Heisenberg kept to his part of talking while Zero ate. It was definitely a lot of information he was spewing, and she found herself struggling to keep up. Every time he asked her if he should go into more depth about a certain topic she would encourage him with a nod. This generally one sided conversation continued on for a couple of hours or so, long after Zero had finished eating and downed the last bit of her water.

He talked about how Lady Dimitrescu was a "super-sized bitch" with "brats for children", and how he thought the other two Lords were "weird as fuck". Donna Beneviento was the one cloaked in black. She had created the puppet doll that she would speak through "like a fuckin' creep". Moreau was the grotesque, creature-like man who smelled like fish. Apparently, he preferred to stay "locked up in his clinic trying to kiss ass".

He talked about how Mother Miranda was basically the ring leader of four Lords, him being one of them (when he said this, Zero learned his full name was Karl Heisenberg) and he didn't speak anymore about himself. He said they were merely experiments in Mother Miranda's eyes, that she held no true emotions over them.

Most of all, he talked about how much he hated them. Every last one of them. He went on and on about how he wanted to just "fucking kill them", but he just didn't have enough power to do it yet. He just wanted to be free of them once and for all.

He was on his fourth drink at this point. His words seemed to come a lot more freely now, even though he still appeared in control of his body. She guessed he could hold his alcohol very well.

Then he started talking about Zero.

"You know, when my main man came up to inform me of an outsider, I didn't think I would end up finding anything like you. Even before I saw the Umbrella. You look..." he waved his cigar hand. "-otherworldly. Even for me. Don't think I've ever seen eyes quite like yours."

The heat that would crawl its way up her cheeks was becoming as familiar as her shivers. Why did certain phrases cause her blood to react like this? She attempted to gain control of her body in vain.

She so desperately wanted to know what she looked like, now more than ever.

Heisenberg chuckled and Zero guessed he had taken note of her confusion since he then asked, "Do you even know what you look like?"

When her reply was a quick nod of her head, the sound of metal could be heard in the distance. Suddenly, the door across from her opened up wide, and a disc-like shape entered the room. It flew over to Heisenberg as the door closed once more.

"Take a look for yourself," and with that he handed her a metal encased mirror.

The person she saw was a stranger, completely unfamiliar. This frustrated her. She had expected to be able to remember at least something small with the reveal of her face, but nothing came. Still, she tried harder, now taking in every detail she possibly could of her features.

The skin on her face and neck was just as pale as what she had already seen from her hands and arms. It was round, what one might consider heart shaped. The reddish pink tint she saw around her knuckles was also decorating the circles of her eyes, making her look like she had a light brush of makeup on. The bridge of her nose was straight, the tip as round as a small button. Her lips were average with a sharp Cupid's bow.

She let her gaze trail up from her chin to meet her own eye in the mirror she held. She had saved them for last. The irises of her eyes were the same color as the reddish pink tints around her eyes and knuckles, but paler. It bled into a black color that made her pupils seem larger than they actually were.

The sight unsettled her. They seemed unnatural, but she couldn't recall what they were supposed to look like. She blinked as if they would change once she opened the lids; as if they would turn to some other color, something that looked more normal, but that didn't happen.

Tired of knowing what she looked like, she put the mirror face down in her lap and turned to Heisenberg.

The man was looking away from her now, a strange expression on his face. It was similar to the one he had before he made her get on his back. Having a little more time to examine it this time, she took note of a few emotions. It was almost like he was uncomfortable? A bit of sadness, also? Confusion? At least, that's what all she could gather by the time he caught that she was finally looking at him.

Heisenberg let out a huff and pushed up his glasses, his previous expression gone.

"It's getting late. I think I've told you enough," he murmured, before he downs the rest of his glass and snuffs out his cigar.

Zero would have protested if she could, and it was apparently evident on her face since he held out his hands as if to call her down immediately.

"I'll tell you more tomorrow, but for now you need to get cleaned up, and we both need to get some rest," his hands rose in the air as he stretched. His back cracked. "I'll show you where the restroom is," he yawned.

Heisenberg took her through the door where he had gotten her food and drink, and opened it. Letting her in first, she saw that they were now in a kitchen of sorts. It was relatively clean compared to other rooms. There was a fridge and a stove. A dining table pushed against the far wall. Another door across from the entrance. The floor was tiled, the walls painted grey.

