Hey everyone! Long A/N ahead, this is your warning! First of all, thank you so much for all the reviews! Second of all, I flew back home from Hawaii (which is -9 hours...) the other day, and I wrote the rest of this story! So, updates should be much more frequent now that I have the rest of this story written. Thirdly, when this story is over, I was wondering what you guys would want to read more? Please, please, leave me a review with what you would want to read 3
Also, to clarify- I don't hate Callie! I love Callie when she and Arizona are happy together, I'm a diehard Calzona shipper. Callie is Mark's best friend, and she's been there for him whenever he and Lexie break up. She doesn't want Lexie to break Mark's heart again, and that's what a good best friend does. But, I do hate Julia :)
Okay, the longest A/N is finally over! Please leave a review, and enjoy Chapter 4 of Unbroken Hearts!
God, did she look good. Her hair was definitely lighter, but it still wasn't anything like the blonde it was when they first broke up. She looked hot, and she knew it.
Deciding it would be best if he just chose to ignore her, he attempted to grab a beer from the fridge for himself, but failed to do so silently.
Lexie turned around, as he looked at her in that way that used to make her heart soar.
"Hey." He eventually said, and she smiled at him.
He loved her smile, it had to be one of his favorite things about her. Partly because he was frequently the reason for that smile.
"Hi. It's uh, good to see you. You, uh, look good." Lexie managed to stammer off, despite the fact that her brain couldn't seem to form a coherent sentence to save her life.
"You look really good too. So, uh, how you been?" Mark said, taking a sip of his beer.
"Pretty good. I'm at Mass Gen. now, in my first year of fellowship in Neuro."
"Neuro? I always knew it."
"Was that your kid? She looks just like you."
"Oh, yeah, that's Sofia. She's the best thing to ever happen to me. One of the." Mark said, correcting himself.
Everyone seemed to be bouncing in and out of the kitchen, and it was nearly impossible to hear one another.
"You wanna go outside? And we could, you know, talk? If you want?" Lexie said, stammering over every word.
"Yeah, I would love that." Mark said, as the two of them headed out to the back patio. Derek and Meredith had an array of chairs outside, and Mark and Lexie picked two random ones.
There was nearly six feet of space in between them, when usually they would be sitting right next to each other, with Lexie snuggled up in his arms.
"So, how's Boston?" Mark said, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
"It's great. Really cold, and not so rainy like here. How's Seattle been for you?"
"You know, same old rain. Neuro, right?"
"Yeah, something about the brain always fascinated me. It's great, I'm saving lives, all the time. My social life has fallen to a halt tho." Lexie said, trying to make a joke.
"Yeah, Neuro was too much death for me. Too many brains." Mark said, trying to match her tone of voice.
"Sofia, she looks just like you and Callie, it's crazy."
"Yeah, it's kinda crazy. She acts just like Arizona, though." Mark said, thinking about his little girl.
"At least their relationship survived her." Lexie said, trying to make a joke.
"Yeah, at least theirs did. Well, I better head in. Gotta check in on the kiddo." Mark said, wanting to get away from her and all the feelings that were rising up to the surface.
"Wait, Mark. I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry for walking out, I'm sorry for leaving. I'm so sorry for hating you for wanting to be there for your kids. I still feel the same way, as I did two years ago. I'm still in love with you, and if you ever decide to forgive me, I'll be here, because I love you enough." Lexie says, her feelings from the past two years finally spilling out.
"Why? Why did you leave?" Mark said, his eyes meeting her.
"Because I couldn't be here, where everywhere reminded me of you and us."
"I, uh, I gotta go. Let me think." Mark said, his brain not even processing what he was saying.
How could she drop a bomb like this? That she was still in love with him? What scared him the most was that deep down, he knew he was still in love with her, and had always been.
Also, I'm just curious if you're watching season 17 live- do you want meredith to die? I personally do, I would love for Merder to be endgame, but I also don't want Amelia and Link to have to take all those kids. I'm slowly losing all my love for Amelink this season, and it's really making me sad.
