Devrons ears rung deafly as he came to. He struggled to opened his eyes. He attempted to move his limbs, but they felt as if they were just turned off. He had no control of his body. His breathing began to rapidly increase and he was starting to panic when his eyes opened.
He was laying on his back, staring up at the night sky which was slightly hindered by the forest. A downpour of rain peppered his body.
He slowly sat up, surprisingly not experiencing that much pain. He stretched his arms. So, Devron could assume he recovered fast from injury. He slowly stood up and analyzed his surroundings.
He stood a dozen feet or so from the remains of the helicopter. It was utterly destroyed, with it being split in half. Several corpses in various states of mutilation rested near the wreckage.
Devrons eyes went wide. Where was the Captain?
The monster quickly sprinted towards the wreckage and jumped inside. There were more bodies on the inside of the wreck, he couldn't find a single living soul.
As he excited the helicopter, he spotted the body of Betson slumped up against a tree with a piece of shrapnel impaled through his chest.
And a few feet from the corpse was Lindsey. Devron quickly ran over to her. She, thankfully was alive and coughing and sputtering on the ground.
She had a large gash on her right knee cap which was drooling blood which pooled onto the grass below. She turned to see him and let out a huge sigh of relief.
"D-Devron...thank go-" she was cut off by another spree of coughing fits.
Devron knelt beside her and analyzed her condition. Besides her leg, she was bruised all over but that was it.
"D-did anyone else make it?" She asked.
Devron shook his head. "Unfortunately no, I suggest you save your strength Captain, I must get you to a secure location to fix your wounds. I'm sure enemy forces will pounce this crash site any minute now." Devron explained, and picked her up bridal style. The human held onto him for dear life, shivering from the freezing rain which bombarded her injured body.
He did a 180 of the woods, attempting to decide where to go. He stopped north of the wreckage, recalling seeing a cave they had passed earlier.
Devron began a sprint through the woods, his speed far exceeding any humans. Devron continued to sprint for a few minutes until he reached the mouth of a large cave.
Devron slowed into a walk and made his way to the mouth of the cave.
"That would have been a twenty minute helicopter ride."
Devron looked down to Lindsey who stared up at him with awe. Devron halted his walk. He had just sprinted a 20 minute helicopter ride in 5 minutes.
Not even he knew the limit to his own abilities.
"You...are a lot stronger than a thought." Lindsey said softly.
Devron nodded and continued his walk. "I can understand why command wants me so much. Not even I know my own limit."
The two entered the cave to find themselves in a small circular room with a low ceiling.
Devron sat the captain down against the wall, being careful of her bad leg.
Lindsey sighed in relief and looked up at him. "So...what now?"
Devron shrugged. "You are in command of me, I don't know."
Lindsey nodded than cried out in pain as she attempted to move her leg. Devron knelt down beside her. "Please, try not to move it, I will attempt to heal the wound."
Lindsey nodded and gritted her teeth. Devrons left palm sparked in a small flame.
"This is going to hurt." Devron stated, before he pressed his palm to her leg.
Lindsey let out a loud scream of pain. Devron quickly covered her mouth with his other hand to stifle the noise.
"Quiet!" He exclaimed in a whisper.
The captain gripped onto his right shoulder for comfort as the pain hit her.
Devron released both his hands. Lindsey gasped and bit down hard on her lip.
Devron looked down at the wound to see it was cauterized. He breathed a deep sigh of relief and slumped next to her, shivering slightly from the coldness of the rain.
"T-thank you...once again." Lindsey said with a small smile.
Devron nodded. "I hate the fucking rain."
Lindsey laughed while holding her side.
"W-we have a lot in common it seems. You seem unfazed by everything but a little bit of rain is enough to stop you?
Devron scowled and shook his head. "A little bit? It was an artillery bombardment out there!"
Lindsey laughed some more. "Yeah, you are right. But I don't mind a little bit of rain here and there."
Devron sighed. "I guess. The rest of my kind would kill to see the rain..."
Lindsey's grin fell. The two fell into an awkward silence.
It was broken by Lindsey who began to cry.
