'We missed ye at dinner love.' Carson had gotten up and walked over when he spotted Evy walk into the mess hall for breakfast the next morning. 'Everything alright?' He stood next to her in line, waiting for her to fill up her tray. She knew she couldn't put off getting breakfast for much longer, seeing as she had skipped dinner the night before. Radek had knocked on her door after the kitchen had closed but she had refused to open up. Eventually he'd left.
'Of course, just a lot of work to be done. Completely lost track of time.' She smiled at him and lifted the tray in front of her. 'Didn't stop till everything was dark.'
'What, you took work to your room then?' The doctor looked at her quizzingly. 'Dr. Zelenka came by the library a few times but ye never were there.'
Evy paused and looked at him. 'Yes', she finally managed to say, 'major Lorne completely wiped me out during the training session, so I picked up some work and took it with me.' She regretted mentioning Lorne's name instantly as Dr. Beckett visibly flinched and took a step back.
'Dinnae make it a habit okay?' He said absentmindedly. 'Dedication is one thing but we all need our rest. Even you.' He started to turn back to the table when Evy put her tray down and a hand on his arm.
'Carson.' She said softly. 'Do you have time for a walk later today? Get some fresh air.'
'Ah, I'm really busy. Dinnae know if I can make the time.' He started, already turning and ready to walk away.
'Dr. Beckett.' She snapped at him and her formal address made him look up. She gave him a stern look. 'You're telling me I need to get some rest. Then so should you. During a walk. With me. Later today.'
There was no arguing with her and Carson agreed. 'Alright then. I'll join ye.'
The walk was postponed, much to Evy's displeasure, as Dr. Beckett was requested to join the team on an expedition with Lt. Colonel Sheppard and his crew to an ancient outpost where they'd discovered the remains of a battle. Each passing day of them being away, Evy spent in the library, reading through the tablets and writing endless notes for Dr. Weir, which Kavanagh picked up every day for her. She figured it was Dr. Weir's way of keeping the "threat" of a target on her back alive, as Kavanagh reminded her of his duty during each visit.
Whenever she could she sought out Radek and spent time laughing and cajoling with him to keep her spirits up but she couldn't get herself to tell him the truth. She figured he probably knew something was off but whenever he tried to discuss this with her, she'd shrug him off and told him she was merely a little homesick.
The few times she crossed paths with Dr. Weir, she simply smiled and kept her head down, avoiding conversations as much as possible. During meetings where she was requested to sit in, she sat in the back and only made a sound when directly addressed.
Once the team had returned from their mission, they brought back photographs and more evidence of Ancient script for her to translate but Evy hadn't been given the information yet. She'd seen Dr. Beckett several times from a distance but whenever she noticed him moving in her direction, she found an excuse to leave or at one point even ran into a hallway, simply to avoid crossing his path. It was a shame she hadn't been paying attention where she was going and collided with Dr. Zelenka.
'What are you doing?' Radek huffed as he adjusted his glasses and Evy looked at him panicked, after a short glance over her shoulder.
'Nothing', she squeaked nervously.
'Everything alright over here?' Dr. Weir and Dr. Beckett appeared in the hallway.
Evy whipped around and nodded quickly. 'All good. Just a little challenge in giving right of way.' She quipped. 'You know what these scientists are like.' And with a lopsided smile she turned back to Zelenka, mouthed "I'm sorry" and quickly walked away, leaving the doctors staring at her retreating form.
'When can you have these translated, do you think?' Dr. Weir asked as she lowered her tablet and looked directly at Evy.
Evy stared at the pile of information on the table. It would probably take her at least two weeks to have everything sorted and ready, if she dedicated all her time on it. She swallowed hard. 'A month, maybe two?'
Dr. Weir frowned. 'A month?' She eyed the documents. 'For this?'
'I'm still working on some of the other translations at the moment. If you prefer me to move to these translations first, I can but it will mean the others will be delayed.'
Dr. Weir shook her head. 'No, that's fine. Keep doing what you're doing now. A month then', she concluded. 'Keep me informed.'
Dr. Kavanagh stood in the door opening and looked down on Evy as she walked through, carrying the documents in her arms. 'Work hard.' He said under his breath and she quickly moved away. He gave her the creeps more and more with each passing day.
'Dr. Crawley', Dr. Beckett came running after her and Evy turned, seeing the man with a tablet in his hand. 'You forgot this one.' Eyeing her already full arms he smiled. 'Why don't I just walk with ye? And give me a few of them.'
'Oh it's fine', Evy started but Carson had already taken several of the documents from her and was balancing them in his arms.
They walked in silence to the library and only spoke when they came across someone they knew. They briefly stopped to talk to one of the scientists that had been working on something for Dr. Beckett and while it was clear that the man was in the mood for a long-winded discussion, Carson eventually cut him off and urged Evy to continue.
