At 4:30 his phone alarm went off. He had told Kirishima to be ready by 5 am. He wanted to be on top of the hill for the sunrise. It was his favorite place on earth, and his last camera just didn't do it justice. Not to mention his mom always found a way to come and mess up his frame by sitting in it. By the time he yelled at her enough to move, it was too late.
At 5 am there was no knock on his door, he knew that idiot would oversleep. Bakugou was shocked he made it to class on time. At 5:15 Bakugou grabbed his backpack and camera and went next door and knocked.
"Oi, Shit hair," He yelled banging on the door. Kirishima opened the door in the same clothes, or lack of, as the night before. He yawned, his eyes still closed as he tried to talk to the yelling boy in front of him. "What are you doing? Get dressed!" Bakugou yelled, pushing him into the room.
"What are you yelling about?" Kirishima asked as he is thrown on his bed. Bakugou couldn't help but notice his half-spiked hair, it almost made him blush, but he just focused on the task at hank.
"Hiking." Bakugou blurted as dug through Kirishima's dresser and threw clothes at the owner.
"Wait-" Kirishima opened his eyes, much more awake as he pulled on the shirt Bakugou threw. "You still want to go?" He could feel him staring at him with his big eyes and he finished digging out the rest of the clothes.
"Yes, I want to go. I never get to go hiking here." He threw him a pair of boxer briefs and shorts not even really noticing "Now get dressed." Bakugou left at that, pulling the door closed behind him. Within a minute the other was opening the door again, awake as ever. He hadn't bothered with his hair more than to throw it up, and Bakugou took a moment to admire how good it looked like that. Over the past few years it had gotten really long, it made the spikey hair style he always wore look even worse, but as it hung up in a ponytail.. Even Bakugou had to admit it looked good.
"Alright, let's go!" Kirishima grabbed Bakugou's hand and pulled him down the stairs. The blonde was too worried about holding onto his camera to notice Kirishima's hand until they were crossing through the back of the grounds and into the woods.
"What are you doing?" Bakugou asked, pulling his hand from the other. His face flushing red. He couldn't believe he allowed such a slip up. He was getting so sick of having to watch how he acted around his best friend. This stupid fake crush shit was getting on his nerves.
"Holding your hand," Kiri said..
"What the hell is going on with you?" Bakugou didn't wait for an answer, he just kept moving
"I like you, Bakugou," Kirishima replied and for once Bakugou almost believed it, but he couldn't. He just rolled his eyes and pushed on.
They reached the top of the hill just as the sun began to rise. "Wow," Kirishima said sitting on the ragged edge. Below him was a couple hundred feet drop, but he didn't seem to care, he hardly ever paid attention to his own safety. Sometimes, Bakugou just wanted to smack him for how careless he could be.
Bakugou just stood back and started taking photos as the sky began to swirl with color. Unlike with his mom, when he pulled his camera up to his eye and saw Kirishima in his lens, he wasn't upset. The way the red of his hair was illuminated by the touch of sun and the disappearing night made the scene worth taking. Even when Kiri turned around, his face going from a soft wonder to his toothy grin. Every moment was worth the click of his camera.
"Katsuki," Kirishima smiled and the angry boy put his camera down. Kiri held his hand out, but Bakugou didn't take it. He did go and sit next to the other though."Katuski it's beautiful up here," Bakugou had told Kiri to use his first name a long time ago, but he only ever did when it was just the two of them. The sound of it still threw Bakugou off. The way his voice just made everything better. His eyes tore off the sunrise and focused on the boy next to him, Bakugou wished he could believe all this stupid shit about a crush, but he couldn't.
They had known each other for over four years now, there's just now way. Both had dated others in the past, and as much as Bakugou wanted Kiri to be gay it just wasn't true. He also knew that as manly as Kiri was, he was always super shy when he liked someone, there's no way he would ever just blurt out a crush. When he dated Mina it took him almost three months to confess.
"Why do you think I bother coming out here, Ei?" The words could have been harsh, they should have been with who was speaking, but Bakugou could never get the same tone of hatred out when it was just the two of them.
Bakugou distracted himself from is heavy thoughts by looking through the photos he took, he started with the ones on the way up the hill, of the wildlife and trees. He soon felt the weight of Kirishima's head on his shoulder as he tried to see.
"How are you so talented at everything?" Kiri asked
"I'm not," Bakugou grumbled. He used to love that comment from people, but now he'd rather people see how much work it took him to be this good.
"Hmmm, let's see. Hero course, you're smart, you can cook, and now photography" Kirishima listed off the others' best qualities. But that was just it, those were his best ones, he has so many other bad ones.
"Eijiro," Bakugou started softly, a bit uncomfortable at someone complimenting him so much when he wasn't not actually doing anything. If anyone else saw his photography or even knew about it- "I just practice a lot, and study. Honestly, if I'm talented at anything" he stopped. He didn't want to go there.
"What?" Kirishima looked up at him with those stupid eyes.
Bakugou cursed, he shouldn't have said anything. One look from that stupid face and he was talking about things he shouldn't be. "Photography is the only thing I don't have to try at," He grumbled quickly, continuing to scroll through the photos when he landed on the sunset.
Looking at the back of Kirishima's head with the trees on the outline of the frame and the perfect sunrise pulling up behind him made him smile.
"What is it-Oh?" Kirishima interrupted as he saw himself on the camera. "That's amazing, I don't think I've ever looked so good," Kirishima blurted out.
Bakugou just 'tched' as he stood up, forcing the other off of his shoulder. Of course he did, Kiri always looked that good, but he wouldn't stoop there, not yet. Not until he knew."Come on, we best get going," Kirishima smiled at the soft tone of the other's voice.
On the way down, Bakugou let Kirishima run ahead, not that he even seemed to notice. Kiri was too busy running around and touching everything. Bakugou found himself taking more and more pictures of the shitty redhead than the nature around him.
