Here's Chapter 4 Everybody. We meet Sona, but still no representatives of the Fallen and Angelic factions. I wonder why? Ah I'm kidding I know why but it is just Percy's first day. I think after a week has passed we may just see what happens to Percy when he meets the Angels and Fall Angels. Now the question is which fallen angel will it be, will it be a grunt? An OC? Benemue? Do they already know Percy like Yasaka does? Only time will tell. Well I could tell you but, that would be spoilers. Also next chapter we finally figure out who Shade is so make your gueses. He called himself the lord of time, but that doesn't mean much in the PJO series. I will say if you guess it right all you get is a cookie. It's not hard to figure out with all the hints i've been giving, that's if I didn't already tell you who shade is. Now if you can guess how Shade is different from his counterpart you get a sneak peak at chapter 5 while I work on Chapter 6 because as I've said before, I AM A CHAPTER AHEAD! At the rate I'm going I could be five chapters ahead though. My muse is obsessed with Percy, Shade, and the other characters. I'll give you one hint, what are you never supposed to do if you don't want to create a paradox? What happens to the paradox when it's changed? IF you are part of a paradox, does that mean you cease to exist? These questions revolve around Shade. Also if you can figure out what separates Shade and his counterpart because yes Shade has a counterpart and it's not the person you think it is, they are opposite sides of he same coin. Chapter 4: Starting a new school and learning about Shade's influence on the devils.
Percy slept in most of Sunday. He occasionally got up to grab a snack or something but he just didn't feel that there was much point in getting up. When he was finally fully awake he spent time with his family and learned from Paul about Kuoh Academy. It was previously an all girl's academy, it housed a few influential families, but even Paul didn't know why the skirts were so short. Percy asked what the gym uniform was and Paul said "For the girls bloomers, for the guys gym shorts." Percy wondered what bloomers were and decided he'd find out at gym on Monday. He stretched and yawned loudly then asked his mom if she was making boxed lunches for him and Kunou the next day. Sally said that yes she was but if he preferred he could start getting lunch at the cafeteria.
Percy had chuckled and said he'd never deny himself the chance to eat his mother's cooking. She giggled and kissed his cheek then he played with Andromeda a while. When he asked where Kunou was he was told she'd gone out to explore since it wasn't too dangerous in town. She promised to be back in an hour so Percy waited deciding if she was late he'd go and look for her. After the hour passed Kunou returned home and talked to Percy about her day. That was pretty much Percy's lazy Sunday.
The next day Percy got up early and did his usual routine, then joined Kunou for breakfast dressed in his school uniform. It was a black blazer over a white button up, black slacks, and his classic Adidas running shoes. He had left his shirt unbuttoned showing the blue t shirt he had on underneath, his eyes were covered by a pair of black sunglasses, and his hair was its usual messy look. Kunou said "Looking good Percy. However you know you'll have to take off the sunglasses on school grounds?" Percy nodded and she said "Also we need to speak in Japanese the rest of the day. I know you're a foreigner but it is important to immerse yourself in our culture so you don't look like a complete and utter jerk."
Percy nodded again and said in his accented Japanese "Understood Kunou chan." She nodded humming and he continued in English. "So, ready to head out?'" She nodded with her toast in her mouth and tied her shoes. Percy leaned on the door waiting for her then as she rushed up he opened the door and they left. As soon as they were outside Percy started walking down the street. Kunou walked alongside him eating her toast, then they saw Isane up ahead. She and Kunou were wearing the school's female uniform. Black corset over a white button up, with a black shoulder cape, a red skirt, and knee high white socks over dress shoes. Although both Kunou and Isane chose to forgo the dress shoes in favor of sneakers. Percy nodded to Isane as they approached her and she smiled at him then studied Kunou.
Kunou bowed and said "Hello I am Kyuubi Kunou. You must be the friend Percy san said we'd be meeting today." Isane nodded and bowed back then introduced herself and the three fell into step together with Isane pointing out the fastest way to Kuoh Academy since she'd been going there for the last year, and this was her second. Percy payed close attention with Kunou paying a bit more attention to Percy than the instructions. Suddenly Percy stiffened and Kunou said "Let's go on ahead Isane San, Percy san needs to do something for Blowfis San, his mama. I just remembered that he said we can go ahead at this point and he'll catch up to us."
