The Journey of A Monkey and A Boa(With A Few Others) Ch 3
Our heroes were traveling in the East Blue with their new crew mate, Ness, the Sea King Luffy named. Despite being afraid of them earlier(mostly Hancock), the Sea King Ness was actually docile. Not only that, but Ness was a huge help getting them to their first destination. It made Luffy wondered why he didn't recruit him the first time. Probably because it was the same Sea King that ate Shanks left arm.
"So Luffy, where are we going?" Hancock asked her future Pirate King.
Luffy just smiled. "Shells Town if I remember, was the town where I recruited my first mate, Roronoa Zoro."
Luffy looked up in the sky and smiled as he remembered his Swordman.
'...I'LL NEVER LOSE AGAIN!'
He then frowned when he remembered what Akainu did to Zoro and his precious swords.
'That's right...I was given a second chance to save my nakama from the magma bastard...Not only him, but Blackbeard too...This time I'll be ready for both of them!'
Boa noticed her lover wasn't smiling anymore. "Luffy? Something wrong?"
Luffy frown changed into his signature smile. "It's nothing!"
Hancock didn't buy it but decided to drop the matter.
"So Luffy, how long do we have until we reach Shells Town?"
"Hmm...Judging by the speed where heading, it'll probably be four days instead of a week." Luffy deduced.
"What do you mean by that?"
Luffy scratched his head. "You see...The first time I sailed, I kind off...Got sucked into a whirlpool and got trapped in a barrel...The only reason I survived was because the barrel was taken by pirates."
Boa looked shocked, but then had a face of seriousness. "Luffy...You do realize that your adventure could've ended quickly if you drowned right?"
Once again Luffy scratched his head, this time in embarrassment as he knew she had a point. Looking back then, Luffy realized he was very unprepared for his journey as he just sailed with a dingy.
"Yeah...I never knew how foolish I was in the beginning. I should've trained in haki and the Rokushiki much sooner." He then grimaced. "Marineford was definitely a wake up call for me...If I wasn't so naive and weak..." He clenched his hands so much they drew a little blood. "I could've saved Ace...I could've saved my nakama!"
He then felt arms wrap around his neck. Luffy turned to Hancock who looked concerned. "Luffy..I've told you before, what at Marineford wasn't your fault. Your nakama's deaths weren't your fault either. You know who's to blame right?"
Luffy nods.
"Then you know why we are here. To prevent that Akainu from killing our loved ones. And to help you become the Pirate King. That's a promise." She smiled.
During the past 3 years, Luffy and Boa Hancock grew even more closer to the point where they share baths with each other(Much to Boa's enjoyment). Luffy couldn't believe how he and her never became a couple. Mostly because Luffy focused on adventure, meat, and his nakama above all things. But after dying and spending 3 years with the most gorgeous woman around, it caused him to notice women, it also helped that Makino taught him about the Birds and the Bees...He couldn't help but blush at Hancock for an entire month.
"Thank you Hancock, and I'd like to apologize to you again for not understanding your feelings earlier."
"HAHAHA! Water under the bridge! Besides, you know I'm the ONLY one for right?" She smiled. Unaware that's going to change in the future.
Meanwhile...
"Why is there so much dust?"
A woman felt some dust on some part of her ship.
"A THOUSAND PARDONS ALVIDA-SAMA!... I-I thought I've already cleaned the whole deck!...I...I'll clean it again, so...Please don't..." One of the pirates begged.
"Don't do what?" The woman turned to him with a dark look as she held a heavy, spiked iron mace.
"Please don't hit me with your bludgeon! I don't want to die!" His pleas were unanswered as he was hit face first by the iron mace. You can hear something crack as his skull was smashed in, blood flowing. The poor pirate fell to the deck, dead.
"Coby! What's the most beautiful thing of all the seas?" She turned to her cabin boy who had pink hair and wore glasses.
'A woman who isn't a fucking whale?' "That'll be you Alvida-sama!" He smiled, although it was forced.
"That's right! And that's why I absolutely hate dirty things! So I don't want the slightest bit of dirt on my ship! Do you hear me?! I only let you live this long because you know more about navigation than all the useless men on my ship!"
Coby was on the floor, still pretending to be happy. "Y-Yes ma'am. Thank you very much."
She then landed her shoe on his head. "But other than that you're completely useless! Now clean my shoes!" She ordered.
"R-right away ma'am!" Coby said as he began to clean the woman's shoes. She was a tall and very obese woman that could've been mistaken for a man with long wavy black hair, and freckles on her cheeks.
She wore a white cowgirl hat with a large red plume, a red neckerchief, a pink plaid shirt, and a blue captain's coat over it with the arms in the sleeves unlike many other pirates. She wore rings on her fingers and her long sharp fingernails had red polish. She had a purple sash with a flintlock pistol tucked in it and some jewels. She also wore graying pants and red shoes with gold buckles It was no one other than "Iron Mace" Alvida with a 5,000,000 belly bounty.
She then booted the poor boy in the face, causing him a nosebleed.
"That's enough for now! You piece of shit!"
'The only piece of shit is you!' "Okay Alvida-sama!" Coby expressed with fake happiness.
"Alvida-sama! We spotted a cruise ship!" One of her men said.
"Really? Give me that!" She snatched the binoculars and used them.
"Your right, I do see a cruise ship, and it's a big one to boot."
She then grinned as she stopped using them.
"Men! You know what to do! Pilfer that cruise ship, and you better not miss a single treasure their otherwise you'll end up like him!" She used her iron mace to point to the corpse.
"Am I clear?!"
"YES ALVIDA-SAMA!" They replied in fear.
"P-Pirates!"
One of the sailors said as he saw Alvida's ship
"SHIT you're right! We need to evacuate the people here while we call the Marines, they'll know what to do!"