Devron turned to her into confusion.
"O-oh god...they are all dead..." She quietly said as she sobbed.
"I-I served with those boys for years and they are all..." Lindsey trailed off and grabbed a hold of Devrons side, sobbing into his armor.
Devron was taken a back now that her shell shock had set in. He knew it was going to happen but he had other things to worry about.
Devron sighed and was going to try and pull her off but...he didn't. He didn't want to, he felt a sense of comfort in her presence that only his parents provided. Devron returned her embrace, even lightly using his fire magic to warm the two of them.
"I...I haven't lost any of my friends in awhile..." Lindsey said, her speech slightly muffled by her face buried into the monsters side.
Lindsey then unexpectedly chuckled. "When I first met you, I was fascinated by you. I uh...have always had a love for animals. Especially cats."
"I don't think I've ever seen a cat in person." Devron replied.
Lindsey lifted her head from his side to look at him. "I've always felt bad for you monsters. You have been locked in a fucking mountain for hundreds of years..."
Devron smiled. "I should probably thank you and your unit for actually being kind to me."
Devron paused, then continued. "I haven't gave a shit about anyone before but myself. But...you and Maxwell have grown on me. Maybe because you are the first humans to not hate me or to want to use me." Devron explained.
"W...why do you care anyways?" Devron asked.
Lindsey sighed. "Devron, when me and Maxwell found out our government has an entire race held prisoner we weren't thrilled. Sure...you aren't humans, but you are still people. I care because the situation you're in is fucked up. You are being forced to fight for a race that imprisoned your entire kind."
Devron eyed the women with confusion. "Then...why do you fight for them?"
The question seemed to catch the Captain off guard for a second. She thought for a seconds, before providing him with an answer.
"There are a few reasons..."
"We have time." Devron said.
Lindsey shifted her self and held onto him tighter. "Well...the first reason, the pay." She finished the sentence with a sly grin.
Devron chuckled.
"Yeah, being a Captain of a classified division of the U.S military pays handsomely. Secondly, I actually do respect my country. Sure, it is pretty shitty, but it's better than our enemies..."
"And the third?" Devron asked.
Lindsey looked up at him a sad expression on her face.
"A-are you aware of what the Iraq war was?"
Devron nodded. "Very little, but yes I am aware that the war existed."
"My...father served in the Iraq war and got himself killed in action..."
Devron held her a bit tighter. "I'm sorry..."
The captain shook her head. "Don't be, it happened so long...I hardly knew him anyways."
Lindsey paused for a brief period of time, collecting her thoughts.
"So, growing up with a single mother I recklessly decided to make her proud by going to war but instead of dying, I'd come back." Lindsey explained.
Devron stared down at her in confusion. "So you are willingly risking your life just to make your mother proud?"
Lindsey shook her head. "Nah, thats what my ignorant mind thought. It was more about the money. You see, growing up my mother struggled to support me. I hardly got through high school. I get a fuck ton of money here, I give most of it to my mother who needs it more."
Devron was surprised. "You are risking your life to help your mother..." Devron said, more to himself than anyone else.
"Yeah..." Lindsey said with a yawn and buried herself in his chest, preparing to fall asleep.
Devron raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn't we figure out how we are going to get back to base?"
Lindsey smiled. "Not now; rest."
Devron sighed. "I'm not a bed..."
"You might as well be." Lindsey replied.
Devron sighed with a small smile and rested his head against the cave wall, taking in the moment. She was right, he should rest. This would be one of the few times he would be able to.
Devron shivered as Lindsey ran a hand through his neck fur. He opened his eyes and looked down to see the women caressing his neck.
Devron tried to hold back a purr but ended up letting out the loud sound. Lindsey smiled and sat up to face him.
"Wait."
Devron heard something coming from the outside.
"What is I-" Devron held a hand up to silence her and listened.
He soon figured out what it was. Footsteps, and several of them heading to the mouth of the cave.
Lindsey heard it as well because she got off his lap and pulled her side arm. Devron jumped up in an instant and motioned to the side of the cave entrance.
