Owen drove the jeep towards Main Street and parked the car in the parking lot. Since it was afternoon, it was also time for lunch. Knowing Valentina must be hungry, Owen carried her to the Triassic Diner while his daughter lagged a little behind once they left the car. As her uncle carried her through Main Street, Valentina couldn't stop admiring the park and the people in here, but there were so many people the toddler could get lost, hence Owen carrying his niece while Kate kept an eye on her cousin. Valentina was so excited to see dinosaurs she waved her arms back and forth, but her uncle told her to eat first. Owen and his daughter came into the Triassic Diner before they sat next to the window. Kate then ordered two cheeseburgers, some fries, a blueberry milkshake, a veggie steak and apple pie. As Kate hungrily ate her meal, she saw Valentina giggling while eating.
"Don't eat and laugh. Doing so will cause you to choke." Kate told her cousin.
But Valentina the spoiled brat stuck her tongue to the teenager and giggled, causing Kate to groan. The teenager finished her meal and paid the whole lunch for her family before going to the first stage of the improvised visit with her father carrying Valentina on his shoulders in tail. And it was Kate's least favorite attraction.
The Gentle Giants Petting Zoo. This attraction featured baby Apatosauruses, Parasaurolophuses, Corythosauruses, Triceratopses and Gallimimuses. There multiple kids were riding and hugging those baby dinosaurs. Valentina was overexcited to get to see those baby dinosaurs up close. She watched the baby dinosaurs from her uncle's shoulders in awe; they were so cute! She absolutely wanted to pet the baby dinosaurs.
"Uncle Owen, Kate! Can I go down thewe? Pwease, can I? Pwease, say 'Yes'! Pwease! Pwease! Pwease!" Valentina begged bouncing up and down on her uncle's shoulders.
"No fucking way. Abigail told me not to put you in any fucking paddock, so my answer is and will still be 'No'. Regardless of what you're pleading for." Kate dryly replied to her toddler cousin.
Valentina then cried, getting everyone's attention. Even the employee named Archie couldn't believe his eyes. Owen's niece was whining and chucking a tantrum just bacause said 'No' to one of the requests. Valentina then kept crying, much to the tourists' and staffers' annoyance. Kate then saw the baby dinosaurs were all watching Valentina. Foreseeing what would happen, Kate went ahead of her father to the next stage of the visit. As if on clue, Valentina saw the baby dinos and giggled while waving at them.
"Hey, Owen. Think it's your niece." Archie told Owen.
"Yeah, Archie." Owen replied.
Kate turned around, visibly annoyed at what she saw. Owen indeed put Valentina down, causing her to run in the middle of the baby dinosaurs. A baby Gallimimus then stepped on the toddler's hoodie. Kate then saw the baby dinosaurs running to Valentina, licking her and almost drowning her. Kate rushed to her least favorite attraction and fired her M4A1 carbine seven times in the air, scattering the baby dinosaurs in the arena while the giggling Valentina was picked up by her uncle. Owen then ran to his daughter while Archie closed the gate to the ride to prevent baby dinosaurs from going after him.
"Thanks, Kate." Owen told his daughter.
But Kate exploded in anger, "Why the fuck did you do what you mustn't have done? Abigail told us not to put her in any fucking paddock! Not even that motherfucking petting zoo, which is a bad idea in itself!"
"Everyone was watching us, Kate. And while you were walking away, I managed to talk with a mother who advised me to let Valentina see the baby dinosaurs!" Owen clarified for his daughter.
Kate spat in a nearby trashbin and whispered some curses while walking to the Titanoboa Vivarium with her father behind. The exhibit ressembled an underground reptile zoo. Kate saw Preston trying to find a solution as to why the tourists he did get to visit the attraction immediately left. The tourists inside the exhibit attempted to get a glimpse on the Titanoboa, but to no avail and just walked off. Kate then saw her father litterally dragged by the arm by Valentina, who was overexcited to see what new animal would be there. Seeing how small the crowd was, Owen quickly deduced the attraction was not very popular.
"Hey, Kate. See how unpopular I am. If it goes on that way, I'll be forced to shut the exhibit down." Preston told Kate. "Oh, and sorry about your uncle and aunt."
"Don't be. As for your tourist issue, I think I got a solution." Kate said as she spotted some tourists going away.
Kate then began singing the US Marines' Hymn, disappointing Valentina who wanted to sing nurturing songs. But Kate didn't just sing. She also watched the undergrowth and saw the branches slightly shaking. Kate then kept singing while pointing her M4A1 carbine at the branches. Kate then whistled 'Yankee Doodle' after finishing the Marines' Hymn while pointing at the moving branches. The disappointed Valentina softly and barely audibly sung 'The Ants Go Marching One By One' but her older cousin's songs were much more effective at luring the Titanoboa out of it's hideout, since the head of the giant snake popped in Kate's gunsights. But the snake looked at Valentina instead.
"Uncle Owen, I made a new fwiend!" Valentina told her uncle.
Owen then picked up his niece while Kate sang 'Blood Upon The Risers' as the teen aimed her rifle at the giant prehistoric snake. Many people coming in the exhibit saw the scene and began to wonder what was happening. Kate, as an answer, began singing Bridigt Mendler's 'Hang In There Baby', causing the Titanoboa to stay put. Valentina wanted to sing more nurturing songs while Kate sang aloud 'The Army Goes Rolling Along' followed by 'The Red Poppies Of Monte Cassino' and Barry Sadler's 'Ballad Of The Green Berets'. Preston realized Kate's test worked and went to his desk, where he downloaded his playlist in the loudspeakers. Kate and her father then picked up Valentina before walking to their next stop.