Back in the library they carefully arranged the tablets in what they thought was the easiest order for translation, moving alongside each other, reaching over and under and when they were finished, Evy looked down at the table worried. How was she going to get all of this done within a month and find the formula Dr. Weir was looking for? She didn't even notice Carson calling her name until he put his hand on her arm and he looked up at him in surprise. She couldn't tell for sure what kind of a face he was making but he was slightly flushed.
'You were miles away, weren't ye love?' He said.
She nodded her head. 'Miles, yes.' She then cleared her throat and was about to thank him for carrying the tablets all the way to the library when he stopped her abruptly by pulling her close and covered her lips with his own. Her head started spinning but as opposed to pulling away, she wrapped her arms around his waist and he deepened the kiss. One hand cupped the back of her head and the other pressed against the small of her back, pushing their bodies closer together.
'Carson.' Evy whispered when he released her lips and she took a deep breath. He was slowly trailing kisses down her neck and she was trying hard to figure out what to say but the words just were lost with every featherlight kiss that brushed her skin.
When he finally lifted his head, Carson pressed his lips closely onto hers again until finally releasing her ever so slightly to lean his forehead against hers. 'I've wanted to do that from the first day we met.' he said. 'I'm sorry it took me so long.'
She shook her head and smiled. 'Likewise and I'm glad you did.' She whispered, stroking her hand down his neck and running her fingers through his hair. She could feel him shiver at the sensation and he tightened his arms around her. 'What made you do it?'
'I spoke to Zelenka.'
Evy closed her eyes, laughed and then sighed. Carson ran his hand slowly up and down her back and gently locked his lips on the soft skin right below her jaw. 'What did he have to say?' She sighed at the feeling of his lips brushing her skin.
'He called me a damned fool. That he dinnae think I was that big of a fool until then. He told me how avoiding ye was only going to end up hurting both of us.' He lifted his head and looked her in the eyes. 'And he used some colorful language I dinnae understand, to make his point I guess.'
'Yeah, he's good at that. And if it makes you feel any better', Evy smiled and let her hands slide down the sides of his neck and rested them on his chest, feeling his heart hammer against the palm of her hand. 'He said the same to me. Although I do know some of the words by now.' After their collision days earlier and her abrupt departure, Radek had scolded her. While she felt embarrassed, she couldn't fault her friend as he was usually right and once he started giving his honest opinion, he wasn't one to pussy-foot around.
'I'm so sorry, love.' He said.
'So am I. I was just being silly.' And afraid, but she didn't say it aloud. Instead she let him kiss her and slid her arms back around his neck. He pulled her close and they leaned back against the table, oblivious to anything around them.
'I dinnae want to keep ye from your work but I can't seem te let go.' He breathed in her neck.
'Then don't' Evy smiled as she kissed the soft skin right underneath the line of dark hair in his neck.
Like two school children skipping class they snuck through the hallway and soon found themselves safely hidden away in Carson's neat quarters. The moment the door closed they were back in each other's arms, kissing frantically. Excitement crackled through the air and with trembling hands from anticipation, Carson's fingers slipped underneath Evy's top. 'I'm normally not this much in a rush', he said excitedly as Evy slid her fingers around the waist of his trousers.
'Rush me.' She said before he claimed her mouth in a kiss that was riddled with urgency and lust. Evy kissed him back with all the pent up feeling she'd been pushing down and unable to contain herself she pulled him towards the bed. They kicked off their shoes and collapsed on the covers. Weeks of nerves and anxiety disappeared as she felt his hands explore her skin, hurriedly removing every item of clothing he could lay his hands on and pressing himself close. She could feel him growing hard between them as he worked on undressing her and she occasionally ran her fingers across the straining fabric that kept his cock covered. He moaned as she lifted herself up, grasped him through the fabric. 'Touch me. Touch me wherever you want.' She breathed in his ear as she released him and she could hear him groan as he pressed down between her legs.
'Yer killin' me, ye know that right?'
With a wicked smile she slid her hands down, slipped underneath the waistband of his underwear and grabbed the round soft skin. 'Exactly.'
For a brief moment he paused, taking in her naked body and he pressed kissed on her skin. Leading from her nipples to her neck, up to a deep kiss before following a trail down to her stomach and then locking his lips down on her clitoris. A gentle sucking combined with clever fingers massaging around her clit and moving inside her sent shivers up and down her body. Her legs started trembling as he built the pressure between her lips and she started rocking her hips gently. She shivered when, with a final fierce suck on her clit that made her cry out, she trembled and felt a wave of heat rising from her pelvis to her cheeks. Satiated she sighed, slightly disappointed when he removed his fingers and slid up to face her. He was beyond excited and she could feel his hot cock standing up straight, sliding its head across her legs. She had no idea when he had removed his underwear but she could feel him slide himself up and down through the wetness between her lips, slicking himself up.