Alvida's ship started firing cannonballs. Luckily, some missed the ship, but they knew the situation was dire enough.
In the main room where the rich were enjoying themselves.
"Attention everyone! Pirates have come to attack this vessel! I'm going to need you all to safely exit this ship!"
And this caused most of the people to panic as they ran in fear. Except for a familiar orange haired girl who was disguised.
'Pirates are attacking? Those monsters!...Although, this given me the chance to steal from these people. And they are rich, so I guess this is a win win!' Thought the thief as she ran to steal all the belly she could find.
While that was going on, Alvida's men landed on the cruise ship and began to ransack and kill anyone that got in their way. Alvida and Coby were with each other. "Coby! What's the most beautiful thing of all the seas?"
'An Sea King has more beauty than you!' "You of course Alvida-Sama!"
"Good! Now go make yourself useful and help steal from this ship!"
"B-But Alvida-Sama, I've never plundered a ship before!"
She then kicked him in the ass and was launched into the kitchen. "Then figure it out dumbass! I don't have all day!"
"...On my way..." He said sadly.
Later Coby and the pirates found a barrel with some sake.
"Is that a barrel of sake?!" One of the pirates asked.
"Great! Let's all drink together!"
"But if the captain finds out, we'll be..."
"She won't find out!"
"We're the only ones raiding this kitchen, so only us and stupid Coby will know about this."
"You're right."
One of the pirates looked at Coby, which made the boy sweat. "You know what to do, right Coby?"
The boy would normally be obedient and just let the pirates and Alvida, walk over him, but this time he wouldn't have it. "No!"
"...Coby..." He growled.
"I mean it! Why do I have to be the one who puts up with all this crap! It's bad enough that Alvida treats me like a slave, but you guys too?! For crying out loud, I shouldn't be doing this anymore! I should be out there, living my dreams as a marine!"
The pink haired boy was then slugged in the face, causing him to fall down to the ground. He looked up at his aggressors as they looked like they were going to beat the crap out of him.
"You think you can talk big just because you have dreams?! Well let me tell you something Coby! Your dreams died the moment you joined Alvida! And we both know that fucking whale is never going to let you go! So how about you face reality and realize your dreams are never going to come true!"
Those words manage to hurt the boy more than Alvida's physical abuse. For two years, he've been stuck upon the ship, with false hope that he'll escape from Alvida and become a fine Marine.
'Maybe they're right...Maybe I'll never become a Marine...' The boy spilled tears from his eyes.
"I think it's time for us to teach you a lesson Coby!" The pirate reared his fist and was about to hit him when...
"You don't know have any idea what you're talking about."
His fist was grabbed by a firm hand.
"Who the hell do you think you..." He turned to the monkey looking stranger only to stop when he saw the angry expression on his face.
He then saw then turned to a beautiful woman who was also glaring at him while her arms were crossed.
"Scum like you don't have the balls to talk about giving up dreams!" Luffy then crushed his hand.
"AGH!"
The pirate clutched his injured hand.
"GET HIM!"
The pirates ran to him, which was a huge mistake.
"Tsk...Go to sleep." Luffy then unleashed his Haki, causing the pirates to become unconscious while they had foam in their mouths.
Coby just stood there, as he was impressed at what Luffy did.
"How...How did you do that?"' Asked Coby.
"Luffy turned to the boy and smiled. 'It's nice to see you again Coby.'
"My name is Luffy, and what happened was that I used Haki to knock them unconscious."
"What's Haki?"
"That's not important. But tell me about yourself."
"Right...My name is Coby and I'm a Alvida's Cabin boy." Luffy nods as he remembered what Alvida has done to him.
"Let me ask you this Coby, do have any dreams?"
This surprised the boy, but he looked down while he smiled sadly. "Yeah...But I don't want it anymore. I was going to use a boat I built in the past two years in order to run away from Alvida...But I don't have the guts to do it...Looks like I'm gonna be a Cabin boy my whole life..."
"You should leave." Luffy said casually.
"NO! I CAN'T! IT'LL NEVER WORK! WHENEVER I THINK OF ALVIDA-SAMA FINDING OUT, MY LEGS TURN ALL MUSHY! I GET SO SCARED!"
Hancock was watching Coby making a fool of himself. 'This is the Marine Luffy-Kun was talking about?'
"That day...I was only fishing. But I accidentally walked onto this ship! And I had to become a a caretaker on the ship these two years to stay alive!"
This time it was Hancock's turn to talk. "Wow...That means you're pretty stupid and useless. And you seem kinda wimpy too...I know a few people your age that can beat you in five seconds."
Coby felt like those words stabbed him as he felt like a loser.
Luffy, even though he didn't like it, knew she was right. But he also knew Coby would grow stronger over time.
"But...You're right...If only I'm brave enough...Hey Luffy-San, your a pirate right?"
Luffy nods.
"Why are you sailing?"
Luffy did his signature grin. "I WANT TO BECOME THE PIRATE KING!" Hancock smiled as well.
Coby was flabbergasted. "EH!...WH-WHAT! PIRATE KING WAS THE TITLE OF SOMEONE WHO HAD EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD! ARE YOU TELLING ME YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE WORLD'S GREATEST TREASURE!?...THE ONE PIECE?!"
"Yes."
"YOU WANNA DIE OR SOMETHING?! ALL THE PIRATES IN THE WORLD ARE LOOKING FOR THAT TREASURE!"
"So am I."
Coby then spouted out how that dream is impossible. Luffy didn't mind it, however his lover had different thoughts. She walked over to Coby and hit him in the head, while her fist was covered in steam.
"How dare you say that to my lover!? Monkey D. Luffy is the man who will become the Pirate King!"
'Monkey...Why does that name sound familiar?' Coby then turned to Luffy who had a serious expression on his face. "I'm not afraid of dying!"