Percy smiled at Kunou in thanks then stepped back as the two continued on before he entered alley and said "Really. You decide to attack a demigod while I'm around?" The one he was talking to were a pair of Dracanae. He drew riptide and said "I give you this one chance to run. If not I will end you for attacking a demigod. The demigod in question was about eleven so she hadn't been claimed yet, but here eyes were as blue as the sky and her hair was as blonde as the sun. He figured she was a child of Apollo. She was cowering on the ground, and Percy walked up and stood between her and dracanae. The two snake women growled and pulled out a pair of scimitars. He smirked and summed a second sword made of water in his off hand.
The dracanae were surprised. Of course that was because they thought the son of Poseidon only wielded one sword, the blade of Zoe Nightshade, Riptide. However he'd been training and had taught himself to be ambidextrous so he could fight with two swords. It took months of practice but finally he was comfortable revealing just what he could do. He rushed the dracanae who swung their scimitars at him. He blocked them and kicked the left dracanae back while the right swung at his back. He turned and dodged her by a hair then punched her with the pommel of riptide. She shrieked in pain and anger as the other got to her full height glaring at the impudent demigod.
The two tried attacking him together but he blocked both their blades,the water blade hardening with a thin layer of ice along the blade, and Riptide easily stopping the other blade. Percy sighed and said "You know if I was a newbie you guys might be a challenge. I doubt it, but you never know. As it is you are nothing compared to the threats I've faced. Honestly if I wasn't feeling so bad for you and giving you a chance to hit me you stupid snakes wouldn't have even known I was here." Percy wasn't one to gloat usually but he felt that it needed to be said that even compared to the American Dracanae these two were weak. He wondered if monsters got stronger the closer to the heart of Western Civilization they were like the gods did.
This wasn't the land of the gods, so he figured they may be weaker or it could just be something to do with Japan itself. Either way he figured he'd finish off these two and tell the girl to ask her mother about the Greek gods before he caught up with Kunou and Isane. They couldn't be too far as this fight had taken all of two minutes so far not counting the minute or so it took to get to the alley. He quickly beheaded the two snake women saying "Later, I gotta get to school." He turned to the girl and asked in Japanese "You alright?"
The girl nodded and said "Yes I'm fine. Who are you?" Percy smiled slightly, always happy to see his fame wasn't notorious or spread far and wide. He knew many demigods told their parents about him and the Greek gods like to tell their lovers that if their kids needed help they could rely on Perseus Jackson or the hunters of Artemis for maidens, but most of the time they focused on telling them to have their children learn the myths and if necessary be sent to Camp Halfblood, though it was rare for the gods to leave the seat of Western Civilization which was America. Percy figured that Apollo had known he'd be in Japan before he himself did due to being the god of Prophecy so he decided to have a kid on one of his many flings, or he just forgot to use protection and the girl was a byproduct, but he thought Apollo was at least a bit smarter than that. Then again he'd been wrong before.
He said "My name is Percy Jackson. I need to get to school but if you ever need help just use one of these" at this he handed her a pouch full of drachma saying "find or make a rainbow, toss one in, and say 'Oh Iris goddess of the rainbow please show me Percy Jackson,' and she'll put you through to me. I'll try to get to you if you give me your location. Anyway I gotta catch up to my friends so I'll see you around little lady."
She smiled slightly and said "Thank you Jackson san. I'll be sure to ask you for help if I run into any more youkai like those." Percy thought about telling her those were monsters of the Greek pantheon not Youkai but decided it wasn't worth it and bid her farewell then quickly ran to catch up to Kunou and Isane who were talking about what the academy was like. Isane had said she couldn't tell Kunou about the middle school, but she could tell her about what it would be like at the high school in a year if she didn't return to Kyoto rather than staying in Kuoh. Percy caught up and just walked along behind them waiting for them to notice him.
