The Vegeta Ranobe Project

Vegeta, the Proud Saiyan Prince

Adaptation Arc Part I

Volume 02: The Proud Saiyan Prince Lives on Earth!

Chapter 3: The Irritation of Prince Vegeta II

The sole worry of Bulma Briefs right now is how she would make her extremely stubborn, self-centered and obnoxious house guest listen to her. Up until now, she doesn't have any idea why she ended up with such a duty to take care of the arrogant little jerk who is apparently unaware that he has the power to destroy the universe with just mere desire or emotions.

Honestly, up until she had witnessed Tama speaking the human language, she didn't believe Piccolo's words much. She knew Vegeta could destroy the Earth if he wanted to, like blow it up or cause the same apocalyptic phenomenon he created just by charging up his energy. She knew he has enough energy to do so. But for him to have god-like powers like control reality itself is beyond ridiculous.

Vegeta left the compound again, just like what he does the previous nights. She wondered what he's up to.

Come to think about it. He's been wearing that pink shirt and yellow trousers for quite some time now. She thought of buying him his own set of clothes tomorrow while she pick up the materials they needed for the Gravity Room. She hoped he'll come back home so she could tell him to go with her. Will he even agree?

"He had too or else, he'll have to suffer wearing pink colored clothes all the time." she giggled to herself, remembering Vegeta's furious reaction when he found the shirt that offended him. It truly befits the Saiyan perfectly, made him quite the normal man rather than the fierce warrior he was supposed to be.

It was a good thing that Vegeta returned during breakfast. He ignored them as he passed by them in the dining room without a single word until Panchy greeted him with a dazzling smile and an enthusiastic tone that would have made Vegeta flinch at that high pitched voice of hers.

"Oh good morning, Vegeta-chan! Would you like to have some breakfast with us?"

His face still held his perpetual scowl and responded without even looking at her, "Take it to my quarters." in an imperious tone before he went upstairs without bothering to hear Panchy's reply.

"Uhm... Bulma-chan, do you mind taking these for him after you are finished?" Panchy pleaded, turning over her daughter's direction.

Bulma frowned to herself. It's not like she hated being ordered around by her mother. She was getting livid about Vegeta's rude attitude towards them. That Saiyan jerk makes everything difficult for them. Why not eat his breakfast with them since he was already there? Why does he need to order them to bring him his breakfast on his room? Yes, he is a prince but this place isn't his kingdom and she and her parents are certainly not his slaves!

Bulma agreed to bring the food to the royal jerk for the last time. She swore she would speak her mind once she meet him upstairs.

Taking the damn cart filled with several plates of pancakes, a pitcher of warm milk, a bottle of honey, a tub of butter, a big bowl of miso soup, an empty glass and a pair of bread knife and fork with her, Bulma arrived at the front door to Vegeta's chosen room. She scowled, feeling upset about his attitude. She clearly doesn't forgive him for what happened to Tama-chan last night and what he did to her father several nights ago.

She knocked at the door hard with her tight fist, "Open this up, jerk!" she shouted at him.

Vegeta immediately opened the door for her and he stepped away from the doorsill, silently darting his eyes inside. She glared at him as she entered his room, pulling the cart with her.

Looking at his room, Bulma was surprised to find the place as neat as this. She honestly expected him to rip the room apart when he took over. Oh yeah, he was rarely even here in the first place, maybe that's why.

"Here is your breakfast, your royal jerk!" she snarled at him venomously. She walked up to him fearlessly, her blue eyes ablazed with anger that she didn't care anymore about the intimidating warning glare the Saiyan Prince was giving her back. And as she leaned over him to glare at him eye to eye, Vegeta's own glare melted just a little due to his surprise.

What's the matter with this blasted human woman? For some reason, she didn't back away even as he sent her a look that would have made other people, even fierce warriors, cower in fear and run away from him. This woman though, in her fury, stepped forward with such courage. He could tell she was pissed off again. His attitude and the way he treated her and her family was finally grating on her nerves. He could feel her anger seething and see it ablazed in her cerulean eyes. She was about to speak her mind to him and he expected it to be quite interesting.

"Now listen here. This is going to be the last time anyone of us will take your damn food in your room. After this, you are going to eat with us downstairs whenever we call you. If you don't want that, then you can go and pick your food up and take it yourself in here! Do you understand?"

Vegeta simply stared at her in silence with that cold gaze in his dark eyes. Without saying a word, he turned to the cart and pulled it with him towards his bed so he could begin to eat.

Is he going to ignore her just like that? Bulma became even more furious.

"Hey, are you even listening?!" she yelled at him.

Vegeta raised his eyes at her as he gobbled his pancakes without even bothering to put on the honey and butter over it. He simply murmured a low "Hn." and continued eating.

Bulma sighed in exasperation. Whatever. It's hard to make him listen. She shook her head before she told him, "You are coming with me today to pick up the materials for the Gravity Room. I would need to buy you your own set of clothes too."

"Where?" he asked in an disinterested tone.

"Where? The shopping mall, of course!" she responded to him with an annoyed tone as if the answer to his question was already obvious.

