MJ was setting up the last of the tables at Merlotte's when she looked at the time and realized Dawn wasn't there yet. As far as MJ knew, Dawn would always give a head's up if she was going to be late or not coming in at all. MJ thought it was odd to not have gotten any word yet, so she decided to check with Sam and see if he knew anything.
Without thinking, MJ entered Sam's office without knocking thus resulting in Sam shoving something back into a shipping box and quickly closing it up. MJ wanted to know what that was about but decided to ask her question first. "Uh, Dawn's not here yet. Did she call out today or something?"
Sam not so subtly sidestepped in front of the box on his desk and quickly answered her in an attempt to keep her attention away from the box. "No and she's not answering either. I asked Sookie to stop by and check in on her but haven't heard anything yet. That all?"
"That was my main reason for coming in here, but now I want to know what you're hiding." MJ moved closer to Sam with a curious smile upon her face.
"It's nothing." Sam pushed the box as far back against the wall as possible but it didn't get very far.
"If it's nothing then show me." MJ tried to get a look but was prevented from doing so when Sam tickled her in her ribs. This caused MJ to shriek with laughter and back up. "That's playing dirty!"
"And there's more where that came from if you try to peek again." Sam wiggled his fingers out towards her to make his point, but slightly caved because he knew if he didn't tell her something that she likely wouldn't let it go. "I'm working on something. I don't know if it's going to work so I don't want to get your hopes up."
Okay, now MJ was even more curious than before. "You've got to give me more than that. You don't want to get my hopes up about what?"
Sam debated whether or not he should tell her for a moment until finally he stepped forward and held the back of his hand out towards MJ's bare arm. Not close enough to touch but enough to make his intention clear. "A workaround."
MJ felt warm inside after hearing that. He was trying to find ways for them to touch and make things work and that meant so much to her. "In that case I'll leave you to your project." She had to get out of that office right quick before she ended up kissing him again. She hoped whatever he was working on would work out in the end because she wanted nothing more than to be close to him.
After allowing herself a few moments to daydream, MJ got back to work. She was taking care of the glasses when she got a telepathic message from Sookie. It started out normal enough until Sookie went into details about how she found Dawn dead and that Jason was taken away for questioning.
Hearing all this made MJ drop the glasses in her hands, causing them to shatter upon impact with the floor. A sound that made Sam appear beside her just seconds later.
Sam could see that MJ was white as a ghost but had no idea what happened. "What is it? Talk to me, Jeanne."
MJ blocked herself from Sookie in order to have time to process the hell that had hit the town once again. "Dawn's dead…" she whispered before speaking more clearly. "Dawn's dead. Sookie found her and Jason was taken in by the cops. Why do they always think he did it? He's not a murderer. He could never intentionally hurt anyone."
Sam made sure not to touch MJ's skin as he guided her over to a nearby chair and had her sit down. He knew he had to get to Dawn's place to see Sookie and because he was Dawn's landlord so they likely had questions for him as well. "I should go there, Jeanne. Let me drop you off at home first."
"I need to finish getting the place ready to open." MJ was not going home after hearing about what just happened.
"I'm not opening today…" That was Sam's plan anyway but changed it when MJ shot back with,
"Like hell you're not. Dawn is dead, Sam. I doubt I'm the only one who'd want a drink after hearing about it." MJ placed her hand on Sam's sleeved arm and squeezed slightly. "I also doubt I'm the only one who would want the distraction."
Sam nodded in understanding and agreement. "I'll be back as soon as I can." He kissed the top of her head and headed out to take care of whatever he'd have to so he could get back.
MJ closed her eyes and opened her mind back up to Sookie. After telling her that Sam was on his way, she went to clean up the broken glass on the floor. This strange world was getting worse and MJ hated it. If there was something – anything she could do to keep things from getting even worse than they already were then she was going to do it. The only question was…what the hell could she possibly do?
There may not be much she could do in that moment but something did come to mind. MJ went to the phone near the bar and dialed Tara's number. She doubted the news would have gotten to her this fast and she was right – Tara hadn't heard about Dawn's death yet or that Jason had been taken to the Police station yet again.