"Huh?"
Luffy took off his hat. "Because it's my dream. And that's I won't mind dying for it. And if I do, that means I wasn't good enough."
Coby was stunned as he couldn't believe this man wasn't scared of the possibility of dying.
"Trust me Coby, if you aren't afraid of dying, then you can accomplish your dreams too."
Coby started tearing up, no one except Luffy has ever believed in his dreams before.
"I want to become a Marine..."
"Hm?"
"LUFFY-SAN! I KNOW IT MEANS THAT WE'LL BE ENEMIES! BUT JOINING THE MARINES AND CATCHING BAD GUYS..HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY DREAM!" He declared while he was still crying.
Luffy nods.
"DO YOU THINK I CAN DO IT?!"
"I can't answer that Coby, that's something you have to figure out yourself."
"YOUR RIGHT! I HAVE TO AT LEAST TRY! I'D RATHER DIE TRYING TO GET OUT OF HERE AND JOIN THE MARINES! THAN STAY HERE AND BE A CABIN BOY MY ENTIRE LIFE! AND THEN ALVIDA-SAMA...I'LL BE ABLE TO ARREST SOMEONE LIKE ALVIDA SAMA!
"WHO DID YOU SAY YOU ARE GOING TO ARREST COBY?!"
Luffy grabs Coby and him and Hancock run outside the kitchen, cause it was destroyed by an obese woman.
The three look at Alvida and her crew. Coby was shocked, Boa looked disgusted at Alvida's form, and Luffy...Well he looked the same.
"Do you think you can...Escape from me?!"
Alvida looks at Luffy. "Is that who you hired to capture me? He doesn't seem to be Roronoa Zoro...Although..."
Her cheeks turned pink. "He is a fine hunk...Hey you! How about I make you vice-captain of my ship? You can come to my room and do...Naughty things.."
Luffy knew of course she was referring to sex. 'What's sucks here is that later she's going to eat that Devil Fruit and she'll actually be sexy.'
Meanwhile Boa Hancock had a visible tick mark while one of her eyes were twitching. "He's already taken you disgusting fatass!"
Jaws dropped on the deck, including Coby's while Luffy laughed hard. They all knew what happened if you insulted Alvida.
A vein formed on Alvida's face. "COBY! WHO'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IN THIS SEA!?"
"HA! EVEN GLORISA IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOU, AND SHE'S AN OLD WOMAN!" Boa ranted.
Coby turned to Boa Hancock. "Please stop! Repeat after me! In all the seas, this lady is the most...The..."
Coby remembered what Luffy said about dreams. He also remembered all the abuse Alvida put him through for 2 years. "THE RUDEST DAMNED BITCH IN THE ENTIRE SEAS!" He roared out.
Silence was in the air as Alvida and her crew were in shock about what Coby just said.
"HAHAHAHAHAH!"
Both Luffy and Boa were laughing hard.
"COBY!" Alvida yelled out with all her hate as she readied her iron mace.
"I DON'T REGRET! I'VE ALREADY TOLD MYSLEF TO FIGHT FOR MY DREAMS!" Coby closed as he prepared for the pain he was about the experience.
Just as she was about to swing her heavy mace, it was stopped.
"WHAT?!"
Eyes were popping as they saw Boa Hancock stopping Alvida's heavy mace with just her hand. "You call this a heavy mace? I have weapons like this on my island that's heavier than this."
She turned to Coby. "Coby right? Now I see why my Luffy believes in you so much." Boa smiled.
For the first time in his life, Coby felt hope.
Boa then turned to Alvida with an angry face. "And as for you...STAY AWAY FROM MY LUFFY!" She yelled as she slammed her fist into Alvida's massive gut. The impact was so powerful, that it caused the heavy woman to fly out of her ship, she flew so high, that she became a twinkle in the sky.
Everyone was shocked about what happened and had the same thought. 'This woman is even scarier than Alvida.'
Luffy smiled as he liked what Hancock did to her. Although he was a little worried about Alvida. Last time he just left her on an island. He wondered where she would land.
Suddenly, they heard cannon shots firing.
They all turned and saw three Marine Ships in the view.
"SHIT! IT'S THE MARINES! WERE FUCKED!"
All of Alvida's crew panicked as they continue to fire at the cruise ship.
"I-I don't get it! There are people in here! Why are they firing?!"
"Because they know that they're pirates on this ship." Coby turned to Luffy and was shocked to see Luffy's face as he looked enraged.
"Tsk...Of course they would do this. The Marines probably thought to fire first and ask questions later." Boa deduced.
Luffy turned Coby. "Let's get out of here Coby! We have a ship we can use!"
Coby nods. The three ran to the boat Luffy and Boa parked.
"You first Coby!"
Coby jumped from the vessel to the smaller ship.
Boa jumped off, and Luffy was about to the same until when a cloaked woman holding a bag passed him.
Luffy gasped as he turned around.
"Could it be?.."
Luffy used his Observation Haki and recognized her.
"Nami..."
Luffy used Soru to grab her and he and Nami jumped off the vessel.
"WHAT THE HELL! WHY DID YOU TAKE ME?!"
Luffy ignored her.
"NESS! TIME TO GO!"
"Luffy-San, who's Ness? Is-A SEA KING?!"
Both Coby and the disguised girl had their eyes popping out from their heads as a Sea King rose from the water, and smiled at Luffy.
"Hey Ness! We need to leave!" Luffy points to the Marine Ships. The Sea King nods.
"Hold on everybody!"
Ness dragged the boat as he was swimming really fast.
"SLOW DOWN!" Yelled the thief.
"No can do!"
"Why the hell not! As you can see the-"
She was interrupted when the cruise ship was destroyed right in front of their eyes.
Both her and Coby looked upon the horror of the Marine's actions.
