Hello! First, I'd like to thank SPCLjmm for pointing out my mistake - of course it should be Dan not Ben. It's so embarrassing. I always check the text twice before posting but this time I didn't notice it. Sorry. So this is the fourth part and the longest so far. Enjoy reading:)

Chapter 4

Chloe was so engrossed in her thoughts that she hadn't heard a sudden whoosh outside and a soft knock on her door. Standing with her back to the room, she didn't notice the person coming inside and approaching her with caution.

"Detective." He whispered, not wanting to startle her. When he saw she hadn't reacted, he tried again, a little louder this time.

"Chloe."

Weird, she pondered, my thoughts have never seemed so real before. She would swear she heard Lucifer's voice calling her.

"Chloe, look at me." He pleaded with her.

At this moment she realized it may not be her dreaming but reality and she spun around. Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

"Lucifer, is that really you?" She asked, not being sure whether she was imagining things.

"The one and only." He said in his typical manner and spread his arms as if presenting himself.

Chloe didn't wait for any more proofs, she threw herself at him, clinging to his lips as if her life depended on it.

At first, Lucifer was shocked by her sudden reaction, her impact almost knocked them both over but soon he gladly surrendered and kissed her back with the same passion. Her hands roamed over his hair adding to the disheveled look he had. He didn't mind though. He missed her so much, although it was just a couple of hours, he felt her touch had became indispensable for his functioning. Finally, they broke apart, both gasping for air, their foreheads touching. They tried to calm their breaths.

It was Chloe who spoke up first. "Lucifer, I'm so glad you're finally here." She touched his face in a loving way.

His eyes were always fixed on her. "You know, when you vanished just like that from the precinct and I was looking for you at Lux and your penthouse, standing on that balcony alone once more, everything came back to me. I felt so terrified, I dreaded the fact that I might lose you again," she said, closing her eyes, "one way or the other." This came out as a whisper.

At that moment tears came without warning. Lucifer reached out and hugged her to him. All the built up emotions of the last days crushed on her. She started sobbing uncontrollably, wetting his shirt with her tears.

"Shh… it's okay. I'm here now and I'm all yours." He said in a soothing voice.

She chuckled upon hearing it and tightened her arms around him. With this gesture he hissed a little, not being able to hide his injuries anymore. Being a detective, Chloe noticed this immediately. She pulled away a little and examined him closely for the first time. His outfit wasn't in such impeccable condition as it usually was. His eyes didn't have the same light. He looked vulnerable to her.

"Lucifer, what is it? Are you hurt?" She asked. His face showed there was a lot going on.

"It's just my ribs. Nothing grave, I promise." He tried to dismiss it. She squinted her eyes at him, it was evident there was more to it.

"Lucifer, tell me what happened?" She pleaded.

For a moment he hesitated as if considering to what extent he can burden her with his family problems. Finally, he sighed. "Do you want to hear the long or the short-cut version of my family drama?" He asked already knowing what her answer would be.

"No, no short-cuts." Chloe shook her head. "I want to hear the whole story." She told him firmly.

He smiled sadly at her. "I knew you would say that. Okay but you'd better sit down." He took her arm and steered her gently towards the sofa. She settled there but Lucifer didn't join her. He remained standing in front of her and you could tell he didn't know how to begin. Chloe waited patiently, she wanted to give him as much time as he needed. Suddenly, he gazed at her and she realized that deep inside he was more hurt than his ribs.

"During our conversation at the precinct the most unexpected thing happened – time had stopped."

"Was it Amenadiel's doing?" Chloe interrupted him. His brows rose in surprise.

"You know about Amenadiel's powers?" He was sure he hadn't told her about it before.

"Yes, he told me he used to have the power to slow down time when working on the nun's case."

"Well, that was slowing down time and I don't deny that sometimes it came in handy but today at the precinct time stopped completely. You were frozen, as were the rest of the people there."

"But why? I don't understand it." Chloe shook her head, confused.

"Of course, it was everything my evil brother's plan." Lucifer snickered at that. He was getting more agitated and started pacing the floor. "He tapped into Amenadiel's biggest fear and tricked him into thinking that Charlie is mortal. So all of a sudden, my dear brother entirely stopped time to find this out and to protect Charlie. And when I got to him, the cause of this whole ordeal appeared in person."

Upon hearing it, Chloe turned pale. Her heart started to race, her breath visibly shortened.

"Michael was at the precinct?" She whispered in horror. She was right with her feeling. A sense of dread came over her when she thought how he could hurt all the people there.

Lucifer looked at Chloe and noticed the sudden change in her.

