Chapter 4: The Golden Fighter
DB, DBZ, DBGT, and DBS are all owned by Akira Toriyama. I do own them, unfortunately :(
Last time
He gets of Videl and gives her an apologetic voice. "Videl I'm sorry I don't know what came over me. I'm not normally like this" He finishes before running off to wherever. All he knew was he had to run where nobody would look at him weirdly.
Now
Gohan arrived at his locker and grabbed all his belongings quickly, including his school attire. The way he was acting a minute ago was very unlike him; The way he was looking at Videl, ridiculing her, talking trash to her, and standing over, that wasn't him at all. After accumulating his stuff, he made a sprint for the rooftop. He reached his destination and started to sense for any nearby life forces. After making sure the coast was clear, he began to levitate off the ground. It looks like Bulma won't be the only one I will address at Capsule Corp. He thought.
Capsule Corp
"So, you want me to design and make a superhero costume for you?" Bulma inquired her godson. Bulma had the most distinguished mind in the world. Yet, she struggled to comprehend the favor her godson had asked her.
"Yes, I want you to make a disguise for me." He told her.
Bulma had no problem making a disguise for Gohan, but she wanted to know why at least. A different question was lingering in her mind. Why is Gohan not in school? She thought skeptically. She sighed and took another puff of her cigarette. She smiled when she thought back to the first time, she bunked school. Sigh, Those were the days. She reflects. She peered back at Gohan with a calm stare.
"First of all, why are you not in school and second, why should I make you a costume? I don't mind making a disguise for you but tell me why at least.
Gohan looked at her nervously. He never intended to tell her about his odd behavior at school but, he knew that if he didn't start talking, Bulma would have a personal talk with his mother. He takes a deep breath and gives Bulma an earnest look.
"During PE class, the PE instructor said that we would do Martial arts for the semester. I fought this girl, and her name is Videl but guess what, she is the daughter of Mr. Satan." Gohan starts. Bulma gasps at this revelation but nods at Gohan to continue.
"The fight started normally. I held back my power to avoid harming Videl, but as the match continued, I felt myself growing cockier by the second, and at the end of the fight, I told her things like; her dad is a fraud, she thinks she's high and mighty, and she disgusts me."
Gasp "That's not like you at all!" Bulma stated as she granted him a disappointed face.
"Just let me finish. I knew I shouldn't have said that, but it felt like a side of me said it, my Saiyan side. It's not the first time I lost control like that. When I transformed into a Super Saiyan Grade Five against Cell and started dominating the fight, I got cocky and then..." Gohan concluded, refusing to continue the conversation.
Bulma knew where Gohan's conversation would've led to; she assumed that's why he stopped it. She sighs in irritation. How many times does she have to tell her godson that what transpired that day was not his fault? He didn't know what was going to fucking happen, so why was he still blaming herself for his father's death. She ponders as she takes another puff of her cigarette. She decided to shrug off the thought for now and concentrates on the matter at hand. Well, there's only one plausible explanation for Gohan's unusual behavior. 'Adolescence'
"Gohan, perhaps you're behaving this way because of adolescence?" Bulma proposed.
Gohan eyes go wide in amazement. Of course! Bulma's right. My issue has to be puberty. What else could it be? Once again, Gohan was blown away by Bulma's intellect. He gave Bulma a smile of gratitude.
"Your right Bulma. It has to be adolescence because I never got overconfident in my base form. Puberty is increasing my emotions, including my arrogance. I should control my emotions better."
"Your welcome, kid plus; I agree with you. You ought to try and control your emotions because you know what they say. You can't be at the mercy of your own emotions." Anyways, Vegeta mentioned that the Saiyans love to fight but, since you are a Half-breed, your passion for fighting isn't as equally potent as a normal Saiyan, but during puberty or as he prefers to call it 'The Primal stages of a Saiyan' a Saiyan's affection for combat will increase dramatically. It might not be as impactful for you but, I thought I should bring it up."
"Thanks, Bulma, you helped me out today," Gohan relieved in a sigh.
"Don't mention it, kid. Although you still haven't mentioned why you need a cover to hide."
"Haha...oh yeah, about that um so you know-how I registered for school two days before it began, right." Gohan began.
"During each day, there were these crooks who tried to rob the Satan City bank but, I couldn't just stand by and watch them do it, so I transformed into a Super Saiyan to hide my face, and I placed those baddies back in their lane by beating them up. Anyways, I'm worried that someone could discover me by tracing my clothes back to the crimefighting I will be doing. I need a costume to change into when I fight crime." Gohan finished.