This time, Vegeta stopped eating as his scowl deepened and he looked at her with narrowed eyes. "You mean that noisy, crowded place? I'm not interested." he said with a flat tone.

Bulma was confused. "How did you know that?!"

He didn't respond as he returned to eating his food.

"Vegeta, you have to come with me so you can try the clothes on. I have no idea what size you wear, considering that those clothes you had on you right now are a little too loose on you. Plus, you can choose whatever design you like. You can't be seen wearing that pink shirt the entire time, right?"

Vegeta frowned as he looked down at his clothes, being reminded of the humiliating color he had on him. He had completely forgotten about it the entire time! The woman made a point. Plus, if he didn't come with her, then she might buy him clothes that won't be suitable to his tastes at all. Perhaps, she might think of buying him pink colored clothes just to piss him off as revenge for his rude treatment. That would be too problematic.

Seeing Vegeta glaring at his clothes as if he would burn it anytime soon, Bulma knew she finally caught his interest.

"So, what do you say? Are you going to come with me today?"

Vegeta's pace of eating suddenly sped up. It was as if after realizing that he's still wearing the pink bad man shirt, he wanted to take it off of him as soon as he gets new clothes. Bulma tried not to laugh.

"Leave your dishes out of your room and take your shower. I will ask papa to lend you some of his clothes."

He snarled at her, giving her a warning glare. "That would better not be pink or I swear I am going to-!"

"-Yeah. Yeah. I know. I know." Bulma mumbled.

She left Vegeta alone so she could ask Doctor Briefs to lend him some clothes. Her father was impressed of his daughter for being able to convince Vegeta to actually do something such as going out with her today.

"Well, he had no other choice." Bulma chuckled to herself. Her father handed her a plain, black tank top, a pair of blue jeans, a belt, a pair of socks and black boots.

"Here. I'm sure the boy would like them. I just thought he'd prefer plain, dark clothing considering his attitude. I just hope it would fit him well. The tank top is stretchable but it seems small for that build of his." that's what her father said to her when he handed her the clothes.

Meanwhile, Vegeta was contemplating to himself. He really didn't want to go with that blasted woman but he doubted she will be capable of choosing his garments. He knows that the mall is a noisy, crowded place full of these pathetic humans. He learned about that during his trip to Earth via the data sent to him by his computer. He could imagine the torture it would bring to his patience now and was thinking if he should back out now or else, he might lose his control and begin blowing up the place to ashes.

He heard the woman knock and said that she left his change of clothes over the rack. She said she'll be waiting for him in the front door in thirty minutes and then she walked out after that.

Once he was done with his shower, Vegeta found his change of clothes. It wasn't exactly as he had hoped since it looked too ordinary by human standards but he thought it was better than that pink abomination.

While Bulma was dressing up, Tama-chan entered the door.

"Lady Bulma," the cat said.

She almost jumped in surprised and nearly screamed for the owner of the strange voice to get out until she realized it was just their pet cat. She still couldn't get over the fact that Tama-chan is now speaking the human language.

"Tama-chan! What's the matter?" she breathed, willing herself to relax.

"When you go out with his royal highness, please be careful." Tama said. "I could sense his mood in a more terrible light."

"That's nothing new. Vegeta is always in a bad mood."

"Well... How should I say this? I can feel that his mood is setting up a menacing atmosphere in reality. If this keeps up, then something bad might happen later on."

Bulma frowned. Tama-chan is giving her a foreboding warning. Is it possible that merely inviting Vegeta to shop for his own clothes could end up in a catastrophic disaster?

"I understand. Thank you, Tama-chan."

When Vegeta finally came down to the front door, wearing the new clothes the woman gave him, he found her gawking at him for a long moment.

Bulma never thought he would look that good in a dark tank top and fitting jeans. Not even her boyfriend, Yamcha or her best friend, Goku looked that sexy at all.

Vegeta's height might be petite but he was indeed hot. His body was ripped and perfectly sculpted, like those of Greek gods she would see in illustrated mythology books or bodybuilders in competitions. His tank top was too fitting against his muscle bounded frame, it was like a second skin. She could see the curves of his chiseled chest and his abs despite the darkness of the color of his top. His bare, muscular arms were flexed as he crossed them over his pectorals as he glared at her with a look of distaste.

"Woman, I know I'm good looking, but I absolutely hate being stared at." he growled at her. The feral sound snapped Bulma out of her girlish thoughts and she blinked at him.

Did he just attempt to tell her a joke? She initially thought he was but knowing he had a prideful, narcissistic and a serious personality, he probably wasn't joking. After all, Bulma realized that Vegeta, of all people, would never joke about anything. He was always dead serious about everything, no matter what.

She scoffed at him defensively, rolling her eyes off him. "Oh please! You're not even that good looking to have my attention!"

Vegeta silently snorted. His lips, which formed an upside down v, slowly crooked upwards in a mischievous smirk. "I would like to believe that if I had not caught you in the act of gazing at me from head to toe."

The woman's face immediately flushed as red as a tomato. There's no telling this jerk! "Ugh! Whatever! Let's just go!"

