At the Santalune Gym Entrance
Ash is currently standing in front of the gym about to enter. He took a deep breath and opened the door. They were amazed at all the nice pictures on the walls. Even though Ash was excited for his gym battle, he decided that he could slow down a little and look at the pictures.
"Wow. These are amazing!"
The Kalos Crew nodded. The ANBU were out of sight talking amongst themselves about important things like politics and the current status of the mission.
"He's about to "battle" a gym leader. I doubt he'll win the first time. Personally, I don't care if we stay or not. We can always start Project: Forbidden Arts or Operation: Manhunt. Either way, I think one of us should have a gym battle to see if we can replicate it for the sake of diplomacy. The tour we give isn't exactly the best thing in the world." Said Naruto.
Even though he hardly felt any emotion, he knew that the tour needed less gloom and doom and more happy things like all the places to visit. Especially the memorial. Not only was that area like a shrine to the Leaf ninja, but the last thing they need is to give some poor kid PTSD from all the "interesting" photos.
"I think Fox and I should watch. The rest of you, get started on Project: Forbidden Arts. Unfortunately, the Raikage is getting restless and might do something stupid within the next 10 years. Same with the Tsuchikage. The last thing we need is a 5th World War." Said Sasuke aka Wolf.
Everyone nodded. And with these new regions things could get...messy….
"I agree. Wolf, come with me, the rest of you know what to do."

Gym Battle
The referee was going over the logistics of the battle.
"The battle between Ash, the challenger, and Viola, the gym leader, will now begin. Each side will have 2 pokemon each and the battle is over when one side is unable to battle. Only the challenger is allowed to substitute pokemon."
'Interesting.' Naruto thought.
He was already going over how he thought gym battles should be and where. The where was obvious. Somewhere in the old Orre region. They have yet to figure out a name. The joint hidden village idea never got off the ground, thankfully.
'It could be like the chunin exams but a littles easier. I'll talk to Lord Hokage about that.'
"My lens is always focused on victory no matter what! Surskit, go!"
"My first kalos gym battle. And I'll start off with pikachu"
'Morons'
"Battle begin!"
Ash went first.
"Start off with quick attack!"
"Quick, use protect!"
A blue ½ dome appeared in front of the pokemon and pikachu hit it head on and did no damage.
"Get around it and use Iron Tail!"
Pikachu ran around the pokemon to try and hit it with iron tail. But it missed.
"Stay focused Pikachu. Electro Ball!"
The other pokemon countered with Ice Beam and the ball of electricity exploded. Sending pikachu to the ground.
"This is where things get icy. Use Ice Beam on the field!"
This came as a welcome surprise to the ANBU. Not only was she using her head, but fighting on ice was not fun. It usually included slipping, falling, and then death depending on the mission. Of course, the fact that they must add some sort of personality to their battles is a little annoying.
Pikachu started to slip and then fell.
"Pikachu! Get up quick!"
Pikachu struggled but figured it out
"Our ice battlefield's picture perfect. Now use signal beam!"
"Thunderbolt, quick!"
Both attacks exploded when they connected. But sadly the blast was too much for pikachu and he fell back down on the ice.
"Signal beam!"
By the time pikachu looked up, it was too late and the attack landed and he got knocked out. Of course, everyone else got worried and then concerned when Ash lost. Then again, the ANBU don't care as long as no one dies.
Time skip with ANBU
It was 2 AM in the pokemon center they were all staying at and everyone was asleep. Or at least, most people were. They created a secure line for a video call with the Hokage.
"I got the recording you sent me. Though I'm not exactly impressed by this so-called trainer. That's stuff genin should know. But that's not the point. I'm thinking about creating our gym on the island. It should be set up within the month. That's all. Dismissed!"
They nodded and closed the laptop and went to bed.
The next morning
Ash and ANBU left Santalune City and started to go through a forest to get to Cyllage City when they noticed an observatory just ahead of them. Clemont tried to explain what happens inside an observatory but Ash didn't quite get it. But then the bushes started to move and Team Rocket's meowth stumbled right out of it.
"Meowth?! What happened?!"
