"Thanks for agreeing to speak with me." Lance gratefully thanked as he and Leafa casually strolled through the was almost an hour past noon, so the town was beaming with activity.
"Uh,yeah no problem." Leafa was a little surprised that this person she barely knew needed to talk to seemed to have no ill-intent however, so she decided to hear him out."So, what did you want to talk to me about?"
Lance adopted a strange look, one that suggested he was about to ask something that was on his mind for a while."Alright, so…... basically, this is the know how when the ALO transfer update happened, most quests from SAO got transfered over and altered to fit ALO's play style?"
"Yeah,I was there when the castle showed up."Leafa commented, thinking back to that night."Please,go on."
"Great,so there was one quest I never got to finish in SAO,and while my friend, Ezio, was away he actually managed to find said quest for me while we were raiding that dugon.
"Okay,"She replied as she tried to assume the purpose of this conversation.
"Well, he actually took the quest in an attempt to clear didn't succeed, and while at first I was a little upset he tried to beat the quest because he knew I wanted a go at it, I'm glad he tried first because it turns out the quest has been altered from its SAO form. From his description of it, it seems that I currently am not strong enough to beat the Is where you come in."
"In what way?" Leafa asked, not understanding."Is it another group quest where you need specific players to activate it?"
"No,no not like that," He assured her,"I was hoping, and this is gonna sound weird cause I don't know you very well, but I wanted to see if you would be willing…..to train me?"
"Train you?!" Leafa cried, utterly dumbfounded and still then lowered her voice to avoid causing a scene in public."Train you to do what? And what's so great about this one quest?"
Lance looked around quickly to make sure no one was listening in on their conversation, then lowered his voice."The drop for this quest is a sword, but not just any sword….It's called the "Vault of Heaven saber".One of the greatest and unfound swords in the original Sword Art Online."
"No way…." Leafa breathed out after a moment letting the words sink and the other SAO survivors often speculated what the most powerful weapon in the game might be, but since no real information on it was ever found, all anyone had was a few rumors that Argo managed to round until now, any sword anything remotely of this sort was a myth, but now….."One of SAO's greatest swords, this is huge! Why hasn't anyone else found and beat the quest yet?"
"Oh trust me, it's nearly impossible to find!Back when I was in Aincrad, It took me months to find this quest, and even then,I only found a lead to the mission by when I started the mission, I got my ass handed to me. I actually was in the middle of that quest when Kirito beat the game."
"Oh," Leafa replied with some understanding."So you feel a little cheated because Kirtio ruined your chances of getting the sword?"
"What? No! I owe him big time! I was gonna lose that quest, but him beating the game saved me from officially losing and !"
"Oh,um, that's good?" Leafa replied a little shocked at how lightly Lance was taking a near death experience."You almost lost? I've seen you fight, you're amazing!"
"You'd think that right? Well I took on the Legendary Sky Knight for the blade and he beat me to nineteen-percent of my health.I think the reason I lost was because I specialize in fighting off large hordes of enemies,I don't do so well in one-on-one fights.I mean you saw how little help I was in that boss fight."
"Right," Leafa replied thinking back to the group boss did indeed inist fighting the hordes of wasp enemies rather than take on the boss with everyone else."So you want me to help you train for single person combat?"
"Well yes, but that's not the only in the original quest, the player first had to chase the Sky knight around a castle while he rode a they had to chase him while he was on foot to the top floor, only then could you fight however, it seems the quest changed so you still chase him around, but you need to fly because he is riding a dragon now."
"Ah," Leafa responded, now with complete recalled Lance's failed attempt to keep up with the group in the air."So you need help with single person combat, and flying practice?"
"I know it seems a little strange since we barely know each other, but I've seen you fight and fly, you're a natural at both.I can afford to pay you if you want, and I'll help with any quest you decide to take while training me."
"Okay, but I have one question." Leafa requested since one thing was still bothering her."I get asking me to teach you to fly, but why how to fight? I mean I think I'm pretty good, but Asunsa and Kirito are just as good if not plus they were SAO with you so you have a lot of things to talk about. Why not ask them?
"It's like you said, they were in SAO with me." Lance replied, looking a bit embarrassed.``I know this is gonna sound selfish, but they look like the types to try the quest, and since they're far better swordsmen than me, they'll probably beat it on their first try, especially since they can fly better than me.I promise if I fail I'll tell them about the quest so they can have a shot at it, but I just want to for nothing else, then just to prove to myself I can do it."Lance trailed off as he said that last part, no doubt re-living his last attempt at obtaining the sword.A short time later he looked back at Leafa."So, will you do it?"
Leafa thought in silence for a moment, pondering whether or not this was a good there was nothing inherently wrong with helping Lance attempt the quest again, she wondered if she could even do teaching Kirito the basic's ALO,she never really taught anyone anything, not to mention it was mostly due to kirtio's own skills and less to do with her teaching methods that allowed him to master the game so top of that, the process would no doubt be time consuming and people would without a second thought say no viewing this , something about the way Lance spoke about this mission resonated with she never really needed to, she was well aware of the struggle people face when they try and prove something to themselves, her brother was once again a walking example of she wasn't really doing anything important at the that in mind she asked Lance a question."You said you'd help with any quest I took?"
"Any." lance assured her."If we don't take any, I'll pay you or something,I just really could use your help."
"I've never really been a teacher I don't really know how to give constructive criticism."
"Heh, don't worry I can take will you help me?"
A moment of silence passed.``Meet me here tomorrow at 'll head to training grounds from here.
Lance made a face like he'd just won the lottery."Yes Master."
It was Leafa's turn to make a face,"Don't call me that."
"Sorry sensi."
"No."
"Shifu?"
"(Sigh) Just get out of here before I regret helping you."
"Alright,Thanks again,Instructor Leafa."And with that he opened his menu and logged out leaving Leafa alone to wonder if she'd just made a mistake.
If you're wondering why I chose Leafa for this role instead of someone like Asuna or Kirito, it comes down to two , Leafa is my favorite sao girl. Two I like the idea that Kirito's friends are as skilled as he is. In my head cano the power scaling something like this:Asuna= fastest player due to her time in sao, Leafa=Best swordsmen and flyer due to kendo and more time in alo,Kirito=a combo of both aspects, Klein= like Kirtio but a little less skilled, Yuuki=like Kirito but a little better Sinon=best shot and best eyesight, Liz and Silica aren't really in the same grouping but they're around the others in terms of skill.