"Chloe, are you all right?" He crouched in front of her and stroked her face tenderly.

"Yes." She confirmed. "Sorry but hearing your brother's name doesn't strike any positive feelings. I'm still reliving the time in the cave and if you, Maze and Dan hadn't found me, we might not be speaking now." She sniffled, her voice trembling.

"Hey but you're safe now here with me." He murmured and captured her lips softly.

"Yes, I know." She replied and gave him a small smile. "And speaking of Maze…" she trailed, "when I couldn't find you, I tried to contact her and ask her to help me."

He snickered again. "Well, when it comes to Maze, I wouldn't count on her in this matter."

Chloe gave him a puzzled look. "Why do you say so?"

"Because, my dear…" he stood up, "Maze decided to join the wrong side of the force."

Chloe gasped. She couldn't believe her friend would do something so dreadful after witnessing all the things Michael was capable of doing.

"It's not possible. Maze obviously is impulsive but siding with this twin brother of yours…" She was shaking her head not ready to accept the truth.

"Michael promised to give her a soul if she helped him to kill me." He explained, knowing full well that these words would be hard to accept for his detective. He went on. "So all four of us started fighting, thus my hurting ribs. I imagine what chaos it brought to the precinct."

"Well, that was quite a sight, I must say. Luckily, no one got hurt."

"Yeah, about that… For a moment, Michael tried to kill an officer but… luckily, he failed." By observing his face, Chloe realized that it was Lucifer who saved that man.

"And if that wasn't enough, just as it was getting more interesting, dad decided to stick his holly nose in it and came to separate us." He continued.

"Wait! Your dad – as in…" She paused and pointed up with her finger, completely dumbfounded.

"God." Lucifer finished for her.

"God came to the precinct?" It seemed too much for her.

"Yes, he appeared in all his glory telling us that he didn't like it when we fought."

"Wow." Chloe had no idea what else to say to that.

"Yeah, I mean – why now? Why did he decide to proceed with his heavenly intervention? Why didn't he come earlier when he was needed? It wasn't the first time we were fighting. Or why didn't he appear and prevent Cain from killing Charlotte?"

Chloe felt a pang of overwhelming sadness at their friend's name being mentioned. Once again, Lucifer started walking back and forth and he was becoming more nervous. Chloe felt uneasy, it wasn't her intention to add any more stress but she had to ask him.

"Lucifer, did you ask your father these questions?" He stopped walking and he glared at her.

"Actually, yes. But that was after he got us out of the precinct. I hated it that I had to leave you there alone without any explanation." He got more and more agitated. "But I needed the answers."

"Did he talk to you?" She asked quietly, hoping he was ready to tell her about it.

He answered, after a slight hesitation. "Yeah. First, he sent Michael away and said he'd deal with him later. He emphasized that he'd see to it that Michael will stop causing problems and that he won't be of any danger to you anymore."

"I don't believe I'm saying it but can we trust him?" Suddenly, it seemed to Chloe that it was a really preposterous question.

"Surprisingly, I think he can be trusted, at least in this matter. He sounded serious."

"And what about his answers?" She gently encouraged him to go on while he was feeling up to it.

"You have no idea how many times through the millennia I wanted him to talk to me and he has never done it. And now all of a sudden he's here in person and tells me he came to prevent his children from killing each other and to finally settle the things between me and him. Can you imagine this?"

Chloe just shook her head looking for any words but couldn't find any.

"You know, when I fought with Michael the previous time, he told me something which was so outrageous that I didn't believe him." He hung his head.

"What was it? You can tell me anything, I'm here for you." Chloe tried to do whatever she could to assure him and be there for him when he needed it most. He was grateful for that.

"That my rebellion and everything that came with it was Michael's doing. That he tricked me into it because I was the beloved son of the father and he wanted to get me out of the way. But the worst thing is that dad told me it was all true and that he knew about it from the beginning!" Now anger was evident in the tone of his voice. His jaw tightened and his eyes flashed red.

Acting on instinct, Chloe spoke up. "Lucifer." It didn't work though. "Lucifer." She tried again, this time more confident. He looked at her and she patted a place beside her on the sofa. He sat down and she took his hands. He calmed down in an instant and continued.

"He wanted for me to become the Devil, rule over in Hell and then come to Earth and experience all sorts of feelings that would help me to understand myself because as he said, apparently, I had serious problems with expressing feelings and self-acceptance. Talking to him was like an unwanted session with Linda." What he was saying was unbelievable to the detective.

"Chloe, what I'm trying to say is that no matter what my dad's purpose of coming to Earth was, we haven't finished our conversation and I own you an explanation."

