-Chapter 4-

Julia and Ivan had agreed to blend in as much as possible. They didn't want to spook Isaac with their presence. This included school. Julia was of age to have graduated, never even having attended a high school. But Ivan wasn't, so he agreed to join the local high school.

Ivan had never set foot in a public school. But he was excited. With all the moving, he was never allowed to join a school, instead having to be home schooled by one of his aunts. He enjoyed learning, he had a favor with knowledge, he enjoyed Maths and Science. So when Julia informed him of her plan to blend in, including him ingraining himself within high school, he was happy.

They were once again staying at a motel, this time in town. Ivan had been able to put some money aside for basic school supplies. Managing not to get overcome with excitement and blowing it all on school. They needed the money to last a long while, it was all the income they had.

When Monday came, he was ready. There was a public school bus not too far from the motel. Julia was peacefully sleeping when he left, remembering to set a note aside in case she forgot what day it was.

The bus was crowded, Ivan was never very good with crowds, so he placed his headphones upon his head and tried his best to block out all the noise. When he arrived at Beacon Hills high school, he realised how much he had underestimated the size of the school. This was going to be harder to navigate than he thought. Ivan was joining his senior year, everyone knew each other, and he knew no one.

As Ivan was navigating the halls, he unknowingly ran into a large hunk of boy.

''I'm sorry, are you okay?'' murmured the boy.

''Um, that was my fault, I don't know where I'm going.'' replied Ivan.

''Oh, you must be new. I'm Liam.''

''Yeah, I'm Ivan.''

''I can show you to your first class. If you want?'' inquired Liam.

''I wouldn't want you to go out of your way, really.''

''It's no problem. Looks like we're in the same Science class.'' said Liam, as he grabbed Ivan's schedule, examining the boys day ahead.

''Oh, thank you.''

Ivan followed Liam across the school halls, heading to his first class of the day. The two struck up an easy conversation, sharing pleasantries.

''So, where are you from?'' inquired Liam, taking a seat at the back of the classroom.

''Umm, far away.'' replied Ivan, taking a seat next to the boy.

''Right, oh here comes Mason. He's my best friend.'' Mason appeared through the classroom, taking the last seat next to Ivan.

''Hey, Mason, this is Ivan, he's new.''

''Nice to meet you Ivan, I'm Mason.''

''Nice to meet you.'' The class soon began and Ivan was comfortable with the two boys. Enjoying actually learning new content from a qualified teacher.

-At the Tate farm-

Malia had been trying hard to concentrate on her work over the weekend. Her run with Isaac had helped a lot, allowing her to clear her head, while enjoying Isaac's presence. He was a good person to talk to, not condescending about her common mistakes.

She was now trying to complete a worksheet for her applied Maths class. It wasn't going well, she had been trying to cover the same question for 20 minutes. She was bored, and tired.

There was a sudden knock on the door, they didn't get many guests. She heard her dad answer the door. Then he called for her.

''Malia, it's for you, a young man has come to see you.''

Malia assumed it must have been Scott or Stiles. Her dad wasn't very good with names. She approached the door with familiarity but was surprised to see Isaac.

''Hey, what are you doing here?''

''Are you busy?''

Isaac had decided to whisk Malia away to a sort of discreet date. He asked her if she enjoyed movies, she did. They agreed upon an action movie, and pizza afterwards.

They went back to Beacon dinner and ordered a large pepperoni pizza for the both of them.

''So, what did you think of the movie?'' inquired Isaac.

''It was good.'' replied Malia, munching on a slice of pizza.

''Yeah, it was.''

''How was France?'' asked Malia.

''What?'' Isaac wasn't expecting this question from her. He wasn't quite sure how to answer.

''France. I've always wanted to go, is it nice?'' Malia asked, trying to take an interest in Isaac.

''Um, yeah it is. There's really not that much to it.'' Isaac's heart began to beat harder.

''What's wrong with you? Why's your heartbeat picking up?''

''What, no it isn't.''