Bulma led him out of the house and there she took a box of hoi-poi capsules from her pocket. She picked one of the capsules within the box numbered 576. She pressed the plunger on the top of the capsule and hurled it several meters in front of them. It burst in a puff of smoke and a yellow, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft appeared.

Behind her, Vegeta stared at the plane with such incredulity. What kind of trickery did he just witness? How did that tiny thing turn into something this massive? How come he didn't know about this? He just stood there with his thoughts as Bulma climbed on the driver's seat, humming a happy tune that sounded like an ominous theme for disaster in Vegeta's ears.

When she noticed that Vegeta was still standing there, she called out to him. "Hey Vegeta! What are you doing just standing there? Come over here!" she tapped on the seat next to hers.

Wow. That look on his face was extraordinary, she thought. This was the first time she saw another expression on his face aside from those cold and angry look he always wore. She guessed he is even capable of being surprised. She giggled to herself, remembering Goku having that same look on his face when he witnessed her using her father's well known invention, the hoi-poi capsules, right in front of him.

Vegeta snapped out of his awe and his expression returned to its default, angry look. "Tch!" he gritted his teeth as he walked over the passenger side and almost ripped the door open when he pulled, causing the plane to shake towards his direction.

"Hey! Be careful, would you?!" she scolded him. Vegeta sat on the seat and slammed the door, shaking the vehicle once again. "Vegeta!"

"What?! I was being careful!" he snapped at her, giving her an annoyed glare.

"No, you're not." Bulma wanted to say but she thought that maybe, he was indeed being careful by his standards because if not, the aircraft would probably have exploded already. She fought the urge to run a palm over her face, though she couldn't help the exasperated sigh she let out of stress. Now, she had a feeling that Vegeta would quickly destroy the Gravity Room as soon as he entered it.

Vegeta's mood was already bad to begin with. Since his defeat against Kakarot over a week ago, his mood never lightened up the way it used to be. After all, with him being trapped in a mudball full of weaklings, he cannot find a way to ease up his stress the way he used to do. Before he came to Earth, his way of releasing his stress and anger would involve him torturing and spilling the blood of his victims as they slowly die in his hands. Their blood curdling screams is like music to help him relax and enjoy. Sometimes, the sight of a planet slowly succumbing to destruction and the beautiful fireworks it would create as it light up the darkness he caused in that world is another relaxing sight to behold. As much as he wanted to destroy the Planet Earth and kill its weak inhabitants, he knew he cannot do that as of now. Since he was trapped on this planet, he needed these humans to give him everything he need, to build him a suitable training room so he could get stronger and to help him reach his goal to become a Super Saiyan, surpass Kakarot and kill that rotten Freeza as revenge. His pride as a Saiyan Warrior Prince was slashed to ribbons and he had no other choice but to seek their help. And it was infuriating him! Not even training in the wasteland where he suffered his humiliation these past few days he was away from Capsule Corporation did anything good to him. The Gravity Room would take another day to finish and now, he had to deal with this infernal human woman for the entire day. And her scolding him for reasons he could not understand is making him even more annoyed. It's not his fault these trash from Earth could not withstand his immense Saiyan strength! He knew he adjusted his power enough not to blow up this damn vehicle!

Bulma noticed he was getting impatient by now the way he was gritting his teeth like that and his eyes twitching in his attempt to control his anger. He had no tolerance when it comes to being reprimanded due to his pridefulness. She must have offended him greatly.

"Hey." she called his attention. Her voice now soft. "I'm sorry. I just forgot that you're too strong I thought you're not being careful."

His dark gaze fell on her. "Whatever. Just step on it. I don't want to waste any more time for this."

She piloted the aircraft at full speed towards the island where the shopping district is. While on the way, Vegeta impatiently growled, complaining: "Seriously! I've ridden galactic slugs faster than this stupid vehicle of yours!"

Bulma had to control her urge to roll her eyes at him. "Just a little more and we're there, okay?" she assured him.

"Better be," he spat.

"Oh come on, Vegeta. This is for you and your training room. You don't have to be grumpy about it." Bulma told him. "Maybe if you think hard about it, the Gravity Room and everything you ever need would appear right in front of you and we won't be dealing with any of this."

"Are you really an idiot?" he said, looking over her direction. "I am no magician to make things appear out of thin air. The Gravity Room won't be building itself on its own. What the hell are you talking about?"

"Whoah. I didn't expect him to have this much common sense." Bulma thought to herself in awe as Vegeta kept on both insulting her and complaining in the background. "Hmm... I guess he really is different than Son-kun. He's not easy to goad at." Bulma inwardly sighed as she thought that telling Vegeta this would make things a lot easier for them both.

"Of course. I was only kidding around. You know the saying that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it?" Bulma said.

"That could be true so long as it makes any sense. Making things appear out of thin air isn't one of them."

"Then how about becoming what Son-kun transformed into?" she suggested.

