Man, I need to get better at this. Sorry for the wait guys, Things have just been hectic with covid and everything. And online classes definitely put more stress than i need for writing this. For now, i'm only gonna focus on 3 of my stories, And i'll try to, at the very least, get 1 or 2 chapter out each month until this covid thing dies down. Hopefully that will help me in getting this out faster. But, I do hope that you enjoy this chapter at least. Please enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own fairytail or Darksouls.
The guild was back to bustling as Seriloc walked back out into the main room, Lucy waving as she and Natsu stood next to a board, various jobs posted onto it. he walks up to them, looking over the board. "I'm assuming this is the job board?" Natsu nods. "Yeah. Anything catch your eye?" Seriloc looks over the board, looking at a couple of the jobs. One for removing a curse off a staff, another for destroying a book, and several other odd jobs. He shrugs. "None that really look more important than the others." Natsu laughs. "Yeah. there's a lot to choose from."
Seriloc nods, only to turn as he heard an argument. There was a young boy with dark hair yelling at Makarov. "Why haven't you sent anyone to look for my dad!? It's been a week since he left!" Makarov takes a drink, before sighing. "Your father is a wizard of fairy tail. He can take care of himself. Have a little faith. Now go back home and wait." the boy had tears in his eyes, before punching the guild master, running off crying as Makarov recomposed himself, Mirajane sighing as she bussed a table next to them. "... master might seem heartless, but he's actually quite worried." Seriloc frowns, Lucy looking to where the boy had run off, while Natsu looked angry, Before both of them look to Seriloc as he walked up to Makarov, the old guild master looking up to him. "Something the matter?" Seriloc nods. "You said you wanted to test me, and... If that's the case, let me look for the boy's father." Natsu, Lucy and Makarov all look at Seriloc in surprise, Makarov raising an eyebrow. "What is there for you to gain? what reason?" Seriloc looks to Makarov, the old man's eyes widening as he looked into Seriloc's crystal like eyes, seeing... pain and loss hidden behind them, Seriloc staring at him in confidence. "... No child should ever have to lose a father, or grow up without one. Only when the father passes from old age should it be right." Makarov was taken aback at such... wisdom coming from Seriloc. "That sounds like the wisdom of an old man, yet you don't look a day over 20." Seriloc gives a small chuckle. "I was taught many things by my own father... Where would the boy's father be?"
Makarov nods. "Mount Hakube. It's not too far from town... If this is to be your initiation, then you'll need someone to observe you." He looks around, his eyes landing on the dark haired wizard with no clothes. "Gray!" The wizard, now named Gray, looked over as Makarov nodded. "You follow and observe. This is his initiation, so don't interfere unless needed." Gray sighs. "Really gramps? Babysitting duty?" Gray sighs, putting his clothes back on. "Alright. You better not screw this up, new guy." Seriloc nods. "So, how do we get to this Mount Hakube?"" Gray sighs. "We take a cart to the base of the mountain, and then walk the rest of the way up."
They both head out of the guild, Gray walking ahead while Seriloc was taking note of the path they were taking, making a mental list of where everything was. The town was, as he noted earlier, Bustling with activity. In his time with his father, He would sometimes explore Anor londo, and as the city of the lord of sunlight was, bluntly putting it, a maze of corridors, alleyways and buildings, he developed a habit of making a mental map of everywhere he went as to not get lost. Not that a homeward bone wouldn't do the job of getting him home, but he felt it was better to know the terrain. Gray looked curiously back to Seriloc, eyeing him suspiciously. "So... Judging by that spell you used, Are you an Ice mage or something?" Seriloc shook his head. "As much as my magic resembles it, No. That was not ice. It was crystal." Gray raised an eyebrow. "Crystal maker magic? I've never heard of that one." Seriloc gives a small chuckle. "In a matter of speaking. Crystal is the element I can add to my main form of magic. A... Long lost form of magic. I doubt even the guild master has ever heard of it." Gray looks to him confused. "Which is?" Seriloc smirks. "Isn't that what you're supposed to be observing today?" Gray grumbles as they arrive at a stable, A man standing at the front desk. "What can I do for you, Mages?" Gray sighs. "We need a cart to Mount Hakube." The stable manager blinks. "Oh. Took Macao up there last week. Hasn't come back yet. You going to check on him?" Gray nods, the manager coming around. "I'll take you guys myself. I remember where I dropped him off so you can start your search there."
