Chapter 4
Kim hadn't seen her best friend since walking out that night. She was so upset with her. She went to Nick's apartment and had been there ever since. Nick looked at her lying naked beside him. "I'm loving the sex. I can tell you're mad, your body is releasing frustration every single time we sleep together. We aren't even having sex baby, we are screwing every time."
Kim rolled her eyes, "Are you complaining?" She pushed off of him and got up, throwing on a big T-shirt. Nick sighed, "Hey, it's me. Don't get mad at me. Come here, I'm sorry." Kim cried on his shoulder. "I walked out on her and I know she needs me. Life isn't fair and it hasn't been fair to her at all. I just don't want anything bad to happen to her. Nick I feel like I'm watching her destroy her life."
Nick ran his hands under Kim's shirt. "What about that cop, that's her friend? Can she help? Threaten her even." Kim thought and kissed him first, then peeled off her shirt. She pushed him on the bed and climbed on top of him. She slid slowly down on his length, "You are a genius and now I'm going to ride you all night long."
Kim knew she needed help and knew who she needed to see. If Amanda could be sneaky, so could she. Kim decided to go back to the dorm, so hopefully it wouldn't be obvious. Amanda was dead tired when she put her key in the door. More than usual, because not only was she working late, but her best wasn't with her anymore. Kim saw the door open, "Did you even miss me?" Amanda looked and didn't even wait. She tackled Kim on the bed. "Kim, I'm sorry. I stopped taking bets. I heard you. Please don't ever leave me again." Kim narrowed her eyes at her, "Yeah, but you're still working at the bar." Amanda rolled her eyes, "One thing at a time ok. I still need a job." Kim and Amanda talked until they fell asleep.
The next morning Kim was up early, she kissed Amanda on the forehead and Amanda just rolled over. Kim left a note, "Had to run and errand before class. See you tonight. Love you and be careful." Kim needed help. Amanda had always been stubborn. She found herself at Detective Benson's precinct. She took the elevator and saw police everywhere. "Ma'am do you need help?" Kim was nervous, "I'm looking for Detective Benson." He was an older man, "Sergeant Benson." Kim shook her head, "Come on. Follow me."
Kim walked behind him and he sat her down next to a desk. "I'm Sergeant Munch. Let me find her for you." Kim looked around, thinking how was she supposed to talk to her in the open like this. Maybe this is why Amanda didn't want her help. Munch walked in Cragen's office, "Liv, you have a visitor. Young girl, I put her at your desk." Olivia looked out and thought she recognized her. "Thanks Munch."
Olivia moved closer, "Hi! I'm Sergeant Benson." Olivia shook her hand, "I'm sorry, but I know you right?" Kim shook her head, "Kind of. It's been like 5 months. I'm Amanda's friend. Amanda Rollins, we met briefly outside of our high school. My name is Kim Greylek." Olivia smiled, "Oh yeah! You're the friend that picked up my card. I guess you kept it, not her." Kim smiled, but Olivia saw nothing but worry. "What can I do for you."
Kim looked around, "Would you like to talk in private?" Kim felt at ease, "Yes please. I need to know that what I tell you doesn't get her in trouble." Olivia didn't know what she was going to say and wanted to protect both of them. "I tell you what, how about you meet me at my place around 4?" Olivia wrote down her address. "I'll meet you in the lobby. Give me your number in case I'm running late." Kim went to class and Olivia went about her day. She worried about Amanda. So many times, she wanted to check on her. It was scary how much Olivia thought about the 18 year old.
Kim walked into the lobby of Olivia's apartment and sat down. "Hey! Sorry I actually came home earlier than expected. Come on up with me." Kim followed her, but was so nervous. They didn't say a word until they walked into the apartment. "Can I get you a soda or something? Here grab a plate, I ordered a pizza." Kim smiled, "Sure, anything is fine."
Olivia handed her a Pepsi. They sat at the table. "So, what's going on?" Kim took a deep breath, "Amanda is my best friend and she doesn't know I'm here and she can't know." Olivia sat back, "You offered once to help her, but Amanda isn't the type to take help. She thinks she can do it all alone."
Kim looked up, "We've talked about you." Olivia flashed a smile. "She doesn't think you can help her and I honestly don't know what you can do. Amanda is stubborn and never really had parental guidance. I'm worried about her. I need her to make better choices and be ok." Kim started explaining everything. The gambling, how and why it got started. She told her about the asshole professor, the fake ID, working in the bar, placing side bets. She told Olivia about their argument after the money. "She swears she isn't doing it anymore, but I don't know. She's still at the bar."
Olivia was upset, Amanda's problems were big and she had offered to help. "Who's the professor, what's his name?" Kim thought, "Dr. Stone." It bothered Olivia to hear the first time Amanda was ready to do the right thing, she was turned away. "Kim, I'm a SVU detective. I take care of bad people like Dr. Stone. It's disappointing to hear that she was wanting to do it the right way and he took that from her."
Kim felt bad hearing her explain it that way. "Sergeant Benson, I'm a bad friend. I blamed her and never thought about it like that." Olivia smiled, "One, call me Olivia or Liv. Two, you're not a bad friend at all." Olivia promised to help Amanda. "Give me the name of the bar and I will plan a date there tonight."
Olivia called Fin, "Will you be my date tonight. I need to help a friend." Fin didn't know what was up, but he was always down to help. "I got you Liv." She looked at Kim, "I will keep you out of it." Kim went to leave, "She doesn't trust people Olivia. This isn't going to be easy and she's going to fight you every step. If you can't handle it, don't start it." Olivia smiled, "I'm a cop and a tough one. I've got it! Are you going to be ok?" Kim smiled, "Yeah! Thank you." Kim hugged her and left.
Fin texted that he was outside and ready. Olivia climbed in wearing tight blue jeans, black boots, and a black leather jacket. "You look good! Want to tell me what this is about?" Olivia smiled, "Sure, remember Amanda Rollins?" Fin rolled his eyes. Olivia explained what she knew. "Go ahead Fin, let me have it." Fin sighed, "Where is this going Liv? I mean you like her, enough to try and help. She's young as hell." Olivia didn't know the answer. "I don't know where this is going. I'm drawn to her and for right now I want to help her. I'm not dumb Fin. I know it's far fetched ok."
They walked into the bar and Olivia immediately saw Amanda making drinks. Her and Fin sat in a booth watching her. "Well she's a charmer, with tips no wonder she wants the job." Olivia laughed, "Well she's using a fake ID, which is illegal. You know this is dangerous." Fin shrugged, "Liv, what's your plan to call her out, make her quit, or get her fired? Yeah this isn't right or good, but if you don't have a plan, you're going to push her into something deeper." Olivia had a plan, but she didn't know if Amanda would follow her.
The waitress took their order. "Ok. I'll have that out soon as I can. We aren't busy tonight. Can I get you anything else?" Olivia smiled, "Yeah actually, when your bartender gets a break, tell her I'd like to chat with her." She looked, "Oh Amanda. Sure thing. I'll have Michael break her now." Olivia watched for the reaction. Fin covered his eyes. The waitress whispered in Amanda's ear and pointed. Olivia gave a nice wave and she saw Amanda's mouth move, "Oh shit!" Olivia laughed, "Fin this should be good."