Ash ran up to him and picked him up. Clemont acted second.
"Meowth's hurt! We need first aid!"
Clemont tried to run up to him but Fox beat him to it.
"He'll be fine. Slug. The basics and a chakra pill should be enough."
Ash, in a rare moment of genius, asked what that would do.
"Is that a good idea? What will that do to a pokemon?"
Slug aka Sakura answered his question.
"Worst case, his body rejects it and he'll have a fever for a while and we'll have to try something else. Best case, all his wounds are healed. Medical Chakra is special. And it's condensed into that one pill. And look, he's already better. Now we wait for him to wake up."
20 minutes later
"Twerps!"
Meowth tried to get up but was so tired and dehydrated. Sakura gave him some water. Water from the EN can be one of two things. Clean as an ANBU's room as dirty as a genin's apartment.
"That hit the spot."
Before Meowth could stand up, he found himself pinned to the ground by Dog and Naruto's ANBU addition, chakra-conductive Desert Eagle .50 AE that was loaded with enough wind chakra to kill 4 people.
"Meowth of Team Rocket. We gave you medical attention because it's not every day a criminal literally comes out of the bushes looking like he went through a meat grinder. So start talking." Said Fox coldy.
Meowth started to sweat.
'ANBU! These guys don't joke around. And the world needs to know anyway.'
And so Meowth told them about Madam X and her pokemon and her plan to take over the world. Dog snickered.
"Take over the world? Yeah right. She's no doubt heard about us and the moment she steps on our turf she'll either be shot or captured. Speaking of, I say we kill her pokemon and squeeze whatever we can out of her."
Even though Naruto aka Fox is the captain, he saw no reason not to listen to good suggestions. Even if the Kalos Crew disagreed.
"Kill the pokemon?! You can't do that!" Said Serena.
"You would be right. If we didn't have proof that she wanted to attack first. Also, rule 3 in ANBU. Kill whoever gets in your way." Naruto responded. He wasn't wrong. Even if it seemed cruel to the Kalos Crew. Said Dog.
"And even though Team Rocket is a criminal organization, they are still an entity that even we hesitate to declare open war on. Knowing what we know now, we need to find their hideout. Ash, we'll use your Pikachu as bait. We'll stay out of sight and once Pikachu is under their control, we'll do the rest."
"You won't kill Pikachu will you?"
Naruto said nothing but Dog reassured him.
"Don't worry, we won't."
"We'll keep waiting for them to find us. When they do, pretend to accidentally drop Pikachu. Using Dog's summons, we'll track them. When we arrive, you can either scram or leave the rest to us."
They looked at each other. Ash knew he'd be fine but he would have to look out for the other three. Because the moment they enter the compound, all hell will break loose. So Ash, showing yet another smart moment, made a group decision.
"I'll go with you. And maybe Serena. I think Clemont should stay with Bonnie."
Ash began to whisper to Clemont and Serena.
"She doesn't need to see a river of blood."
They all nodded and Clemont and Bonnie started to make lunch for themselves.
Time skip to when Pikachu is taken
"That's our cue. Dog!" Said Naruto.
"Already on it. Summoning Jutsu! Follow this sent."
At the compound entrance
"Right now, they probably know we're here. So there's no point in being silent. And the entrance is sealed." Said Naruto.
"So how will we get in?"
Dog smirked.
"We knock. And if they don't answer, we let ourselves. Why don't we test out those new blast charges?"
Everyone else said nothing.
The BT-10e4 is a special kind of explosive tag that has an explosion about the size of a fist. However, the blast puts out 10e4 joules of energy. Enough to shatter a bunker wall.
Time skip
"Ready?"
Everyone nodded.
Naruto planted the charge and everyone ran to a safe distance.
'3….2….1…'
There was a loud boom and the doors were blasted off the hinges and even broke through the wall.
"Kill all humans as well as that Malamar!"
The ANBU charged right right in.
Line break
It wasn't long before they came into contact with Malamar.
"Mala. Malamar"
3 gunshots later and malamar came down in a shower of blood. For better or worse, Ash and Serena walked right up to it.
