Author's Note: Welcome to Chapter 4. Sorry for taking long on this Chapter. I was just struggling with the dialogue.

Also, I've picked a girl for Naruto, as the reviews mostly suggest her. I'm sorry if the girl of your choice was not picked.

Anyway onto Chapter 4:

The Uchihas

Uchiha Compound:

Time: 6am

It was a cold morning and Itachi, who has a day off, decided to train Sasuke. Sasuke was practicing his taijutsu against Itachi and he was being ruthless. He was trying to fix all errors in Sasuke's fighting style which had a lot of openings. Sasuke was already bruised up, and they haven't even got to the hard part. Itachi had learnt he was easy to anger and tried to work on that with him and did this by berating the Uchiha name, and of course even though Itachi was an Uchiha, he got defensive about the Uchiha name and when he was fighting, this provided more openings. Itachi didn't want Sasuke to become a arrogant Uchiha, so he told him

"Sasuke, your name doesn't make you strong, neither does the sharingan." Itachi sternly said while staring into Sasuke's eyes.

"What do you mean Itachi, of course it does. We can read movements and everything. We Uchiha are the strongest, we are unbeatable." Sasuke proudly said, with a tinge of arrogance

Itachi angrily stared at Sasuke, but didn't show it on his face. Itachi walked up to Sasuke and punched him.

"OWWW! HEY! What was that for." Sasuke said annoyed, who was now on the ground.

"Your arrogance disgusts me Sasuke, trust me when I say this, arrogance will not get you far. Many Uchiha died in the recent war due to arrogance and stupidity. Remember there is a difference between confidence and arrogance. I can see you are blindly arrogant." Itachi said, looking at Sasuke to see how he would react.

"So why does the public like us so much." Sasuke questioned his brother

"They don't like us, but they don't hate us. They have respect for us, for our efforts in the war. Also merchants spread the word that we are good, because we do business with them. That's the only reason." Itachi said calmly

"Big brother, you're joking right." Sasuke said looking expectantly at Itachi

"Sasuke, does it look like I'm joking." Itachi said, looking away from Sasuke and trying to figure out what he can train him in.

"Oh" was all Sasuke said as he watched Itachi trying to figure what to do next.

"Anyway, you are now going to train your physical body. That means doing some exercise routines, like push ups, laps around the field, sit ups and lifting some weights." Itachi advised Sasuke, who had his mouth wide open, wondering what he did wrong.

Sasuke started the physicals and Itachi observed him, wondering what Sasuke could do next and he looked at the shurikens and thought, 'Shurikenjutsu?'. Sasuke did a 100 pushups during the time Itachi was getting some targets, shuriken and kunai. Sasuke finished the exercises, and was laying on the ground out of breath. Itachi walked up to him and said,

"Get up, you have more training to do." Itachi watched as Sasuke stood up slowly.

Itachi said, "You are going to practice your Shurikenjutsu, then we can go home." as Sasuke just sighed tiredly. Sasuke had bruises and cuts all over his body. Itachi watched as Sasuke walked up to the shurikens and kunais. Sasuke picked one of them up and looked at the shuriken in his hand. He held the shuriken by one of its points and threw it at the target. He missed terribly. Itachi sighed and walked up to Sasuke and showed him how to hold the shuriken and how to throw it. After some attempt he started to improve and hit the targets. He wasn't able to hit bullseye, but continued practicing. Itachi said,

"You need to have a calm head Sasuke. Also you need to think before you throw the kunai or shuriken." Sasuke just looked at his brother, wondering why he needed to think before he threw if he was going to hit the target.

"But Itachi, I hit all the targets, I can't hit what I cannot see." Sasuke said, wanting an explanation.

"Sasuke, remember you need to preserve your weapons. You never know when you might run out of kunai and shuriken. Also it is possible to hit what you can't see." Itachi replied back to Sasuke.

"Oh." Sasuke said knowing he's out of kunai and shuriken. "But how is it possible to hit what you cannot see?" Sasuke questions Itachi.

