Chapter 4: Rockin' Activities

One hot second Saturday of April 2021, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri, along with one of my other best friends, Carly Shay and her parents, Sam and Freddie, at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Sarah Ching's house in Monroeville. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We ate waffles for breakfast and cobb salad for lunch. "Well, guys, we are getting closer to the big day!" I proudly announced. "The day when the 4 of us officially move in together and become sisters!" "Thank goodness for that!" Carly exclaimed. "Are you sure that you will be okay residing in our house, James?" Mrs. Shay asked. "Of course, Mrs. Shay," James replied. "Hey maybe, I can find a new male friend who can share special interests with me that do NOT involve the spa or fashion." "So, if you don't like the spa or fashion, Henri, what kinds of sleepover themes DO you like?" Mr. Benson asked. "You know how much we all love music, Mr. Benson," Henri pointed out. "Sports are also a common interest for all of us, as I still remember the day when James and I couldn't get tickets for a football game and we ended up playing our own game of football in the backyard." "Have you started getting everything packed and ready, Carly?" Sarah asked. "Of course, Sarah," Carly replied. "Living together with you, Angel, and Alex will be so exciting!" "I am excited to move in with you girls, too," I stated. "Just so you know, I got everything cleaned up and put in bags yesterday." "It will be similar to spring and summer camp, only 24/7!" Carly happily exclaimed. "Heck, I even remember when I couldn't get into a summer camp one summer, but I still had my family and my best friend to do activities with." "Your birthday is also coming up in a few days, Carly," I stated. "That will be fun and interesting." "Hey, hey!" Sarah C. exclaimed. "Aren't we going to focus on my party next Saturday? I have lots of great activities planned." "Like what?" I asked. "Well, for games, we will play Boa Limbo, Songwriting Competition, and Don't Forget the Lyrics," Sarah C. stated. "That's cool," Carly remarked. "What about activities?" "First, diva makeovers, then rocking out to karaoke, and making a music video for a chosen song," Sarah C. explained. "But, we are torn between making a video for either 'Into the Night' or 'Tearin' Up My Heart'. Those are both really good songs." "Well, you think about it next week and let us know, okay?" Sarah asked. "What about fun snacks to eat?" Carly asked. "Don't slumber parties always have those?" "Well, I am planning on serving Microphone Treats, Star Cookies, and Rock Star Cupcakes," Sarah C. told us. "Yum," I stated. "By the way, I played Boa Limbo this past Thursday as one of our activities from each sleepover." "Cool!" Sarah remarked. Then, we headed to Target to shop for everything that we needed. Henri and Mr. Benson helped shop for the ingredients for Star Cookies, as well as balloons and other supplies for the games and activities. James and Mrs. Shay helped shop for the ingredients for Microphone Treats, as well as a feather boa and a karaoke machine for Boa Limbo and rocking out. Sarah and Carly helped shop for the ingredients for Rock Star Cupcakes, as well as Sarah's very own makeover set for makeovers. After we finished shopping at Target, we had time to play a game of Truth or Sing, in which we had to either tell a truth about ourselves or sing one of our favorite songs, either from Santana or NSYNC. Once the game was over, Sarah, James, and Henri drove me back to my mentor, Jenna's apartment in Point Breeze. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Bye, guys!" "Bye!"