Devron and Lindsey each took position on one side of the cave entrance. They could hear the footsteps coming closer and people talking in a language that clearly wasn't English.
Lindsey raised her gun forward, waiting for the enemy to appear.
Lindsey pulled the trigger as the first Iranian commando entered the cave, his brains going everywhere.
Devron let out a growl and grabbed an Iranian Commando's head from behind. He crushed the head into a pulp and threw the body into a group of soldiers than began to open fire, their bullets bouncing off Devrons armor.
The thrown body knocked down a commando and caused a few others to take a few steps back.
Lindsey fired a few rounds into the distracted group of soldiers, killing one and injuring another.
The injured one, clutched his bleeding arm only for him to be stabbed in the chest by Devrons claws.
More commandos poured into the cave and caused the duo to move backwards into the cave and move onto the defensive.
Lindsey found cover behind a small boulder and emptied the last of her magazine into a soldier rushing her cover.
She got rid of the empty mag and threw in a fresh one, aiming back over the boulder to see Devron use his claws to cut two soldiers in half simultaneously.
She smiled at the display. He wouldn't stop impressing her.
Her smile dropped immediately as three more soldiers entered. Two of them were basic commandos, and the third was much taller, bigger and possessed much higher quality armor than the rest of the soldiers. He was covered head to toe in bullet proof armor, complete with a chain gun.
"DEVRON WATCH OUT!" Lindsey shouted and quickly dropped the two Commandos with well placed shots.
Devron turned to charge the Juggernaut, who was spinning up the chain gun. A flurry of bullets flew into Devron. Although not physically harming him, the force of the bullets were enough to cause him to fly into the cave wall.
Lindsey emptied the rest of her magazine into the armored soldier. Of course, the bullets simply bounced off. However, they provided a distraction and allowed Devron to recover.
Devron stood up as the juggernaut began to turn its weapon on the captain. A large fireball began to form in both of Devrons hands. Once it grew into the size of a basketball, Devron released the projectile, sending it soaring towards the armored soldier.
The projectile struck the soldier in the chest plate, causing it to stumble. However, it didn't just hit its target. It went straight through the armor, just inches from the heart.
The juggernaut seemed to recover, gaining its footing back and seeming to ready its weapon. But the weapon was dropped and the juggernaut fell to the ground, dead.
Devron turned to Lindsey, giving her a sly smirk. "Now I'm impressed.."
Lindsey snorted and laughed. However it was cut short as she fell to the ground suddenly.
Devron rushed to her side to see her clutching her leg.
"Shit! It's my leg, it hurt like hell using it in the firefight." Lindsey explained.
Devron nodded, picking her up once more. "Our position has been compromised, we must get back to base."
"Hold on." Lindsey protested. "We don't even know where the base is!"
Devron shook his head. "We know the general direction. We either follow that general direction and hope we find the base or stay here and die."
Lindsey sighed. "Yeah, you are right. There will probably be a whole division up our ass in a few minutes." Lindsey said with a smirk , her sense of humor still intact
Devron chuckled and made his way out of the cave, stepping over the bodies of the slain Iranian soldiers. Rain still rapidly poured down onto the earth, fogging up the twos surroundings which limited visibility.
Devron growled in slight frustration and he attempted to recall the direction of the base.
"You know where we are going right?" Lindsey asked.
Devron looked down at her and nodded. He looked up and picked a direction. He was sure this was the right direction.
He began to jog in the direction. He would have sprinted at full speed but he didn't want to possibly be heard or spotted by any hostiles.
"When was the last time you felt any form of affection?"
The sudden question caused Devron to stop in his tracks.
"What?" Devron asked in confusion.
"Well...back in the cave you had a stupid grin on your face the whole time. No ones given you affection in awhile have they?"
Devron sighed. "I-it's been over a decade, almost two I believe since my parents were murdered..."
Lindsey frowned.
"They were the only ones that gave me affection...I guess just a feeling anything similar to that brought me back."
Devron sighed.
"We need to keep moving."
Devron resumed his jog, increasing his pace a bit.
Lindsey was still frowning. She was starting to understand the militaries favorite secret weapons personality and emotions. He had a bottle of emotions crammed inside of him. A bottle he refused to open. Why? Many possible reasons.