"No way...If I was still on that ship..." She trailed.
"That's why I had to drag you out there immediately. I didn't want someone like you to die." 'Again.'
"I'm sorry for yelling at you." She took off her disguise and revealed herself to be a beautiful young orange-haired woman.
Luffy smiled as he knew his suspicions were confirmed.
'Nami...'
'Luffy...PLEASE HELP ME!'
Luffy also couldn't help but noticed how pretty she looked. Seriously, how has he not noticed that before?
Hancock just watched as Luffy stared at her.
'She better not steal him away from me!'
"Let me introduce myself, I'm Nami! I'm a thief who steals from pirates! I can already tell you look strong!...Even though you look like a monkey. 'A well-ripped monkey.' How about we became partners!"
"Nope!"
"Aww...Are you sure? I can be..." She rubbed her breasts around his chest. "...Very convincing."
Luffy felt a dark aura surrounding this boat. He slowly turned to Hancock who was glaring daggers at Nami.
"S-Sorry, but I already said I'm not interested!"
Nami pouted but removed her breasts. "Fine! But can you tell me why you are out sailing in the sea?"
Luffy knew how she was going to react, but still said it anyway. "To be the Pirate King!"
Nami now looked angry at Luffy after his declaration. "A Pirate! Of course you are! Now a days, it's all about being a pirate! I hate them!"
"B-But Luffy-San saved your life! You would've died back on the cruise ship!" Coby said.
"For all I know, the only reason he could've saved me was because of all the treasure I have in this bag!" She pointed to the treasure she had on the boat.
"Let me guess, you think that all Pirates are evil right?" Luffy asked.
"Of course they are! They plunder, they steal, they take everything away from you without regret!" She spat out.
Luffy then chuckled a little.
"WHAT'S SO FUNNY?!" Nami yelled out with blank eyes and shark teeth.
Luffy then tilted his hat to cover his eyes. "What you said sounds ridiculous. Next thing you're going to tell is that all Marines are good."
Coby looked shocked to hear that. "What do you mean by that Luffy-San?"
Luffy eyes Coby. "I know you're not stupid Coby, those Marines had the nerve to endanger civilians on the ship while attacking Alvida's pirates. And you both saw the aftermath of that."
Both Nami and Coby were silent as they knew Luffy had a point there. "And Nami, not all pirates are evil."
"That's a lie!"
"It's the truth! Have you heard of Red-Hair Shanks?"
"I-I've heard of him! He was once on the same crew as Gold D. Roger!"
This got Nami's attention. "Don't tell me!..."
"Shishishishi. That's right Nami! I remember when Shanks and his crew visited my home village to rest after their adventures in the Grandline. Shanks and his crew were awesome too! He even saved my life at the cost of his left arm."
Nami gasped in shock.
"Shanks also inspired me to become a pirate, he even gave me his most important treasure, his straw hat which I'm now wearing."
It also made Luffy wonder, does Shanks in the future knows he's dead? Did he try to get revenge on Akainu? Those questions remained unanswered.
"Let me ask you this Luffy, why do you want to be the Pirate King? Fame? Money? Power?" Nami questioned.
Luffy takes off his hat. "To be free." He gave a simple answer.
'And to protect my family.'
Nami couldn't believe the answer Luffy given to her. 'Most pirates would want to be recognized for their powers, their bounties, and etc...But Luffy...He just wants to be free...'
Nami smiled sadly. 'Like me...I want to be from Arlong's control...But in order to do that, I'm going to need 100,000,000 berries...'
"Nami, since I've told you why I'm sailing, how about you tell me why you're sailing?" Asked Luffy, even though he knew already.
"Okay, I need 100,000,000 beri in order to buy a village. That's all I'm telling you!" Nami didn't want to reveal why. She has already gone through so much pain because of Arlong.
"Why don't you become my navigator and I'll help you gain your berries."
"IDIOT! I'm not joining your crew!"
"Awww...Why not?"
"Because your pirates! I refuse to join with pirates!"
"Doesn't matter! Your my nakama! So I refuse your refusal!"
Nami then bops him in the head. "Listen when someone is speaking!" She yelled with blank eyes and shark teeth. Nami then felt the aura of death. She slowly turns to a cowering Coby, and a very pissed Boa Hancock.
"Nami was it?...I don't mind that my Luffy wants you on his crew...But if you don't want me to throw off this boat...NEVER hit him again...Is that clear?"
Nami immediately nods. The aura disappeared and Hancock smiled. "Good then. By the way, I'm Boa Hancock, Luffy's lover!...DON'T STEAL HIM FROM ME!...Okay?"
'They were right...She is scarier than Alvida...' Thought Coby.
"I'm sorry...But I still refuse to join your crew!"
"Then how about this? I'll make sure that whatever treasure we obtain, we'll give it to you, no questions asked. Then when you have 100,000,000 beri you may leave."
Nami tensed for a moment. For 8 years, she was a thief, so she knew when someone was lying to her. But she then looked into Luffy's eyes, and she saw sincerity and promise.
"Alright. Fine! I'll take your word for it! But if you double cross me, so help me!..."
"Never! I would never betray my own nakama, unlike other pirates would...I hate those types of pirates too Nami." He thought of Buggy, Kuro, and Don Krieg. Those bastards don't deserve to be pirates.
"Okay then...By the way, what's your full name?"
"It's Monkey D. Luffy!"
Nami giggled a little. "The monkey part is true, why do you look like a monkey?"
"I ate a Devil Fruit!"
Nami and Coby gasped at the revelation.
"A Devil Fruit?! You mean they actually exist?! I thought they were myths?!"
"Shishishishi. Nope! They're real alright! I ate the Saru Saru no Mi and I'm a monkey man!"
"...Kinda underwhelming if you ask me."