He figured if he was in a game this would be leveling his sneak skill or at least using it, but neither of the girls noticed him for a while. They finally noticed him when they looked around and Isane said "You sure Percy san can catch up?" Kunou started to say she didn't know why he wasn't back yet when they both turned around to check for him and Isane said "AHHH! Percy san don't sneak up on us like that!" Percy chuckled and nodded in understanding then stretched out and popped his back before the girls turned back around he put his arms over their shoulders and hugged them both making them blush and shudder in happiness. Isane thought "His muscles feel so strong. I would love to see his abs and maybe if they're as nice as I think they are dribble chocolate sauce on them and lick it off. Eep I can't believe I just thought that about Percy."
Meanwhile Kunou was thinking "I always feel so safe in Percy's arms. Even just a hug makes it feel like all my troubles are melting away and nothing is going to ever hurt me. I wonder if this is how mama feels whenever she thinks about her past with Percy san. Well his future, but when the heck is he going to even get his power over time?" She shook her head to clear her thoughts and slapped her cheeks then quickly started rushing away from Percy dragging along Isane who shouted "Hey Kyuubi chan stop! I was enjoying the hug! Do you know how rare it is to get hugged by a Greek god in mortal form like Percy? I mean I know he's Greek and everything but he's built like an Adonis!" Kunou sighed and thought "Isane san sure is a pervert. Though she's partly right about Percy being a Greek god, though he's only half god." Percy chuckled at Isane's words and kept his thoughts to himself.
Percy yawned and said in English to Kunou, "I think poor Isane is lost in thoughts of a more perverted nature." Kunou nodded at Percy and Isane glared cause she somewhat understood what the American demigod said. He chuckled and said in Japanese "Sorry Hyoudou san I didn't realize you understood English pretty well." She continued to glare as they walked up to the school gates. It had taken, counting the five minutes Percy had been away to deal with the Dracanae, twenty minutes compared to Percy's estimate of an hour to half an hour from Thursday. When they entered the school grounds a strong wind blew as if to taunt Percy revealing a myriad of colors of panties. He sighed and muttered "It's like I'm in a perverted cartoon." Isane giggled at his words and nodded along while Kunou stared in shock then held her own skirt down and glared at Percy as if saying 'Don't you dare look under my skirt.' He nodded and said "No worries Kunou won't happen."
She nodded and said "Good." That short conversation was in English, but afterward Kunou switched to Japanese and asked Percy "Who are we supposed to meet exactly Percy san?" Percy shrugged and noticed a pair of girls wearing glasses approaching them. He waved at them as he stood with his bag over his shoulder and his hand running through his hair. Kunou studied the girl and muttered to herself "Of course more devils want to approach us." Percy bopped her on the head gently as if to say 'Quiet the supernatural is supposed to be a secret and we have a normal human right here, even if she is perverted.' She sighed and nodded.
Isane chuckled seeing this interaction a little like an interaction between her and Irina her best friend when they were kids. She giggled and said "You two get along so well. Anyway I'll see you later Percy sempai, Kyuubi chan, I gotta get to class and see if my friend Ayaka Kiryuu is waiting for me." Percy waved her farewell then he turned to the approaching devils and put on a brighter smile hiding his hand reaching for Riptide in case they attacked. He didn't think they would but he promised to protect Kunou from anyone, and Rias hadn't said the other devils in town would be friendly toward an outside. Although they looked like no nonsense was taken from anyone, they were greeted by everyone as Kaichou and Fuku Kaichou. Percy memorized the words and slowly released Riptide as he remembered his father telling him the president of the student council was Sona Sitri, Leviathan's little sister.
Percy bowed when they got to him and Kunou and said "Hello Kaichou, Fuku Kaichou, I am Jackson Percy. I'm the new student from America. This is Kunou a junior high student from Kyoto. I think it might be a good idea for us to go to the student council room talk as we both know some things not suitable for the regular populace."