He didn't want to make the humans think he was weak by showing his emotions. Another possibility is that dwelling on his emotions and the past will affect his missions and combat effectiveness. Which unfortunately the captain could see as true.
She felt bad for him. He was stuck in the U.S military for life. Fighting pointless wars, receiving no credit for his achievements.
As Devron jogged through the forest, his thoughts swelled on the Sergeants last words. What was the catch? He stopped jogging and let out a sigh.
"Devron?" Lindsey asked. She looked up at him to see him staring down at her.
"Captain..."
"Yes?"
Devron turned around, as if making sure no one was listening.
"I have a few questions for you. I know you might not be allowed to answer them, but I need to know the answers to my questions. Can you promise me you'll answer all my questions?"
Lindsey hesitantly nodded, she didn't know what he would ask but assumed she'd be able to answer.
Devron sighed. "Before the Sergeant was killed, he let me in on some...classified information."
Lindsey's eyes went wide. Devron began a slow walk through the woods.
"W-what did he tell you?"
Devron chuckled. "Well, apparently I'm not just a useless killing machine. He explained to me how the government wants to gain my trust by being kind to me, then freeing the monsters and giving them environmental jobs."
Devron paused and looked down at the captain who was smiling at him.
"He explained however, that there was a catch. What's the catch?"
Lindsey's smile dropped immediately, and she turned away from him. Well, as away from him as she could while being carried by him.
She stayed silent and Devron narrowed his brows.
"Lindsey...what's the catch."
Lindsey shook her head. "I can't tell you."
Devron let out a low growl and Lindsey winced.
"Listen, you promised to tell me. Y...you are one of the only humans I trust. If you won't tell me, I'm sure Maxwell will."
Lindsey let out a sigh. "Yeah...he would."
She looked away from him. "Keep walking, I'll explain."
Devron obliging, resumed his walk.
"Devron...so far, thanks to your efforts, you soon will have single handily won us the war."
Devron stopped. "What?"
Lindsey smiled. "You were implemented in order to do nearly suicidal mission or missions important to the war effort." Lindsey explained.
"You just killed the Iranians general of the army. The Iranians command structure will now collapse...because of you."
Lindsey's smile slowly fell as she continued. "The government has always planned to have more elite soldiers that are monsters..."
Lindsey stopped and looked up as Devron. She couldn't see his expression due to his mask but she assumed he was deep in thought.
"It was simply a thought at first. However with the success you have had, the government is already working on capturing more monsters. Essentially, they want more killing machines to do their dirty work for them. I-I'm sorry you had to find out this way."
Devron stayed still for a second, not saying a word. Then all of a sudden, he began a sprint through the woods without warning.
"D-Devron?!"
He ignored her as he made his way towards the base.
Devron wasn't sure how to feel. Betrayed, angry, calm, he didn't know. For one, he felt betrayed after all the Sergeant had explained. But another side of him wasn't surprised and was simply disappointed. However he felt a burning rage slowly engulfing him. This rage wasn't directed at the U.S government, but the Iranians. If they hadn't started a war, then there would be no need to capture monsters to use as weapons. So, using this analogy to justify the United States actions, his rage grew. He wanted to desperately to tear this country apart, town by town, city by city. He would gladly help quell the problem that caused the situation he and others would be in.
"DEVRON!"
Devron stopped and looked down at Lindsey. She had a concerned expression on her face.
"D-Devron...you've been running for an hour."
Devron comprehended those words and soon felt a mild sense of fatigue.
Holy shit. He had been so deep in thought that he had mindlessly sprinted through the woods for an hour.
"Are you...okay?" Lindsey asked.
Devron let out a sigh and set Lindsey down by a nearby tree. The cat plopped down across from her and ripped of his mask.
Lindsey's gaze shot to his face. She hadn't seen it in awhile, and it was a refreshing sight.
"I...I shouldn't be surprised." Devron spoke quietly.
Lindsey frowned. "Please...don't try anything stupid."