Owen then brought his niece to the Gyrospheres. They had some fun time together while Owen drove the gyrosphere past the herbivores. Valentina smirked at the herbivores, which now didn't pay attention to the toddler. After their time in the Gyrosphere, they went alongside Kate at the Cretaceous Cruise. This ride was designed for tourists paddling into their own kayak down the river to meet the dinosaurs up close.
Owen was paddling the kayak while Valentina waved at the drinking dinosaurs. Even if the dinosaurs ignored the other tourists, they suddenly stopped drinking and started to follow Owen, his daughter and Valentina. As the giggling Valentina waved at the dinosaurs, Kate fired her rifle in the air under amused tourists' eyes. After the ride, a tired Owen carried Valentina home with Kate taking the lead. Once home, they ate their meal before washing up and going to sleep.
But Kate knew someone asked for their help for two new eggs. This person was Henry Wu, the Chief Geneticist of the park.
On the next morning, Kate, now dressed in an ex-Finnish Army combat jacket, a pair of ex-Dutch Army combat trousers and a pair of ex-New Zealand Army boots, went to the lab carrying her cousin. In the lab was the person who asked for Kate's help, Henry Wu. Speaking of him, he was overseeing two eggs with his staff 24/7. Even after checking the temperature, he needed somebody to take care of the two animals which were to hatch. Wu was about to go back to his office when he saw Kate coming in the lab. He also saw a little girl, whom he knew was Kate's four-year-old cousin, since workers told Wu about Kate's uncle and aunt's death.
"Right on time, as you always are." Wu commented.
Kate, knowing Wu was right, replied, "I have to be both myself and my late mom."
"I see. I think you will watch over your cousin for today." Wu correctly supposed.
Kate nodded before she went next to the chief scientist. The two of them then walked towards the two eggs, which still didn't hatch. Upon arriving at the incubator, Valentina giggled while Kate and Wu groaned. They saw a person, who was none other than Claire, accompanied by three high-class representatives. They saw Claire saying something to the three representatives.
"What the fuck do they want?" Kate sullenly asked.
Wu, knowing the representatives, annoyingly replied, "It's Hal Osterly, Jim Drucker and Erica Brand from Verizon. They want to see our latest addition. And the animals still haven't hatched yet. Stay in this room, I'll distract them."
Kate nodded affirmatively as she carried her cousin to a stool and sat the toddler here. Kate then saw Wu heading towards Claire and the sponsors before talking to them about nothing in particular. Then, Kate had an idea. The teenager carried the stool with her cousin on it, under the scientists' amused gaze, to the incubator. The teenager then put the stool down and stood up.
"Don't wowwy. They awe fwiends. They won't huwt you." Valentina said touching the eggs.
Kate then watched as the eggs began to shake and cracked, revealing two greyish dinosaurs. They were a strange mix of Carnotaurus, T-Rex and Utahraptor. One of them had yellow eyes while the other one had red eyes. As the first dinosaur, which was the bulkiest, walked out of the egg, it stumbled on the stomach before standing up. Kate caught the animal's neck and managed to help it up without getting bitten. But the second one, which was slimmer, still had the top part of the shell on it's head, like an oversized helmet. Just as Kate flicked the shell away, the small dinosaur bit the teenager's right index finger. But Kate pushed it inwards, forcing the hybrid to let go. Kate being a lefty, she washed and bandaged her injured finger while noticing the baby dinos were looking at Valentina instead.
Thinking quickly, Kate told a scientist behind her, "Call Dr. Wu. Now."
The scientist obliged and ran towards Wu, informing him the animals have hatched. Wu, Claire and the Verizon representatives rushed into the hatchery, where they saw Valentina giggle as she played with the baby dinosaurs. Kate then went towards them. Noticing Claire's angry face, Kate decided to speak first.
"Listen, guys. Wu told me he would distract you while I find a solution to his problem. Now it's been solved." Kate told.
Wu nodded, confirming he had the idea. Claire just sighed in defeat before going to Valentina and stroking the toddler's cheeks. Kate then knew they had to name the animals, like they usually did. Wu then went alongside Kate next to the hybrids.
"Let me introduce you the Indominus Rex. They will be bigger than the T-Rex." Claire informed.
Osterly then informed Claire, "You should name them. I remarked your staff always had a name for the animals."
The scientists agreed, as did Wu, Brand and Drucker. Kate already had her mind regarding the names of the animals. She then spoke up and said, "Well, since these two don't have a name yet, I decided to name the bulkier one Indiana, like the treasure hunter from the Indiana Jones films. As for the least bulky one, she'll be named Arya, since she bit my right index finger."
Kate then displayed her bandaged finger to the audience, thus letting them clearly understand why she chose such names. Suddenly, they heard Valentina crying. Turning around, Kate understood the little girl wanted to name the dinosaurs herself, thinking of Iris and Ivy. But Kate was the first to speak, so Wu, Claire and the sponsors decided to keep Kate's namesakes for the new dinosaurs.
"Right then. Valentina may take care of Indiana and Arya until they're grown enough to be put in their paddock." Claire informed.
Kate and Wu warmly smirked at Claire, knowing the operations manager did the right choice. Kate then began spending the rest of the day explaining how to combined animal welfare with human leisure in the park.