Sona smiled at Percy's politeness, remembering Rias calling him a gentleman. She smiled slightly and said "Yes I believe that would be a good idea. Tsubaki and I shall lead you there if you don't mind following us, then afterward I'll have one of my council members take Miss Kyuubi to her class." Percy nodded and the four of them headed to the student council room. Percy memorized the hallways they passed through then they entered the student council room and Sona asked "Do you prefer English or Japanese when we're in private?"
Percy smiled and said "Either is fine. I can speak and understand Japanese thanks to Lady Yasaka blessing me with a translation spell and teaching me the basics of the language, but I grew up speaking English and reading Ancient Greek. I even know a little Latin, but that comes with being a Greek demigod who spent time among the Romans." Sona blinked wondering what he meant by then Romans as she'd always heard the Greek pantheon had been adopted by Rome. Percy saw her confusion and explained "The Greek gods have two forms. One is their Greek form, the other is their Roman. Some don't change at all but others such as Ares change drastically. Mars is very strict no nonsense for example while Ares is violent and prone to anger." She slowly nodded and thanked him for the info.
He smiled and said "I kind of thought that would be a bit of a peace treaty between the two of us since I know your sister is in charge of information on other pantheons. I didn't give any misinformation but I gave stuff anyone could learn if they look at Greek and Roman myths. I'm a son of Poseidon, and Kunou is a Kyuubi." Kunou nodded and let her ears and tails show as Percy removed the mist from them with a snap.
Sona hummed and said "Why did you come to Japan, Rias said you were supposedly in an arranged marriage with one of the three factions but wasn't sure which and that you could choose, while she was hoping you'd find a way to get her away from her fiance." Percy sighed and nodded then she said "Do you happen to play chess Jackson san?"
Percy grinned and said "Sadly I do not, Kaichou. I'd be willing to learn if you want to teach it but no promises I'll be any good the rules are too static and my ADHD causes me to jump around a lot. I'm a good battlefield commander but a lousy tactician. I usually leave that to the children of Athena and Bellona." He silently wondered how Reyna was doing after mentioning Bellona and wished Annabeth the best with her boyfriend Alex since they'd talked the other day through Iris Messages. He also wondered about the daughter of Apollo he saved this morning and why she was in Japan rather than America unless her mom was Japanese.
Sona said "Why do you rely on the children of Bellona and Athena when it comes to long term strategy?" Percy grinned and shrugged. She sighed and said "Are you worried we'll go to war and attack your fellow Demigods. I sincerely doubt there are enough of them what with how the Greek pantheon is in decline." Percy wondered who said there pantheon was in decline because the number of Demigods was now in the hundreds not counting legacies. If you counted legacies there were over a thousand fighters in the Greek and Roman pantheon's camps. Which was great since the two camps were intermingling and Annabeth had been asked to build a home for Demigods in Camp Halfblood as had been done in New Rome. He was happy for her but felt a little sad they didn't work out.
The two devils studied Percy then turned to Kunou and asked "Miss Kyuubi, why are you in Kuoh when your family normally stays in Tokyo, especially since I hardly see Yasaka Kyuubi letting her daughter out of her sight with the dangers of the world and the problems I have been hearing coming form your faction." Kunou smirked as if she knew something no one else did and Percy sighed then she pointed at Percy. Sona asked "What does Mr. Jackson have to do with your being here?" Tsubaki blinked and said "Kaichou I think she means he is her protector but why would a Greek protect one considered a monster by mortals?"
Percy sighed and said "I promised Lady Yasaka I would look after Kunou chan. My mother loves her so I have even more reason to protect her. Thus if you declare war on the Kyoto faction you declare war on me personally. I don't speak for my pantheon when it comes to this, only myself. I promised the Kyoto faction I would fight for them, but I don't need my pantheon to fight. My powers are strong on Japan as it's an island and the sea is mine to command. So let's not think of taking the Kyuubi's daughter hostage, yeah?" Sona sighed and nodded having had no thoughts of that but realizing how it might look what with her questioning Kunou and mentioning the unrest in the Kyoto faction.