"Is THIS underwhelming!?" Luffy aimed his right arm in a different direction. Energy started gathering. Eyes were bugging from Nami and Coby as they saw a yellow energy beam being fired into a random direction. A small explosion could be heard.
Both of them slowly turn to Luffy. The monkey man just laughed at their reactions. "D-Did you j-just fire a beam?" Coby asked. Nami was sweating bullets.
"Yep! That's one of the abilities of the Saru Saru no Mi!"
Coby then gasped as he realized something. "MONKEY!...You have the same last name as Monkey D. Garp, as in Garp the Fist!
"You mean gramps?"
Jaws fell from the deck as both Coby and Nami realized Luffy was the grandson of the legendary marine.
"Well, I'm hungry, time to eat!" Luffy was then stopped by Nami.
"Hold it mister! You can't just drop a bomb like that you know!"
"Y-Yeah Luffy-San! Why are you a pirate if your grandfather is in the marines?"
Luffy didn't say anything for a moment. Both Nami and Coby looked closer at the monkey man.
"I just don't like being told what to do." Both of them fell to the floor.
Hancock already knew the real reason why though. And what happened in the first timeline emphasized why he never joined the marines.
"So where are we going Luffy-San?"
"Were going to Shells Town. In order to get into the Grandline, I'm going to need to expand my crew."
"But that place is known as the pirate's graveyard."
"Yeah! That's why I need a strong crew. And one of them is being held captive at the place you're going. You mean...Roronoa Zoro?" Coby asked nervously.
"If he's a good guy, I'd ask him to join me!" Luffy knew Zoro was a good guy from the start for protecting that girl and her mother from Morgan and Morgan's son.
"WHAAT?! YOU'RE DREAMING AGAIN! HE'S LIKE A MONSTER!"
"We can't be sure about that yet!"
Nami shook her head at their antics. 'Bellemere...What did I get myself into?'
Later at night...
Nami and Coby were sound asleep. The only ones who were awake were Luffy and Boa.
"I don't understand why you're allowing her to join your crew? She hated you when she found out you're a pirate even though you saved her life." While she trusted Luffy, she didn't really feel comfortable about Nami at first.
"Hancock, can't you tell Nami suffered? I know you saw her tattoo as well. Arlong clearly made Nami's life a living hell."
"She acts like she's the only one who is suffering! She thinks Arlong is the worst thing that's happened to her! The woman has to face reality."
Hancock stares at the water. "I don't remember how long...But me and my sisters were slaves to the Celestial Dragons."
She clenched her fist. "We...Were their play things Luffy...They didn't care if we cried, or even felt pain...They just wanted us to suffer..."
Her hand were shaking as she recalled the torture she has gone through with her sisters.
"I was this close to being raped...When Fisherman Tiger showed up...I don't like to think what happened if he didn't show up."
Luffy wrapped his arm around Hancock, which made the woman blush.
"What I'm trying to say Luffy is that Nami is too naive. She doesn't know that other people have it worse than her. Look at the Ohara incident, from what I recalled, The World Government killed all the Ohara's except Nico Robin because they were afraid of what they could read off the Poneglyphs!"
Training wasn't the only thing Luffy and Boa did in the past 3 years, Cloak-San also informed about horrors of the World Government. Luffy already despised the World Government for allowing two of his brothers to die. But this shaken Luffy's resolve even more to protect his nakama.
Luffy also knew Boa had a point. During his first time traveling, he was also naive as he didn't know about such horrid things such as slavery for example. Or about the Rokushi or Haki. They could've been game changers for people such as Crocodile or Enel.
"I guess that's why we are here, to learn from our mistakes...Right Nami?"
Nami actually was pretending to sleep cause she didn't really trust Luffy yet. When you live as a thief for 8 years, you tend to be very cautious. That being said, she was surprised when Luffy knew she wasn't sleeping. Seeing as she was caught, Nami got up and stared at the two as she rubbed her arm.
"Look...Boa...I'm sorry, I guess I shouldn't judge others because I have it hard. And I never knew the World Government would do something so awful..." It made Nami wonder why no marines came to Cocayshi village to stop Arlong.
"I suppose I can overlook it since my captain is interested in having you around."
She leaned closer to Nami's face. "But you better not take advantage of Luffy's kindness...Or else you'll be Ness's next snack understand?"
Nami sweats nervously while smiling. "Yep!"
Boa then smiles. "Good."
Nami was left with one thought. 'I'm going to die if I remain with them...' She sulked.
It was early morning, they reached the port of Shells Town. They all got off the boat while Ness rose leaned down.
"Good boy." Luffy said while he pets the Sea King.
"I still can't believe you have a Sea King as a pet." Nami said.
"Yeah! I don't know why most pirates don't have Sea Kings, they're awesome!"
"Maybe because they eat people?" Nami said.
"Oh yeah!"
Nami sighed at Luffy's antics.
"Just take me to the marine base."
"Why?"
"I told you that the base has the map to the Grandline! If you want to survive the Grandline, you're going to need a map and a good navigator!"
"Oh! So what we're missing is a map then!"
"IDIOT! I already told you I'm not going to be on your crew!"
"And I already told you that I refused your refusal!"
Nami for the life of her sighed as she knew talking to Luffy was useless.
GROWL
Nami just stood at what was either a stomach growling or a small tremor coming from Luffy.
"Shishishishi. Looks like I'm hungry! Let's get breakfast!"
"Me too Luffy-San." Coby said
"I'm also hungry." Boa added
Nami once again sighed. "You better not eat too much!"
Later...
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO EAT TOO MUCH!" Yelled Nami with blank eyes and shark teeth as she saw the mountain of many finished plates. You would think that Luffy's hunger would have ceased since he's no longer rubber right? Well thanks to his new form, his metabolism is at an all time high.
"Ah! That hit the spot!"