''You haven't really said much about why you left France or why you came back. What are you hiding?'' asked Malia.

''I'm not hiding anything'' Isaac realised at once that Malia could see right through him. He's not sure he could ever lie to this girl. There was a pause while Malia inspected Isaac, trying to figure out why he was hiding something from her.

''You clearly are. But you don't have to tell me.'' said Malia, finally.

''I don't?'' inquired Isaac.

''No, everyone is entitled to their secrets. I'm sure whatever it is, is important.''

''Yeah, it is. Are you hiding something?'' asked Isaac.

''I guess you'll never know.'' replied Malia, continuing to eat her pizza.

Isaac was perplexed by her. The way she spoke what was on her mind. She was extraordinary, he wanted to know what her secrets were, and he wanted to tell her his.

-At the McCall house-

Scott had just returned from a shift at the animal clinic. Melissa was working a 12 hour shift. So he returned home with some takeout. He was laying out the food on the table, ready for his mum when she returned home. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Scott approached apprehensively.

When he opened the door, he was met with a young girl, probably around his age. Dark hair and dark eyes.

''Can I help you?'' inquired Scott. Seizing up the girl, catching her scent. He knew instantly. Werewolf.

''I believe you can. I'm looking for Isaac Lahey. I understand he lives here.'' asked Julia. She had also caught Scott's scent, not only that but she could sense his status. An alpha.

''What do you want with Isaac?'' Scott was instantly apprehensive, this girl seemed off to him.

''He has something of mine.'' replied Julia, they were wasting time.

''May I come inside?'' inquired Julia.

''I don't think so.''

''Okay, well if you don't mind, perhaps you could point me in Isaac's direction. It's quite urgent.''

''He's not here, he could be anywhere.'' replied Scott. This girl seemed like trouble. He didn't like trouble.

''How helpful. I guess I'll be on my way then. Thank you Scott McCall.'' replied Julia, before setting off.

Scott slammed the door, quickly trying to call Isaac, his phone was off. He tried Stiles next. He picked up instantly.

''Hey, we have a problem. Come over and bring Lydia.''

-Later in the day-

The group had gathered (Lydia, Scott and Stiles), anxiously awaiting Isaac's return. He had not left any indication of where he was going. They were each wondering where he could possibly be, with his phone turned off.

Isaac arrived with Malia at around 8pm, they had finished their food, and taken a walk talking about everything and anything. Getting to know each other like never before.

They entered the house, encountering the rest of the group. Each of them had a worried look on their faces.

''What's going on?'' asked Isaac.

''Someone came to see you. I didn't catch her name. But she was supernatural. A werewolf.'' replied Scott.

''Got something you want to tell us?'' asked Stiles. With his usual level of wittiness.

''Julia.'' is all Isaac said before sitting down at the kitchen table.

''Who is she?'' asked Scott, the group each taking a seat at the table.

''We met in France. Julia is a part of a strong English werewolf family. They go back centuries. I met them last year. Her family took me in, I stayed with them for a couple of full moons. They were in France searching for someone or something. They were very secretive about it. I found out last month what it was. Her family were trying to revive an ancient fae, named Oberon'' said Isaac, he had pushed any memories of them back. He left for a good reason. He knew this, he just hated the way he left.

''Wait, an ancient fae? You've got to be kidding me.'' inquired Stiles. He was sick of ancient supernatural creatures suddenly making a comeback.

''Nope, he's believed to be the king of the Fae. But I didn't believe it either at first. It sounded stupid.'' replied Isaac.

''But? Something changed your mind.'' said Malia.

''Yeah. They had all of these scriptures, they brought people in that seemed to know what they were talking about, a ritual using this weird stone. So, I stole the stone and came here. I guess Julia is here to take it back.''

''Okay, so what do we do?'' asked Lydia, finally chiming in. She probably knew the most on the subject of mythical Fae.

''We can't let her take it. If she does, I don't know what her family will be able to do.''

''So we don't let her take it. We will stop her.'' replied Scott. They would have a lot of work to do.