"Sasuke, I placed a target behind that big rock. Sasuke you need to be aware of your surroundings. And before you ask, yes I can hit that target from here." Itachi then walked up to the shurikens and kunai. He took two kunai. "You want me to hit the target from here right?" Itachi asked Sasuke.

Sasuke nodded, as he watched Itachi calm himself. He watched him jump in the air and throw a kunai. He was baffled because that kunai was going nowhere near the target. Then he saw Itachi throw a second kunai, which hit the first kunai. Causing the first kunai to hit target on the bullseye.

Sasuke was astonished. He had his mouth gaping wide open, with eyes bulging out. Itachi landed on his feet and then walked up to Sasuke. Sasuke quickly closed his mouth and calmed himself down.

Itachi could see the face Sasuke pulled when he hit the target. He said, "Sasuke, with enough practice you will be able to do that." Said Itachi

"Can we continue training right now?" asked Sasuke, desperately wanting to get stronger.

Itachi just poked Sasuke on the forehead and said, "Maybe next time Sasuke, right now we need to get home, before mother finds you out here all dirty." Itachi said, looking at Sasuke who looked annoyed.

"Big brother, why do you always poke me on the forehead?" Sasuke said with an annoyed face. Itachi just smiled and replied

"Just to make sure you're listening." Itachi lied, hiding his feelings from Sasuke. "Anyway Sasuke, let's get home before Mother realises you are gone." Sasuke instantly tensed feeling fear, after being a victim to his Mother's cruel punishments.

Sasuke's House

Time: 7AM

Itachi and Sasuke left the area and quickly got home. Unluckily for Sasuke, his Mother was expecting him and she shouted at him for ruining his clothes. Itachi just stood there and witnessed him get punished and had a slight smirk, enjoying Sasuke being shouted at and being forced to do chores. Last time Itachi was shouted at and forced to do chores because of Sasuke. Sasuke was forced to clean the entire house, including the bathroom. He had to do the dishes and clean all of the windows. After Mikoto calmed down she looked at Itachi and saw the tiny smirk on his face. Itachi realising his smirk was in view of his Mother, he instantly went stoic. He sat down and asked his mother, "Where is father?"

Mikoto replied, "Clan meeting. Anyway where were you this morning? I thought you had the day off?"

Itachi said, "Yeah, I do have a day off, so I decided to train Sasuke." wondering when his Father would return.

Mikoto asked, "Shouldn't you rest? The other clan members or your father can train Sasuke, can't they?"

Itachi replied, "I understand I should rest, but Sasuke has become arrogant because of father and the other clan members. So I decided to stop that arrogance from developing. I suggest you talk with father to stop making Sasuke arrogant, because Father won't listen to me."

Mikoto sighed and said, "I will talk to him about it, and on a positive note at least you are spending time with each other." They sat in silence, while Sasuke was cleaning the kitchen. "So, how is that girl, Izumi was her name right?" Mikoto asked, eyeing Itachi to see any reaction.

Itachi had a slight blush, but it wasn't visible to his mother or so he thought and he replied, "She's fine, we talked a few days ago. How do you know about her?"

Mikoto replied with a smile, "Shisui."

Itachi was thinking to himself, 'Damn you Shisui, again seriously. I will get you for this.'

"Anyway, she was one of the top kunoichi's from your year right? Mikoto asked, received a nod from Itachi, and then continued, "You should have stayed in the academy and made more friends."

"Shisui, Kakashi and Izumi are my friends." Itachi replied, trying to justify himself.

"Two of them are Uchiha, and Kakashi is your partner from Anbu." Mikoto deadpanned and continued, "Is that all."

Itachi was about to reply, but couldn't think of any other friends he had. He just sighed as his Mother knew that was all. He remembered when his father told him to take the graduation exam early. When he was in his genin team he made friends with the two genin with him. This was when he was 7 years old. But, shortly after Kushina's death, they died on a mission to a masked man. Even now he goes to visit their graves, because they were one of his first friends. Kushina died when Itachi was 7 years old.

"Mother, I need to go somewhere. I'll be back later." Itachi informed as he stood up and walked out the door.

