Sasuke was worried. That in itself was not something new. Especially not when his little brother was involved.

But now he was especially worried. A jonin from Sound had been seen lurking around the Uchiha district. Sasuke was convinced that he wanted to prey on his innocent little brother.

So when he saw the man looking rather lecherously in their direction yet again when they met at the marketplace, Uchiha Sasuke marched over and immediately arrested him in full view of everyone.

The jonin smirked at him and opened his mouth, only to get it stuffed with an overly ripe tomato courtesy of a very displeased looking Naruto.

"He looked like he wanted to bite you," Naruto told his brother indignantly. "As if I would allow him to do that, dattebayo!" He huffed in annoyance.

Sasuke smiled and ruffled his hair.

Orochimaru.

They had caught Orochimaru.

Commander Sasuke and Deputy Naruto had arrested one of Konoha's most notorious criminals. The one planning to invade Konoha on top of it.

Ibiki was very pleased with their law enforcement officers. Not even Uchiha Fugaku had done his work as efficiently as his youngest son.

Uchiha Naruto was proving to be rather competent, too.

Yes, Konoha really had a very good law enforcement.

The crime rate had never been so low.

Ibiki would definitely bring it up during their next performance meeting.

Sasuke thought that the Shinobi he met were behaving rather strangely. They were looking at him like he had accomplished something great. One of the senior jonin had actually greeted him with a respectful "Good morning, commander," when he had passed by.

Naruto seemed to have gained some popularity, too. Sasuke watched in displeasure as a young girl offered a box of chocolates to his little brother, blushing rather furiously. Didn't she see that she was making Naruto uncomfortable? It was clear that he had no idea what to do.

Besides, his little brother was way too young to date. There was no way Sasuke would let women get anywhere close to him before he reached the age of at least twenty-five. Maybe thirty was even better.

Sasuke walked over and intercepted the chocolate offer. "Thank you, but we cannot accept gifts while on duty. Now if you would please excuse us, we have a patrol to go on."

Naruto blinked in confusion as Sasuke dragged him off. "Aren't we on a break?"

"No," Sasuke answered briskly, "We are always on duty. Crime never sleeps."

His last sentence was overheard by a passing, very gossipy, chunin belonging to the administrative sector, and soon the entire upper echelon of Konoha's shinobi was once again assured of their Police Commander's impeccable sense of duty.

The sentence 'Crime never sleeps' quickly became the main motto of Konoha's law enforcement, and people all over the village started to praise the diligence and competency of the Uchiha Police Force.

They had never felt safer before.

Sasuke was just finishing his daily morning patrol, when he came across a white-haired man giggling madly while peeking through the window of a woman's bathhouse.

He coughed pointedly to draw the man's attention.

"Go away, boy, you are disturbing my research," the man told him quietly and waved him off without looking in Sasuke's direction.

Sasuke frowned. "Excuse me, sir, are you a pervert?"

The man whirled around and stared indignantly at him. "A pervert, me? I am Super Pervert!"

Sasuke nodded. "I see. I will take this as your confession, then. You are under arrest for public disturbance and indecent behavior. Please come quietly."

"Do you even know how I am, boy?! I am the Great Toad-"

"You can tell me your name at the station," Sasuke interrupted his dramatic display before the man could even get started, "I will need it so I can book you in for tonight."

The man gaped at him. Sasuke thought that he looked like an unattractive fish.

Or a tadpole.

Anko was nearly in stitches when she recounted the tale at the Jonin Standby Station one hour later. "That's two Sannin he's put behind the bars now! Now he just needs Tsunade-sama and he's got himself the full set."

She grinned viciously. "But you gotta love him for locking the snake away!"

The assembled Jonin nodded in agreement.

Uchiha Sasuke's impressive reputation grew even further that night.

An assortment of broken pottery littering the ground in Danzo's underground lair showed the man's clear disapproval over the fact.

It was way past midnight when Sasuke left the police station, intent on catching a few hours of sleep.