After telling Tara everything she knew, MJ asked her a favor. "Is there any way you can go down to the station and get Jason the hell out of there. If I went down I'd probably make things worse for him or end up getting locked up myself for losing my temper on those assholes again."
Tara didn't doubt it. "I'll go now. Don't worry, Marie-Jeanne, they don't have anything on him."
Since Tara ended the call there, MJ was about to get back to work but she got a message from Sookie asking her to meet at the house so they could tell Gran what was going on. MJ wasn't going to say no to that so she left Sam a note on the bar stating that she'd be back and went on her way.
Sookie was already on the porch when MJ pulled up. MJ got out of the car and went straight to Sookie to give her a hug. "This has got to stop, Sookie. These deaths have got to stop."
Sookie couldn't agree more as she hugged MJ back. "I know. The world is getting all messed up."
As they moved away from their hug, MJ stated, "The world has always been messed up. It's just now right in our backyard."
There was nothing left to say about that, so MJ went into the house with Sookie and found Gran in the kitchen.
Gran knew what they were about to say to her so she cut to the chase. "I heard."
"About Jason, too?" Sookie asked, even though she figured Gran probably knew all about that as well.
Gran nodded before making something abundantly clear. "He didn't do it, you both know this. Jason may be many things, but he is not a murderer."
"We know, Gran." MJ knew that this was stuff Gran needed to get off her chest, but MJ needed her to affirm where they stood.
Gran nodded again as she rubbed her hands together. "The thing is, girls, in all the years I've lived in Bon Temps I can't recall but two, maybe three murders. And now there are two in one week. People are not gonna stand for it. And if the police can't find the person who did it, they're gonna find Jason. He needs your help. Both of you."
Sookie didn't know what they could possibly do about it. "Gran, how are we supposed to – …"
Gran cut her off there by stating what she felt was the obvious. "You use the gifts God gave you. Listen in on people, Sookie. Keep your ears or whatever it is you use to listen open. And Marie-Jeanne, a brush of the hand here and there is worth it if it means finding something to help Jason. Either of you are bound to hear something." Gran looked at both Sookie and MJ as she continued. "Marie-Jeanne, Sookie, he is your brother. You have to help him. Whatever it takes."
MJ rubbed her gloved hands together as she looked at Sookie. There was nothing telepathic going on between them because their eyes said it all to each other. They both looked to Gran and agreed in their varying ways of saying, "Okay."
Gran was so grateful to hear that. "Good girls." She hugged them both in turn. "Good girls."
That night at Merlotte's, before MJ started waiting her tables, she pulled Sam away from the bar and into his office. She needed to tell him what she was planning on doing that night so he wasn't concerned or confused or anything of the like.
Sam had asked MJ what this was about as she pulled him along, but she didn't give him an answer at the time. Now that they were alone in his office with the door closed, he attempted to ask again. "What's going on, Jeanne? It's busy tonight, we should be out there."
"There's something I need to do tonight so please don't worry or try to talk me out of it, okay?" MJ really should have explained herself better because the look on Sam's face was exactly what she was trying to avoid.
Sam had no idea what MJ was talking about and that made him very concerned. "What are you going to do, Jeanne?"
MJ exhaled deeply before giving him his answer. "I'm going to be touching people tonight. Not for long, just a brush here and there to see if I can pick up anything about the murders. Sookie can't handle it all on her own, so I'm going to help her."
Sam couldn't believe what he was hearing. "What are you thinking? You can barely handle my hand brushing up against you but you're going to do the same to everyone in the bar tonight?"
"I know, okay? I know. But I have to do this. Genetics be damned, Jason is my brother. This is something I can do to try and help him so that's what I'm going to do." MJ removed her gloves and put them into her apron. "I have a plan – Brush, process, and move on."
Sam had to point out the flaw in her plan. "That will only work if they're thinking about it right when you touch them. There is no guarantee that they will and you'll be causing yourself repeated misery for nothing." He didn't want her going through with this at all.
"If they killed a person I doubt they'd be thinking about anything but that. I can handle it. I have to." Before leaving the office, MJ gave Sam a quick peck on the cheek and in that moment got hit with his thoughts of how he didn't want her to do it and how she was crazy and thoughts of the like. MJ wasn't bothered by those thoughts because, honestly, parts of her felt the same. "See?" MJ smiled and without another word she left the room.