"Thank Arceus, Bonnie didn't see that."
No one said anything after that. The Kalos Crew was not and is not used to dealing with death almost every day.
With Madam X
"How?! How dare they?! ANBU…. This isn't good."
Crash
The doors busted open to reveal ANBU Team Ro and Ash and Serena. Madam X, in her arrogance, told Picachu to attack them. Or at least try. Pikachu launched a thunderbolt at Ash but was stopped when a kunai attracted all the lightning and directed it into the ground.
"Very clever. More pokemon!"
More pokemon came out to attack them. If it was up to the ANBU, they would have turned this place into a slaughterhouse and let it be. But that's not their mission.
"Dog. Subdue!" Ordered Naruto.
Using pure speed to get behind the woman, he tapped on her shoulder.
"Huh?"
"Lights out, bitch."
CRACK
Madam X went flying across the room and into a wall and landed in a very weird way.
"Let's see who you really are."
Dog ripped off her cloak.
"Officer Jenny?!"
"What am I doing here?"
He proceeded to explain what she was doing before she got hypnotized.
Naruto took charge.
"Officer Jenny. You know who we are right?"
"Yeah. Everyone does."
"Then I'm going to ask you to keep the fact that there's a dead pokemon in this building a secret. 90% of the world worships pokemon and they won't take kindly to one being shot 3 times."
"Three times?! Whatever. Yeah."
"ANBU! Fall To Dust!"
"Yes sir!"
Fall To Dust. That's ANBU for, "Let's blow some shit up and hope we don't have to rewrite the map."
1 mile outside
BOOM!
The entire compound exploded and all that was left was rubble and whatever was left the equipment that got left there.
(I'm going to skip the battle chateau. I can't find a good way to write it.)

The next day (Episode: To Catch a Pokemon Smuggler
Ash and co paused because Ash thought he heard what sounded like an engine.
"Could you have imagined it?" Asked Bonnie.
Wolf interrupted.
"No. I heard it too. And depending on who we see, it could be good or bad. So get out of the way."
And not a moment too soon. A motorcycle with a copilot came screaming at them. Followed by Officer Jenny.
"I bet that crazy driver is a wanted criminal." Said Clemont.
"Yeah. But leave the officer to her work. You're trainers so just be ready." Said Slug, crushing their hopes of going after him as they continued walking.
Meanwhile with Officer Jenny
"Stop your vehicle right now!" Yelled the female police officer.
"Like I'll listen to anything you say. Digersbee! Mud shot!" Replied the smuggler.
Officer Jenny did an admiral job of dodging the mud balls but not good enough. Thankfully though, she wasn't hurt.
"Damn. I need to report this to hq."
Back to Ash and co.
The trainers and ANBU heard another engine but not as loud and more controlled. And were surprised when it was officer Jenny looking for the ANBU's help.
"You guys, in the masks. I need your help." Asked Jenny rudely.
"First, try asking nicely. Second, why?" Said Dog.
"...I need help catching that pokemon smuggler…"
Flashback
"I better report to hq."
"Hello Officer 6493. Did you catch the pokemon smuggler?" Asked the other officer Jenny at police hq.
"...No...Can I speak to mother please?" Asked Officer 6493.
"Okay. Here she is."
The reporting Jenny sighed. This would be a long conversation.
"Hello mother. I'm calling because I need assistance with the latest pokemon smuggler."
Mother Jenny was silent for a moment.
"I'm sorry Jenny but I can't spare anyone strong enough for the task. However...I suggest you track down Ash and co. He's currently being guarded by ANBU so they shouldn't be far off..." Replied Mother Jenny.
The young officer knew what her mother and boss was implying. If the ANBU took this off their hands, he would either be captured and sent off to the EN or be killed on sight. She didn't know which one was worse.
"But mother, if you send the ANBU after him, there won't be a pokemon smuggler to catch."
"I know my daughter But we're spread too thin. Good luck." The woman hung up.
End flashback
The ANBU shared a look through their masks.
"We'll do it but you guys are paying for a B-Rank mission. We're ninjas, not a charity organization." Said Slug.