He was just passing through the market district when he heard suspicious noises coming from a back alley.

It sounded like a fight. A shinobi fight. Sasuke carefully peeked around the corner and saw the third exam's proctor in a battle with Sound ninja and a single Konoha shinobi.

Deciding that this was falling under external threats and treason, Sasuke immediately notified ANBU.

They arrived just in time to save the proctor from dying.

The Third called an emergency meeting that night.

"Before I begin, I have been told that Hayate's condition is not critical," the Hokage informed the assembled shinobi. "He will make a full recovery."

The air relaxed slightly.

"Thanks to our Police commander's excellent work, Orochimaru and his lieutenants are now in our custody. Once again you have done your village a great service, Uchiha Sasuke. Konoha is really fortunate to have you."

Sasuke bowed slightly. "Thank you, Hokage-sama." He did not really see what the big deal was. He had just protected his brother.

"The only problems that remain now are Suna's involvement and the traitor Yakushi Kab-"

Suddenly the door was thrown open and an unconscious and tied-up Kabuto was thrown into the room.

"I saw this kid trying to climb over the village walls from my cell." Jiraiya closed the door behind him. "I thought it was suspicious, so I broke out and caught him."

Sasuke looked decidedly displeased. "I hope you did not damage anything." He narrowed his eyes at the suddenly sheepish man. "Or did you?"

"We will replace anything my student might have destroyed, "the Hokage cut in, before Sasuke arrested Jiraiya for vandalism, "I believe that he did it to aid in securing a traitor can be considered extenuating circumstances."

Sasuke huffed. "If you say so, Hokage-sama, but I will have to insist on his sixty-day bathhouse ban."

"Of course," the Hokage agreed readily. "Your judgement is just. I will not interfere with it."

Jiraiya groaned in disappointment. "That's just cruel!"

"It is punishment," Sasuke answered plainly, "It is supposed to hurt. Now do you need anything else, Hokage-sama or may I return to my brother? He promised to make me tomato soup."

The Hokage threw him a faintly amused look.

"Your brother?", Jiraiya cut in before his sensei could answer, "What brother?"

"Naruto, of course," Sasuke replied.

Jiraiya stared at him. "Uzumaki Naruto?!"

The room's occupants edged away from him.

Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "Uchiha Naruto," he corrected sharply.

"Sasuke adopted him," the Hokage interjected quickly, "They consider each other brothers."

"So you know Naruto, uh?" Jiraiya eyed Sasuke with interest. "Think you can introduce me to him?"

"No." Sasuke's answer was immediate and resolute. "I am not going to let any perverts close to my brother. Especially not those with a criminal record. You will only dirty his mind."

The assembled shinobi snickered at Jiraiya's flabbergasted look.

"But…I am his godfather!" Jiraiya snapped back. "I am allowed to-"

The room suddenly became freezing cold. "You are what?" Sasuke's voice was dangerously quiet.

The Third threw a worried look at the cupboard containing his favorite reading material. It was starting to ice over. "Meeting dismissed!"

Jiraiya immediately ran out of the room, Sasuke hot on his heels.

Hiruzen sighed in relief when the temperature became normal again.

OMAKE

"Itachi?"

"Yes, Kisame?"

"Is there a reason you stole the Uchiha family records?"

"I am looking for Naruto's name."

"You realize, your brother adopted him, right?"

"Hn."

"Or do you really think that you missed nine months of your mother's pregnancy?"

"…"

"Not to mention his first eight years."

"…"

"Besides, the age difference between him and Sasuke is far too short for them to be brothers."

"Kisame?"

"Yes, Itachi?"

The Uchiha held the page up he had been studying. The name Uchiha Naruto had been scrawled next to Sasuke's and his name.

Kisame looked from the page to Itachi's serious expression and back again. "…You do realize that the name has been added with orange crayon, right?"

"The genealogy is never wrong, " Itachi told him simply.
