It didn't take long after Kousagi had ran off for her to run out of breath. She had made it to a playground and decided to hide out in the makeshift fort. She had seen Usagi and Diana run by earlier and hid deeper inside. Once they passed she let out her breath and began to cry again. Candy hopped down from her head and rubbed up against her.
"It's going to be okay Ko." Candy looked up at her with optimistic eyes. She rubbed her head against Kousagi's cheek, purring as she did so.
"Thank you Candy." Kousagi smiled and started calming down. "I'm sorry I got us into such a mess. I just don't understand why Usagi hates me." Though she had stopped crying now her eyes still burned like they could spill over with more tears any moment.
Candy frowned at this. "She doesn't hate you. She's just struggling to adjust to how much her life has changed." Candy didn't know everything, but she had heard a decent amount from listening to her adoptive family and some of the other senshi when they got together. She wasn't sure what else she could say to help her feel better.
Kousagi wiped her eyes before more tears had a chance to fall. "I need to get out of here. It would be weird if someone found me hiding in here." After making sure the coast was clear she climbed down with Candy. It wasn't until they were out in the open she had noticed things were off. "Candy, where are we?" She blinked a few times at her surroundings. Crystal Tokyo was very different all of a sudden.
"Chibiusa? Is that you?" A soft voice called out from behind Kousagi.
Chibiusa ran up and down the streets completely exhausted. It had already begun to rain and it would be thundering real soon. "Why did this have to happen." She kept calling out for Kousagi with no response. "This isn't how things were supposed to go!" Chibiusa stopped running. Tears stung her eyes. She wanted to give up and just curl into a ball, but her phone started to ring and snapped her out of her thoughts. "Hello?"
"Kousagi is with me." The voice came out calmly. "Why don't you meet me at the coffee shop near the park?"
Chibiusa froze. She failed to find her sister and now it looked like she was about to get into even more trouble because of her. Biting her lip she agreed to go to the coffee shop and hung up. She ran as fast as she could until she was finally back at the park. She looked around and spotted the place where she was supposed to meet up with them. Chibiusa sprinted into the shop, temporarily relieved to be out of the rain.
"Usagi!" Kousagi ran over and went to hug her sister, but stopped herself after remembering the trouble she had just caused her. "I'm sorry." She held Candy close as she waited to get scolded again.
"Chibiusa, you made it." The voice came from none other than Ami. "I was starting to worry about you for a moment there. Come sit down, I ordered a hot chocolate for you." She pointed to a table in the corner of the room. She motioned to Kousagi to go take a seat again and she did.
Following Ami and her sister she sat down at the table, clasping her cold hands around her drink. She couldn't bring herself to look Ami in the eyes. "So are you going to ask me for an explanation?" She focused her attention on the melting whipped cream and didn't notice that the door to the shop had opened again.
Ami smiled and shook her head. "No, I'm not going to ask you to explain anything to me. I think I get what's going on. You might want to explain to them though." She pointed at Usagi and Mamoru who had just came in with Luna and Diana. She waved them over and excused herself to the counter while the couple sat down.
"Mama! Papa!" Chibiusa looked up at them feeling sick to her stomach. She loved seeing them, but somehow she was now nervous and felt guilty before them. When she met their eyes she felt even worse as she saw the worry written all over them. "I'm so sorry!"
Kousagi listened to her sister apologize a few times, confused as to why she was calling them Mama and Papa. When she made eye contact with them she would immediately blush and look down at Candy who sat in her lap.
Usagi reached a hand out to Chibiusa. "Are you okay? Is everything okay back home? What's going on?" She had so many questions and while worried for her daughter, she still couldn't help, but notice what looked like a second Chibiusa.
Mamoru put an arm on her shoulder and calmed her for a moment. "Maybe we should talk about this elsewhere?" He waved politely at some of the on lookers.
Chibiusa nodded apologetically. "R-right." As they got up she took Kousagi by the hand. She took a moment to briefly lean down and whisper into her ear. "Be quiet and just follow me now, okay?"
Kousagi didn't protest and simply let her take her hand and lead her. Now and then she would glance around feeling the stares from all around her. She couldn't help, but feel insecure and like she was in major trouble. A small smile from Ami now and then would put her a little more at ease.
A short walk away and they made it to Mamoru's apartment. The walk was done in silence and once they had gotten settled in Ami excused herself to call the girls. Mamoru had ushered them into the living room, after giving them towels to dry off he offered the two pinkettes the couch and got Usagi a chair.
An uncomfortable silence fell upon them before Mamoru spoke up. "Chibiusa, Pumpkin, not that we aren't glad to see you, but what's going on?" He stood behind Usagi, hands on her shoulders, massaging them anxiously.