Vegeta gave her an annoyed grunt, and he responded with indifference. "Foolish woman. My powers doesn't grow that easily. We Saiyans only grow stronger when we subject ourselves to either a furious death battle or vigorous training methods that would place us in the brink of death. And when we recover from that moment, we break through our limits and achieve new levels of power beyond what we previously had. That's why training or fighting against stronger opponents is the only way for me to achieve Super Saiyan power."

Now, Bulma understood why Son-kun continuously get stronger everytime he fights. It's in their Saiyan blood.

"Right..." Bulma agreed, sheepishly smiling at him.

What the hell is she thinking saying those things to him anyways? She thought it would make the entire ordeal they had today easier if only he believed her. But what if Vegeta indeed believed her and discovered he can actually do those things if he truly desired? Then she could have placed the entire Universe in danger. She could only hope that despite the efforts they would give to satisfy his needs to achieve the Super Saiyan power, that it would be enough to soften him up one day and decide to be merciful upon them. She didn't really wish to help someone whose goal is to kill and destroy them after all they did for him.

When they finally arrived on the shopping district, Bulma descended her aircraft into the landing port and once they were out of the vehicle, she pushed a button on the side to shrink it back to its capsule form. As she put the capsule back to its case, she found Vegeta glaring at the crowd of people with a deep, angry scowl. It looked to her that he was suddenly regretting coming here with her.

The number of people were beyond what she expected today. It was noisy and crowded and she wondered if she could convince Vegeta enough to continue their plans. He didn't speak anything though, as she led him into the first shop to pick up some lead and magnetic crystals on a shop, which are the much needed materials to his Gravity Room. As they waited for the merchant to put all those things inside one of the empty hoi-poi capsules Bulma provided him, she noticed Vegeta being so tensed. He was looking around the place as if someone or something would come out and get him. It was the same tensed reaction he had when he first arrived on his chosen room several days ago. This man is so distrustful, she shook her head.

After she was handed her orders, she led Vegeta out of the shop and into a big shopping mall filled with lots of people. She found out that there was a big sale happening in the department store that's why people gathered here.

They just entered the mall and Vegeta was contemplating whether to step back and fly back to the annoying house or be the warrior he is and stay with the woman (because he concluded it would be cowardly and unbecoming for a warrior like himself to run away). He expected this place to be crowded, noisy and filled with annoying humans. The noise, the lights, and the various scents bombarding him in all directions were torture to his heightened senses and he suddenly felt like he would lose it there.

"Vegeta, are you okay?" Bulma's voice resounded through the myriad of noises. He glared back at her with a wild look and an animalistic snarl. His breathing was ragged and deep as he try his best to calm himself down and control his urge to blow up the entire place.

"Get on with it, woman! Every second I spend on this damned place makes my blood lust boil! Go now!"

Bulma suddenly had a fearful look on her face as she realized that he was slowly succumbing to his murderous desires. She quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him as she pushed towards the crowd. Where should she bring him? She needs to find somewhere, anywhere that's empty of people, before he snap and destroy this entire place!

She later realized that Vegeta pulled his hand off hers and then she lost him in the sea of people. His petite height made it hard for her to see him despite his strange style of hair.

"Oh my Kami... Vegeta! Where are you?!" she called for him, silently pleading that he remain calm wherever he's gone to. Please don't kill anyone... Please don't kill anyone...

Suddenly, the fire alarm burst through all sides of the mall and people abruptly panicked. Bulma was lucky she was close to the wall because she thought that Vegeta would have gone nearest to the corner, or else she would be caught in a stampede. Her first thought was that Vegeta did something for the fire alarm to go off like that, probably a flare of his ki energy caused it or he could probably have fired an energy blast somewhere. People screamed in panic as they left the mall in hysterics, like scampered mice.

She found Vegeta in the corner, holding the counter of a stiletto he probably picked up in the store and used its six inch heel to smash through the fire alarm in front of him. It was an effective way to make the humans run out of the place.

Bulma walked up to him, shaking her head in distaste of what the Saiyan had done. The fire alarm was still blaring around them and once the mall was cleared, Vegeta let out an annoyed growl and then it suddenly went silent.

He turned to her with a blank look before he hurled the shoe he was holding backwards.

"Let's go." he told her in a cold tone as he walked past her. Bulma stared at him incredulously while he continued on his way.

She led him into the men's section and told him to choose whichever he liked. Vegeta went over his variety of choices, frowning at the ordinary material the garments are made of. They were nothing in comparison to the materials used in his Saiyan Armor and accompanying undergarments. These human clothing looked soft, easy to tear apart and it provided far less protection than his original clothes. He grunted in annoyance as he carelessly tossed the garments he just checked on the floor.

"What's the matter?" Bulma asked him, frowning at the growing pile of clothes on the floor. "Can't you find anything that you like?"

"Everything in here has problems." he growled.

"What kind of problem? The color? The size?"

"The materials. Too ordinary. Too soft to the touch. Are there any that's suitable for training and fighting?"

"If you mean armor like the one you wore when you first arrived then I don't think so. We have camouflage uniforms and training gear used by soldiers and athletes, though."

"Tch! Then where is it?"

"I think it's in the sports section over the third floor."

"Then lead the way."