'Look at me.' He locked eyes with her, the head of his cock pressed firmly against her opening but not moving a muscle. For a moment, that felt like an eternity he stared at her and when she thought she couldn't take it any longer he thrust up, entering her and gasping for air as she sucked him into the heat of her body. 'Oh god.' He grunted and closed his eyes, not moving. She could feel him trembling and she embraced him, wanting to feel him, all of him, his shape inside her.
Then, with slow and deep thrusts he started moving in and out, keeping a steady pace, leaving Evy clinging to him, running her nails up and down the skin of his back, moaning gently as he pressed deeper and deeper. Her little love bites and moans seemed to rile him up and he sped up the pumping into her until he was thrusting at a punishing pace, lying on top of her, leaning on his elbows, his face above her. Kisses rained over her face and Evy clutched her hands around the curve of his butt, tilting her hips up, forcing him even deeper until he collapsed over her. 'I'm going to come.' He moaned, barely audible and she kissed him before pulling him close. She leaned in. 'Come inside me.' She breathed his ear and his body started to spasm. Jerking over and over as his orgasm hit him, spilling himself until with a contented sigh he relaxed, still buried deep inside her.
Evy looked over her shoulder one last time to watch Carson's sleeping frame before the door softly slid shut. With a deep sigh she quietly walked down the hall and up the stairs to her own quarters. The heavy thud of a boot behind her made her jump and she quickly turned to see a tall, broad shouldered officer walking up to her. 'God, you scared me.' She smiled, looking the man up and down until he came to a halt in front of her. 'We've not met yet.'
'No ma'am', the man replied and held out his hand. 'I'm part of major Lorne's team. They call me Storm.'
Evy took the large hand and shook it briefly. 'Is that your real name?' She asked when he released her.
'No, it's not but it's a nickname that stuck with me since training. People joked when they saw me tackle the obstacle courses that it was like looking at a storm. Never been called anything but ever since.'
Impressed Evy nodded and then cleared her throat. She needed a shower and wanted to get back to the library. 'Well', she began, 'nice to meet you, Storm…' she said pointedly, 'if you'll excuse me, I need to get going.' She turned and started walking but the man caught up with her and matched her pace, walking closely beside her.
'I heard you're working on finding the healing tablets.' He asked, looking straight ahead.
'News travels fast.'
'Especially when we can all agree that tablets like that could be very valuable.' Storm stated and Evy frowned.
'For humanity, yes.' She answered, slowing her pace. 'It could save millions of lives.'
'And make people very rich.'
Evy stopped walking and turned to the officer next to her. 'Only if it fell into the wrong hands.' She carefully said, looking at the man, trying to see what his reaction would be.
Storm had stopped as well and was now facing her. 'And what hands would those be? Hands that are currently being held by a certain doctor leading this expedition?' He raised an eyebrow. 'Kavanagh', said when he saw confusion cross over Evy's face. 'I saw you two get very close the other day. It was like two kids on a playground, fighting over something. Rumours spread fast you know, and what would Dr. Weir say if her newest team member was conspiring with another expedition team member?'
Evy sighed and shook her head. This man had no idea what he had seen and she smiled. All she wanted now was to get away from him. 'You seem a bit too old to believe in high school rumours. These are kid's antics', she laughed as she passed by the bulky frame. 'Time to grow up, wouldn't you say? This isn't a playground.' She was still smiling when she turned the corner and a hand grabbed her hair from behind and dragged her through an open door into an empty room. 'What the fuck? Get the..'
Storm's hand slid over her mouth as he stopped Evy from finishing her cry and he pinned her up against the wall with his body, towering over her. Up close he was even more impressive that he had been in the hallway and it took him no effort to stop her from struggling against him. 'Listen up little girl', he whispered as he looked at the open door but kept his hand firmly over her mouth. 'You're going to find that fucking tablet and you're going to find it fast. Once you have it, you bring it to me without being discovered. To anyone else at this base, it'll be as if you've never found it ok? Fuck me over and I will make your life a living hell. Blink once if you understand me.' He turned back at her and stared intently at her.
Straining against the large man Evy blinked once, afraid what would happen if she didn't. If he was capable of keeping her in place with merely his body, she didn't want to know what else he could do if he was angry and really put some effort into it.
'Good. Now I'm going to let you go and you're going to go back to work. If you so much as breathe a word about this to anyone, especially that little lab doctor buddy of yours, I promise, you will regret it.' He paused for a moment and looked down on Evy's trembling face. 'You know', he grinned, leaning in a little, 'I can see what all the men in the team are talking about. I'll agree with Major Lorne on this one, you are a pretty little thing. Must be nice to be the one fucking you.' And with that he pushed away, releasing Evy, who didn't move away from the wall.
'You know what you have to do.' He said right before he walked away, leaving Evy trembling and alone.