Biting her lip she looked at Kousagi who was very nervous and confused. "Well... Originally I was going to surprise you guys the day before your wedding, but..." She looked at her sister. "I had a bit of a mishap coming through the gate." She didn't want to say too much.
Usagi was trying to piece everything together. "A mishap?" She looked at the smaller pinkette. "Chibiusa, who is she? She looks just like you." She was suspicious to say the least, but didn't want to assume.
With a heavy sigh of defeat she caved in. "This is... Kousagi. My little sister." She looked at them unsure of how they would react. They were shocked and had many questions.
Kousagi blushed with embarrassment as they stared at her. "Um, hello." She found herself suddenly sheepish.
Usagi had a swirl of emotions. "Your sister?" She watched as Chibiusa slowly nodded. She looked to Mamoru. "We have another daughter." It came out calmer than she expected. Placing a hand on her stomach momentarily she looked back to Kousagi. "I... It's nice to meet you." She smiled at her warmly.
Mamoru watched as Chibiusa grew more uncomfortable. "So what happened? Why are you two here?"
"It's my fault." Kousagi piped up finally. "She just wanted to see you, but I wouldn't let her go." She had tears in her eyes. "I just wanted to spend some time with her, but we ended up fighting so I took her key."
Chibiusa sighed. "Yeah, it was an accident. I'm really sorry Mama and Papa." She bowed her head apologetically.
Mamoru relaxed. "It's fine. You two are okay and everything is fine back home right?" He waited for them both to nod. "Then everything is okay."
Usagi smiled up at Mamoru, he always had a way of diffusing situations. "Right, now that that's done with! You're still in time for the wedding if you want to stay the week?"
Chibiusa took a moment to recoil. She had almost forgotten what they were like. In the future they are busy ruling Crystal Tokyo, here they are just her parents. With a smile she eagerly agreed. "Of course! Oh! Kousagi..." She looked down at her sister. "You should probably go home..."
Kousagi wanted to protest, but she was also uncomfortable with the thought of staying in a strange place. "I-I guess."
Mamoru picked up on her reluctance. "Kousagi, if you want to stay you can. I promise you, your Mama and Papa wont be upset in the future." He smiled and pat her head gently.
Before anything else could be said Ami came back into the room. "Sorry to interrupt everyone. Usagi, I'm going to head back to Rei's." She gave her a knowing glance. "Let me know if you guys need anything." She turned to their guests from the future. "Chibiusa, it was nice seeing you again." She smiled brightly at her. "Kousagi, it was nice meeting you and I hope to see you again soon." With that she left.
"Mama is something going on?" Chibiusa was used to this behavior by now.
Usagi laughed a little brushing it off. "Everything is fine Honey! Look at you worrying about me! So cute!" She proceeded to laugh and ignore the concern. "Oh! I should call my dad and let him know I won't be heading home tonight." She looked to Mamoru anxiously.
"Oh... actually, girls would you be okay sleeping over your, er, grandma's?" Mamoru was a little anxious as well.
"Mama, Papa, are you sure everything is okay?" Chibiusa was getting very weirded out at this point. Her parents could get weird, but this was setting something off for her.
After much persuasion they agreed to head back with Usagi. Before leaving Chibiusa spoke with Diana.
"Thank you Diana, for not telling on me." Chibiusa knelt down and frowned.
Diana huffed and after giving her a little bit of the cold shoulder looked back up at her. "You're welcome."
"I'm really sorry Dia." She didn't know what else to say.
Diana sighed. "I know. Listen, at the risk of sounding like my mother, please let this be a lesson Usagi. We're lucky Ami found her. I was still on my way to get them when they came running my way. She found them first and called them immediately."
Nodding along she put her head down. "You're right. I was so stupid." She clenched her teeth. "I didn't mean to put them in danger. It wont happen again."
Seeing her sincerity Diana nuzzled up to her. "Okay, okay. Enough of this, you know I can't stand to see you like this." She purred as she rubbed her head on her cheek. "Friends?"
Chibiusa smiled and stood up. "Friends."
The walk back to Usagi's wasn't as quiet as the one to Mamoru's. She had tons of questions and Kousagi had tons of answers that Chibiusa had to keep covering her mouth about. For a moment, Chibiusa was at ease. It was just like the old days when she would come to visit them. That daydream was suddenly stopped as they neared the house, a limo parked out front, drawing too much attention.
"Mama, who are they?" Chibiusa whispered, a hand still covering Kousagi's mouth.
Usagi stared for a moment. "I'm not sure."
And that's where this will end for the moment while I revise and re-write was going to be the original chapter four! (sorry for the long hiatus! you might want to start over if you're reading from here! I've been tweaking and changing the chapters up a bit! sorry!)