MJ was about to head to one of her tables, but Tara came in at that moment and went straight to work behind the bar. MJ went to the bar first to say to her, "Thank you, Tara. I owe you."
"You don't owe me nothing. I know Jason is a good man deep down. He doesn't deserve this." Tara left it at that and went to work tending the bar.
MJ appreciated having Tara in their corner when it came to Jason – especially since Tara was able to get him out police custody. Now it was time to get down to business. With her order pad in hand, she passed Sookie, asking, "You good?"
Sookie took a deep breath and nodded. "You gonna be?"
MJ shrugged in a 'we'll see' manner and got right to it. Doing what needed to be done was going to make this one hell of a long night…
Bad plan. Bad, bad plan. Even with the brief touching and giving herself what she thought would be enough time to process before moving on, eventually it was too much for MJ to bear. It got to the point where the thoughts came back with a vengeance and she couldn't process who said what because all the voices were overlapping with one another. MJ had never had that happen before, but then again she'd never touched so many people in a short period of time before.
MJ was getting so overwhelmed in the thoughts that she had to go outside and try to compose herself, but it wasn't working. In fact, it was starting to become painful for her. So much so that she didn't even realize that she had cried out from it.
Sookie – who had been outside talking to Bill about what happened to Dawn – had heard MJ's scream. Bill had sped off ahead of her and when she caught up, she found MJ holding onto her head buckling to the ground with Bill reaching out to catch her. "No, don't touch her!"
Sookie bolted towards MJ as Bill heeded her words and back away. She knelt on the ground in front of the collapsed MJ and cupped her face. "MJ? MJ, listen to me. Focus on me."
MJ was starting to hyperventilate and when she felt Sookie's hands on her face, she quickly locked eyes with hers and gripped onto her wrists. MJ focused on Sookie and found the voices sorting themselves out and becoming filed away. Finally, there was nothing but her own thoughts in her mind. She closed her eyes and released Sookie's wrists with a relieved and grateful, "Thank you."
"Are you alright?" Bill asked MJ, not truly understanding what he had just witnessed.
"Even if I wasn't, you'd be the last person I'd ask for help." MJ brushed herself off before pointing out, "I'm still pissed at you in case you haven't noticed." MJ took her gloves out of her apron pocket and returned them to her hands, saying to Sookie, "Sorry, sister, you're on your own for the rest of the night."
"Actually, I might not have to be." Sookie filled in MJ on the last bit of the conversation she had with Bill before hearing her cry out. "A lot of people were talking about a Vampire bar in Shreveport where both Maudette and Dawn used to hang out. Bill has agreed to take me there tonight so I can poke around, and if you're up for it maybe you'd come along?"
MJ raised a brow in a manner that practically screamed out 'as if you had to ask', before saying aloud, "I just need to tell Sam."
Bill hadn't expected Sookie to invite MJ along and when she did, he certainly didn't expect MJ to accept the offer. Alas, she had so all he could do was bow his head slightly and say, "I will meet you ladies later," before taking his leave.
MJ rolled her eyes as she went back inside with Sookie in tow. "I hope you don't expect me to play nice with him, Sookie, because that is not going to happen."
Sookie knew better than that. "I do not expect it, but it would be nice if you did." MJ's blank stare was all she got in reply, so – just like MJ did when the thoughts got under control – she quickly moved on and opened the door to Sam's office.
MJ waited until Sam turned his attention towards them and away from his computer before saying, "Hey, Sam, I know it'll make you shorthanded tonight but is there any way Sookie and I can take the rest of the night off?"
Sam could take a guess as to why they needed to head out early since he knew what they had been up to, but he wanted to make sure it wasn't more than that. "Why?"
Sookie answered honestly with, "We need to go to that Vampire bar in Shreveport to snoop around and see if we can clear our brother's name and Mr. Compton was kind enough to agree to take us."
Sam looked at the pair like they were insane. "Jesus, Sookie, you're gonna get yourself killed and your sister along with you. You know that?"
"We'll be fine," MJ defended, finding his concern sweet of course but she didn't want to deal with it in that moment. All MJ wanted to do was get going and help Sookie try to find out anything they could that might help Jason.