Sasuke, who was done cleaning the house and doing all the other chores, made him tired. It took him an hour to do the chores. He decided to take a quick shower, so he doesn't stink. He washed his armpits especially because recently a foul smell started to come from there.

Time: 8:15AM

He put his clothes on, which was a navy blue collared shirt with the Uchiha symbol on the back. He wore this collared shirt along with white plaid shorts. He also added forearm warmers, and was also wearing sandals. He walked out of his bathroom into his bedroom and then looked at the books on his desk. It was on chakra control. He was reading it last night, knowing that Itachi had a day off. He snapped out of daze and left his bedroom to see his Mother just sitting in the living room, sipping tea. He just walked into the kitchen but then heard, "Did you clean the house as I asked you to?"

"More like you forced me to." Sasuke loudly mumbled.

"What was that Sasuke, it seemed you said something about being forced." Mikoto replied standing at the entrance of the kitchen with a cup of tea in her hand watching Sasuke pour juice into a glass.

Sasuke instantly tensed when he felt his Mother's voice closer, and said, "No, no you misheard me, I said 'Of course I did', you see many people get forced and of course mixed up." nervously lying, still with his back to his Mother.

"Good, now don't mess those clothes up." Mikoto advised.

Sasuke with his glass of juice walked into the living room and sat down. He opened the book on the coffee table. The book was about fire ninjutsu. He wanted to impress his father, as he rarely got any attention from him. After finishing his glass of juice, he told his mother, "I'm leaving, see you later."

"Don't mess up your clothes, and don't come home too late." Mikoto replied

Uchiha Compound

Time: 8:30AM

Sasuke walked out of the house and onto the streets of the Uchiha Compound, and he saw people walking in and out of shops. He remembered, when Itachi brought him to meet Shisui.

Flashback:

"Hey Itachi, is that your brother?" Shisui asked, looking who was behind Itachi.

"Yeah, we just finished doing some training and he followed me." Itachi answered Shisui, revealing Sasuke behind him.

"What's his name?" asked Shisui to Itachi.

Itachi replied by putting his hand on Sasuke's shoulder and saying, "Sasuke."

Sasuke asked before anyone could speak, "What's your name?"

"Shisui." replied Shisui extending a hand towards the five year old. He continued and asked, "So, do you always follow your brother, when he's off duty?"

Sasuke replied with, "Is there anything wrong in that?" shaking Shisui's hand.

Itachi just watched the encounter and said nothing, letting his brother interact with Shisui. Shisui suggested that they should get something to eat, so they left the Uchiha Compound and went to a restaurant. Shisui wanted to celebrate with Itachi, for getting a promotion to Anbu at the age of 12. Shisui brought them to a high end restaurant, Sasuke enjoyed his time getting to know about Shisui and learning about Itachi's promotion. Sasuke said, "Itachi, last week, I saw some blonde kid getting kicked out of the store, but after the kid left, I went inside the store and got greeted normally. I think I also saw him crying when he ran away."

Itachi stopped eating his steak and looked at Sasuke and asked, "Did you talk to him after he ran away."

Sasuke replied, while Shisui was listening, "No, I didn't get a chance to, because there was a big crowd around him and he ran away the instant people started to talk about him."

Shisui said, "I think I heard of the boy, apparently he pulls off a lot of pranks and is a loudmouth."

Itachi looked at Shisui, knowing he must know who the boy was as it was known to pretty much everyone. Sasuke replied, "Ohh, that probably makes sense then. He might have tried to pull a prank on the owner of the shop."

Itachi didn't care to respond. He was going to let Sasuke learn about Naruto himself. Itachi just continued eating. Shisui said, "I think he got caught graffiting on the Hokage Monument. At least he brings some life to the village, even though it does create a ruckus."

Itachi replied, "Anyway, how about we talk about something else." signalling to Shisui to change the conversation as he was tired about hearing about Naruto.

"So Itachi, how was that girl. Her name was Izumi right. I hear you have been hanging around her a lot more nowadays." Shisui cheekily asked gaining a glare from Itachi, and a curious look from Sasuke

"Brother, who is Izumi?" Sasuke asked, wanting to know about her. Itachi still glaring at Shisui thought, 'Damn you, can't you keep a secret. I swear if you tell my parents.'. Quickly looking at Sasuke and replying with a slight blush, "Oh, Izumi… Um, just a friend."