"I'M NOT PAYING FOR THIS!"
"Relax Nami, I wasn't to let you pay for breakfast anyway."
Nami then calmed down. "Oh! Nevermind then."
"We'll go our separate ways here! You do your best to be a great marine alright?" Asked Luffy even though he knew he was going to stick around some more.
"I will!...Thank you so much Luffy-San, you have to become a great pirate too. Although we'll be enemies in the future."
'Hopefully not.' Luffy thought, he really didn't want to fight Coby, he saw him as a friend as well.
"Say, I wonder if Zoro is still being kept at the marines' base?" Luffy asked though he already knew the answer.
Suddenly, everyone panicked as they heard Zoro's name. They all clung to the wall. The four saw this go one.
'Looks like we can't just yell out the name Zoro...' Thought Coby.
"I just saw a notice on the streets, there's someone called Captain Morgan at the base." Coby said.
And the same thing happened when they heard Morgan's name. Which shocked Coby and Nami. But not Boa and Luffy as they knew why.
The four left the restaurant as Luffy paid for their meals.
"That's strange! I have a bad feeling about this! I could understand why they'd be scared after hearing Roronoa Zoro's name, since he could escape at any time. But why would they be afraid of a marine captain's name too?!"
Luffy and Boa looked at each other, before turning to Coby who looked at him with no hint of joy.
"Coby...You probably never realized this because you were stuck with Alvida for 2 years, but most of the marines today are corrupted." Luffy answered.
"What?! Impossible! Aren't marines suppose to be the heroes of the seas and fight evil?!"
"Coby, what my Luffy said is true. You remember what happened yesterday, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You remember Gol D. Roger?"
"Of course!"
She turns to Luffy and he nods. Boa then proceeded to talk about Gol D. Roger and his wife both had a son named Portgas D. Ace. She then talked about how the World Government allowed the marine to hunt for any expecting mothers and kill them cause they were afraid of allowing a demon of the Pirate King to be born.
Coby paled at the story he heard, while Nami shed a few tears after hearing that story, realizing that Boa was right about how some had it worse than Nami.
"You see Coby, the world isn't all black and white. There's sometimes gray. All marines aren't good." He turns to Nami. "And all pirates aren't bad."
"And you still want to be a marine? How do you feel about it now Coby?" Boa asked.
Boa and Luffy wanted to see Coby's reaction
"If that's the case...THEN I'LL CHANGE THE MARINES! I'LL RESTORE THE GOOD NAME OF THE MARINES NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES! I WON'T DO WHAT THE WORLD GOVERNMENT TELLS ME TOO! I'D RATHER DIE THAN BE SOMEONE'S PUPPET! YOU HEAR ME LUFFY-SAN! I'M GOING TO ONE OF THE BEST MARINES OUT THERE!"
Luffy smiled at Coby's determination. "The marines could use more people like you Coby."
Meanwhile Nami was in deep thought. 'He's a pirate and yet...He cares more for Coby to achieve his dreams...He's so strange.'
The four reached the marine base.
"It looks pretty ugly up close."
"Who cares! I need to sneak into that base in order to steal that map." Nami said.
"If your looking for Zoro Luffy-San, then he's probably being kept in a secret room or something."
"No! I know he's here!" Luffy used his observation haki to detect Zoro.
The four stopped and Luffy, Coby, and Nami climbed the wall.
Coby and Nami sweats while Luffy grin grew.
"What's wrong guys?" Asked Luffy, unaware of their fears.
"Th..Th..That black bandana and cloth around his waist...And that intimidating aura...It's Zoro!
The Swordsman in question was tied up to a pole, looking weak. Luffy was filled with hope as he say his Swordsman again.
"So he's Zoro, huh...? Looks to me those ropes are pretty easy to break." Luffy deduced. But he knew why was stuck there.
"STOP JOKING! IF YOU FREE HIM, HE COULD MAKE A MESS IN THE TOWN AND EVEN KILL YOU!"
"HEY YOU!" Luffy yelled
"Yeah?"
"IDIOT!" Nami yelled.
"Could you please...Come over here and untie me?...I've been tied up for 9 days and I'm exhausted...I'll repay you. I could hunt down a fugitive and give you the rewards. I'm not lying. I'll keep my word." Zoro begged.
"No...Don't do it Luffy-San! Don't be tricked by his words!...If you free him, he'll kill us and escape!"
"He can't kill me because...I'm strong too." The first time he said that was to relieve Coby, but this time he actually meant it.
'He...He's really hopeless!' Thought Coby lamenting.
A ladder appeared next to the three and a black haired girl climbed it and jumped over the fence.
"Don't do it! It's dangerous!" Coby warned.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Zoro questioned. But he was worried for Rika.
"Luffy-San go stop her! She could be killed!"
"She'll be fine Coby. Zoro's still tied up to the pole, and given the fact he hasn't eaten or drunken anything for 9 days, he's weak for the moment." Luffy deduced
"Do you want to die or something? Get lost!"
"Uhm, Onii-chan, I made some rice balls for you! You haven't eaten for a long time right?"
"I'm not hungry! Go away!"
"But..."
"I don't want it! Leave me! I'll kill you if you don't go!"
"Don't pick on little kids, or else I'll have to report to my father about it Roronoa Zoro!" Said a cocky voice.
The three turned to some marine officers and a main with weird hair, which was Captain Morgan's son, Helmeppo.
"He must be someone important in the marine...Thank goodness the girl is safe now..."
"I wouldn't count on it Coby, something about him rubs me the wrong way." Said Nami, even she knew that this guy was a scumbag based on his looks.
"Tch...If it isn't the captain's bastard son..."
"Bastard? Don't get cocky! My dad is a Marine Lieutenant!"
He walks to Rika and snatched her riceballs. "Well hello little girl, these rice balls look pretty tasty."