Sam looked right at MJ as he leaned forward in his chair towards her. "Jeanne, the fact you think you're gonna be fine only proves just how not fine you're both gonna be." Now he addressed them both. "Vampires only think about one thing and one thing only: Drinking your blood." There was no way in hell he was going to let Jeanne get involved in whatever plan he was sure Sookie cooked up.
Sookie scoffed at his remark. "Oh, like humans aren't bloodthirsty? All those people out there wanna see our brother hang for a crime he didn't commit. Is that what you want?"
"Of course not," Sam retorted with a forced exhale. "I'm not saying don't help your brother. I'm saying…"
MJ interjected there because she could feel the debate Sookie had brewing and they didn't have time for that. "Look, Sam, you're concerned for us and I adore your for it but we're going. As childish as this sounds, you can't stop us." She turned to Sookie to say, "Let's go."
Neither of them gave Sam the chance to say another word before they walked out of his office. MJ felt a pit in her stomach for doing it, but she didn't want to be put in a situation where she had to choose because if Sam had eventually given her an ultimatum about the situation then that wouldn't have ended well for either of them.
There was no way in hell MJ was going to ride in Bill's care to Shreveport so she took her own and followed them there. It was a quiet drive save for the radio since Sookie decided to ride with Bill. Unlike Sookie who wore a light colored thin strapped sundress, MJ erred on the side of caution with her choice of attire. MJ Changed into something she wore the previous Halloween – a black dress with long lacy sleeves and a red corset top with black leggings. Thankfully it wasn't an actual Halloween costume and was purchased from an online clothing store so she hoped it wouldn't offend the Vampires at the bar. If Bill's comment about her looking as if she'd blend right in was correct then he hope would be as well.
When they arrived at Fangtasia – a name that made MJ chuckle when she saw it – Bill approached her car with Sookie. "Is there a problem?" Bill looked as if someone had just killed his cat and Sookie's expression was hesitant to say the least.
It was Bill who answered first, albeit a bit hesitantly. "You need to come in with me."
"Duh, that's why we're here." MJ wasn't getting the point.
Sookie elaborated. "What Bill means is that we need to be…close to him. They need to think we're…his."
MJ paused mid motion of putting his purse over her shoulder and across her chest when Sookie filled her in on that little tidbit. "You've got to be kidding me. How close are we talking here?"
"My hand around your waist will suffice." Bill knew quite well how much MJ did not like him but it had to be done. "I promised your grandmother that no harm would come to you. If it is believed you are available then I will have trouble keeping that promise."
MJ held up her hand to keep him from talking anymore. "Fine. Let's just get this over with and no skin contact." MJ dealt with enough memories and thoughts that night, she didn't want to get hit with Bill's multitude of them.
Bill bowed his head in understanding and once he had his arms around each of them, they headed into Fangtasia together.
They had barely made it in three feet when a woman approached them saying, "Bill, haven't seen you for awhile."
"I'm mainstreaming," was his reply, hinting that he didn't want to partake in the conversation for long.
"Good for you." The female Vampire looked between Sookie and MJ before turning her attention back to Bill. "Who are the dolls?"
Bill proceeded to introduce them in turn. "Pam, this is Sookie and Marie. Sookie, Marie, this is Pam." He didn't happen to notice the instant annoyance from MJ due to the fact he had only introduced her as Marie.
Sookie instantly extended her hand with a friendly smile. "Please to meet you," but Pam looked at her hand with a hint of disgust, causing Bill to lower Sookie's hand with a quick expression telling her not to do that.
Pam held out her hands towards them in a manner that expressed she expected them to be filled. "Can I see your ID's?"
MJ handed hers over without comment because Vampire bar or not, it was still a bar, but Sookie found amusement in it.
Pam explained why she asked for their identifications. "I can no longer tell Human ages. We must be sure not to serve minors in any capacity." She noticed they were both twenty-five, but more than that they shared the same birthday and looked between them again. "Do you happen to be twins? Twins are very popular here."
"Happy coincidence," Sookie beamed and accepted her ID back.
Pam simply replied with a, "Hmm," before walking away since her business was done with them.
"Charming," MJ said to herself as she walked with Sookie and Bill towards the bar. "I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but…" her eyes trailed over to the gift shop area and the tourists that were shopping from it and continued her thought, "I didn't expect it to have a tourist attraction vibe."