Devron snorted. "I wasn't planning on doing such a thing. I'm not angry at the Americans, I'm mad at our opposition."
Lindsey's eyes went wide. "What?"
Devron chuckled. "If those assholes didn't start this fucking war, I wouldn't be in this situation. The government wouldn't need me or any other monsters."
Lindsey frowned. "Come here." She motioned with a hand for him to sit next to her.
He obliged and collapsed onto the tree next to her.
"Devron, this war isn't black and white. It's not a hundred percent their fault for st-"
Devron let out a low growl. "You are sympathizing with a savage group of people."
Lindsey gasped.
"They are barbarians, and cannot be trusted with their own weapons and technology. Sure the U.S has flaws, but we are responsible to helping countries such as these."
Lindsey turned away from him. A tear forming in her eyes. She wiped them away and rested her head of the monsters shoulder.
She tried her best not to breakdown. But it was hard knowing how hard he had been brainwashed by the U.S government. He actually believed the things he said, and had a hatred for the Iranians. Lindsey had thought he didn't give that much of a shit about the politics of the war. I guess the little he did care were these thoughts.
"Lindsey, a-are you okay?" Devron asked, his furious demeanor changing in an instant to a more calm one.
"Yeah, I'm fine...just tired."
Devron pulled an arm around her. "I'm sorry I yelled..."
Lindsey hummed and smiled. "Don't be, I shouldn't have said anything."
They sat there for some time in the pouring rain, both in deep thought.
Lindsey lifted her head from Devrons shoulder and looked at him. "You ran pretty fast, honestly you might have ran as fast as a helicopter. We should be really close to the base."
Without another word, Devron stood up and picked the captain back up and continue running.
After ten minutes of running, a distinct shape came into few. Devron slowed his sprint into a jog and jogged up to the front gate.
The gate was guarded by a small squad of soldiers who turned their focus to him and the captain as he neared them.
"Get this gate open!" One of the soldiers shouted as Devron neared.
The gate began to open and Devron slipped through a small opening. Devron panted and looked around until he saw a man jogging towards them.
The man was a little on the older side, with a set of grey hair on his head. His uniform was adorned with metals, significantly his high rank within the service.
He was a Lieutenant Colonel who was in charge of the Battalion at this base.
He approached Devron followed by two men.
Devron stood at attention. "Sir, the Captain here needs a medic."
The mans eyes went wide. He looked down at the Captain in Devrons arms. He then turned to the two soldiers at his side. "Get this soldier to one of the medical tents."
Devron gave the woman to the two men who dashed towards the medical tents.
The monster let out an audible sigh of relief. He had succeeded in saving the Captain.
He turned back to the Lieutenant Colonel and saluted.
"Where's the rest of your squad?
"Dead, sir."
The man sighed. "Unfortunate. However I am impressed and thankful you brought the captain back safe and sound."
Devron nodded. "Thank you."
"Follow me, we have some things to discuss." The man said and began to walk towards a building situated in the middle of the base.
Devron followed the man into the building where they sat themselves in a war room.
The Lieutenant Colonel looked at Devron. The monster was soaked and seemed irritated by it.
"You don't like the rain do you?" The man asked.
Devron shook his head.
The man chucked. "Luckily the rain should lift by the morning. Speaking of the morning..." the man trailed off, drumming his fingers on the table.
"Our outposts and checkpoints leading up to this base have been destroyed. A large Battalion are approaching this base and should be here early next morning. We've set up a defense about a klick north from here, but we don't know how long we will be able to hold off. We are going to put you on the frontline of the defense."
Devron nodded, accepting the officers willingness to throw Devrons life at the enemy.
"Anyways, get some rest...you'll need it."
Devron nodded, standing up with a salute and walking out of the building.
He scowled as he stepped back foot in the pouring rain. He took a left and made his way to Lindsey's tent.
Opening the flaps, he saw Lindsey sitting down on a cot, with her leg bandaged up.
She smiled once she saw him. "You came to see me." She stated.
Devron nodded. "I needed to make sure you were okay."
Lindsey's smile widened. "Aww. Well, I'm alive. And apparently I'll be Combat ready by tomorrow."