Heisenberg was patient during the small moment Zero took the room in. He leaned against a wall to the right in front of a short hallway. The corners of his mouth were turned up ever so slightly.

When Zero looked over at him to see this, she couldn't help but give him a small smile.

The corners of his mouth faltered for a flash, but only a flash. "The restroom is at the end of this hall. Straight down and to the right. Everything you need should be in there."

She nodded thoughtfully in response as she started to walk around him.

"Do you need me to help you?" he asked in a sudden low voice.

Both the words and his teasing tone made her both shiver and heat up at the same time. She shook her head quickly.

Heisenberg let out a throaty chortle and walked around Zero, giving her a pat on the shoulder as he went. "Just making sure, sweetheart."

Zero didn't turn around to look at him before she walked quickly down the hall. When she came to the door, she swung it open and closed it behind her. Leaning against it, she took in a few breaths she had been holding. Why was he having this effect on her? Why was he acting like that in the first place. His emotions seemed to be all over the place. Why was he acting uncomfortable before? Why did she see a sliver of sadness? It all made no sense to her.

Two sharp knocks at the door made Zero jump, and she opened it an inch to peer out.

Heisenberg was holding a large black shirt and black cotton pants with a drawstring. "Thought you might want something clean to sleep in," he explained as he held the clothes out. She took them as he continued. "When you're done you can crash on the sofa in the main room. I'll be out before you're even done," he then tipped the brim of his hat at her. "See you in the morning"

With that, he turned and walked away.

Zero closed the door and put the clothes on the counter. Trying to find something for her sight to focus on (mostly to gather her emotions) she decided now was the time to view the bathroom.

It was a decent size, with a toilet and a bath/shower combo. The walls and floor were white, but both different shades. There was a tall cabinet that looked as if it were painted the same color as the walls. The paint was chipping. When Zero opened its doors she found towels and washrags. There were also various bars of soap, and toilet paper. There was a mirror at the sink, but she purposefully kept her gaze away from it. Once she felt satisfied with the details of the room, she began the process of getting clean.

Thoughts wandering, she now wished that Heisenberg had told her more of what he thought of her and how she fit in all of this. She couldn't tell what kind of game he was playing, and she knew that if he had kept going then he would have probably told her. At least he would have let on some form of information that would explain his actions.

She ran through all of his expressions she could remember of the day. Maybe there was something he had missed. Now that she thought back on it, she couldn't see him when he was behind her at the meeting. Was that the crucial moment where the change had happened? Before the meeting he was threatening all sorts of "fun", and she had hit the ground hard when she was dropped before the Lords.

Frustrated that she wasn't able to replay that memory from a different point of view, Zero got out of the shower and dried off.

The clothes were baggy, but they would do. When she got back to the sofa she noticed that Heisenberg had placed some pillows on it, and refilled her glass of water. After gulping the whole thing down, Zero unfolded one of the blankets and climbed under it on the sofa.

She didn't exactly want to sleep now. She was afraid she would forget everything. She was afraid that she would wake from the couch with no memory of the day, feeling just as lost as she did before.

Her eyes were heavy now and her warmed muscles were relaxing.

She felt lost, still. So lost.

Then she was lost in sleep.

Notes

I would like to thank everyone for their comments and support. I did not expect to get even a little bit of attention for this fic.

I was hesitant to start writing this for a few reasons. I hadn't published anything online in years, and to be honest with you, I haven't finished watching the game. (I have caught up on both Mark and Corpse's playthroughs, because I cannot bear watching anyone else.) I did watch Heisenberg's scenes though so I could get a better idea of him, and read up on the fandom wiki page.

I'm just really trying to have fun with this though, so if I don't describe something to the T, it's because I just wanna keep going. When I started this I absolutely had no clue where it was going until I was in the middle of the second chapter. And now I can't wait to continue this story, but I want you guys to keep guessing at what you think might happen. I'm enjoying it.

However, I will answer three questions. One I got from AO3 and the other two from Fanfiction. How old is Zero? She is in her early to mid twenties, but I haven't picked her birthday yet, so I don't know her exact age.

Will this be following canon and where does it fit in the timeline? Of RE: Village? Yes? Somewhat? Pretty much? But I have plans to change certain things up. I know there are a few things I already know I am going to change already, and if I wanna change more, then I probably will. And this timeline starts maybe a few weeks before Ethan gets to the village.

I want to thank you all again for the support. It really means a lot to me *cries*