"I was just thinking that!" Sookie laughed since it wasn't a thought she had sent to MJ. "It feels like what a Vampire bar would be at Disneyworld."
"Believe me, it will get far more authentic as the night progresses," Bill assured them. "Allow me to get you both a drink."
The bartender knew Bill and greeted him as such. "How you doing, Bill?"
"Very well," Bill replied with a bowed head of greeting.
The Bartender looked Sookie and MJ over before licking his prominent fangs. "I'll say it is. These your meal for tonight?"
Bill corrected his train of thought and made yet another set of introductions. "These are my friends. Sookie, Marie, Longshadow." This time he noticed the change in MJ's demeanor upon the introduction, but didn't correct himself.
"Nice to meet you," Sookie smiled but Longshadow didn't reply. With a mild clear to her throat, she added in, "I'll have gin and tonic, please."
"And I'll have a bottle of O Negative," Bill added in right before asking MJ, "And what will you have, Marie?"
Okay, she was started to really get annoyed. He so didn't earn the right to call her anything but Marie-Jeanne, even if he was referring to her as the first part of her name it was still not something he'd earned. Her tone was evident of that despite the topic when she placed her drink order. "Bottle of beer, doesn't matter what kind." MJ didn't intend on drinking it, she just wanted to have something in her hands. She knew Sookie wanted to ask Longshadow some questions so MJ intended to leave her to that and go exploring. Staying in 'character' she asked Bill, "May I make a round, William?" MJ deliberately did that so he'd get the hint that she didn't want him calling her anything other than Marie-Jeanne.
Bill caught what she did there didn't like the idea of her wandering off but she'd likely do it without his permission if he said no which would just draw unwanted attention to them, so he permitted with a condition. "You are to call me Bill, Marie-Jeanne and stay where I can see you."
MJ bowed her head in understanding with a smirk of pride before taking her bottle of beer off the bar and walking away to make her rounds. Only MJ's fingertips were exposed through her gloves so the odds of accidentally touching someone were slim, but if she needed to deliberately do it the option was there.
MJ weaved through the people and lingered a bit near a man who seemed to be in a trance. Out of curiosity and concern for the obvious human, she walked around him and brushed her fingertips against his hand. Instantly his thoughts of 'Oh my god. He's so powerful. So beautiful. The closer I step, the more beautiful he gets. You can do this. Just walk up there and offer yourself to him…' flooded her mind. The man's thoughts were so powerful that she needed an extra moment or two to recover. Once his thoughts were filed away, MJ turned around and found the man approaching the object of his desire; an alluring blonde Vampire sitting in a throne atop the stage. He was clearly important and MJ's curiosity piqued. She forced herself not to think about the fact of how that Vampire was probably the most handsome man she had ever seen. Yeah, it would do no good to think about that.
MJ spotted Bill and Sookie standing at a table nearby so she beelined to them and asked Bill, "Who's the stoic Vampire on the stage?" She cocked her head towards the main stage but didn't look at the Vampire who sat there. All MJ wanted was information and nothing more.
"You noticed him as well?" Bill didn't sound surprised. He looked to Sookie, "Everyone does." Bill now looked at the pair since they stood side by side and explained. "That's Eric. He's the oldest thing in this bar."
MJ couldn't help but laugh upon hearing his name. She pointed at Sookie, saying, "I told you Eric would be an appropriate Vampire name."
Sookie chuckled at her reaction and the memory of the conversation. "You did."
Their amusement was cut short when Eric kicked off the human who had touched his leg, causing the human to crash into a table and cut his forehead in the process. The presence of fresh blood caused a lot of the Vampires to hiss in hunger, but only one female Vampire managed to take him away.
Bill sipped at his bottle of O Negative before asking them, "Still think you're in Disneyworld?"
After some time of nothing really going on, MJ started to get a little fidgety. She drummed her fingers on her beer bottle while saying to Sookie, "I'm starting to think my coming here was pointless. There's nothing I can do but stand around." MJ felt a bit stupid about it now. "You getting anything, Sook?"
Sookie shook her head with a frustrated sigh. "All anyone is thinking about in this place is sex, sex, sex."
