In a hospital in Costa Rica – Dr Roberta Carter – assisted by a US Navy colleage – was finishing to heal a child who got bitten. « Here you go. » she said. « Gracias Seniora. » the little girl answered. « It's gonna take from one day to a week but appart from this she's gonna be alright. I stitched her after Roberta disinfected the injuries » the Navy doctor – Petty Officer Jackson Unger – said to the girl's parents. « Gracias soldier, and gracias miss Carter » the parents said.
Then two officers – wearing a green uniform mottled with black and tan small square-shaped dots – like Unger – approached. Unger saluted them. « At ease. » said the male one. « Back to work – doc ! » ordered the female one. The two then approached Dr. Carter. « We need to know what's happening here. », « I understand. Do your job. », « Do it – before other children get sick or something. Fortunately – the clinic was close to the place the incident occured. », « We'll do it. ». They then went near the little girl. « Hello. I'm US Navy Lieutenant – or if you prefer captain – Timmy Murphy. And this is my second-in-command – US Navy Ensign Jackie Nolan. » the man – now identified as US Navy Lieutenant Timmy Murphy – said. « We just want to know what bit you. » the woman – now known as US Navy Ensign Jackie Nolan – said. « A chupacabra. » answered the girl. « How did it look like ? A lizard ? A snake ? » Nolan asked. « Like the Huppia – seniora. », « We both see what you mean. Alright – go to your parents » Murphy said.
Carter and Unger enjoyed the fresh evening watching the sunset and decided to smoke a cigarette. We are medics and we smoke. Good example for the patients.
Bobby Carter was a doctor from Chicago. Exhausted by the lack of decent healthcare 24 years before – she decided to exile herself in order to heal people who were in real need. She decided to live in Costa Rica – whose inhabitants were sympathetic and warmwelcoming. She lived there since 1990
Jack Unger was born in New York in 1986 and always wanted to heal people in danger – which was why he studied Medicine and enlisted in the Navy. He didn't care his patients being Mexicans, or Afghans, or Iraqis. He even doesn't regard if the person he heals are US Sailors or Afghan children. To his eyes any injured person is a suffering individual who is in need of an immediate help.
Carter – unlike Unger – was the indirect witness of the failure of Jurassic Park. Four years later – legends about fishermen disappearing in Las Cinco Muertes. Nobody has ever seen a population feeling so unsafe at sea. Four years later – the world finds out InGen's activities of cloning dinosaurs to create a theme park following the San Diego Incident.
Everybody thought Ian Malcolm was crazy – Carter in firsthand. But Unger's superior – Murphy – knew he wasn't. The San Diego Incident proved Murphy and Malcolm to be right. Then – Hammond along with Sarah Harding, and Ian Malcolm fought for Las Cinco Muertes and the surrounding area to be quarantined by the UNO – in behalf respect for nature and ecology. That's why people were now wanting to go to Isla Sorna. Carter – and later Unger – knew what it was. Two times – they had to heal people who illegally ventured to this island.
It was going to be 10 years that a huge company named Masrani Corporation has exploited Isla Nublar again. To build a new dinosaur park : Jurassic World. 'Only for the roughheads.', they thought then. They didn't like the idea of recreating extinct species and knew the chupacabras and huppias were now living on Nublar. The 2001 Isla Sorna Incident proved their point – hence the 150 heavily armed US Navy sailors protecting the clinic and the activation in 2002 of the US 11th Fleet.
While thinking of back then – they heard a helicopter approaching. Unger understood it wasn't a Navy one. There was the now-well-known logo of InGen on it.
'Something's wrong on this island', they thought. « Something has gone south – Jackie. » Murphy – the commanding officer of the sailors – said. « Yeah. There's something fishy about this - Timmy. » Nolan confirmed.
They knew the only place in the country outside the Jurassic World theme park was the InGen docks nearby. They were indeed involved in the 1993 Jurassic Park Incident – and this event only strenthened the two officer's friendship. But they wished never to hear about Nublar again – which was why they both joined Annapolis Naval Academy at age 17.
However – the patients in Roberta's clinic coming from the island were ill even if their immune system was excellent. This was why she couldn't diagnocise anything but a fever.
Jack, and Bobby, and Timmy, and Jackie rushed towards the hospital landing platform – escorted by four of Timmy and Jackie's men – and took the stretcher when a thin redhead man came out. « I'm Ed Regis. Jurassic World Communication Director. », « Roberta Carter, and this is my US Navy counterpart – Jackson Unger. », « Why you here ? Dino bite ? », « Yes – indeed. I can't tell its name. Sorry. ». While rushing – Unger and Roberta thought that they were right : this so-called 'ultra-safe dino park' won't be everlasting. However – they had to heal people who got bitten by animals.
« His name is Manolo Dominguez. » Regis said
They accompanied Ed Regis and ordered two other surgical mask-wearing sailors to take him to surgery. « What happened ? » Timmy asked, « He got bitten by one of the largest carnivores of the park. », « I see what you mean. ». Neither Bobby, or the sailors – including Timmy and Jackie – ever took an interest in the dinosaurs of the island since 1997. None of them wanted to spend any day in here – minus if they were forced to come as backup.
« Our doctor started healing him – but said we should bring him to his family. », « Well done. When did that happen ? », « About two hours ago. »
When they arrived at the surgery room – the sailors began untying his bandages while Carter asked questions. « What was the thing that bit you – Manolo ? » she asked. « Es por El Diablo. » he answered. « Cause of the Devil. » translated Nolan. « He's gonna need some rest after we finish patching him up ! » said Unger. « I'm going back to San José. I've got a plane to catch for Christmas. Good evening everyone. » Regis said. « Good evening. » they all answered.
After going out of the hospital – Regis phoned a woman named Claire Dearing. « Hello Claire ? Manolo is a tough guy. The medic said he would be alright. We don't want this disease to compromise what we're doing. ». But he was eavesdropped by two Navy guards – one of whom got relieved and he therefore told the other staff they should get some blood samples from the injured employee.
One hour later – Timmy, and Jackie, and Jack, and Roberta decided to search the Internet for explanations – which they found under the form of an advertisment – which read : ' Diabolus Rex. The new attraction of Jurassic World. Coming in July 2015. The name of the species will be revealed in July 19th 2015. Come now for the 10 years of Jurassic World !'
« Here's why the poor man is here. » Roberta said. « That attraction shouldn't even exist. » Murphy said. « Yeah – I don't like this. I have some blood samples, and I'll send this to USAMRIID Dr. Marty Guitterez as well as the WHO and the UNO and the USAMRIID itself. We'll know what's up on this fucking island. » Nolan said.