"That is most fortunate..."
Lindsey cocked her head to the left. "Well kitten I don't believe I thanked you for literally saving my life."
Devron perked up. "I...didn't do much...and you did."
Lindsey scoffed. "Bullshit, you saved me from the crash, you healed my wound then you helped me fight off the Iranian Commandos, then you got me back here. You've done enough for a medal as far as I'm concerned. And well, I can thank you more than once."
Devron gave a small grin. "As far as your concerned."
Lindsey glared at him. "You have to stop putting yourself down. The things you are doing here, are helping to save lives Devron. You literally changed the world today with the death of that General. Think of what more you could do." Lindsey explained.
Devron looked down at the tent floor and debated what she had said. Yeah, she was right. But he was a weapon, no a killing machine. That was his purpose. He shouldn't get acknowledgement for his good deeds. Well, at least not yet.
"C'mere." Lindsey said.
Devron looked up at the Captain; obeying, and moving himself so he was sitting next to her. Lindsey enveloped him in her arms, hugging him tightly around chest. Devron happily returned the embrace.
"I'm proud of you...so is Maxwell and I'm sure even the soldiers at this base. You are more than a killing machine."
Devron whined, rubbing his chin against the top of her head. "I wish you were right..."
Lindsey sighed. "Like I said, you gotta stop putting yourself down. Drop the negative attitude."
Devron sighed and smiled, running his hand through the woman's hair.
Devrons eyes went wide as the captain placed her lips against his neck. He relaxed as she continued to plant kisses up his neck and eventually his face. She tore her face away from his cheek are stared as his red face. In this moment he was no longer the tough, battle hardened monster and was a scared, embarrassed child that had been caught doing something he shouldn't have been.
Lindsey smashed her lips against his much to the monsters surprise. He had never kissed anyone before and he quite enjoyed the experience. He seemingly enjoyed the experience so much that the two found themselves on the floor of the tent, Lindsey ripping off her shirt while she sat on his lap.
The rest can be depicted by the imagination.
...
The world was dark, empty and devoid of life. Devron opened his eyes to the same dark emptiness that had accompanied him when his eyes were shut.
He growled in a annoyance. He was in the void again.
"WHERE ARE YOU!?" Devron shouted into the abyss, his word being swallowed by it.
"Turn around."
Devron whipped around, only to be face to face with Gaster. He took a few cautious steps backwards and stared Gaster down.
"What do you want from me?"
Gaster chuckled. "Did you forget...I am to teach you how to harness the inner abilities of your soul."
Devron rolled his eyes.
Gaster took a step forward.
"The soul of F.E.A.R is powered by the enemies fear you see. The stronger the fear in an opponent, the stronger your soul will be. However, this does not affect any of your physical strengths."
Devron blinked, taking in the explanation.
"So...if I fought an opponent of equal skill, my soul would be weaker?"
Gaster shook his head. "That's not how it works. Your soul gets stronger every time to absorb the fear from someone's soul. In order to do that you need to kill. So, let's say you killed one million humans, than fought an opponent of equal skill, you'd win. However, it is a very slow increase in power. From the amount of kills you have gained, your power increase shall be minimal."
Devron scratched his chin. "You said the power increase would not affect my physical strengths...how does it affect my soul?"
Gaster nodded. "Well, there are many ways the power increase will affect your soul. There are many quality of life changes such as you won't fatigue as much. But the most important one is that you can practically use your soul as a weapon."
Devron narrowed his eyes, about to speak until Gaster held up a hand.
"Let me finish."
Devron closed his mouth and nodded.
"The soul of F.E.A.R has the ability to separate a small amount of energy from the soul. You could use this energy as a projectile, energy beam, tip your claws in the energy, etc. When you kill someone, you'll absorb the energy from their soul, gaining back more energy than you used."
Devron stood still, stunned by the sudden info dump. The information he just learned was fascinating. He could practically take his soul energy and transfer it into a form of weapon.
A wicked smile grew on the monsters lips. He was eager to use his new abilities. The ideas racing through his head were disgusting and gruesome. He thought of tipping his claws in the energy, and ripping dozens of enemies in half. In another thought, he formed the energy into a spear and threw it into a tank, where it exploded and killed dozens of soldiers.