Bill wasn't surprised by this. "Once needn't be telepathic to pick up on that."
Sookie smiled a bit at Bill before looking away because she picked up something different. Well it wasn't quite different since it was about sex but it was directed towards MJ. Sookie chuckled a little before filling MJ in on it. "You have an admirer. That guy by the wall thinks you're a Vampire and wants you to take him to bed."
If MJ had been drinking her beer at that moment then it likely would have been sprayed out on the table upon hearing that, but since she wasn't she just stared at Sookie while trying to process what she'd just been told. "I'm not sure if I should be flattered or appalled. Either way, he's going to be disappointed."
Before either of them could say another word, Bill noticed Eric looking towards them again and voiced, "Uh oh."
MJ did not like the sound of that one but. "Don't say uh oh." Nothing good ever came after someone saying 'uh oh'.
Sookie was on the same page as her. "Vampires cannot say uh oh." She was starting to get worried about what Bill's explanation for it was going to be.
Bill drank some of his TruBlood before informing them what he was concerned about. "It's Eric. He's scanned you both twice. He's going to summon us."
MJ wasn't quite getting what the big deal was, but then again she didn't know what 'summoning' meant in the Vampire community. "Why does this sound more ominous than it should?"
Bill didn't get the chance to answer her question due to Eric doing just what was suspected. After Pam had whispered something to Eric, he made a gesture to Bill directing him to bring them to the stage. Knowing they couldn't refuse, he held his hands out for MJ and Sookie to take in a 'shall we' manner.
MJ groaned a bit as she placed her hand in his, making sure her fingertips did not touch his skin in the process. "This going to be fun," she muttered, which received a 'hush now' expression from Sookie in reply.
Eric watched as the trio approached, noticing how he released his hand from one of the ladies, but not the other. Putting that thought aside for the moment, he presently focused on Bill as he greeted him. "Bill Compton, it's been awhile."
"Yes, well," Bill began to reply, "I've been…"
Eric finished his sentence for him. "Mainstreaming. I heard. " His eyes went from the blonde woman holding onto Bill's hand to the one who simply stood beside him and kept his gaze there. "I see that is going well for you."
Bill cleared his throat. "Yes, of course. Uh, sorry, Eric, these are my friends…"
Again Eric finished his sentence starting with the woman his gaze was presently set upon, "Marie-Jeanne Boudreaux and Sookie Stackhouse." Eric may have stated he knew who Sookie was, but he didn't look at her in turn.
"How do you know our names?" Sookie wanted to know and also wanted to try to draw some attention away from MJ since she appeared to be staring at Eric as much as he was staring at her.
"I never forget a pretty face," Pam replied from her standing position beside Eric. She then gestured to the side of her head as she tilted it slightly, "You're in my vault."
MJ accidentally thought aloud, "This is the second time tonight where I'm not sure if I should be flattered or appalled."
Bill's instantly turned to her and gave her such a strong expression of warning. She would not get away with saying something like that again.
Sookie quickly interjected there with, "What she meant to say was it's nice to meet you."
After a brief chortle in Marie-Jeanne's direction, Eric turned his attention to Sookie. "Well, aren't you sweet. But I believe if that is what your companion wished to say then it would have been said." Eric looked back to Marie-Jeanne and decided to ruffle her feathers a bit, so to speak. "Isn't that right, Mary-Jane?"
MJ put her hands on her hips a bit defensively despite Bill's look of warning. "Yeah, that's right. And my name is Marie-Jeanne."
"I know," Eric simply replied before speaking to Pam in a foreign dialect. After their brief conversation, he addressed Sookie. "Miss Stackhouse, I understand you've been asking questions about some of my customers. If you have anything to ask you should as it of me."
MJ opened her mouth to say something snarky in reply but was prevented from doing so when Bill grabbed onto her wrist and gave her a look of warning. With a huff, she used her free hand to side her fingers across her mouth like she was zipping them up and 'threw away the key'.
Sookie brought the attention back to herself since Eric was staring at MJ again. "Alrighty." She rummaged into her purse for the pictures she'd been showing around and handed them over to him. "You recognize either one of these girls?"
