Arizona decided to go for a walk one sunny morning. The weather was not too hot, but warm enough to wear shorts and a tank top which is just what Arizona wore.
As she was walking she heard a loud voice that yelled "excuse me!" Arizona stopped and looked in the direction she heard the woman yelled. The woman walked closer to Arizona.
"Miss Robbins I'm Mahalia Robeson, Walter Boyd's grandmother." Arizona paused for a moment. "Oh yeah I remember you from the court room." Mahalia cleared her throat. "i need to talk to you."
Arizona got a little concerned now. "Okay, I need to call my partner first to come over if that's okay." The woman nodded.
Callie came as soon as she got the call, ringing the door bell she saw the blonde coming to open it. Callies mouth goes instantly dry as she see Arizona in the white tank top that showed her cleavage perfectly. She erased her thoughts and sent Arizona a smile as she walks in. They both take a seat as Mahalia places two cups of tea in front of them.
"It's either a retrial or take the plea" Mahalia starts off saying. "I know Walter is going to take the plea, i tried to talk him out of it but he just won't listen." She looks down for a quick moment before continuing
"How many years?" Arizona asks. "Twelve" she says sighing.
"Well if he's innocent he shouldn't take the plea" Callie added.
Mahalia slides a picture of Walter with his dog across the table. Callie and Arizona take a look, getting really close with each other. "Walter's dog is named Buddy and he loves that thing to death, he would never kill anyone I know him too well to know it." Callie slides the picture back to her.
"I've been taking care of him since he was six, he was in foster care for a while though since his mother ditched him." Arizona frowned and just felt like she needed to hold her in some way as she reached out to hold her hands. Callie likes the caring and thoughtful side of Arizona.
"Please, I need you two to defend my boy." The woman squeezes Arizona's hands tighter.
Arizona laughs nervously, she has never done a murder trial before. "I'm sorry but I've never done a murder trial before, I'm not that type of lawyer."
The woman frowns. "I see, I'm sorry to waste your time." Mahalia gets up and so does Callie and Arizona, both of them feeling bad, "Here take these though." Mahalia gives them more photos to take a look at, they weren't anything bad just regular photos.
Callie and Arizona both leave. "Hey Arizona I think we should talk more about this, can we maybe go back to your house if that's okay?" Arizona suddenly gets nervous just thinking about Callie in her house but she nods. They both walk silently together for a little bit until Callie breaks the silence.
"So, where were you walking" Callie asks. "Nowhere,I just wanted to get outside in this nice weather." That was a complete lie but she's not ready to open up to Callie just yet. "I was just relaxing by my pool before you called me, whenever it's hot you can always come back and chill in the pool." They are both picturing each other in bathing suits, Arizona just keeps nodding.
After what seemed like a while, they finally arrived at Arizona's house. Callie took a look as they got in. She instantly crouched down to pet the kitty. "Awww he or she is adorable!" The cat seems to love Callie already.
"We can sit on the couch if you'd like." Callie nods and they both sit down which was nice after walking for a while. Arizona pulled out the pictures and started looking through them. Arizona took the pictures seriously as she felt like Mahalia reminded her of her mother.
"What are you thinking about Arizona?" Callie got a little closer as she wanted to look at the photos with her. Arizona grabs a picture from from the table beside her. "This is my mom and I, she's always been so supportive and was always there for me no matter what." Callie took the frame, smiling as she saw the resemblance. "Mahalia just reminds me so much of my mom, I just wish I could do something for poor Mahalia."
Callie places a hand on Arizona's thigh and looks up. "What if we take this case." Arizona's eye widen to her saying that, but also the hand on her thigh. "Should we actually Callie?" Callie smiles as she bites her lip nodding.
"I have to say this, who the hell doesn't have a tv in their living room?" Arizona laughs at the random question. "Actually, my best friend Teddy and I got drunk one night and she crashed into my tv which fell straight to floor and shattered." Callie laughs just picturing the reaction to that.
"If you want we can watch a movie in my room." Callie likes the thought of just being in Arizona's room. "Sure, do you like horror?" Arizona quickly says no. "Horror scares me but you know what, I need to get over my fears so you're gonna help me today." Callie chuckles as they both get up and head to the bedroom. Arizona had a simple but nice room. At least she had a big tv screen which was right in front of the bed.
"Don't be shy, you can get under the covers with me I don't want you to be uncomfortable." Callie smiles as she gets under, both sitting close to each other.
"Any good horror movies Cal?" She has never heard Arizona use a nickname for her. "Lets watch the movie scream." The title already scared Arizona. Luckily it was still somewhat sunny outside but the room was partially dark.
"Callie the killer is right there watching her!" Arizona yells as she gets nervous. "He's best known for his stalking Zona." Arizona grips onto the blanket tightly as she feels like she's gonna need it for hiding. The killer is getting very descriptive about the blonde and where she is. "Cal I don't like where this is going."
"Shhh just watch." Arizona remains quiet and keeps going. The blonde is just running around the house with a knife trying to protect herself. "No don't go outside you dumb ass!" Callie just laughs. "Jesus Arizona, it's alright." Finally out of nowhere the man stabs the blonde which of course they put a loud noise. Arizona screams as she jumps. "Arizona it's okay I'm here, plus you're screaming at the movie called Scream." Just hearing Callie make that joke made her feel better.
The movie just kept going on and on, Arizona occasionally jumping at certain scenes. She just got too scared close to the end of the movie and grab Callie's arm with one hand not realizing it. Callie was all smiley inside and just let it happen. Arizona was so relieved when the movie was over.
"Callie I'm never watching a horror movie ever again." Arizona lets go of Callie's arm finally. "Hey at least you made it to the end I'm proud of you." They both get up from the bed and walk back out to the living room.
"I should get going, but I'm glad we got to talk to Mahalia and decide on taking on the murder trial." Callie ran her hand through her hair and blushed a little just thinking about her whole day. "Me too Cal, I know as lawyers we shouldn't be hanging out like this or getting way too close in our personal lives but I feel different around you and it just feels okay." Arizona walks Callie to the door, but she secretly didn't want to see Callie go.
"Hey Arizona.." Callie paused.
"Yes Callie?"
"Is it okay if I hug you?" Arizona just felt that gushy feeling that teenagers get over their high school boyfriends and girlfriends. Arizona instantly went to hug her. Callie rubbed her back softly and took in the scent of Arizona's hair once again. She didn't want to pull away but finally did.
They said their last goodbyes and Arizona shut her door. "Fuck this shouldn't be happening."
