I smile as the well dressed announcer says that the contestants will take a two hour break before the next challenge. We hurry off to the waiting area to talk to Marco.

Marco chuckles nervously but Raphael and I say he'll do just fine. Hearing the announcement for the contestants to return we all hurry back. The servants place wooden stand ins all around the front of the contestants. Some look very mean while others look well dressed.

The announcer says "The next contest, the contest of memory. Each contestant had been given a short list of guests and persons invited to a private dinner event. Hidden in the event are three assassins trying to kill the queen. Each contestant will be allowed seven arrows to kill the assassins before they move too close to the queens seated on the throne. And the contestants are not allowed to move from there spots."

Marco unlike the others lifts a crossbow with an odd crank or pump on its side. It has a bunch of gears to the back of it. The other contestants have either a crossbow or bow. At the whistle it isn't long before they start to shoot at various stand ins. But Marco still hasn't fired. And when he does I gasp seeing him hit the small child stand in. Then an elderly man followed by a servant stand in. With the contest stopped the others contestants start to laugh and point at Marco. While a few people begin to gossip about Marco's aim.

The announcer says "Winner of this contest Marco Diaz!"

The crowd is shocked until the announcer says "Earlier I mentioned that each contestant was given a list of names that detailed guests that would be here. I will now display the list for you all to see. As you all can see now Sir Diaz killed three individuals not listed or described anywhere in the guest listing. Thus leaving the only three to be the culprits of the attempted assassinations to be the three Sir Diaz killed. And words Sir Diaz."

Marco thanks the announcer to say, "As a knight and a protector to the crown there is no such thing as an innocent assassin. An assassin cares only to do harm to their target be it by scaring or by killing them. As a knight you must be ready to end the lives of any who should threaten the crown you serve. No matter what they look like, their age, or their creed an assassin is still an assassin. And as knights you must be ready to dirty your hands in service to the crown."

Soon several knights from Mewni stand and begin clapping cheering Marco words. I can see a few other people clapping as well but not everyone. Certain nobles seem to look nervous or cover their mouths to speak to someone. But now I'm worried. Marco just explained that he's ready to kill if it means protecting the queen. And as a mother I don't want to see my baby have to kill anyone...

Third person's POV

The crowd is roaring with cheers as the contestants take to warnicorn's and begin riding around the stadium. The crowd screams with excitement as each contestant rides. Marco holding steady in fourth place as he tries to catch the three leaders. But as they circle for the last lap he slowly spurs his stead to go a little faster.

Making it across the finish line just shy of second place Marco pats his steed in thanks. Dismounting the crowd continues to cheer at the excitement of the race. Given their last hour break the contestants along with the crowd are told of the final contest.

Manfred says, "Now the final challenge of todays contests is siege defense. Each contestant is given twenty five soldiers to defense against and invading group of forty five. The contestants have been randomly given turns and each have two hours to instruct their soldiers on how they will defense or counter their aggressors."

Marco right away got to looking over the enemies and his troops. Marco nods six with spears and shields, six with bows and arrows. The rest have swords and shields the basic knight arsenal given to the knights of Butterfly kingdom. Marco looks over the soldiers to explain to them his plan.

The horn sounds as the first contestants begin the siege defenses. Marco sees and watches as the first contestant loses half his force before retreating. The following two don't retreat and die in the battle losing. Even though magic is making sure no one gets hurt or actually dies. Marco shakes his head at the needless deaths of the defenders. Finally it has come to Marco's turn. Seeing that his defenders are set up properly Marco doesn't pay any attention to fortifying the fake gates like the others. His focus is mainly on his defenders. Setting barriers to protect and funnel the incoming attacks. Nodding towards his troops Marco stands with a group at the mouth of the funnel.

Telling them to hold while ordering the two groups behind angled barricades to be ready. Once the gates are broken down the attackers rush. Both flanking groups blow horns stopping the attackers advance. The attackers are confused as Marco shouts several false orders resulting in the attackers further confusion.

The crowd equally confused until Marco shouts "FIRE!"