Seriloc and Gray got into the cart as they started their ride, Seriloc idly watching as the town as they on the dirt road towards the mountain, The town shrinking in the distance as they traveled further out. He turns to Gray, folding his arms. "I can only assume by that earlier question, you are an Ice mage who uses Maker magic?" Gray blinks, before chuckling. "You're sharper than you look. Yeah. I'm a maker mage. I form ice into objects as long as I can Imagine it." Seriloc nods, thinking to himself. "... I see..." He takes a breath, before looking up at the snow covered mountain they were approaching. "So this is Mount Hakub-... where the hell are your clothes?" He directed his gaze back down to Gray, seeing the ice mage now only in his boxers, Gray looking down, before yelling out. "Damn it!" Seriloc deadpans to Gray. "... I'm guessing this is a habit of yours?" Gray sighs. "... Yeah. Had it since I was a kid." Seriloc looks back towards the mountain. "... that stripper comment Natsu made towards you earlier makes a lot more sense now." Gray shoots up. "That fire breathing bastard!" Seriloc raises an eyebrow. "... I can only guess that you both are either rivals or enemies... Or both."
Gray was about to start talking when The cart stopped, winds starting to blow around them as the driver turned around. "This is where i dropped him off. He started going up the mountain from here to find the Vulcans." Seriloc nods, Hopping out of the cart, Grey following after he put his clothes back on. Seriloc pulls out a small pendant, a white cloth wrapped with a band, a talisman attached to it with the the symbol of a sun on it. "Guess I'll be using that trick you taught me after all, Solaire." He holds the pendant as he started to channel a spell into it, before releasing it, seeing a glowing path of light ahead of him, leading up the mountain. Gray sighs. "It's gonna take days to search this whole place." Seriloc looks to Gray, seeing that Gray couldn't see the path, noting that it only worked on himself. "Don't worry. I've got a good intuition." He started to walk up the mountain, his white trench coat flapping as the cold winds intensified, Gray following behind him, looking skeptical. They continued walking up the mountain, Seriloc stopping as they came up to the mouth of a cave. Seriloc pulled the crystal staff out from under his coat, holding it at the ready. "I think this is where the Vulcan has made it's lair." Grey nods. "... How did you find this place?" Seriloc steps in cautiously. "A trick that an old friend told me."
They go inside, Seriloc keeping a cautious eye out as a familiar feeling came upon him. "... We're being watched." Gray nods. "Yeah. I felt it too." Seriloc looks around. "... You're supposed to observe, so let me handle this. I've fought worse. And don't worry..." He steels his eyes. "I learned a long time ago to to not underestimate any opponent." Gray frowns. "... fine, But I'm staying close by." Gray stayed back as Seriloc walked further inside, coming to a more open room, when he turned to the right, a large bolt of blue energy firing into a corner, striking a lurking shadow, causing it to yell in pain as a large ape-like creature nursed it's arm, growling at Seriloc. "Dumb Human! That hurt! Now me kill you!" Seriloc raised an eyebrow. "Well muscled, Brutish, and apparent lack of intelligence beyond basics. This should be a simple task." The Vulcan roared in anger as it ran forward, Looking to slam it's fits on Seriloc when he side stepped, Suddenly disappearing from view as the Vulcan hit the floor of the cave, Yelling out as another bolt hit him from behind, Seriloc kneeling down as if he just came out of a roll. "You're big and you have strength, But that also makes you easy to read, and even easier to dodge." the Vulcan grit it's teeth in rage as it swung around towards Seriloc, who did the same as before, disappearing, before reappearing a few feet back, coming out of a roll as he got up. "You really only think with your fists." He raises his staff towards the Vulcan as energy gathered, the Vulcan starting to look scared as Seriloc stared at it with calm, cold eyes. "You were interesting at first, but certainly weren't enough." A spear made of the energy fired out of the staff, slamming into the Vulcan's chest as he was thrown back into the wall of the ice cave, The Vulcan's eyes rolling back as it fell to the ground, unconscious, Gray walking in with a frown. "... How did you disappear like that?" Seriloc stows his staff away. "I found several rings with magical properties in my home land. One of them makes me vanish while in the act of dodging an attack."
