It's been a week or so since you last saw Kakashi when you told him about your store and now everything was ready. All the shelves were stocked and the decorations were up and you even had a reading corner set up, everything was perfect, and the store was ready to open. You decided you were going to have a day to rest after all the work you've been doing for the past few months and you would open the store for the first time in two days.

It was pretty late and you decided to go out for some ichiraku ramen since it's been some time since you had it last and you missed it. You walked into the small store only the be greeted by a familiar sigh. You looked ahead to find familiar blond, pink and silver hair facing away from you as the trio ate their ramen.

You moved to sit down and ordered a large bowl of ramen, taking a seat next to Kakashi. Sakura and Kakashi both greeted you with polite smiles while Naruto just stared at you, clearly confused, not that she blamed him, the two of you had only met a few times and it was short conversations and nothing personal, mostly to do with missions.

"Uhh," Naruto said, trying to remember your name. "Idiot, come on you know Y/N," Sakura said, giving the blond a gentle slap on the arm. The kids were still relatively young, they had just recently turned eighteen but you could see how they've grown since you last saw them.

"Y/N, Kakashi-sensei tells me your opening a book store? How exciting, when are you due to open the doors I'd love to come to check it out?" Sakura said, just as interested in the store as Kakashi had been. "Actually everything's ready, I'm opening the doors in two days." You answered as the old man delivered your order, you thanked him excited for your ramen as you took your mask off one ear and let it hang from the other so you could eat comfortably. You fell into easy conversation with Sakura as you ate, Naruto and Kakashi occasionally saying a few words to each other but otherwise staying quiet, not wanting to interrupt the girls and risk angering them. After a while you became tired and restless, you'd finished your ramen a while ago and were ready to leave but unfortunately, now Naruto had jumped into the conversation, with both Naruto and Sakura chatting you couldn't find time to get away from them.

"Well, it's getting late kids. We should get home, I'm sure Y/N has had a hard couple of weeks, we should let her rest up before the opening of her store." Kakashi said, offering you your chance to escape. "Aw," you heard the two younger shinobi chime simultaneously. The two of them said their goodbyes as you started walked out of the store waving to them and the old man, also tossing gratefully eyes to your former squadmates who waved back to you saying 'your welcome with his eyes.

You were almost home when you felt a familiar chakra signature just around the next corner you were meant to turn down, just a street away from your apartment. You opened your mouth to speak as you rounded the corner.

"Surprised you managed to get away from them."

"Yes well, I've had years of practice in that area," Kakashi said, falling into step beside you and chuckling slightly. You returned his laughter, matching his pitch. "So, your on your way home, right? You didn't have to wait for me on the corner you know," you said, knowing your apartment is on the way to his own home.

"Yeah, but it's better to have company," he replied. The two of you fell into a comfortable silence as you walked the rest of the way to your home, only five minutes away. Your apartment was in sight when suddenly you felt water raining down on your face, you stopped and looked up at the sky watching as the gentle rain trickled down. Kakashi stood and watched you closely as you stood there happily, you'd always loved the rain, it was peaceful and calming. "Thank you by the way Kakashi, for getting me out of there." You said, closing your eyes and taking in the calming smell of rain.

"You looked like you needed it. I could see that look in your eyes, those two were too much for too long," he replied. You turned to face him now, a grateful smile on your face. Kakashi had always been able to tell when your anxiety was becoming a problem and would always act to help you, you'd always been extremely grateful for it, for him. Suddenly the rain started pouring down harder and it became difficult to see, you became cold and wet as your clothes were drenched in the rain, you held your arms over your head in a feeble attempt to shield yourself. You let out a sharp gasp as you felt warm arms wrap your waist out of seemingly nowhere. You looked around you and found yourself in front of your apartment, you realised your hands were gripping a pair of strong arms. You glanced upward to see Kakashi staring down at you, his arms still wrapped around you.

"Uh, sorry," he said, "I didn't want us to get caught in the rain, you could've got sick."

"So could you."

You stared up at Kakashi and he stared down at you. "Would you like some tea while we wait for the rain to die down?" You asked him and he finally removed his arms from your body, he stepped back, missing the warmth of his body. "Uh, it's pretty late. I think I should just head home," he answered, giving you an apologetic look. Disappointed, you said, "Oh, Well if you insist then at least take an umbrella with you," he hurried around your apartment looking for one to hand over to the older man. When you returned to the front door where you left him he was still just staring at you.

"Thank you, Y/N," he said slowly, his hand lingering on yours as he looks the umbrella from you. You opened your mouth to reply but a blink and he was already gone and you were left standing in your front door alone and wondering.

You didn't see Kakashi again the next day, assuming he was busy with Hokage work, you spend the day in your bed reading your favourite series, only ever putting it down to make yourself something to eat or to use the bathroom. Your day off went by a lot quicker than you would have wanted but you were excited for tomorrow, finally, you were doing exactly what you always wanted. You heard a rough knock at your front door and moved to answer it, silently hoping to find a certain former Anbu captain standing there but as you approached you couldn't feel Kakashi's chakra, it was someone else and you had a strong feeling you knew exactly who. You hesitated with your hand over the doorknob, taking a deep breath you opened the door, schooling your expression to one of cold indifference as your eyes met the hard and cold eyes of your mother. You just stared at her silently waiting for her to speak first.

"Y/N, you're not even going to greet me?" she said, you didn't answer, just stared. She sighed. "You're going to have to speak to me at some point."

"Why are you here mother?" you asked, her voice distant and cold. "Your store is meant to open tomorrow right? I wanted to give you one last chance to come back home and return to your life as a shinobi before you make a mistake you can't reverse."

You blinked at her, your expression not changing. You let out an exhausted sigh and then just closed the door and turned to walk away back toward your bedroom. "Y/N!" You heard your scream at you through the door, "Seriously? Damn child." You heard before her presence faded away in the distance.

And just like that your good mood dissipated. You flopped onto your bed and curled up, tomorrow would be a good day, tomorrow would be a good day.
