Chapter 4: Kraneium

Bree's POV

The one and only Victor Krane. Of course, he's here. Can't get enough of us this man. It's starting to get a bit creepy now.

"Would it kill you to wait until after a date to attack us?" I said.

"A date?" Chase asks.

"Shut up," I said. Chase sets up his forcefield. He signals for me to get behind him to protect me. I do so.

"You just can't get enough of us can you?" he questions. He is right though, it is beginning to get a bit disturbing.

"Oh, you really are pathetic aren't you?" Krane asks. "And a date? You can't get partners so you go after your not so sibling?" Chase and I look at each other and then focus back on Krane.

"What do you want now Krane?" Chase asks again. I'm glad he broke us out of that look. I think it made things extremely awkward. Hang on, what if I send an alert to Mr. Davenport and Leo? They could bring reinforcements and help us!

"I think you know. I'm here to remove you from the picture," Krane answers. He then lifts up the beams that are part of the building's structure and begins to slowly press them down against us. I try to speed me and Chase away from where we were stood but Krane's other hand holds me still. I break off his molecular kinetic grip on me, but at the expense, I'm thrown back to the other side of the collapsing room

"Bree!" Chase screams, sprinting over to me. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I'm fine," I say. He gives me a quick hug before he gets back up and stares directly at Krane. I don't think I've ever seen more anger in his eyes before than there is there. I'm actually confused about how angry he is. I know he's bound to be angry when I get hit but I don't think he's ever been that angry in his life before…

"I think you should watch what you're doing," Chase spits out.

"I think you should watch your tone with me," he says. "I could crush you instantly, but I think I will enjoy myself, whilst I slowly end your meaningless existe-."

Chase throws a force field grenade at Krane's stomach whilst he's bragging about his pathetic abilities. It would be nice if Mr. Davenport arrived quickly. I'm beginning to get a tiny bit scared. If it wasn't for Chase being here, I think I would've crumbled from sheer fright.

Leo's POV

"Big D, have you got the distress call from Bree and Chase yet?" I say in a very, very panicked mood. I'm really worried about them now. Their quick description had the word Krane in it, and when he's around I am sure there's trouble.

"Why would they need a distress ca—they aren't out of the house, are they?" Big D asks through his teeth. I completely forgot to find an excuse for the reason why Bree and Chase are out right now!/

"Uhhhh they might be out at the new ice cream parlour…" I start, with him looking at me in total anger. "…and weren't gonna be home after your 9pm curfew…"

"You know what? I've got no time to be angry with you and those two. What did the description say?" Big D asks.

"Just one word… Krane…". It takes me a while to get those words out of my mouth because I'm actually terrified right now. The last time I saw him, he tried to kill me and my mom. And as much as I would love to get him back for that, I can't on my own.

Big D's eyes just open widely. He knows this is bad too, huh?
"Pack your bags now Leo, we've got to go rescue them. Get hold of Adam now."
I call him, and he says he's upstairs. We all head to the helicopter. We're gonna go rescue my brother and sister.

Chase's POV

The lunatic stumbles back up from my genius stun tactic. He slowly claps, presumably at my bravery, and starts laughing. My bionic hearing quickly picks up the grinding of helicopter blades, and I think Bree's brilliant idea to call Adam, Leo and Mr. Davenport might have just given us a fighting chance. She looks really attractive under pressure, and that was intelligence was incredible.

"Nice work Bree, I think we've just got some backup," I say to her, squeezing her hand. She puts her head on my shoulder as we and Krane look up, and Adam falls through the roof on top of him. Mr. Davenport and Leo slide down a rope in the hole made by Adam. The trio comes and stands inside of my newly formed force field.

"I didn't plan that but that was AWESOME!" Adam shouts. I don't know if he's fearless or just an idiot. Maybe both.

"Krane, don't you ever realise that you're never beating this family?" Mr. Davenport furiously says. I stand by him and back up his statement.

"I don't think you understand when to just either join me... or surrender. You'll never beat my unlimited power, no matter your numbers!" he says.