Percy smiled and said "Kaichou no offense was taken, I was just letting you know my stance. Lady Yasaka asked me to protect Kunou and I swore upon the Styx to do so. If I break my promise by not doing it to the best of my ability and she gets injured or kidnapped when I can prevent it my soul is at risk. I will be bound to the river for eternity if I break my oath." Sona blinked surprised that he would admit such a thing then realized he said that it would only happen if he didn't do everything in his power to protect the daughter of Yasaka which he didn't plan to give less than one hundred ten percent so his life was not in danger from a broken promise.
Sona asked "Is an oath on the Styx such a big deal?" Percy nodded and she asked "Could you explain how it is so?" Percy nodded and hummed thinking then snapped and smiled making a ball of water appear. She raised and eyebrow and said "That is interesting magic, as I sense no demonic or angelic energy originating around it nor do I see complex formulas fueling the spell."
Percy said "Sorry just wanted something to show how my power works. It's a godly power. Styx is ruled by the goddess Styx. She enforces the oaths made upon the river which is polluted by broken dreams. Anyway when a god breaks an oath they usually get off pretty easy unless it's like the big three, which are Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades, who swore not to have any more kids after world war two. It didn't work out because Zeus broke the oath by having my cousin Thalia, then my dad and Zeus broke the oath, when I and Jason Thalia's younger brother were born. The only one who never broke his oath was Hades which I respect him for. He had two children before the oath as Hades and one as Pluto. Hades had Bianca and Nico Di Angelo, and Pluto had Hazel Levesque who is now a goddess."
Sona blinked and said "Mortals can become gods?" Percy nodded and stretched then popped his neck and yawned. Sona looked at the time and said "Right I see that is getting close to class time and you both need to be introduced to the school rules. I've heard you live with the new teacher Mr. Blowfis?"
Percy nodded and said "Yeah Paul's my step dad." She nodded in acceptance and he said "Anyway, yes mortals can become gods and goddess if the fates or the Olympian council declare it so. There is also partial immortality through Artemis and the hunters. Most of them are maidens who were hurt that she helped and they have all sworn off the company of men. Anyway back to the matter at hand, Kunou and I need to know the rules of the school you said?" She nodded and he said "Alright, then we need to get to class because I would hate to be late."
He silently wondered if any of the gods were beating themselves up over selling him out, but figured Ares was happy, Apollo probably thought he'd get lucky with some supernatural chicks, Athena had looked crestfallen but had hidden her true emotions behind her mask of knowledge, Aphrodite had said she believed he'd find true love, and Hermes had been excited for him. He didn't really know Demeter and he'd recently angered Dionysus, Hephaestus hadn't been too worried about it, and Hera always believed in marriage. He shook his head banishing such thoughts and muttered "I really am a seaweed brain if I'm getting lost in these thoughts." He realized Sona and Tsubaki were looking at him expectantly and he sheepishly asked "Cold you repeat that?"
Sona sighed and said "I said you share your class with me Jackson san. Thus Tsubaki and I will lead you to our classroom which we share with Rias and Akeno. My bishop Momo can lead Kyuubi san to her class before heading to her own class. Is this acceptable?" He nodded and the four of them got up then headed on their way. When they got to the classroom the teach walked out and smiled at Sona. Sona said "I have brought Jackson san with me sensei."
The teacher said "Thank you Shitori san. You may enter and take your assigned seat. I must speak with Jackson san before he enters that den of wolves." Sona laughed at that and nodded then she and Tsubaki entered the classroom. The teacher turned to Percy and said "Hello Jackson san, I've seen from your test scores and what not that you are behind the rest of my class despite being as old as most of them if not a bit older." Percy nodded humming and met the teacher's eyes trying not to internally wince at the berating he was getting. She continued "I believe I will have you assigned a tutor. Do you already know any of your classmates?" He mentioned he was thinking about joining Rias' club and she said "Excellent Gremory and Himejima san are excellent students. I believe they'll do well tutoring you especially since they already know English."
