Day #4: Café

"Welcome to the Cat Meows of town, nyan." The blond guy said, making a hand gesture simulating a cat.

"I can't fucking believe you are really doing this." Answered Marinette who was sitting at one of the tables of the cafeteria with a blank expression.

"I told you I could be a great cat." The guy in a black catsuit said while winking and giving her the menu "Now my lovely princess, please choose one of our fuurrtastic plates and let your hero Chat Noir take care of it."

"Oh boy, you really are a cutie, aren't you?" A half-smile and a mischievous look appeared on her face, being playful with each other like always.

Marinette and the now self-proclaimed Chat Noir, were friends since they were little kids. The girl always says he's like the stray cat that you feed once and never leaves. They were the perfect cliche of best friends not so best friends because they have an insane amount of sexual tension but don't just wanna admit it.

But, how the hell did they get to this situation where the boy started working in a cat-theme cafeteria? Well, it was a mix of bad luck and bad decisions, nothing that Chat wasn't used to.

"I'm killing all the ladies in here, pawpaw." Said Chat Noir, doing finger guns, his princess laughed at the gesture.

"You know you didn't have to do this, right? I'm not mad at you." Marinette said, with a worried and emphatic tone in her voice. With that change of mood, Chat gave her an uncomfortable smile, letting her see the little guilt and hesitation in his green eyes.

"It's okay princess, I just think it's fair to make up to you, and I really enjoy it here." Chat answered trying not to worry her, but Marinette could clearly see through him.

"What's going on kitty?" She asked, the boy showed a defeated smile and connected looks.

"If you buy something, this stray cat may spill the tea." He offered with a lightening tone, lifting the heaviness of the atmosphere.

"You better not try to get smart with me, okay?" The girl warned, not being serious with the threat. "I'll take a cookie and cream milkshake, and I expect it with extra cookies in compensation for making me deal with my furry friend."

"Hey, this is 100% my spirit animal incarnated in a costume, no furry in this body." The blond guy replied while signaling himself with pride.

"Whatever, just bring me my damn milkshake." Marinette said while rolling her eyes.

"All for you, my princess." For Marinette's luck, Chat made a reverence that prevented him from looking the little blush in her cheeks.

The blue-eyed girl watched Chat go straight to the kitchen in the back of the café until he got out of her sight, after that she killed time inspecting the local and getting lost in her thoughts.

The interior gave a very cute bright aura with the walls with paws print, white and green colors, the cats all over the place, and the waiters in cat costumes, it really was a place that matched too well with her kitten.

Marinette released a sigh and turned on her phone, looking at the background photo of her and Chat. Why did the heart have to be so chaotic? Life would be easier if everything could just be a cat meows.

She was so out of focus that she didn't even notice when her milkshake was put on the table and her best friend sit in front of her with a cup of coffee.

"Earth to Marinette." Chat joked before giving a sip to his cup. The black-haired gal jumped in her seat because of the surprise and turned her attention to the boy.

"So, a cup of coffee for a sophisticated cat, such a good life."

"What can I say? The boss gave me a break and I have to take advantage of it with absolute class and elegance." He said imitating a refined accent and causing a little snort out of Marinette.

"Okay elegant chaton, are you gonna tell me what's going on?" She said, going straight to the point so he couldn't escape. He didn't, in fact, he changed to the same serious and determinated look like her.

"We both know what is happening here, we can't just pretend not to see it, princess." Chat said while looking intensely at her, she blushed in response. "Still it was my fault, tho."

They just remained in silence, remembering what happened.

Marinette was in her room with a guy from her class, they were on a class project, or at least that was how she would have wanted that everything stayed. She knew from the start that the guy was trying to hit on her, however, she wasn't interested at all. The big problem? Marinette just sucked at saying no. She was always so invested in making everyone feel good and couldn't afford to say no and harm them.

So, when the boy suggested doing the work on her house instead of the library or any other public space, she knew the game he was playing, but it was impossible for her to reject his insistence.

Everything started well, focusing on the project and a little normal chit-chat. Nevertheless, little by little the guy started to move closer to Marinette, getting her into an inner panic mode because of not being able to solve the situation and establish boundaries.

"You know Marinette… I always thought you were a really cute girl" He said while invading her personal space, she forced an uncomfortable smile and tried not to look at him.

"Uh, thanks… I guess."

"And I think we will be a really great couple." The boy continued to approach her, grabbing her chin so she could look at him.

Marinette resigned to her fate, feeling unable to reject the boy. Since she always had her kitty to defend her, she got so comfortable and didn't learn for herself…

But, as called upon, A blond head appeared from the balcony into her room, totally unaware of what was happening.

"Did you know they just opened a cat-themed café? I saw it and I had to go and buy some cat-formed doughnuts…" Adrien said while losing his voice little by little after seeing the scene.

His friend looks terrified, the same 'get-me-out-of-here' eyes he had seen whenever she gets in these boys' situations. And he felt the same anger that builds up more and more after each of these situations.

Along with that, there's a boy in his princess's room, disrespecting her personal space and he didn't know about any of these.

"What are you doing to her…?" Chat asked, with a low voice that expressed all the contained anger inside.

"Woah, we were just having a little fun" Answered the other guy with a mocking tone while putting his hands in the air and standing up.

"Having fun? Or just you being a fucking pain in the ass?" He said facing the guy, cornering him into Marinette's dressing table.

"Hey hey, no need to be jealous, it's not that she is your girl or something, isn't she?" That was what made him rise to the bait. He grabbed him by the shirt collar and confronted him with the eyes.

"Don't!" Before Adrien could respond, Marinette raised her voice and stood up beside the blond boy. He looked at her, and instantly all the anger melted away, she knew it from the look of his eyes -he really was like a cat that lowers the sharpness in his pupils-. And with that anger melted, he also released the other guy.

With that release, the scared boy stumbled into the dressing table, making the ladybug jewels drop and break into the ground, however, he didn't even notice since he just escaped at the moment.

"Fuck... " Chat said, looking at the broken jewels and knowing the value of them.

"I know… We didn't have the best reactions, I mean, I know you did not have bad intentions and got really mad at you, that was also a bad move out on my part." Marinette said, coming back to present and trying to push off the topic.

"Princess, you know I'm not talking about that. I already told you I was going to replenish your stuff." Chat gave her a knowing look, so now she couldn't escape.

They both know what was truly underneath that episode. The jealousy, the protectiveness, the passion. The answer was in the air, but they were too scared to grab it.

"Ad- Chat… I'm not ready, sorry." She said sadly, he just let it be only with a resigned sigh.

The catboy stood up and dangerously approached the girl, portraying a mischievous smile. She tried to smile back and not lose the game, but the blush and nervousness were stronger.

"Enjoy your meal, my princess."

"Kitty!" Marinette said, grabbing his hand. He looked at her with expectation.

Said it. Said it. Said it.

"You really are a great cat."

Another day would be.