Jenny nodded.
"He went this way." The Officer motioned to follow her but Dog summoned Pakun, an actual dog, to track him down.
"You got him Pakun?" Asked Dog.
"Yup. And he's a dead man."
The ANBU team ran off at speed most pokemon will never be able to match.
Line break
Along the way, they found a cage with a pokemon in it.
"Slug. I think you should stay behind and take this thing to the pokemon center" Said Fox aka Narutp.
Translation: " I want to know their healing capabilities."
She nodded and took the cage with the pokemon and left.
At the Pokemon center with Slug and Ash and co
The Kalos Crew was talking to Nurse Joy when a different officer Jenny grabbed Ash's hand with a rope.
"I've got you. If you have the stolen caterpy, then you must work with Golem. The pokemon agk!" She said as she was put in a headlock by Sakura.
'3...2...1...lights out'
"It's okay. She's just passed out. She'll have a killer headache but that's all. Sorry you had to see that but I needed to end things fast. And you Ms. I don't believe we've met." Said Sakura, still in her slug mask.
Nurse Joy tried to stay calm but couldn't.
"My name is Nurse Joy." She said slowly.
"And you can call me Slug." Replied Sakura.
She put her hand out and the nurse went stiff as a board. She put a hand on Nurse Joy's shoulder.
"It's okay. I'm a field medic. Helping people is what I do." Said Sakura and it seemed to reassure the good nurse.
However, Ash, Clemont, and Serena knew what she really meant.
"I'm not a bad person and if nothing else, we're allies. And my teammates would kill me on sight if they found I hurt or killed a person who dedicated their life to saving people."
There's a saying that there's over a thousand ways to hurt or kill a man but only one way to heal him.
And the first Jenny twin was silent the entire time.
"Cousin. Can I speak to you privately?"
"Of course."
They went outside.
"I was able to solve our smuggler problem…" Said Jenny 1. (The one who hired the ANBU)
"I sense a but coming." Replied Jenny 2. (The new one)
"But I hired ANBU to do it for me when I realized I wasn't strong enough..."
"You what?! Our goal was to subdue and question him, not kill him!" Yelled Jenny 2.
"I know...But I have permission from Mother…"
Jenny 2 sighed.
"At this point, the best we can do is ask them to return the body. While we don't have anything to hide, I don't want anyone, not even a smuggler like him, to end up in a lab somewhere." Said Jenny 2 in a ½ sad, ½ relieved tone.
Meanwhile with the other ANBU.
Using ANBU sign language, Naruto told his team that the bastard was hiding the building and because of the pokemon, they could collapse the building and bury him alive.
"Snap his neck. We need his body mostly intact." Naruto said using sign language.
Getting in was remarkably easy. And so was killing. He didn't know something was wrong until he felt hands on his chin and head. A sickening crack could be heard for miles. Including the pokemon center. With Golem dead, Naruto sealed him in a prisoner scroll and freed all the pokemon.
Time skip 10 mins
The door to the pokemon center opened to reveal the rest of Team Ro.
"Mission Successful. We expect the proper payment within the month." Said Naruto in his Fox mask.
"With respect sir, we would like his body back." Said Jenny 2.
Team Ro shared a look.
"I'm afraid we can't do that. Because your "body" is scattered ashes under a destroyed building." Answered Wolf.
A total lie, but they needed that body.
"I see. You'll have your money on time. Come on cousin. We need to leave, there's nothing we can do." Said Jenny 1 in a defeated tone of voice.
With that, the two Jenny's walked out.
"Sorry about that. Anyway, get some rest. It's getting late."
Everyone nodded.
The next day (Episode: Climbing the walls)
Ash and co had finally arrived in Shallage City. Where Ash just couldn't wait to battle Grant. And it showed when he took off in a random direction.
"The gym isn't that way you moron. It's on that mountain." Said Dog as he lifted Ash by his shirt."
Ash and co entered some kind of mine. They walked through the tunnel that led to this area that held a giant rock wall. That of course, Ash would choose to climb. Although the ANBU could literally jump to the top if they used enough chakra. And lucky for Ash, he didn't have a choice but to climb the wall. And Ash really liked the physical and mental challenge.