Protected by the spearmen and their barriers the archers fire three volleys of arrows. The attackers confusion turns to shock, as they are too slow to raise their shields. To further their chaos the spearmen throw their spears right at the enemy leaders. With both dead the attackers slowly back up but hold their ground. That is until Marco raises his swords to order his forces to charge. Flanked from the sides and the front the attackers turn tail and run. The slower ones quickly picked off by the sudden charge in superiority. While the fleeing few run out the gates.

Marco shouts "Victory for Mewni!"

His acting soldiers reciprocate the sentiment by shouting "Victory!"

The crowds cheer as Marco holds his sword high leaving many shocked and others very happy. And to little surprise Marco is proclaimed the winner of the Kings challenge.

Marco's POV

I can't help but smile at how well I performed. And how pissed a good number of the other contestants and watching nobles are. Well they can stay mad none of them we're going to win either way. No Moon is my future I just had to prove it to all of Mewni today. Now I can't help but wonder how Moon will break the news to the kingdom that she isn't stepping down and will be marrying me. Phalax sips from his goblet saying, "Yes these vile rock and water throwing peasants have become bold. I regretted the lose of a few of the soldiers my fire lord. But I embolden the remaining soldiers to hold position for the tanks to arrive and secure our escort. But I will have to return soon to see how they are holding the fort."

Azula says "I have the utmost faith in my troops lord Phalax. They'll die before being capture by such barbarians. And queen Moon I must say hearing the tales of you from the nobles here has been very thrilling. Striking such fear into an enemy with such a show of might that they scatter in fear. Ha shows them not to underestimate those of royalty. But now I hear these monster are ruled by your recently freed family members?"

Marco answers "Yes Globgor was the prince to the monster turned king once he married Eclipsa. But the pressures and prejudice from the past nobles refused to see the union as a good thing to end hundreds of years of war. The three were imprisoned until Moon fulfilled her deal to Eclipsa. I managed to get the truth out of the commission of magic. And since being freed Eclipsa has worked hard with her daughter to reorganize the monster clans and modernize them to be seen things clearly. From last I visited the budding kingdom the monsters welcomed me happily. But it must be due to how closely I've worked on helping them restore their homes."

Azula and lord Phalax nod commending Marco for his efforts. Moving on we find Meteora talking with a Septarian. I squeeze Marco's hand and he nods encouraging me to keep strong.

Marco says "It was nothing Zirtiz after all the hate Toffee, past Mewmens, and monsters stirred up I think a time of peace is need. Oh Moon sorry Zirtiz here is the only female Septarian clan leader. Toffee used his army of the past to take certain powerful stances within monster society. But after you broke down that army several Septarian's and monster bands kept in touch with him. Toffee was planning an invasion until the more modern and relaxed monsters. Along with the monster that stayed loyal to Globgor and his idea of peace kept them from attacking.'

Marco adds, "Zirtiz with Eclipsa's help and mine showed the monsters what humans horrors afflicted my home world. Some monsters were horrified to see that if magic was lost how science could equally destroy living beings. Zirtiz went on to campaign against older monsters and reminding them that you pulled back Mewman borders and returned a good deal of land to the monsters. Zirtiz has been weeding out the few hold overs and relocating them to a monster rich dimension off Mewni."

Zirtiz continues on to say, "Yes it pains me but as lord Marco explained peace is best for all. And yes history can't be undone and scars take time to heal. But the way forward is often reflecting on the flaws of the past. Mewmen's like any other races expanded too quickly and needed land for their people. And yes even though we monsters are many and agree to few things. We are scattered to our own domains. It was only when Toffee and Seth and a few others began their crazed anti magic propaganda that many monsters thought that ending magic would solve these problems. We failed to solve our problems and let leaders ruin our children's futures through fear and anger. Now we must rewrite things and see that unity and peace ends such weeds from growing further. Queen Moon your husband to be has done great things for my clans and the monster kingdom. If you should ever need aid we will assist as best we can."

I nod thanking her and apologizing for the past misdeeds of the Butterfly royal family as well. Walking to the open balcony I look out as the sunset reaches it brightest peak. Turning I give Marco's hand another squeeze. He turns to me with a smile and we meet to share a nice kiss. Truly he is worth to be my king.