We split up quickly and begin to combat Krane. Adam shoots his heat vision at Krane, and he responds in kind directly at his beam. However, Adam is overpowered and is launched to the other side of the room by the sheer power of the explosion. Leo goes over to help Adam up and recover. Mr Davenport pointlessly shoots his laser gun at him, before Krane dodges the effort easily, and uses his molecular kinesis to throw the gun, and Davenport away. However, Davenport is thrown into pillows, so he is not injured.

"Bree, please don't. I can't see you get hurt," I beg. The last thing I need right now is to see the girl I'm slowly falling in love with potentially die at the hands of this absolute maniac.

"Chase, I have to try…" Bree says. I hold her arm back, but she shrugs me off and says, "no matter what, you know that I love you…"

Hold on, she loves me? Wait… just as a friend or… more? I don't know… but that doesn't matter, I'll ask her when we win. Hang on… oh no. Whilst I was talking to my mind, I let go of her arm, and she's gone to fight Krane.

I mean, to her credit, she's holding out. The remainder of us all stand together thinking of a plan. Everyone except myself speak together thinking of a plan, as I'm thinking of my own. And also watching Bree… I've never watched her when she's been fighting before, she looks extremely attractive. No, focus. I cannot let sexual desires ruin our chances.

Krane finally overpowers her sheer speed and kicks her with strength into the wall.

"BREE!" we all shout in unison, as she's thrown into the wall. At least the wall was padded, so she's not hurt. Though, I think she will be in a second…

Krane begins to charge up a powerful laser energy beam. It's clear he's going to finish off Bree with it. Adam starts to run towards him, but Krane shrugs him off easily. It looks like my emergency last-ditch plan is the last resort then. He's weak whilst charging it up… if I stab a force field grenade into his side, it would completely fry his bionic infrastructure and HE would be him out of the picture for a while. But, I think it might cost me MY life.

Anything for Bree though. I can't have her get hurt because of me. I glance over at her, whilst she's already looking at me. She shakes her head from side to side to say 'no!' but I can't. I love her.

I charge up a force field grenade, and I sprint full speed at the distracted Krane and smash the force field grenade into his side. It causes a gigantic explosion, and the walls collapse in on themselves. I don't know if we won.

Bree's POV

I finally wake up, and boy does my head hurt… Ugh, I'm covered in rubble. This totally ruins my makeup. I forgot the last few minutes I think. Wait, all I saw before was Chase… he was… charging up a force field grenade… and was… going to charge into Krane! I think he might be de—

"BREE!" Adam shouts, digging me out of the rubble. He picks me up and carries me over to where Mr. Davenport and Leo are stood.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," I say. Well I mean, I think I broke a rib but I'm sure I'll be fine.

"I'm going to call the authorities to arrest Krane. What were you thinking about going out after recent events this late?" Mr. Davenport angrily asks.

"I was only out getting ice cream with Ch- Chase!" I sprint over to him, but he's just lying there. I think he… might be dead…

Chase's POV

My eyes were gently opening…
"Ugh…" I say. My head was in so much pain.

"Chase!" Bree screams. Her voice rings throughout my head; my hearing was completely messed up. Though, I could hear her mouth "I love you…". Mr. Davenport, Leo, and Adam run over. I can't hear anything, but I could do one thing before I completely passed out.

With the last of my energy, I sat up and grabbed Bree's shoulder, and whispered into her ear four words.

"I love you too."

Bree's POV

Did he say it back? He did? I don't know if he means as just a friend or more, but I think he might be dead anyway, so it may not matter anyway.

"Mr. Davenport! Leo! Adam! Chase has gone!" I scream loudly. There was no pulse or anything… I'm really worried about him…/

Mr. Davenport runs over and checks his pulse, breathing, and behind his ear.

"Well?" I say, absolutely terrified.

"Adam, Bree, Leo…" he begins. "I think we've lost him…"

I sink to my knees. I break down and fall on his chest. I think everyone knew how close we were getting, and I completely zoned out as I think I've just lost the guy I love…
