Chapter Four: The Grass Grows Bluer
As Amy stepped off the train she could immediately tell why this place was called Blue Valleys. There were rolling hills and wide valleys which looked fairly normal. Except that the grass was a cool shade of blue. Perhaps she had made a mistake in coming here? From the moment she saw it, she knew that those blue grass-covered hills would only remind her of Sonic.
She closed her eyes and felt the wind rushing past her. And the wind would always remind her of the way it felt when Sonic ran past her. For Amy it almost took extreme faith that the place wasn't just there to remind people of Sonic. It was only a coincidence. Just a coincidence. Well, Amy had better and more important things to do. She had to check out her new house and make sure that all was perfect.
At her new house, Amy could see two coyotes unloading the last of her furniture. "Thanks, guys," she said. One of them was the one she had seen loading up her things. The other...looked strangely familiar. "You won't need any help carrying these beautiful belongings in, will you?" he said.
Suddenly Amy knew who he was. "Antoine?"
"Amy!" Antoine smiled. "Yes, glad to see you. It's been four years, no?" Antoine the Coyote had once lived in Knothole Village but later moved. "And how is the Princess?"
Amy felt so excited she could hardly speak. "Sally? Yeah, she's doing great! Everyone is!" Amy lowered her eyes. "Except me..."
"Oh, really? Explain." Antoine listened to every word as Amy told of Sonic's insult, her solution, her memories. For once in a long time Amy truly felt she was being understood.
"True, Sonic can be quite reckless and non-feeling for girls," Antoine said.
The two talked for several more minutes. Finally, Antoine said, "We had better get you started by moving in your furniture. We can catch up later, yes?"
Amy loaded in her things with Antoine's help. "I'll get everything in place later," she said as the two finished up.
"Yes, and we shall meet again," said Antoine as he left.
Amy went to sleep with a bubbly feeling inside. However, Sonic didn't.
Sonic was still feeling somewhat guilty about what he had said to Amy. Amy hadn't even talked to him for a few days. Could something have happened? Or was Amy just ignoring him? He told himself that he would visit her house the next day and apologize, and everything would be okay. After all, it wasn't like Amy would move to another town. She wasn't that crazy. Everything would be fine the next morning.
The next morning Sonic headed out the door, planning to visit Amy. He ran along the path until he was there. The first thing he noticed was the empty flower bed. Strange. Sonic was about to knock when he noticed the door was open and unlocked. Very strange. When he walked in, everything was dark, cold, and empty. Was he dreaming? Nothing was in the rooms except a pile of pictures. Leafing through them, Sonic noticed that all of them were of him. Upstairs was the same. Nothing.
Could something have happened to Amy? Sonic knew that everything was connected. It didn't take him long to find out that Amy had moved. His heart skipped a beat. He had to find her. Fast. Sonic rushed out the door and was about to start running when something caught his eye in Amy's once-was rose garden.
A tattered and withered pure white rose.
Sonic recognized it. He felt like stepping on it. Amy wouldn't care if he did. But instead he picked it up, careful not to touch any thorns. Because things that were once beautiful but now poor...could turn beautiful once again.
(A/N: Wow, the drama! Sorry for the wait, this just proves that I can't update a story even when it was literally completed twelve years ago. Anyway. Pro tip from young-me; instead of writing actual dialogue you can just say "the two talked for several more minutes"! :D It's totally the same thing.
While visiting my parents' house, I found two other Sonamy fanfics I had written that also have Amy making Sonic jealous with another boy. Guess it's obligatory in the genre. Oop-is that a spoiler? Are Amy? And Antoine...? If so, let's not think too hard about their, uh, canon ages. I don't think little-me was thinking about it, anyway. At least I didn't make Sally the mean girl...but I'm getting ahead of myself. See you next update!)