Seriloc then hears steam, turning his head to the source to see the Vulcan shrinking, the white fur falling away to reveal a man wearing a white coat, a black shirt and pants in the Vulcan's place, Raising an eyebrow. "I'm assuming that's the man we're looking for?" Gray's eyes widened as he rushed over, Taking a look at Macao. "Yeah... Luckily that magic you used didn't hurt him too badly." Seriloc nods. "I held back as I wanted to question the Vulcan of Macao's location once it regained consciousness…" he walks over, pulling out a glowing yellow flask. "This should at least wake him up and help him recover to the point of moving." Grey watches cautiously as Seriloc put the flask to Macao's lips, the man drinking a yellow liquid, followed by a yellow dust that entered into him, before groaning as he awakened. "Oh... what the hell hit me?" Seriloc pulled back the flask, stowing it away. "Well, It seems you were possesses by a Vulcan. We came to make sure you were alright." Macao nods. "yeah... That last one jumped me by surprise... took care of the other eighteen." Seriloc nods. "Impressive, But never let your guard down, no matter how weak the enemy seems... For now, Let's get you back to Magnolia. Your son has been worried." Macao's eyes widened. "... How long have I been out?" Seriloc looks to the mouth of the cave. "I believe you've been possessed for about a week." Macao sighs. "Romeo going to kill me when we get back." Seriloc shakes his head. "If he's anything like you, He'll punch you first before hugging you. Come. We should get out of here." Seriloc helps Macao to his feet, the three of them starting to make their way back down the mountain, where the carriage was waiting for them, Macao lying down inside as they rode back to town.
Seriloc watched as the city of Magnolia came back into view, the sun starting to set along the oceans they arrived at the stables, the driver waving goodbye as macao leaned on seriloc for support, walking down the main road, Seeing Romeo sitting on a ledge in front of the guild hall, Macao smiling. "Hey Romeo." Romeo shot up to his feet, seeing his dad. Tears started to build in his eyes as he ran as fast as he could, hugging his father tightly as he cried from relief. "Y-you're okay!" Macao nods, smiling as he hugged his son. "Yeah... And guess what?" Romeo looks up to him as Macao grinned. "You can tell those boys your dad beat eighteen Vulcans all on his own." Romeo's eyes widen as Seriloc smiled, before walking into the guild hall, leaving the father and son to have their moment, Gray following.
They walked into the guild hall, all the members back to their usual buisness, Makarov sitting at the bar with a tankard of ale. Makarov looks over and sees Macao and Romeo through the doors behind Seriloc and Gray. "Job well done, my boy." Seriloc nodded, looking around, noticing that Natsu, happy and Lucy weren't there anymore. Makarov chuckles. "Don't worry. They took another quest. they'll be back in a few days." Seriloc nods. "I believe i should find a place to stay for the night." Makarov smiles. "You can spend the night in the guild hall for now until you get yourself situated." Serilon gives a small bow. "Thank you, guild master." Makarov smirks. "No need to thank me. No, go ahead and enjoy yourself. You did well." Seriloc nods, walking off into the guild hall, Gray staying behind. "... I don't like it, master... He has way too many skills to be a normal person. Not to mention, he has freaking magic rings. Fighting the vulcan, one of them made him invisible whenever he dodged." Makarov nods. "He has many unknowns about him... But his actions here tells that he cares about others. He took on the task of reuniting father and son for no reward... He may be keeping secrets, but as long as those secrets don't harm the guild, He is a member of fairytail." Gray sighs, looking to where Seriloc was, sitting at a table. "... I hope you're right, master..."
There we go. A full chapter with at least 2000 words in it. This was more of a pain than it should have been, But at least it came out in a way that I find acceptable. So seriloc has proved he's no threat, but the amount of versatiliy he already has is making him look suspicious to the others. Also, I didn't want to write out the Everlue arc, as I feel that was more to establish lucy, so that's gonna happen in the background. Next chapter is gonna set up the next story arc, where things will start to get serious, and Seriloc will be forced to show some of what he really is. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Remember, Constructive criticism is always welcome, as long as it doesn't come off as rude, and haters... well, what can I say that hasn't already been said. Don't like, don't read. I'll see you all next time.