Bulma beamed in amazement. It never ceases to astonish her how Gohan was just like his father, helping those who can't help themselves. She took one last puff of her cigar before pushing it on the ashtray, killing it. She took a deep breath and focused on Gohan. She gave him a grin of reassurance.
"I'll make you the costume, but you'll have to give me some time. How about you come by tomorrow and pick it up?"
"That's great, Bulma. I owe you a bunch!" He announces in gratitude.
"Yeah, you do owe me, and you can begin by visiting more often, Gohan," Bulma commands in a playful tone.
"Haha, sorry about that. I'll try to come by more often." He said thoughtfully.
"You better!" She exclaims.
The Next Day
Gohan was riding on nimbus cloud, ecstatic about receiving his Superhero costume. He was humming at the trill of the calm wind blowing as he traveled on Nimbus cloud. He has always enjoyed riding on Nimbus ever since he was a toddler, but after all the treats that came his way, he never got another chance to fly on nimbus cloud, but thankfully it's all over, for now.
Then a sudden revelation hits him. How the hell am I going to face everyone at school. They probably think I'm some freak now! Oh god, this is bad. I just messed up my social life. Gohan concluded in his head. He sighs dejectedly and looks up at the sky.
Capsule Corp
"Morning, Bulma, I'm here to pick up the costume." Gohan greets out loud.
"Morning Gohan, it's on that white table over there." Bulma point to a table.
Gohan makes his way to the table and frowns in confusion. There is no costume to be found, only a wristwatch. The Hybrid turns to Bulma with a confused stare.
"It's not here, Bulma." He points out.
Bulma sighs and makes her way to the table. She hands Gohan the wristwatch he saw.
He frowns deepens as he looks at the watch in dismay. "Okay, you lost me," Gohan admits.
"Attach the wristwatch to your arm and press the red button," Bulma smirks.
"Okay?" Gohan shrugs and decides to do what he was, told to.
He puts the watch on his arm and presses the red button on it, and all of a sudden, a bright light engulfs him. The light goes away after a few seconds, and Gohan feels normal though his clothes don't.
He quickly rushes to a nearby mirror and stares at himself. What he discovers almost makes him shed a tear.
There he stood, wearing his father's Gi. An orange Gi top, a blue t-shirt under and everything. Every single detail about his father's Gi was there. He turns to Bulma and gives her the biggest hug he has ever given to anyone in a long time.
"Thank you, Bulma. It means a lot!" Gohan states while crying on her shoulder.
"Yeah, that's great, and whatever, but you're squeezing me to death." Bulma chokes out.
Gohan quickly lets go of Bulma and smiles in gratitude.
"Sorry about that, but thanks anyway.
Bulma nods before coming up with an idea.
"We should call you something, but what? By the way, I think I forgot to mention that you should turn Super Saiyan while you're wearing this disguise, seeing as there's nothing to hide your face." Bulma points out.
"Oh yeah! I forgot about that..." Gohan admits before transforming into Super Saiyan.
"I think I'll call myself what everyone else is calling me. The golden fighter." Gohan mentions.
"Works for me" Bulma shrugs and checks the time on her wristwatch, which reminds her.
"One more thing Gohan. If you want your normal clothes back, press the blue button on your watch!"
"Okay, Bulma. I think I'll stay in my disguise for now just in case there's trouble. Well, anyway, I'm off. Goodbye!" Gohan declares as he flies out of a close-by window.
"How many times have I told you not to fly out of my windows!"
Satan City
Gohan was flying through the air, still in Super mode. It's been a while since Gohan received his new costume, and he was excited to fight crime and show off his new get-up. He didn't have to wait long as he heard gunshots below him. He smirked before flying down to put a stop to the peace disturbers. "The good old back robbery, let's do this!" He declares.
"Put the money in the bag now!" He commands the employee working at the back.
She nervously begins to pack the bag full of rubber bands of money.
The crook glares at the woman before hitting his gun on her head.
"Pack faster, you tramp!" He yells out before glancing at his partner.
"Keep those hostages in check, and if they move then, blow their heads off!" He demands, and his partner nods.
"I don't think so, you assholes!" Gohan said as he appeared behind the crook who kept the hostages in place.
"Who the fuck are you?" The crook asked nervously.
"Oh me? I'm the golden fighter."