Eric accepted the photographs from Sookie and looked them over with a bit of a moan before answering her question, pointing to the referenced photograph in turn. "Well, this one offered herself to me. But I found her too pathetic for my attentions. Now this one however," he lowered the photographs to look at Sookie and finished his thought, "I have tasted."
"I remember them both," Pam interjected, but couldn't finish her thought due to Sookie saying,
"On account of the vault?"
MJ snickered at that, she couldn't help it especially since Sookie had given her a 'hush' look not to long ago and was now getting snarky, too.
Due to Sookie's response to Pam, he quickly gripped her hand and squeezed it with a look of warning. All while thinking that that, metaphorically speaking at the very least, these ladies were going to be the death of him.
Pam picked up from where she left off without a second thought nor reaction towards the actions seen before her. "Never had either of them, though. They weren't really my type."
MJ looked towards Sookie and sent her a message, 'As amusing as this is, perhaps we are pushing our luck a little bit.'
Sookie nodded in MJ's direction, not realizing that there was a momentary look of intrigue on Eric's face at the exchange between them, and took the photographs back from Eric. "Well, thank you. That is all your time I need to take."
Eric wasn't ready to let them go so quickly. "But I'm not finished with you yet." He smiled at Marie-Jeanne in an expecting manner. "Please. Sit."
MJ heard a message from Sookie saying, 'You were right. We were pushing our luck'. MJ looked at Sookie with a 'ya think' expression in reply before taking the seat Eric had gestured to beside him with Sookie sitting in the one beside her.
Eric didn't take his eyes off Marie-Jeanne as he spoke to Bill. "So, Bill, are you quite attached to your friends?"
Bill took a defensive step forward. "They are mine."
"Yes," Sookie quickly concurred. "We are his."
Eric waited for Marie-Jeanne's own confirmation but none was voice. "And what about you? Are you Bill's, Mary-Jane?"
MJ forced herself to put a smile on her face as she lied, "Yes. I am his. And once again, with all due respect, my name is Marie-Jeanne."
"I know." Was all Eric had to say to that as he looked her over. "What a pity that you are his. For me."
Okay, MJ would be lying if denied the fact that the way he said that sent shivers through her every which way. She smiled sweetly but her tone was not such. "You'll live."
Eric briefly chuckled at her words before turning his attention back to Bill. "Sit with us. We have catching up to do, you and I. It has been too long."
"Yes," Bill replied with a mild hint of reluctance before taking a seat in the chair on the other side of Eric, watching as Eric didn't take his eyes off Marie-Jeanne.
MJ turned to Sookie because she just felt…something and found Sookie had an expression on her face that she got when she was listening in on prominent thoughts. "Sookie, what is it?"
"We have to get out of here," Sookie couldn't make herself any clearer. "Eric, the cops are coming. There's gonna be a riot."
Eric was taking her words seriously. "Tell me you're not undercover cops."
"We're not but that man in the hat is." Sookie gestured towards the only guy on the dancefloor wearing a hat.
Eric eyed the man in the hat as he stated, "Even if you're right, we do nothing illegal here."
"Unless the guy that cracked his head open earlier is getting into something." MJ wiggled her fingers at Sookie to explain. "He was hooked on getting bit and that Vampire lady did make an introduction."
Sookie took that cue to focus in and found MJ was right. "There's a Vampire named Taryn in the ladies' room with that man you kicked before. She's feeding on him."
Pam looked at the pair suspiciously. "How do you know this?"
Bill shook his head to tell them not to say anything, but even if they were planning to they weren't given a chance due to the arrival of numerous police officers entering the establishment shouting out, "Freeze! Police!"
Panic mode was set off in Fangtasia as Humans and Vampires alike started to scatter. In the midst of the commotion, Eric led the way off the stage instructing the others to follow him.
MJ certainly wasn't going to stick around so she took off with Bill and Sookie who were behind Pam and Eric as they went through a back exit of Fangtasia that led to an alleyway.
Eric turned to Marie-Jeanne and Sookie before taking his leave with Pam at a Vampiric speed, saying, "I enjoyed meeting you both. You will come again."
MJ had no intention of ever going back to Fangtasia, but she couldn't help but feel deep down that Eric would be right and honestly, that terrified…and exhilarated her. Bill was certainly right about one thing...they were most definitely not in Disneyworld.