Percy nodded and stretched then said "Alright sensei. I'll gladly get tutoring from Gremory and Himejima san. Are you going to introduce me to the rest of the class now?" The teacher nodded and entered the room then called for attention. Sona, the class representative and student council president did the traditional rise, bow, sit. Percy entered the room when called and bowed to the class saying "Hello everyone my name is Jackson Percy, I'm eighteen currently and the son of Sally Blowfis and a sailor lost at sea. I'm also the step son of Paul Blowfis. Please take care of me." He rose from the bow and started answering questions until the teacher told him to sit behind Rias.
He sat down and the teacher began the lesson. He tried to pay attention, but it was hard. ADHD was a real bitch for a classroom environment especially when everyone was whispering and pointing at him from time to time. He sighed and muttered "I hate my life." After a while the bell rang and the class went to their next class. Some went to artistic classes while Percy and others went to mathematics. The day just went downhill from there. At lunch he met up with Koneko, Rias, and Akeno, as well as Rias' knight Kiba Yuuto. Kiba introduced himself and Percy said "I now understand what they mean by bishounen." The girls giggled and Kiba kept up his fake smile. Percy saw the pain in his eyes and nodded to himself recognizing it was something Kiba had to deal with as he himself had to deal with his own problems.
At the end of the day the four of them and Kunou met up in the Occult Research Club Room. Percy said "So Akeno, Rias, I have to be tutored to catch up to the rest of the class. It doesn't help I ended up having to miss a year of school by running across the western U.S chased by a pair of Gorgons without my memories. Anyway you guys think you can help me out?"
Rias asked "Why did you not have your memories while being chased by gorgons?" Percy smiled sadly and shrugged. She raised an eyebrow and said "Until I hear the story I will not be tutoring you. Unless you offer something else in exchange?" Percy sighed and turned to Akeno hopefully. Akeno loved the look of despair upon his face so shook her head in the negative. Percy swore and muttered about how devils were evil.
Rias knew he was being playful because he was smiling, but it hurt a little to be called evil by someone who could help her escape her marriage to Riser Phenex. Percy yawned and said in a playful tone, "Fine you forced it out of me." Then went on to explain about the prophecy of seven, the plan of Hera, and more. By the time he was done two hours had passed because everyone asked questions and had him go into more detail than he felt he needed which led to more questions which led to more explanations. By the time he was done he said "That was just my latest adventure. Don't get me started on my first five. My family is fucked up."
Rias had to agree and even said "After all that you consider yourself a regular demigod?" Percy nodded and she said "YOU ARE INSANE!" He laughed and she said "No seriously Percy if that's a normal life for demigods then you are all more insane than nay other pantheon was led to believe. And that was just to deal with Gaia?" Percy nodded she said "What about the other pantheon ending threats such as the titan lord of time?" Percy shuddered at the memory of Kronos and muttered something. No one could hear him and she asked "What was that Percy?"
He smiled sadly and said "Luke took care of him. Hopefully he's rotting in Tartarus as we speak and Luke can go for the Isles of the Blest. That story is longer and more complicated. I refuse to tell it until we know each other better. It shaped me more than anything even Tartarus. Rias sighed but nodded seeing that unlike his other story he wouldn't budge on this one and not willing to anger someone who helped take out mother earth. He yawned and said "Anyway what does the Occult Research Club do?"
Rias smiled and said "The club is more a front for my peerage."
Percy asked "And what exactly is a peerage?"
Rias sighed and started to explain about the three factions and how they were rebuilding their numbers, then talked about how the underworld had changed with the arrival of a man simply known as Shade. Shade had helped the current Satans defeat the old Satans after the death of the original four. He'd also helped the demons move on and lose their hatred allowing them to ascend, at least those that had survived the great war. He had fought in the great war to bring peace not for any one side but true peace. Sadly no one would listen to him at the time because he was too new. When the war went into a ceasefire he approached the devils about suing for peace with the other factions. They argued against him but the new Satans, his students, agreed with him. They fought for the rights of all devils, not just the upper class.
