Pokémon Crimson Gold
Chapter 4: Incident at New Bark Town
Ethan and Chikorita finally made it back to New Bark Town after managing to defeat Silver in his first ever victory against another trainer.
Upon entering, the two instantly took notice a police vehicle parked right in front of the Pokémon Lab.
"Uh-oh, that can't be good," Ethan sighed.
"Chika Chika!" Chikorita responded in a worrisome tone.
Ethan entered the lab seeing a police officers that were speaking with Professor Elm they turned and gave Ethan a suspicious look.
"Who are you? We're investigating the case of the missing Pokémon here..." the Police said, he was tall and intimidating looking.
"I'm Ethan, I've been a resident of New Bark Town all my life!" Ethan explained.
"He's not the culprit, sir." Professor Elm said. "I've known that boy since he was in grade school, I taught him many things, and I know he would never steal a Pokémon from me!"
"Woah, hold on. Someone stole a Pokémon from you, Professor?" Ethan said, puzzled.
"Yeah, and now we're looking for the culprit, you know anyone suspicious, kid." The police asked.
"Chika Chika!" Chikorita said, clinging to Ethan's leg, trying to say something to him.
Ethan took a minute to think, he thought he might have an idea of who it could have been.
"Professor, which Pokémon was stolen from you?" Ethan asked.
"Cyndaquil was." The Professor answered.
"I saw a kid who was peaking outside the window at the lab, and just now we did battle, he had a Cyndaquil. It had to have been him.
"Could you give me a description of this kid?" The police asked, taking out a note and paper.
"Of course, he has long red hair, wears all black, and let's see, I saw his trainer card. He goes by the name Silver, not sure if that's an alias or not, and he's fourteen apparently. That's all I got." Ethan declared.
"Thanks, for the help kid," The police officer said, reading a Pokéball, he threw it, unleashing a Yanma.
"Yanma!" Yanma cried.
"Woah, a Yanma." Ethan said, scanning it with his Pokédex.
"Yanma, the clear wing Pokémon. If it flaps its wings really fast, it can generate shock waves that will shatter windows in the area."
"Yanma, you heard the boy, go and search the skies for a kid with that description, come straight back to me if you find anyone like that."
"Yan Yanma!" It said as it flew off into the distance.
"I'll be on my way, Professor, we'll update you as soon as we can." The policeman said to Elm.
"Thank you, much appreciated." Elm said, as the police left threw the front door.
Ethan kneeled and pet Chikorita. "Wow, and I made you battle Cyndaquil, I'm sorry, if only I had known better."
"Chika Chika!" She said, trying to reassure her trainer.
"This has never happened to me before; I really hope they find the kid." Elm said.
"They will, and if they don't I will." Ethan said, pulling out something from his backpack.
"Tada!" Ethan said, revealing the egg from his backpack, Mr. Pokémon had handed him.
"Excellent Ethan, I almost forgot amid everything." Elm said, taking the egg off Ethan's hands.
"It was no big deal, anyways I have to hurry up and get that first gym badge, so thanks again for the Pokémon, bye now." Ethan said, exiting the room.
As Ethan walked to his house, he passed by the many school kids that had graduated a whole year before him.
"Ethan finally got a Pokémon."
"He should stay away from battling and give up, once a failure, always a failure."
"Ethan actually graduated; man isn't that funny."
Ethan paid them no mind. He was a laughingstock among his classmates for failing his first trainer school graduation, but he didn't let it get to him. After all, an extra year in class made him know much more about battling, it did hurt still though.
Ethan made it to his house, Chikorita side by side to him, she was growling at all the kids that were laughing at him, but Ethan told her it was okay.
"Mom, I'm home!" Ethan announced.
Ethan's mom was staring at a photo album, she looked up to her son. "Oh, so you did it, you finally got your first Pokémon." She said, gleefully. She took one good long stare at Ethan's Chikorita.
"Wow, that Pokémon really suits you honey!" Mom said, happily. "You always said you'd choose Chikorita!"
"Chika Chika," Chikorita laughed as mother grabbed her and started swinging her in the air playfully.
"Ah, you remind me just of your father, we were around your age when we first met." Mom said, giving Chikorita back to Ethan. "Did I ever tell you how me and your dad met?"
"Like a million times, mom." Ethan said, laughing it off.
"You know, going on a training journey can bring more than just badges, it can also bring love." Mother said, reminiscing. "Like with me and your dad, and you and that Lyra."
"No way mom, that girl hates me, plus I can't stand her either." Ethan said, crossing his arms.
"It's a shame what happened to you two, you both were such good friends back in the day, me and her mom made jokes you would both get married someday." Mom said, in a saddened tone.
"Well, that's not my fault is it now, she ended it." Ethan said. "A-anyways, I got to go now, for real this time. I have to go stack up some badges if I'm going to want to get strong enough to challenge dad and the Pokémon league." Ethan said, and mother went in to hug him.
"Alright Ethan, but do you remember the most important part of being a trainer?" She asked her son.
"As always, I remember mom," Ethan said.
"The most important part is to always remember to have fun." They both said in unison.
"See you, mom, and tell dad I'm coming for him." Ethan said, with a determined look on his face.