Gaster chuckled. "I know, the things you can do with those powers are beyond the limits of anything a human army could muster."
Devron grunted in satisfaction. "Is this why the rest of my kind were banished? Because they were too powerful?" Devron asked,
The former royal scientist shook his head. "No. The humans were afraid of the ability that monster had to absorb humans soul. It was more paranoia if anything. Most monsters possess minimal magic." Gaster explained.
Devrons eyes widened. "Does that mean that I-"
Gaster let out a roar of laughter. Devron glared at the former royal scientist.
"No no. You are not the strongest monster. I would say you are up there with the worlds most powerful monsters. However you wouldn't stand a chance against some."
"And these 'some' are?" Devron asked.
"Oh, I'm sure you'll meet them soon. After seeing me, a couple will look...familiar."
Devron was about to question what that meant when all of a sudden, a dozen Iranian soldiers appeared in front of Gaster.
Devron let out a roar and unsheathed his claws.
Gaster stepped forward in front of the soldiers. The said soldiers stood still, not making any indication of life.
As Devron began to realize this, he calmed down; lowering his stance.
Gaster pointed to the dummies. "These are dummies I have constructed based of the enemy you face. Use your new ability on them."
Devron snorted. "And how am I suppose to do that?"
"Well, how do you use the rest of your magic?" Gaster asked.
"I don't have a lot of magic..."
Gaster shook his head. "I did not ask that. I asked you, how do you use your magic."
Devron looked down at his hands. "I just think about what I want to do, and it just happens."
Gaster nodded. "So as I explained, to use your abilities you must extract a small amount of energy from your soul. So think about removing a small amount of energy from
your soul. Not too much however, if you take too much you could lose all your stamina in battle and collapse due to fatigue, which you don't often do."
Devron nodded and closed his eyes.
He saw his soul, pure black and swallowing up
The space around it. He pictured a small hand reaching towards the soul. The hand grabbed onto the right side of the soul, and plucked. The hand grabbed a small, crum sized portion of the soul.
Devron opened his eyes, knowing what he wanted to do. Looking down at his hand, he grinned as his claws were now black in color, and exhibited a black aura, making it obvious the claws were not natural
Devrons head snapped to the dummies and he began to sprint towards them, closing the distance in just a few seconds. He horizontally slashed both of his claws across the first dummies mid section. The body split into two, blood and gore flying into Devrons form. The two halves flew forward and splattered onto the ground. Or, what could be considered the ground.
Devron didn't take any time to admire his work. With his new found feeling of rejuvenation, he turned to the next dummy and plunged his right claw horizontally through the throat. The stab, actually separated the head from the body.
The soldiers suddenly vanished, and reappeared at random locations in front of him. However, this time they raised their weapons and fire.
Devron growled and dashed towards the nearest soldier, bullets bouncing off his armor. Devron channeled more energy into the claws on his feet, and front kicked the dummy in the chest, his foot going through the dummy.
He took the body and threw it towards a group of two soldiers. One of the dummy soldiers dove to the left to avoid the once living projectile. The second one was too slow and was crushed under the weight of the body.
Devron didn't give the remaining dummy time to stand and stomped down on its head, showering his right foot in blood.
Bullets continued to bounce off his body at increased quality. One of them clipped the side of his neck.
Devron growled and turned and roared towards the half dozen soldiers all firing at him.
He ran toward the group. Although the bullets managed to slow him down. He grabbed the first soldiers by the collar and used him
As a shield, running towards another with the corpse and bashing him over the head with it. Dropping the body, Devron finished him
off with a stab to the chest.
A bullet broke through the armor on Devrons chest plate and went straight through. Blood poured from the wound. Devron was shocked for a second. He had never been shot before and the pain from the neck wound was starting to get to him. The two wounds caused him to stumble.
Gasters voice suddenly appeared everywhere. "You can do many more things with your magic besides enhancing your claws. You haven't dealt with these many soldiers on even ground before. If you get in a situation like this on the field, you WILL die."