The old Satans faction, were doing horrible things to try and restart the war as well as make a super weapon to eliminate the angels and devils. Shade had been the one to take down all the labs with the help of Ajuka Astaroth now Beelzebub. He taught Serafell Leviathan how to use Ice like and her family's water magic like none before her, she was almost as good as minor gods now. He taught her older brother Sirzechs, Honor, Duty, and Sacrifice. Finally he taught Falbium Glasya-Labolas who was now the Satan Asmodeus, the art of war from a mortal perspective. Hit and run tactics, guerrilla warfare, making the enemy see what wasn't there, and more.
Shade had only fought the most evil of creatures. Demons that had been resurrected, monsters created b the old Satans to slaughter the innocent, Monsters from other pantheons. He fought them all as long as he didn't deal with the actual devils. He refused to raise a hand to either side until one day, he had to. They had captured Serafell and were planning on broadcasting her rape, murder, and dismemberment on television. Shade had become pissed. He had warned them if his people fell in combat there would be no repercussions, but they had used a sneak attack to kidnap Serafell and planed on killing her pregnant mother as well. Serafell had gone nuts unlocking her potential and revealing herself s the first female super devil but it wasn't enough.
They waited till she was exhausted then the descendants of the original Satans came down and told her what would happen to her, and how they would make sure her mother was forced to abort her baby sister before being raped to the point of mental death and being turned into the camp slut. She begged them to stop and just take her instead, but they told her they would be using her as well and that it would finally break the morale of the Anti Satan faction as they were called at the time. However that was when Shade arrived.
He had frozen the fortress and that was the last anyone saw from the broadcast. No one knew what happened in that fortress except that the three members of the anti Satan faction emerged and went to the Sitri home. Shade did something to stop the pregnancy and heal the baby, then told Serafell he couldn't affect things anymore. He said something about breaking the ancient laws. He said he had to leave and he didn't know when he'd be back, but he gathered his four students and his loved ones and told them his true name, as well as when he would come back. He said he wouldn't have his memory the next time they met but that they had to act like they only knew him for who he was at the time not as Shade. He promised when he regained his memories he would do things to change the past and the future. His promise was taken as the word of gods by his followers and he said "Time comes for us all, but what about the master of time? What do you call him? He is not Kronos nor Chronos, he is me.
She finished her story and said "Shade was the master of time, not the primordial or Titan of time. He said that the Greeks would know him sooner than most, and that he wasn't even born back then. So how did he arrive at their time?"
Percy hummed and said "Well if he was a master of time he would have been able to travel through time. He probably left them in the past and returned to the future which was his present. That future could be our present or our future. I've never heard of anyone named Shade in the Greek Pantheon, though I had a man named Shade who helped keep Gabe from hitting my mother or I."
Rias blinked and said "So you knew a Shade, too?" He shook his head and she said "Explain please then."
Percy sighed and said "Shade told my friends Michael and Gabby to look out for me. He asked them to report to him if Gabe did anything. The first time he hit my mom I told Gabby and she said She'd let Shade know. One day a man in a cloak appeared and made Gabe, vanish for lack of a better term. When Gabe came back, he was different. His hair was salt and pepper, his eyes were hollow, and his attitude wasn't as rude. It took a week for Gabe to become nasty once again but he never laid a hand on mom again. He never laid a hand on me either because mom said she'd get Shade herself if he touched me. I don't know how she knew him but she would always smile when I brought him up and say 'He is his father's son.' I asked what she meant and she said 'He's as protective as his father, but he's even more protective of those he considers friends and family. He is loyalty incarnate Percy. He isn't so much a person as a personification, but he has his own darkness. Most people hide or bury their darkness he embraced his and it made him so much stronger. One day I know you'll be just like him."
Rias blinked and said "My mom fought in the war. She even fought against Shade at one point, but he just toyed with her. She fell in love with his strength, appearance, and his attitude. She told me he was mostly carefree, though his head was constantly bowed under the pressure he put on himself. I never understood and my father, he said Shade had given him my mother's hand in marriage but that he would be back for her. So she built my father a harem and the two are more friends than lovers. It was so odd. It was like he knew something. When Sirzech's was born, Shade was named his godfather, the same for Serafell. Shade also in his own way adopted my brother, his two best friends Ajuka and Falbium, and always smiled at Serafell as if he knew what went on in her mind."
