my god, look at thoses weird plume feather sticking out of it's behind!
"Pfft! You look so funny!" She cried out.
"What, how dare you! And here I was thinking of allowing you the honor to be my comrade!" Spat the bird.
"But, just look at you!" She started laughing, or cooing as the students would hear.
"I am a great and wise Phoenix! Your acting like a snake!" Cried the bird.
"A snake! I'm a rhyme dragon, how dare you! You... You, …. snake!" She cried, unable due to her mental age to come up with a better comeback.
"Snake... Snake! Fawkes is not a snake! Fawkes is a great Phoenix! Best Familiar there is!" The bird fluffed out its feathers.
"Snake!" Irukukwu stuck out her dragon tongue. Even if she wasn't being original, she hardly knew any better.
"How... How, dare you!" Fawkes flew at the dragon... In a poof of fire the two were gone. None of the students however paid much attention.
Why was Irukukwu high above the academy? She hadn't taken off from the ground? She spread her wings.
"Apologize! Or next time I drop you off at the Romania Dragon preserve!" Fawkes cooed.
A preserve, captivity, away from her master! No! Irukukwu wanted to remain with big sister! "I'm sor.. I'm sorry, Irukukwu won't call you a snake again! I'll be your comrade!" She desperately cooed.
"Never forget I'm a Phoenix, not a snake! Swear it on your wind magic!" Fawkes cooed back.
"I swear it!" The dragon cooed in desperation.
"Very good Comrade... Now let us talk about our love for our masters!" Fawkes cooed back.
Irukukwu didn't know what to think about this new comrade? No, friend of hers.. But serving ones master was bliss after all. Fawkes was alright. If not a bit odd of a bird.
"I see a nice forest with some prey down their Fawkes.. Would? Would you like to go on an adventure?" She asked the bird shyly.. Irukukwu was young.. She thought and spoke with her stomach.
"OooH! An adventure you say? One with treasures abound, maybe some lemon drops? Lets get going!" Fawkes darted in flashes of fire towards the forest below. Irukukwu didn't know how Fawkes could teleport like that, but he was cheating! To could play at that game! She would use her wind magic to go faster!
What a strange new friend Irukukwu had found.. What was a lemon drop? Her stomach growled... She would have to ask. But first she would hunt! Hopefully Fawkes could hunt too.
*Chapter Four: Adventure Awaits*
Louise was very engrossed with her book, to say the least. So much so she failed to notice how close the other students had gotten to her. Yes it was very crowded now in the courtyard.
At first not many students were sitting down to eat the unhealthy lunch, instead preferring to actually spend time with their familiars. Well most of them anyways. So when Guiche de Gramont had walked by her table, it was a very close call due to the crowding of the courtyard. He had bumped into her chair. A minor disturbance... Normally.
If that was all that happened, Louise would never have cared. That was not the case however. For Guiche, in his hurry to see his girlfriend Montmorency, dropped a vial from his pocket as he bumped her. It was a perfume, made by his girlfriend, and it had split on her precious book.
Guiche de Gramont was angry at her bumping him! Louise was angry over her book. Kirche was watching in rapt attention as the situation she had secretly knowingly created...
Kirche couldn't wait for the hilarious results that would follow! She still seethed at how her Familiar had caused Flame to cower like a dog! This was payback.
Speaking of which, where was that dumb bird of hers?
*Chapter Four: Adventure Awaits*
Jean Colbert was almost to the top of the towers stairwell. Albus had been explaining a few things to him on the way. It was all quite fascinating really. Colbert had even brought up their current war to gauge his opinion on it. Albus was not a man to like war, to say the least he hated it. This coming from a man who said he had fought in two of them. Grindelwald, Voldemort! What atrocious beings of malice and hate.
The old headmaster was glad to here that Tristain was standing firm with it's allies of Albion. He however did not like the idea of sending children of the academy to war when they graduated. To be honest. Colbert hated the idea too. But a few years ago Princess Henrietta declared Tristain's position on the war. Even now the girl was fighting in Albion alongside her Fiance Prince Whales of Albion.
The forces of Reconquista had been being pushed back the last couple of years. But such a thing couldn't last, as Tristain's coffers could not handle the strain long term. There was even some talk of drafts and earlier entry into the military. Colbert thought it bad enough that all Academy students were being forced into conscription upon graduating... But to send young soldiers, nay, children was going to far.
Dumbledore had agreed with him. He had suggested creating an order to oppose this Oliver Cromwell. Colbert wasn't sure about that, a new order of knights?
The Princess had done something similar. He couldn't remember what it was called. He would have to ask her when she arrived at the academy.
Loath as it was for the princess, she still needed to appease the citizens and nobles. As such she would be attending to Familiar Exhibition and giving a speech about the war in roughly two weeks time. It was a somewhat highly publicized event, so a lot of the students were on edge about it. Especially the first years, who would be performing with said Familiars.
AN: Yes I'm diverging from cannon, but also doing my best to stay true to their canonical worlds, characters, and settings. There is a very good reason why the war is already in progress, and why Tristain is part of it. You could say that, just as things passed through to Halkeginia from Saito's earth, so did Harry Potters earth have an effect of Halkeginia in this story.
