One time, at the racetrack, Vanellope was pushing her home-made kart to the back of the starting line. But she got caught. Wynchell and Duncan jumped out from the shadows and grabbed the little girl, who kicked and fought but their grip was too strong for her tiny body. The donut cops brought Vanellope to the castle, where King Candy was waiting there happily. "Aah, if it isn't our favourite little glitch." He said, stalking over to Vanellope who was still restrained by Wynchell and Duncan. King Candy placed the end of his cane underneath Vanellope's chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. "Thought you could get away with racing did you, gumdrop?" He mocked.

"You just wait, I know I'm a racer, I can feel it in my code!" Vanellope snapped back, which only made King Candy laugh. "Whatever, kid." He spat. "Remember what I said would happen if you kept misbehaving? Take her to the fungeon, boys." King Candy demanded. 'Fungeon' was his new, 'more fun' word for the castle dungeons which were now built. However there was nothing fun about them. Due to the land of Sugar Rush being so overly pretty and sweet, Turbo had decided to make the dungeons the exact opposite. Dark, filthy cellars sat behind the curtain in the throne room. Rows of cells went on and on but were never used. No one in Sugar Rush ever misbehaved as much as Vanellope. They were practically built to scare her and only her.

"Oh no you don't!" Cried Vanellope as she glitched out of Wynchell and Duncan's grasp and ran for her life. "Stop that glitch!" Cried King Candy, and a chase broke out, which ultimately ended up with Vanellope once again disappearing into Diet Cola Mountain. "Alright Vanellope." The King shouted into the open, hoping Vanellope could hear. Wherever she was. "This means war! Show your face near my racetrack again and I'll have you locked up for life!" As he drove away, Vanellope shivered in fear at his words, letting a small tear drip down her cheek as she sank to her knees. "I just wann race like evrybody else..." She whispered to herself. "I know I'm a racer..."

Years later, when Ralph had came and destroyed Vanellope's kart for her own safety, King Candy was fully prepared. He had had his top scientists in the castle develop a unique style of metal that Vanellope wouldn't be able to glitch through, meaning no escape for the little guttersnipe.

The girl had retreated to her sponge-cake bed after her heart had broken in two, and the king and police team quietly entered the base of the mountain. "So this is how she evaded me…" He thought. He followed the corridors and eventually found Vanellope face-down on the bed and sobbing her tiny lungs out. The king quietly crept up behind her.

"Hello, Vanellope." Vanellope turned around and screamed, glicthing in shock. Forgetting her emotional burden, Vanellope went into survival mode, navigating the best way to get away from the force that intended to shut her away for the rest of her life. Leaping off the spongecake bed, she ran as fast as her little legs could carry her up the side of the mountain, past the stalagmites and up to the unfinished bridge mad out of cake, the police team following in hot pursuit.

"You can't run from this forever, Vanellope!" King Candy growled. Eventually, the candy-haired girl had nowhere to left to run as she came to the end of the cake bridge, looking straight down into a lake of boiling cola. Her heart racing, she looked behind her and saw Wynchell and Duncan advancing. Feeling a piece of bridge crumble off and fall into the cola below her boot, Vanellope finally stopped running. Her tiny form shaking, she held up her hands in surrender. Wynchell grabbed her wrists and sealed them in a pair of "glitch-proof" handcuffs as tears began to fall from the little girl's eyes.

Under arrest, Duncan, one of the donut cops, clasped a huge metal belt around Vanellope's waist. "Sire?" Wynchell gestured to King Candy, realising how harsh this was. The king only shook his head. "A lesson needs to be learned here, boys." He walked up to Vanellope who had sank to her knees. "Now now, my dear." The King taunted. "I've given you too many chances. Aren't you tired of running?" He asked with false sympathy, manipulating her. "Don't you want to do the honourable thing and give yourself up for the greater good?" He asked. Vanellope thought about it. She knew he was mocking her. But something about his words felt... right. It was true, no one wanted her here. She served no purpose. Maybe it would be for the best if she went away, where she wouldn't be hurt again. She was tired of running. She did want to stop. She just wanted it all to be over. Using every drop of strength she had left, Vanellope sniffed and nodded. King Candy bowed his head in response. "Good girl." He said. Vanellope shivered. She hated it when he called her that.

Gently, she was led down the bridge and out of diet cola mountain where she was loaded into the S.W.A.T van. At the castle, Wynchell and Duncan led her through her former home, behind the curtain and to the cell specifically designed for her. In her overly large cell, Vanellope was strung up in piles of chains. These chains wrapped around her shoulders and arms, her ankles and waist, until she resembled a marionette conjoined to strings. She hung her head in defeat as she accepted that her dreams of racing would never come true. As the huge door locked shut behind her, Vanellope allowed herself to cry, but stopped as she heard someone enter 10 minutes later.

The visitor was King Candy, the last person she wanted to see. "Now now, my dear, we mustn't get upset." He began in a sweet tone, but Vanellope knew he was mocking her. "I mean, if it weren't for the fact that you can't leave this game, I would have had you exiled a long time ago." At this, his mood shifted drastically, and he grabbed the neck of her hoodie, causing Vanellope to gasp and struggle to shed herself of his grip. "But I suppose an eternity in chains isn't a bad alternative." He growled in her face. "I've finally got you where you belong. Out of sight, out of mind, after a while everyone will forget about you. Even Ralph forgot about you." At the mention of his name, Vanellope finally snapped. She had had enough of giving in to people. She was gonna fight back even if it killed her.

"You don't know anything about me, or Ralph!" She screamed in his face, and King Candy was taken aback. "He may have broke my kart but I know you told him too. He may be a stinkbrain but he's the only person who showed me any kindness in over fifteen years! He helped me build a kart and taught me how to drive. You don't know anything about him, and you most certainly don't know anything about ME!" She cried, trembling as tears ran out of her eyes. The king only stepped backwards, and went to close the door behind him, but not before adding "God you're useless." And with that, a little girl was left behind, chained to a cold dark dungeon for what seemed to be for eternity.

"You really are a bad guy." Vanellope croaked through tears. But she wasn't think of the police guards, or Taffyta, or even king candy. She was thinking of Ralph.