Devron growled and rapidly shook his head, he was still getting shot at and needed to do something, fast.
Another bullet clipped through his waist and he let out a whine, bitting on his lip to bite back the pain. Pain was something he was going to have to get used to.
Channeling his energy once more, he summoned a large shield shaped like the riot shields he'd seen used by human soldiers.
The shield blocked the incoming bullets. Devron smiled and ran forward towards another soldier with the shield. As he grew near, Devron rammed the shield forward, knocking the dummy back and causing it to stumble. With a smirk, Devron swung the weapon horizontally, striking the dummy in the chest, causing it to do a 360 and fall over, Devron then jumped on the dummies back and stabbed it in the back with his claws.
Devron stood back up and looked to the remaining soldiers. He could do better than this.
The monster threw the shield at a soldier, probably breaking every bone in its body,
He then summoned two balls of energy and flung them towards two soldiers. The two dummies stepped to the right and left to avoid
the projectiles.
Devron then extended the two projectiles into two long beams. The dummies were not able to avoid it now as they were both decapitated.
A large ball of black energy was formed in front of Devron. The bullets that hit it were absorbed, causing it to grow. It eventually grew as large as a small jet. Devron released the projectile into the group of soldiers. Enveloping the remaining soldiers.
Devron smiled, letting out a roar in victory.
"Hm, a bit sloppy at first, but impressive none the less. However, on the field, ground infantry is not all you'll be facing."
Suddenly the bodies vanished and in front of Devron a concrete bunker was suddenly formed. Three dummies with high caliber machine guns sat within its confines.
They opened fire, and Devron flew backwards.
Before any more bullets could hit him he summoned a wall of magic in front of him. The wall was as tall as the bunker. Devron felt a sense of fatigue. He was using too much of his energy like Gaster had warned him. He cut the wall in half, rotating the top half horizontally and shooting it towards the bunker. The projectile rammed through each of the dummies in a mess of blood and gore.
"Impressive, but costly, you did not gain the energy back that you used. Now that you are in a state of semi-fatigue. Let's throw something a bit...extreme at you."
The bunker vanished along with Devrons magic and two tanks along with a truck
Full of soldiers were seen in the distance, hollering towards him.
Devron growled and channeled his energy into a small spear, trying not to use too much of his energy.
He readied himself, and threw he spear towards the truck. The spear struck the driver in the chest. Devron then made the spear into an explosion of energy, killing all the soldiers.
"Smart." Gaster said.
Devron stood still, the tanks stopping. They were readying to fire. But Devron wasn't worried, he had an idea.
The tanks opened fire and Devron quickly used his energy to catch each of the shells in magic. He then turned them around, releasing the magic. The shells struck their respective tanks damaging them, but not destroying them.
The tanks didn't fire again, and instead those inside the tanks climbed out of it. To their surprise, Devron had already run up to the right tank. Killing the pilot with a stab to the stomach.
He then summoned a bullet sized magic projectile and fired it into the gunner who was was running away. The bullet struck the mans head.
A bullet bounced off Devrons damaged armor. The monster whipped his head around to see the pilot and gunner of the other tank were aiming at him with pistols.
With a roar Devron pounced the pilot, crushing him under his weight. Then he channeled his magic into the mans gun, unloading the magazine and using his energy to fire all the bullets straight from the magazine into the gunners body.
"Impressive, a very creative display. I think we are finished for now."
The bodies and vehicles vanished and Gaster appeared before Devron.
"You've caught on quite quickly."
Devron nodded. "It feels like second nature now."
Gaster nodded, turning around.
"Our time here is done, you must be waking now."
Devron blinked. "That was hardly an hour!" He exclaimed.
Gaster turned back around. "Time works differently in the void. A day will pass in a couple hours. 2 weeks in just over a day. Time is short. I've witnessed so many events in just a matter of years."
"Seems like a lonely life." Devron added.
Gaster nodded. "It can be, but I am busy with my own agenda."
Devron asked. "And that is?"
Gaster shook his head. "You must go, you are needed back in reality."
And the world went dark...