"Hey! Stop it!" Rika cried out.
The man tasted it and his face morphed into disgust. "BLEGH! HORRIBLE! You put too much sugar in it! You're supposed to put salt in these things!"
"But..But I thought they'll taste better if they're sweet!
Helmeppo throws them to the ground and stomps them.
"HOW COULD SOMEONE EAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS?! DAMN IT!"
"No stop! He can't eat this anymore!"
"Th...That's so cruel! That girl worked so hard to make them!" Coby said, as he couldn't believe someone like him was in the marines.
The blonde haired man smiles. "Don't worry! The ants will them eat them all up!"
Rika then tears up. "That's so cruel! I...I tried really hard to make them!"
Helmeppo then frowns. "Aww...Don't cry! It's no wonder why I hate little brats so much! It's all your fault you know? Didn't you see what was written here?" He points to a sign.
"Anyone who helps a prisoner will be charged with the same crime. Marine Captain Morgan."
He leans closer to Rika. "You know how scary my dad can be right? You would've gotten the death penalty if you're a grown up!"
He turns to one of the marine officers. "Oi, throw this brat out!"
"Huh?!" He asked.
Helmeppo grabs his collar. "I'm telling you to throw her outta of here! Are you trying to disobey me?! I'm telling my dad!"
"Ay..Aye sir!" He replied because he didn't want Captain Morgan to murder him.
The Marine Officer proceeded to throw Rika over the wall.
"AHHH!"
Rika was then caught by Boa.
"You okay?"
The girl nods.
"Please go home, I'm sure your family is worried about you."
"Thank you!"
"I can't believe that asshole had the NERVE to throw a little girl over a wall. She could've been hurt!" Nami yelled.
She and Coby noticed Luffy wasn't there. They turned and found that Luffy was near Zoro.
"LUFFY-SAN!" Coby yelled.
"WHAT IS THAT IDIOT DOING?!" Nami roared out.
"You still haven't left yet? Leave now, or else he'll go tell his dad about it." Zoro warned.
Luffy just smiled. "I'm looking for someone to join my pirate crew."
"Pirate?" Zoro scoffed. "Heh! So you just gave up on life and became a crook huh?"
"There's nothing with being a pirate! It's my dream!" Luffy said.
"Hm? Don't tell me you're gonna set me free and force me to join you?"
"Nope! I would never do that to my own Nakama! But everything thinks you're a bad guy though."
"A bad guy huh? I'll never join you. Because I have something that I need to take care of! I-"
Luffy crossed his arms. "Captain Morgan's son told you that if you survive for a month, he'll set you free. Am I right?"
"...How did-"
"Do you really expect that asshole to keep his word? He just told a Marine Officer to throw a child. Scum like him will break promises." Luffy said truthfully.
Zoro looked down. "Even if that's true...The only reason I'm here was because that bastard's son' pet wolf was about to attack that little girl. But I killed it and he got mad and wanted me arrested. I refused of course, but he threatened to tell his father to have her and her mother executed if I didn't comply. And here I am now. Besides..."
He then smiled. "I'm gonna do everything I can to stay alive and fulfill my dreams!" Luffy saw dedication and resolve in his eyes. That's why he picked Zoro as his first mate.
"Well, I'll be off then..."
"Hold on!" Luffy turned to Zoro.
"The rice ball. Can you pick up for me?"
"Sure."
Luffy picked up the messed up Rice-Ball and feed it Zoro, which the Swordsman hated the taste but fought on. He swallowed it.
"Tell the little girl...The rice balls taste very good. Thank you very much." Zoro requested.
"Sure. Guys were leaving!"
"Really?!"
"Yep! He ate all of it!" Luffy said.
"Hmm...Is he really that horrible person his reputation says he is?"
"Oni-chan didn't do anything wrong, it's just that the people in this town are afraid of him."
"It's true, Zoro told me that the Morgans would've executed her if he didn't turn himself in."
"I don't get it Luffy-San, so maybe he has a bad temper, but chasing down fugitives, isn't that a big crime either." Coby deduced.
"The Morgans are the only bad guys here. The Marine Officers are just afraid of Captain Morgan, so is everyone else in Shells Town. You'll get executed if you obey them."
Luffy turns to Coby. "You see Coby, there are some Marines out there who think of themselves as gods among people. And as a result, they become corrupted by power and treat people unfairly like in this town. Those are called Corrupted Marines."
Coby didn't say anything as he knew Luffy had a point. 'This gives me more reason to change the Marines.'
"HEH HEH HEH HEH! WHO DARES RAISE HEAD? I'LL TELL MY DAD!"
The five turn to Helmeppo who was walking without a care in the world, and they saw the towns people in kneeling position. "Do you want to be like Roronoa Zoro? I'm gonna publicly execute him in three days. I'll use him to set an example for all of you!"
Rika, Nami, and Coby gasped.
Luffy frowned. "Didn't you say you'll give him a month?"
"Who are you? How rude. I was only joking with him! Only an idiot would believe that!" He then stared at her.
"Hey babe, how about you and I go out?"
Boa's eye twitched in annoyance.
"Oh no..." Luffy said as he knew what was going to happen.
"How about I rip off your head and use it as a coaster?"
"Oh! Playing hard to get? I like that in a woman, especially those massive breasts of yours."
"I'm going to make this clear for you, I'm already taken! And there's no way I would date someone who still holds their Daddy's hand!"
This earned a few snickers from Rika, Nami, Luffy, the towns people, and the marine officers.
Helmeppo grits his death. "WOMAN! YOU BETTER GO ON A DATE WITH ME! YOU KNOW MY FATHER! I DON'T WANT HIM TO KILL A SLUT LIKE YOU!"
Silence entered the town as Helmeppo insulted one of the most prettiest women in the world.