Shisui just grinned, "Oh, so why are you blushing. And you faltered, before you said 'Um, just a friend.'." Itachi switched back to glaring at Shisui and said'

"Why can't you keep a secret?" Itachi asked, sighing at Shisui.

"Look, Itachi if you like the girl, then just tell her. I'm pretty sure she feels the same way." Shisui replied.

Sasuke said, "Are you talking about Izumi Uchiha? Because if you are, she left something at home in my room. Telling me to give a scroll to you."

Itachi asked, "Why was she in your room and why did she give it to you?"

Sasuke replied quickly, "Because she thought it was your room and I think it might have been urgent."

Shisui cheekily implied, "Maybe it's her letter of confession to liking you Itachi."

Itachi said, "Shut up, Shisui. Sasuke when we get home, give me that scroll. I don't want Mother to find it. And can we please change the topic."

Shisui replied, "Fine, I guess that's enough teasing for today anyway. So Sasuke, are you going to enter the Academy next year?"

Sasuke answered, "Yes."

Shisui and Itachi just looked at each other, because of that bland response. The academy had changed since the war. Now it includes more book knowledge. They even toned it down to basic ninjutsu. The Hokage apparently made it so ninja had more of a childhood, instead of constant training.

Shisui said, "At least make more friends than Itachi. This guy still struggles when it comes to social stuff."

Sasuke asked, " But wouldn't they just drag me down? If I need to get stronger, I don't need to have friends holding me back." Itachi just sighed at that response and thought to himself, 'You are truly arrogant Sasuke.'

Itachi replied, "Sasuke, your arrogance will hold you back. Friends can actually elevate your strength."

Sasuke countered it with, "But you hardly had any friends and you are one of the strongest in the leaf."

Itachi sighed to himself, because his brother looked up to him and Sasuke wanted to follow in his footsteps. Itachi thought to himself, 'Maybe I should have made more friends.' Before Itachi could speak, Shisui replied to Sasuke, "Sasuke, a friend can save a life, imagine you have a friend beside you, they can protect your back while you protect theirs. If that friend isn't there, then you would die."

Sasuke again countered with, "Yeah so I will have to get stronger, so that I don't need protection."

Itachi replied quickly, "Then tell me Sasuke why the Hokage have personal guards to protect them."

At this Sasuke fumbled and couldn't reply. He knew the Hokage was the strongest in the village and had personal guards. Sasuke thought to himself, 'Maybe having friends isn't a bad idea.'

After a couple of hours of talking and eating, they left the restaurant and Shisui went home, as it was nearing nighttime. Itachi and Sasuke wanted to go around Konoha and see what was happening. Itachi and Sasuke were casually walking the streets of Konoha, looking at ninja talking to each other, drinking, eating or chasing cats. After seeing the cat getting chased, Sasuke shivered. Sasuke started to wonder if his Brother ever chased a cat.

"Hey Brother, have you ever chased a cat?" Sasuke asked, looking up at Itachi.

"Why are you suddenly asking, Sasuke?" Itachi replied back, looking down at Sasuke.

"Because, I've seen a bunch of ninja chase that black cat." Sasuke answered, still wondering if Itachi had chased it or not.

"Yes, I have chased that black cat. Only once though." Itachi answering Sasuke's question.

"How come it's always around Konoha then?" Sasuke asked again

"It has a tendency to escape." Itachi replied as he continued to stroll through the streets of Konoha as the Sun had finished setting.

Sasuke said, "I think I should go home, before Mother gets angry."

Itachi replied knowing his Mother was not someone to anger, "Yeah, you better go. See you later."

Sasuke said, "Bye."

End of Flashback

Sasuke started to head towards the exit of the Uchiha compound until an old lady started to talk about him and how his mother was. After conversing for a few minutes, he left the Uchiha compound.