As Bulma led him towards his desired section, both of them were completely unaware of the strange phenomena that was occurring just outside the shopping mall.

When the people from earlier rushed out of the supposedly burning building, firefighters and emergency teams have been called automatically by the management to prevent the fire from spreading out or help those who are trapped within the building. However, they found out that no one could enter the mall at all. A strange invisible barrier had blocked their way and would push back anyone who dared to go through it. Everybody stared in awe and disbelief at the strange phenomena occurring before their eyes, unable to comprehend what was happening.

Just what is the meaning of this?

Way above the skies, within the lookout of Earth's Guardian deity, Kami sensed the distortion. And since Piccolo was connected to Kami, he also sensed it. Tama-chan, who was in the Capsule Corporation was able to feel the same thing as well.

This is..!

Invisible to the human eye, the shopping mall where Vegeta and Bulma were located, was enclosed by a dome-shaped energy barrier within a sealed reality space, separating the mall to the rest of the original world and creating a new but temporary dimension that realized Vegeta's desire to be left alone with Bulma as they shopped.

"Hey, what is the meaning of this? What's going on?!" Piccolo demanded Kami.

"He's enclosed their location with a temporary sealed reality space. He's merely preventing anyone from entering his territory. This is a result of him not wanting to be in places crowded by humans, effectively pushing them all away from him." Kami responded. "Don't fret. This is quite harmless as compared to what else he could have done. He'll eventually unseal that place once he decides to get out of there."

Vegeta arrived at the sports section with Bulma and he roamed around to check on the various clothes displayed, both of them still unaware of whatever was happening outside the mall.

His scowl deepened each time he checked on one piece of garment to another before throwing them on the floor.

"These have problems either!" he complained impatiently. By the look on his face, he was about to lose his patience and might begin blowing up the place.

"Well... These are made for human athletes after all. But hey, why don't you choose anything for now? If you wanted garments made with the same materials as your Saiyan Armor, I'll look into it if you let me and try to replicate it. It would take time some time, though. So... You have to choose these for now." Bulma offered with a smile.

He gave her a look that was doubting her capabilities, "Can you really do that?"

She winked at him. "I'm a genius. I'm sure I can!" she huffed with pride. "It's going to be simple after studying the materials and finding suitable alloys to replicate it using whatever is available on Earth. Heck, I might be able to do something that's even more durable than that! But... I wouldn't have much time to dwell on it since I have classes to take on the weekdays."

Vegeta turned his head back to the pile of garments on the floor. "I want you to do it immediately."

"Hey! Are you even listening?! I said I have classes!" she yelled at him as Vegeta went to pick up some of the clothes .

"So what?" he said as he hurled the clothes he personally chose towards her.

Bulma caught each garment he threw at her direction, "Do you even know what you're talking about, you jerk?!"

"I don't see any problem with that. You just have to do as I say."

Bulma fumed. "How dare you!" she yelled at him as she threw the clothes he hurled in her direction back to him, causing him to look at her with narrowed, angry eyes that would have made others tremble in pure terror.

"What the hell is your problem, woman?!" he shouted at her.

"What do you even know?! Just who do you think you are to order me around like that?! I'm no servant of yours!"

"Are you an idiot?! Do you even know who you are talking to, you stupid woman?! I am-!"

"-Vegeta, The almighty Prince of all Saiyans?! I know who you are and what you could do and I don't care-!"

"-How dare you interrupt me when I'm speaking-?!"

"-You deserve to learn a lesson about that rudeness and arrogance of yours or you will the live the rest of your life being a royal jerk everybody would hate!"

Vegeta was silenced on that. He stared back at her with those cold dark eyes. Bulma, realizing what she had done, tried to calm herself by taking a deep breath.

"All I ask of you is for you to stop being a jerk and show us a little respect, Vegeta. You live with us. We don't have any problems with giving you all that you ever need. You don't have to be rude and ungrateful towards the people who are trying to help you. We are trying to help you. But that doesn't mean you can order us around with that tone of yours. You don't have the right to treat us like this."

Vegeta rolled his eyes off her, "I don't remember asking for your help." he said. "Your mere duty is to serve me and do as I told you. Otherwise, you, your family and this planet is worthless to me."

"Hey, don't get the wrong idea! I never agreed to serve you! I agreed to help you! It's called help, Vegeta! Help!" she insisted. "You have nothing with you! I brought you home, my mother feeds you, my father builds your training room, I buy you these clothes! How could you think we are here to serve you, you ungrateful jerk?!"

"Don't you understand, woman? I hold the fate of this world at my fingertips! I could have everything I want if I wanted to! That's why... That's why I have all the right to do whatever I want with you!"

"I won't let you treat me and my parents as your slaves! Learn your place, Vegeta! Realize your own situation right now and accept that within that stubborn head of yours! You are on Earth now! Nobody cares who you are or what you can do! You cannot destroy the Earth so long as you cannot defeat Son-kun in battle or find a way to get off this planet! As of now, you need our help! You have no other choice but to swallow that pride of yours, accept your situation, adapt and adjust to the way we Earthlings live! And you better start by fixing that attitude of yours!"