"No, you don't. Lucifer, I had no right to demand such a thing from you. You proved your feelings many times and I shouldn't have listened to Michael. I wanted to tell you this but then you were gone." She stated with eagerness.

He looked at her lovingly, his eyes never leaving hers. "Chloe, you had every right to ask me that, considering our ups and downs through the years. And this conversation with dad made me realize that for all this time before you came into my life, I didn't know this feeling. And when it happened I didn't know how to name it or how to act on it. And lack of my self-acceptance wasn't helping either – I mean how could I love someone if I didn't love myself? Maybe it seems stupid but for me it's real. But now darling, I know for sure…" He paused and tucked in a stray lock of her hair. "I love you and I always will."

His eyes were bright with unshed tears and he smiled radiantly.

The sincerity in his voice brought tears to her eyes. "Lucifer, I love you too." She whispered, cupped his face and their lips met in a tender kiss. They broke apart eventually. Their eyes met and her face lit up.

"You know, maybe I will sound cheesy but now that I finally said it out loud, I could shout it from the rooftops for the whole city to hear it – I am truly, madly, deeply in love with you, Chloe Jane Decker!" He added louder.

Chloe giggled and grabbed his arm. "Shh… Lucifer, you can't."

She saw his clueless look on his face. "Why?" He asked.

"Because Trixie's in her bedroom asleep." She said in a low voice.

"Oh, sorry about that." He replied and gave her a sheepish grin.

Suddenly, Chloe's face changed and she remembered about something. "Amenadiel…"

Lucifer looked puzzled. "What about him?" He asked not being sure what she was getting at.

"Is he all right? Did Michael hurt him? Linda was worried sick about him when I took her and Charlie from the precinct."

"I told him you would take care of them." He smiled proud of himself. "He wasn't happy either to leave them there. And yes, he's fine. He's probably already home with Linda and Charlie as we speak."

Lucifer's words made her calm down a little, she felt a bit guilty because she didn't call her friend. "Oh, that's good." She sighed with relief.

"Okay, let's leave my evil twin brother and my heavenly father for the time being. How's Trixie?" His worry was genuine. "I'm deducing that since you took her from your mum, you were afraid that something might happen to her, too. You didn't want to endanger her."

"Yes, she would be safer here with me." She said. She was still amazed at how well Lucifer knew her and could predict her actions.

"Lucifer, are you really sure Michael is not a problem anymore?" She asked again, still not convinced of this celestial creature being out of the picture for good.

"Yes, he shouldn't be." Lucifer gave her hands a light squeeze. He knew that after all those events she seemed to be wary and sensitive.

"Good." She murmured and smiled. "Trixie's fine. You'll never guess what she did today."

"What?" Lucifer was curious wondering what that little urchin managed to do to make her mother so agitated.

"She interrogated me!" Chloe exclaimed but then gasped as she remembered about her daughter sleeping in her bedroom. She lowered her voice in an instant. "Would you expect anything like that?"

Lucifer chuckled and shook his head in disbelief. "Well, like mother like daughter. She obviously takes after you." His eyes sparkled with mischief. "So, what did this little urchin interrogate you about?"

"You, actually." She replied with a large grin.

Her answer made him look baffled, that wasn't something he would expect in this situation. "Me?"

"Yes. She heard me arguing about you with my mother. I told her that I saw you for who you really are, that I loved you and we're together now. Trixie heard that but she gave no sign of it and waited until we got home before she launched an attack and started asking questions."

"Wow." He definitely didn't see it coming. "So, how did she take it… I mean us being together?" He asked with what seemed to be fear and pointed his finger at her and himself.

"Lucifer, you don't have to worry. Trixie adores you from the first moment you two met that day outside the principal's office at her school. She said and I'm quoting her 'I'm ecstatic about it.' Really."

"You have no idea how happy I am." He said and gave her a hug, kissing the top of her head and tracing small circles on her back. "So, you argued with your mother about me, huh?"

"Don't flatter yourself." She answered snuggled against his chest. "I guess we both have some unresolved family issues."

He smiled to himself and closed his eyes. They stayed like that for a while until she struggled to stifle a yawn. He noticed it right away.

"Chloe, I'm sorry. It's such late hour, you must be exhausted after the last days. You need some rest." He apologized.

"Lucifer, you're right but I think you need it as much as I do." She moved out of his embrace, stood up and stretched her hand to him. "Come on, let's go to bed."

Lucifer hesitated for a small moment and then took her hand in his and stood up from the sofa, following her quietly to the bedroom upstairs.

To be continued soon. Dimi and all of the readers, I hope you liked this version of Deckerstar reunion. Bye for now.