She sighed and continued "They said he was all knowing or that he had future knowledge they weren't sure which but he acted like every death weighed him down. I don't know why a man like Shade would be weighed down by death, do you Percy?" Percy nodded and she asked "Could you explain it to me?"
Percy sighed and said "Imagine every death as a drop of water in a bucket. Deaths of friends and family are ten drops to the deaths of enemies which are one. Imagine that every death no matter what kind of creature it is of, it adds to your bucket. If his shoulders were stooped his bucket must have weighed tons. Shade probably had millions of lives in his buckets, friend and foe alike so his soul was tired. I can understand it. I've seen where Greek monsters come from, I've seen them fight each other for nothing more than the idea of food. I know why they act the way they do, and I feel for them. I feel especially for those cursed into monsters. I wish I could help them but that's just my perspective from Tartarus most don't want help. Anyway Rias I think Kunou and I are going to head home. If you want I'll give you, Koneko, and Akeno my number. Kiba I'll give you my number when I get to spend more time with you but after just meeting I can't trust your fake smile."
Kiba blinked and nodded then Percy traded numbers with everyone and Kunou said "Percy, do you think Shade is still watching over you?" Percy shook his head and she asked "Why not?"
He said "1st because I can protect myself. 2nd because I entered the supernatural world. Lastly because I have a feeling Shade knows I need to grow as he did. If my mom is right, Shade faced a lot more than me and grew stronger while I still hide from all the things I've faced. My nightmares make me think someone or something is trying to tell me something but demigod dreams and nightmares are not the same thing, or are they? I think I'll ask Chiron about that."
As Percy and Kunou headed toward the door Rias said "I still want to know more about your Percy, so how about a date this weekend?" Percy chuckled wondering if Riser was really so bad that Rias was really willing to jump into a marriage with him when she'd heard stories of Shade. What Rias refused to mention to anyone was Percy gave off the same feeling her mother described Shade giving off. A feeling of warmth, comfort, and like someone was standing before you shouting to the world 'I WILL PROTEECT THIS PERSON FROM ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! CHALLENGE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK BUT KNOW IF YOU HARM A HAIR ON THEIR HEAD WITHOUT THEM DESERVING IT I WILL DESTROY YOU!' She didn't know why she felt such a way but she did. Maybe it had to do with how he protected Kunou. Or maybe it was just because he was a war hero who had a heart of gold despite killing his friends and people.
What no one knew was that if Shade had his way this world would cease to be and he would have ceased to be as well. After all what need would the world have for Shade if he changed the fate of its champions, helped its villains heal, and finally set in place protectors who would stop all endings but allowed life to continue to flourish, change, and grow. He wouldn't remove evil from the hearts of the world he would just teach them to embrace their darkness and grow from it. Some would be consumed by it and need to be given release but others, others would grow stronger and be able to understand each other even better. Shade wanted a world of understanding then from there he would spread to the universe, to the multiverse, and beyond. However that was a plan that was far in the future as Shade had barely set foot on his journey, and didn't even know who he was nor why he chose his alias at this time.
The things Percy wondered as he and Kunou headed home and met up with Isane were, Who was shade? Why was he so invested in Percy's life? Why would chaos make a third lord of time? Why did he help the devils yet fight all three sides in the war? Then his thoughts turned toward himself. He wondered How did God know him? Why did god give him the power he had? Why was he the love of Chaos? Why was Rias so interested in him? How come the devils took so long to respond to the communique from the gods? He pushed it all too the back of his mind and joined Kunou and Isane in conversation laughing and joking, enjoying life deciding the answers could wait. After all he had life, friends, and a marriage arrangement he really needed to pick the girl he was going to marry for.
Well that little tidbit at the end about Shade was a doozy. If you still can't figure out who he is, I am surprised but I must not have given good enough hints. I EXPECT TO BE HANDING OUT LOTS OF INTERNET COOKIES IN THE REVIEWS! Anyway that said I hope you enjoyed and liked our look at Sona. I always saw Sona as the type to give a child of Athena a run for their money but you'll see more about that when we see her later.