"Why you..." he growled. He's on the losing ground. The woman was right. He never expected her to stand up to him this way and resist his demands. He cannot understand how their conversation about clothes could escalate to such an argument.

He relented by simply gritting his teeth and darting his eyes off her. "Tch! Your insolence is absolutely infuriating, woman. If it weren't for your usefulness to me, I would have destroyed you the instant you speak to me that way. You should feel lucky that I find you and your parents useful. I think we have gone through this conversation over a week ago. Do not test my patience by making me repeat what I told you back then. Moreover, do not expect me to lower myself to live the way you pathetic humans do.

"Now, let's get this over with. I want to end this entire ordeal with you as soon as possible. And when we return to that annoying house of yours, you better begin with the replication of the materials of my armor. I wouldn't have enough patience to wear these ordinary garments."

And without bothering any other word from her, he walked away from her.

Bulma sighed. Why does she even bother telling him these things? It's all but useless considering how prideful and stubborn he was and he never failed to prove it time and time again.

She picked up the clothes she had thrown back to him earlier. "Hey, are you sure these things fit you well?"

He turned back to her, annoyed. "Of course, woman!"

When they reached the counter, they found out that even the cashier girl would have run out of the mall due to the 'fire' earlier. Now how the hell is Bulma supposed to pay for these?

"Why don't we just go and take it? After all, nobody would care-." Vegeta suggested impatiently.

"I'm not going to steal these!" Bulma yelled at him.

'This is your damn fault for making everyone leave the building.' Bulma fumed to herself, giving him an angry glare. She decided to calculate everything before she searched for the closest ATM machine she could find to withdraw money and leave it in the counter. She took some paper bags and shoved the clothes she bought for him in there.

"Now we have the bookstore as our last stop and then we go home." she said.

Once Bulma found the book her father told her to buy, she looked around for the Saiyan. It was rather easy for her to find him due to his flame-shaped hair. She was about to call his attention when she saw him gazing down on a picture book with a different look in his eyes. It was filled with curiosity and longing. She walked over to his side to look at the book he was staring at. It was a hard covered book with probably less than fifty pages. On the cover was an adorable doodle of a grumpy looking monkey with a golden crown on the top of its head, standing on a childish drawing of the Planet Earth, with gray buildings and yellow windows behind him. Above the buildings were several shapes of yellow colored stars and a full moon against the midnight blue background. The title read 'The Planet Without People' in big, bold letters above the full moon.

"No wonder why it caught his attention, the monkey looked almost exactly like him." Bulma thought as she tried to stifle her giggles.

Vegeta doesn't seem to notice her there until she took the book into her hand.

"Do you want this?" she asked him.

Vegeta turned his head to her, looking at her with disgust as if she had just lost her mind.

"Don't be ridiculous. I do not need such a stupid thing." he snorted.

"Damn if I didn't catch you staring at this for quite some time." Bulma thought.

She smiled at him, "I'll buy it just in case. I would really love to teach you a thing or two." she winked at him and then she left to pay her books by the cashier by leaving the money by the counter just as she did in the department store.

Vegeta frowned at her, debating whether to continue denying his obvious curiosity of the book or not. He shook his head and simply followed her.

When they got back home, Vegeta immediately went to his room. Bulma handed to Doctor Briefs the materials they picked up for the Gravity Room and the book her dad asked her to buy for him. She told her father that she would come down a little later because she said she would teach Vegeta how to read.

Before she go to Vegeta's room, Tama-chan followed her.

"Thank goodness, you came back safe! I was worried about you, Lady Bulma!" Tama-chan said in relief as he rubbed his head on Bulma's leg.

"What do you mean?" Bulma asked in a confused manner, her blue eyebrows furrowing.

"His royal highness put up a sealed reality within the place you two were in earlier."

"Sealed Reality?"

"Basically, a dome shaped isolated space within an invisible electromagnetic barrier, which is a dimension separated to the real world. It was created at around 10:26 am today and lasted until you two have returned here. While it is up, both of your energies in this world have disappeared."

"What?! So what happened while we are inside this so-called 'sealed reality'?"

"Aside from your energies disappearing from this world and that strange phenomena we saw on TV, nothing much happen."

"What phenomena did you see on TV?"

"Firefighters and emergency responders were trying to get into a supposedly burning shopping mall but they couldn't. They said they were being pushed back by something invisible."

Bulma picked up her iPhone to check on the news and saw what Tama-chan was talking about. She scanned through the news and found the latest post that the firefighters and emergency responders were now able to get inside the mall only to find out that no fire had occurred. They found one of the fire alarms smashed and the shoe Vegeta used to do it. It was also mentioned that the police are now checking into the CCTVs of the mall to find whoever was responsible for the cause of panic in the mall. Bulma gritted her teeth as she grimaced.

"That damn little jerk! I swear if he invites the police in our front door, I will surrender him so they could put him straight into prison!"

Bulma knocked on Vegeta's door and he opened it with a frown.

"What do you want now, woman?! I thought I'm already done with you!" he snarled at her.

"Have you forgotten what I'm here for?" Bulma told him sharply. She showed him the book she just bought for him.