"Hey Grant. I made it." Said Ash.
And that was the last thing the ANBU paid attention to as Grant questioned Ash about his state of mind and what he was thinking. And then they took their places on the battlefield and the ref announced that Ach could use as many pokemon as he had while he could only use 2.
His 1st one being Onyx.
"So he's using Onyx. Fokie, I choose you!"
"Forkie."
It was a medium paced battle but not a boring one. Ash one because he was able to counter rock tomb.
In the stands
"Well I'll be. Not bad Ash. Not bad at all. But what will you do next?" Said Dog.
"You really think he's improving?" Asked Serena.
"Yes, I do. I can only think of a handful of genin who would think of that and only chunin and above could actually counter it. He's not a ninja and most likely never will be, but I am doubting his intelligence less and less. Although he's dense as rock, so if you want him, you better go get him." Said Dog.
Serena blushed.
"Is it that obvious?"
"More than you know.
Back to Ash and Grant
Grant's next pokemon was a Tyrunt. A small, but undoubtedly strong pokemon.
"Use rock tomb!"
Ash ordered Froakie to use double team and climb the rock tomb again.
"We'll make it to the top!"
"I wouldn't be too sure about that! Draco-Meteor!"
The attack eliminated all the clones and when it hit the real one, it was a one hit KO.
"Froakie is unable to battle. Tyrunt wins!" Yelled the ref.
Ash sent Fletchling out next. That beetle was fast and quick. Tyrunt's jumping abilities counter any aerial advantage Ash had. And it's dragon tail destroyed all the clones. Fletchling got one hit in but got KO'd soon after. So Ash was forced to use Pikachu.
Ash countered Draco-Meteor by climbing it with iron tail. And when Grant tried to attack with a rock tomb, Pikachu deflected them back and one got stuck in Tyrunts mouth. And then pikachu used thunderbolt on the rock to make it explode for extra damage. Leaving Tyrunt unconscious.
"Tyrunt is unable to battle and the gym leader is out of pokemon. So the match goes to Ash, the challenger!" Yelled the ref as Ash's friends cheered for him, bar the ANBU.
After that, Ash and Grant had a little conversation that landed Ash with the Cliff badge for beating him in a gym battle. And when Ash got the badge he wanted to jump and celebrate but for some reason, he couldn't. But then he got an idea.
"If I can't celebrate like normal, I think I'll get a nice big meal." He said mostly to himself. "Thanks for everything Grant!"
Everyone said their goodbyes and left the gym.
Meanwhile with the 4 kages, champions, and Gary (soon after Ash and co left for Kalos)
There was a 2 hour time difference between the Kalos region and Lightning Country. But it really sucked for Red and Gary because it was currently 6 PM in lightning country and mid morning in Kanto. Ay addressed the group.
"Sorry about the time difference. Depending on what time it is in your region, I suggest you grab some coffee. We'll meet in that tower at Lightning's 11AM."
Everyone else nodded and left.
Line break
With the Champions and Gary
They were all checked in to a rather nice hotel and sat comfortably. The coffee though had much to be desired.
"What is this stuff?!" Asked Gary.
One of Jonin on duty came in.
"That, my friend, is ANBU addition coffee. Tastes like mud but boy does it wake you up. But don't worry about it. The ANBU has been complaining about that stuff for the past 25 years."
They all cringed at that and Diantha took another sip and felt ½ sick, ½ awake at the same time.
"Say what you want about this mud in a cup, but man is it effective."
After a few hours of talking, Red got serious.
"Come on guys, I think we should try to sleep. We have a big day tomorrow and we don't know how these people will react to our presence."
"They treated us well at the summit so they should do the same here." Replied Diantha.
"Yeah. What do you think is going to happen?" Asked Gary.
"I think we'll be given a tour of this village and see what there is to see. And be watched very closely in the process. One of my favorite things to do is play the fool just because you're more likely to get people to slip when they underestimate you. Get some sleep." Replied Alder.