Streets of Konoha

Time: 8:45AM

Sasuke was casually walking through the streets of Konoha and went inside a dango store. After a couple of minutes, he exited and appeared with a dango stick in his mouth. He started to think about the girl Itachi liked and wondered if his Mother knew about her already considering Shisui was a loudmouth. He still contemplated if making friends was a good idea. So he decided to blow some steam off and head to the public training grounds.

He saw that Training Ground 27 was empty and headed towards there to increase his stamina. Once he arrived at Training Ground 27 he saw it was free, until he saw a Blonde meditating by a tree. Immediately the Blonde opened his eyes and asked, "Who's there?" Sasuke stopped observing and entered the Training Ground.

Training Ground 27

Time: 9AM

Sasuke stepped into view of the Blonde and could see his attention was directed at him as soon as he stepped out. Once Sasuke was in front of the Blonde, he asked, "I thought this Training Ground was free to use as it stated no one was here. So why are you here?"

"Huh, I was meditating, That's what I was doing and I'm here because I wanted to train. And by the way why are you questioning me? If anything I should be questioning you?" the Blonde answered.

Sasuke replied, "I'm questioning you because you are not supposed to be here. And you are not even from a clan, so what are you doing here. Only clan members are allowed to use Training Grounds 25 to 35."

"Oh, shut up. As if I care if these training grounds are for clan members only. Anyway what uptight clan are you from?" The blonde asked not even caring.

Sasuke replied with a boast, but still angry at the attitude of this guy, "The great Uchiha clan. And they are not uptight."

"Oh your right, you're not a Hyuuga. I'm sorry, I meant arrogant." the blonde replied with a smirk

"Shut up you clanless loser." Sasuke angrily said, because of the disrespect this guy was giving his great clan.

"Why does it matter if I'm from a clan or not. Just because your name is great, doesn't mean you are great." the blonde calmly replied.

Sasuke who was still angry said, "Shut up, the Uchiha are the greatest in Konoha for a reason, the power is in the blood. You just need to unlock it."

The blonde replied, "Oh really, so the Fourth Hokage isn't powerful?" looking at Sasuke.

Sasuke fumbled and didn't know what to say, because he knew the Fourth was considered the strongest. He just looked at the blonde who was looking at him. Sasuke just sighed and sat down next to the blonde. "What's your name?" asked Sasuke, curious to know this boy's name.

The blonde looked at the Uchiha sitting next to him and replied, "Naruto."

Sasuke replied, "My name is Sasuke."

Naruto looked out in front of him, it was plain green grass as the rising sun shone on to it. Naruto asked, "Why were you coming to train?"

Sasuke replied, "I wanted to increase my stamina, so I can last longer in fights."

"If I could share some of my stamina, I would, but I can't." Naruto said

"What do you mean by that?" asked Sasuke

"I meant I have too much stamina. Anyway how old are you? You seem to be around my age." Naruto replied

Sasuke said, "Oh, um… I'm 5 years old, how about you?" curious, looking expectantly at Naruto

Naruto answered, "I'm also 5 years old." and asked, "So are you going to join the academy next year?"

"Yeah, how about you?" answered Sasuke, as he questioned Naruto again.

"Same. So have you unlocked your Sharingan yet?" asked Naruto

"No, not yet. And how do you know about the Sharingan, loser?" Sasuke replied wanting an answer out of Naruto

"It's common knowledge nowadays. You really are stupid, if you don't know that, idiot." Naruto replied, with a cheeky grin.

"If you want you can train by the way, I'm just meditating. I already did my training earlier." Naruto said, gesturing to Sasuke he didn't need to use the field.

Sasuke just stood up and started to get ready to run some laps. After a couple of minutes, Naruto stood up and said, "I've gotta go now." Sasuke stopped his laps and walked up to Naruto and said

"Alright, see you around." Sasuke replied.

Naruto was about to leave, but before he left he extended a hand towards Sasuke and said, "Friends?"

Sasuke just shaked his hands and looked the other way and said , "Fine, loser."

Naruto started walking away, and thought, 'I wonder if Shikamaru is free.' Sasuke continued his laps around the training ground and wondered, 'Maybe brother is right.'