He glared at the book as if he was looking at poop. His left eye and the corner of his mouth twitched in annoyance.

Getting caught off guard, Bulma pushed him backwards so she can enter his room.

"What the hell are you doing? I do not recall giving you the permission to enter my territory." Vegeta growled at her.

Bulma let out a mocking laughter, "Your territory? Do I need to remind you that this is my house and you are just my guest?"

"Even so, I stay on this room, which means this is my territory." he challenged.

Bulma rolled her eyes. "Whatever." she grumbled. There's no telling this Saiyan!

She showed him the news on her phone, "Congratulations on that stupid stunt you did in the mall! If the police come here looking for you, I will surrender you and let you rot in prison for good!"

Vegeta snorted, "As if!"

Bulma chuckled. She knew Vegeta would simply break out of prison by blowing it up and return here like nothing happened. He could even murder anyone who would dare to arrest him too. She was apparently unaware about the lots of times that Vegeta willingly sent himself to prison for fun on numerous planets due to trespassing, only to end up rampaging and slaughtering those who arrested him and the entire populace before finally obliterating those planets off the face of the Universe.

"Come over here and I'll teach you something." she said, sitting down on his bed and putting the book next to her.

"And what could a mere human like you teach me?" Vegeta asked with a doubtful look. He crossed his arms over his chest and shifted his weight to his left.

"How to read and write. If you're going to live on Earth, you have to learn the basics of the writing system used on Earth so you can use them for future purposes."

"Hmm..." Vegeta muttered. "I do not need you to teach me that."

"What?" Bulma mouthed. "What do you mean you don't need me to teach you how to read and write? Don't tell me you-."

"Of course, I do!" he snapped at her, causing Bulma to jump from the bed. "Have you forgotten that I was going to destroy this planet?!"

"You are not going to do that now and as long as you are staying on Earth, you need to adapt to the ways of living of humans. You don't have a choice until you can find a way to do whatever you want."

Vegeta let out an angry sigh. "Did you honestly think I do not know that?! I am not as naive as Kakarot!" he retorted.

He angrily sat next to her and took the book on his hand. "The Planet without People. Raigu Hasai." he read what's on the cover with an impatient growl. He opened the book and loudly read what's written on the first page, "This book is published by CCB Publishing House-."

"Wait-Stop! You... You can actually read?" Bulma gasped in disbelief.

"I've been trying to tell you, woman?! How stupid can you even get?!" Vegeta snapped at her, getting even more annoyed.

"How did you..?"

"I just told you I was supposed to destroy this planet. Whenever I do so, I make sure to study everything about the planet I was going to invade or destroy. And when I say everything, it means everything. From the different languages, cultures, countries, politics, governments, traditions, ethics, mathematics, sciences, technologies, military, martial arts... Everything that I would need for an effective invasion and would give me an edge in battle. I have studied it all during my trip towards this planet and I have grasped it all."

She knew how haughty Vegeta could become and she doubted his words. "Really? Is that so?"

"I am a royal prince. I'm considered a prodigy since I was born and my intellect was feared by countless worlds." he challenged, before he suddenly frowned and mumbled. "Well, I guess with the exception of this backwater mudball you call your home!"

Bulma laughed boisterously at him.

He frowned. "Are you making fun of me? Nobody who laughed at the Saiyan Prince lived to see the following day." he growled dangerously, giving her a glare that would have made other people run for their lives. Yet, there was Bulma laughing at him as if she doesn't believe a thing he was saying.

"I like it when you excepted Earth from that." she said breathlessly.

Vegeta rolled his eyes and mumbled, "What can I do if your backwater of a planet is full of ignorant fools who doesn't even know who they're talking to?"

Bulma stared at him. Actually, if he wanted to, he could make everyone know who he is.

Come to think of it, this is the first time she heard him talk this much to her since he started living with them. He has been talking to her, despite still having that angry look on his face and being the jerk he is and she thought it's quite an improvement. Maybe spending time with her today made him tolerate her presence enough for him to speak to her. She fought a smile as she urged him to talk more.

"Say... Why did you want to destroy the Earth?" she asked. "I mean... You just said it's a backwater planet full of idiots, so why the need to destroy it?"

"Because that's what I do." he said as he gave her a bored look. "I go to a planet and if it annoys me, I destroy it."

"So just because a planet annoys you, you destroy it?" she chuckled.

He growled. "Don't make me repeat myself."

"What kind of reasoning is that?!" Bulma cannot believe what he just said. He destroyed entire planets just because of his mood swings? What more could he possibly do if that Pathifery power of his goes out of control? It would be bad for the entire Universe!

"Being the Legendary Destroyer of Worlds, it's basically what I do. It's just a job I had fun doing so." Vegeta further explained.

Bulma looked at him in incredulity. She cannot believe the logic behind this Saiyan's mind. How could he live like this thinking that he held the fate of every single thing in this Universe like some sort of deity? Well, with that kind of power, maybe he is indeed some kind of deity. But a deity should be up above, watching at the mortals and performing various miracles. Not live among them and be an unstoppable, extremely prideful and stubborn troublemaker who enjoys being a prick across the Universe!