"He's a deadman." Luffy said as he adjusted his hat. Even Nami knew what was going to happen next.
Without warning, Boa disappeared and reappeared in front of Helmeppo.
"What are you-EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Came the girlish scream of Helmeppo as most of the men here winced at what the black haired woman has done. Helmeppo fell to the ground as he clutched his family jewels. This display cause Rika to laugh hard.
"...Why?" He asked in pain.
"By the way..." Luffy walked up and swung his tail, hitting Helmeppo face first, causing him to skid a few distance. This surprised the marine officers and the townspeople.
"That's for lying to Zoro and insulting my woman."
"Oh Luffy!"
She turned pink. "I love it when you defend me!"
Nami sweat in fear. 'She's a scary woman...'
Helmeppo got up and his mouth was bleeding. "Y...Y...You dare to hit me?! My dad hasn't hit me even once! Don't you know who I am?! I'm Captain Morgan's Son! I'll tell him about this! You'll both regret hitting me! You'll get Death Sentences and my father will be the one who'll execute you!" Helmeppo declared as he got up and walked away from the group. Luffy was glad that he changed later on.
"You do realize that by attack him, were on the marine's shit list right?" Nami asked.
Coby then panicked. "AHH! She's right! If Captain Morgan is informed about this, he'll send his Marines after us!"
"We'll deal with that later, I'm going to talk to Zoro again." Luffy said
"Wait! I'm coming with you so that I get that map!" Nami declared.
"Oh-I'm coming too!" Coby joined.
Boa turned to Rika. "Thank you for all you done Rika, but its best if you stay out of trouble."
"Okay Nii-San!" Rika cheered.
"Time to help my lover!" Boa said.
Marine Base Main Building...
On top of the roof, a large man was looking over the town.
"I am great!" Said a man with a cigarette in his mouth.
"YES! Because you are the Captain, Captain Morgan!" Said a scared Marine Officer.
"But lately, the offerings seem to be...Decreasing?" He asked.
"Ah! That...About the money for the offering...The citizens have their financial problems too..."
The man slowly turns to the Marine Officer.
"It's not a matter of financial problems...It's because they don't respect me!"
Then Helmeppo appeared on the roof. "DAD!"
The man looked at him with uncaring eyes. "What do you want Helmeppo?"
"I WANT YOU TO KILL SOME PEOPLE!"
"...And why?"
"But Dad! A slut and a monkey looking bastard hit me! Why won't you help me take revenge! Even YOU never hit me before!"
Morgan walked up to his son.
"...Do you know why I never hit you?"
"Yes because I'm..."
He was then slugged by the larger man. He skid across the roof. This shocked the Marine Officers on the roof, as they never would've thought Captain Morgan would hit his son.
"A BASTARD'S SON THAT'S NOT WORTH HITTING!"
Helmeppo slowly moves his head and looked at his father.
"Why the hell do I have to clean up your mess? You can do a lot of things in my name, but I only punish those who oppose me!"
He leaned closer to his son's face.
"Don't misunderstand! You're not the great one here! It's your father!"
Helmeppo slowly nods as he feared of being hit again.
"Rumor says a little mouse sneaker into the execution site, is this true?"
"Oh you mean the little girl!...I've already..."
Morgan turned to Helmeppo. "You killed her right?"
Helmeppo looked nervous. "But! She's a little girl! She hasn't realized her mistake."
Morgan points to a Marine Officer. "Hey you! Go into town and kill her! I don't care how old she is, whoever opposes me will die!" Morgan ordered.
"But...But captain! She's just a little girl! I could never do that!" He may of been afraid of Morgan, but even he couldn't do something so horrible as to kill an innocent girl.
"Hmph! You're a Marine Captain right? And the rank of Lieutenant Junior grade is lower than the rank of Captain...Isn't it?"
"Y..Yes."
"IN THAT CASE YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO GO AGAINST MY ORDER! IF I ORDER YOU TO GO, THEN YOU WILL GO!" He barked.
"...I can't!"
"YOU TRAITOR!" He yelled as he swung his massive axe, slicing the poor marine officer as blood flew from his back, he fell to the floor dead.
"Nverrmind...For the sake of reminding the citizens...I'll go there myself."
He then looked at his right arm.
"With this arm, I rose to the rank of captain. Rank is the most important thing in the world! I am the highest ranking officer in this base, which means I'm the greatest one here! GREAT MEN DON'T MAKE MISTAKES!...Do you all agree?!"
"YES SIR! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT CAPTAIN!" They said as they feared death from Captain Morgan.
Morgan then turned to his stone statue. "Look! This a symbol of my power! A statue that has been finished today after years of work! Now stand up my great statue at the highest point of this base!"
"Rankyaku!"
Without warning, a sharp air blade appeared and hit the statue.
The midsection of the statue was cut in half as the top fell to the floor, which crumbled afterwards, while the bottom half crumbled as well.
Jaws dropped as everyone on the roof couldn't believe what just happened.
"You know, if you want to have a decent statue, then I would recommend using bronze, silver, and gold. Using stones was a dumb idea."
Luffy landed on the roof, with his signature grin. 'I know the first time was an accident, this time it's personal.' Luffy was referring to Morgan's statue.
"You..." Morgan had a dark look on his face.
"Oh no..." The marine officers said.
"Do you have ANY idea how long it took to build that statue?!"
"Yeah! I'm guessing it was used by all the money you took from those townspeople."
He cracked his knuckles. "I'm going to kick your ass!"
"MEN! CAPTURE HIM SO I CAN TAKE HIS HEAD OFF HIS BODY!" Morgan ordered.
Luffy used Soru and grabbed Helmeppo. "Your coming with me!" 'Cause I don't remember where Zoro's swords are.'
Morgan's son screamed as he was taken hostage by Luffy again.