"Tch... Legendary Destroyer of Worlds. Sounds like a cool pen name taken from an RPG game." she said, not impressed by the title he must have came up for himself. It sounded childish to her but knowing what Vegeta is capable of, there's no wonder he was referred to by that title.

She nearly jumped in surprise when her iPhone abruptly rang. She found that Yamcha was calling her.

"I'll be right back. I just need to take this call from my boyfriend." she told Vegeta and she exited his room to take her boyfriend's call.

Meanwhile, Vegeta frowned to himself, wondering what a boyfriend is. Anyways, that woman was supposed to be helping her father finish the Gravity Room. Why did she even bother to teach him how to read and write? He looked down at the picture book on his hands.

He turned to his bed and lay down in a prone position, putting the book down on the mattress. He started to read the story that oddly caught his interest. Vegeta didn't actually know what piqued his interest with the stupid book. It was a children's book after all! It was as if an invisible force attracted him to it. Like a moth to a flame.

Still, his curiosity got the better of him and he began reading...

The Planet without People

I came from a galaxy far, far away.
I am on a mission to conquer Earth and eliminate all of its inhabitants.

Ah! There it is! The Planet Earth!
Look at all its pathetic inhabitants!
They are all unaware of their impending extinction!
It's going to be my greatest pleasure sending them all to oblivion!

But...

"Danger! Danger!"
The alarm cried out.
My space ship's computer detected a serious problem with my ship!
I had no idea what it was
But I have no other choice but to land on Earth now!

My spaceship plummeted into the Earth.
It was a powerful impact.
I was safe but I realized that my ship was no longer usable.

Great! Just great!
Just how the hell am I going to get out of this stinking planet now?!
It's all wrecked!
I cannot even send rescue signals to HQ.
I failed on my mission.
It's mortifying!

Since I cannot do anything with the ship.
I decided to roam the Earth to look for a place to stay.
While walking around,
I was mesmerized by the sight of the Earth's constellations.
It was a breath-taking view.

I always loved stargazing.
I loved staring at the stars on a clear night sky such as this.
It reminds me of my journey across the galaxies.
Now that I am stuck on a backwater planet such as this,
Without anything, not even a place to stay.
What am I going to do now?

In this small planet,
There was no people.
There were buildings, tall and high,
But there was no people.
People that I can be comfortable to.
People that do not see me as a monster.

There are things inside the building though,
things that held no meaning to me,
things I cannot relate to.
You can call them people,
But they are not people to me.
Just little useless things meant to be destroyed by my hand.

I peeked through the window,
Building after building,
These things annoy me,
I cannot be with them.
I have nowhere to go.

As I walked into the street,
I met this female rabbit.
She gazed at me with her big, curious eyes,
I thought 'Was this creature waiting for me?'
She told me to follow her to a place where I can stay.

The Rabbit hopped as she led the way to her home.
It was good and big.
It was filled with her friends.
They welcomed me to my 'new' home.

'You can stay as long as you like,' the rabbit told me.
I was mesmerized for it was the first time someone showed me such a kind gesture.
I asked her why she was being kind to me.
I told her I am a stranger and that I came here to destroy this planet's inhabitants.
She giggled as she said, 'We do not care about that. Everybody is welcome here.'

Even so, the creatures on this place were no different from the things outside.
They welcomed me, yes.
But I still cannot understand them.
I cannot relate to them.
I felt like I was alone.

Yet, the rabbit tried to show me sympathy.
She was an annoying creature, yet she tried her best not to make me feel lonely.
When I'm with her, I felt something I cannot really understand.
But it felt satisfying to be with her.

One day, I watched as she walked towards a lone, black wolf who adored her very much.
Seeing those two together,
I suddenly felt an unexplainable pain in my chest.
It was so painful I couldn't breathe.
And in my mind I thought, "I wish that wolf doesn't exist..."

...

...

...

...

Vegeta suddenly stopped reading as he slowly fell into a trance. His blank eyes stared at the drawing of the monkey prince watching a pink rabbit and a grey wolf together. And for some reason, in his mind, the animals on the picture morphed into him, Bulma and...

Who was her boyfriend again? Was it that cocky fool who doubted his abilities? The reason why Vegeta had to show off his power and that he was capable of destroying the Earth by destroying Venus right in front of their eyes? What was his name again? Was it...

Yamcha.

The wolf...

Vegeta won't openly admit this to anyone, not even to himself, but spending time with the woman today was interesting. She fought with him, yelled at him, scolded him. He enjoyed igniting her fury, seeing those big blue eyes ablazed with her anger. Seeing her defy him both annoyed him and excite him at the same time.

Being with her was satisfying.

Yet, that man, the wolf, had interrupted that satisfaction he found with her.

I wish that wolf doesn't exist.

Falling deeper into a dark trance, Vegeta's black irises slowly brightened like silver coins, yet his stare was completely blank, like that of a dead man as he mumbled in a flat, monotone voice, "Disappear."

With that, his entire body suddenly glowed an ethereal white light.
