Chapter four:

Misa stares at herself in the mirror in her hotel room. "So. What you are saying is that if I make the deal with you then I can see peoples names and when they die."

"Yes." Rem nods her head watching Misa who keeps staring at herself in the mirror. "It will float above their heads. However there is a catch. It will cost half of your remaining lifespan. Something that you can never bring back. So you will die sooner than you originally were supposed to. You also cannot see the lifespans of anyone who has a Death note. Including yourself."

Misa hums softly in thought at hearing this. She could use this ability to help and find Kira possibly. She would have to make a big sacrifice for them though. She wonders if cutting her lifespan in half is really worth it in order to be able to help capture possibly the biggest criminal ever known. She closes her eyes and she takes a breath. She could really get L's attention if she does this. She wants to be able to work with the Great L and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. She'll also become more valuable to Kira especially if he doesn't have the eyes. She could get closer to him than if she only possessed a Death note. "Okay." She opens her eyes then she turns to look to Rem. "Let's make the deal."

After it is all done…

Misa turns back to the mirror to see her name floating above her head and that her sight seems to have a red filter over it. "This is pretty cool." She mentions smiling to herself. She is now one step closer to finding Kira. She smiles to herself at the thought as she is also now more useful to the two that she wants to get close to.

Light turns as L approaches. "Is something wrong?"

"It is fine. Light I was wondering if you'd like to help out with something." L suggests causing Light to tilt his head to this so he continues on. "I am assuming you saw that Kira message from a second Kira."

Light nods his head in confirmation. "Well not all of it. It scared my sister so I changed the channel for her." He keeps his gaze locked with the raven haired man. "What about it?"

"I have a plan to bring this second Kira forward." L turns noticing some people were starting to come out as the weather is becoming nicer. He turns back to Light. "Walk with me." He takes the lead as the brunette follows after him away from where people were heading to the area that holds a park and field. "I was thinking of a plan that would need someone like you to help out with. You're smart and you're a perfect age where you can be somewhere with gaining less attention." He explains as he starts to lead Light towards a way out of the area where no one is. "A group of older adults will gain more attention. I am sure that they'll stand out more especially when looking for anyone that stands out. I will be adding a member of my group with you who can blend in with you easier. After we air a message back to the second Kira pretending to be the first Kira then hopefully we'll be able to lure at least the second Kira out to a location. Where you will meet some friends and hang around that area casually while also looking out for anything that might stand out."

"I'll do it." Light agrees to this hiding that he secretly is glad as he'll be able to find out who is the second Kira. Or so he hopes if the second Kira will indeed show up to that location. "I actually want to work in law enforcement like my dad. Solve crimes and help people." He also feels like this opportunity will also let him keep an eye on L better. He could even join those hunting Kira as a new member if he plays his cards right. Then he can know more information about how close they are to possibly catching him, or how much they know about Kira and the Kira case.

"That is very admirable." L nods his head and takes Light to where Watari is waiting with the car. "It is good to have you aboard." He gestures for Light to enter as Watari holds the door open. He follows in after Light is settled in the car and Watari closes the door after him before heading to the driver side to drive them to HQ.

They arrive and L takes Light to the room with the others where he explains his plan with them.

"And Matsuda. You will be joining Light at the location to help with keeping an eye out for anything. I believe you'll fit in with the group better than the others." L explains in which Matsuda blinks in surprise.

"I think so too." Soichiro adds in which everyone turns to him. "Matsuda has the youngest look to him. I don't doubt the others skills as I know you don't doubt them either." He adds in which L nods his head. "Though we really do need someone who is best for this role."

"I am fine with that." Light agrees to this. "I am glad that I'll be able to help you guys in this." He shares a smile with his father who pats him on the shoulder.

"Alright." L speaks again as everyone turns back to him when he does. "We will make a message in response to the second Kira. Presenting as the main Kira. We'll arrange a meeting spot then see if the second Kira ends up falling for it."

The others nod their heads liking the sound of the plan.

Misa walks along looking around herself as she walks along. She scans the names and numbers above peoples heads while not being obvious. She even turns to people who take her picture. She feels so much more powerful with these eyes and she hopes that she does happen to notice someone who doesn't have a lifespan visible. She pauses as a group excitedly approaches her talking over one another about how much they love her work. She also hears glimpses of what their favourite was in the work that she has done. "Oh thank you." She politely responds to them with a smile. She signs a few autographs until she is sure no one in the group wants any more. "I would stay to talk however I need to go." She heads off as the group lets her go though they watch her as she heads on her way. Her eyes continue to scan the people around her as she hopes that she'll be able to spot the one she is looking for. She knows well enough that it is a long shot that she is willing to take.

Rem remains hovering along behind Misa herself simply watching as the blonde-haired woman does her thing. She does wonder if the other really will be able to find the person that she wants to find.

Misa takes a turn to start to walk towards her hotel room deciding that maybe she should try another approach in another area. She wants to disguise herself though so that way she can witness things this time without bringing so much attention to herself. She manages to make it after a few more groups stop her before she gets there. She glances around making sure no one is currently looking then she heads into the hotel. She gets to her room and looks through her clothes for something to wear that she won't be recognized in.

"Are you sure we shouldn't just wait until Kira responds to your message?" Rem brings up causing Misa to pause upon hearing this. "I mean it could be easier than this."

"We could." Misa confirms before resuming what she had been doing. "Though I want to try to gain the upper hand. One that Kira won't see coming. If he does respond then he could gain the upper hand. I want to try to be one step ahead of him if possible. If this fails then I'll just come up with another plan for when he does respond. I will find a way to have the upper hand. I have to." She begins stripping off her usual clothes so that way she can change into her newly chosen outfit. "It is for the best that I have the upper hand against him. I don't want to walk into traps if I can avoid it. He could kill me if he doesn't see me as useful. He would have to do it with his own hands though we only know so much about this Kira. He could be very capable of taking me out with his bare hands. So I want to be as ready as I can be."

"Of course." Rem nods her head softly in understanding to this and turns away to look to the window where the blinds are closed. She is a bit thoughtful as Misa puts on her newly chosen clothes. She thinks about how Misa is using this opportunity to her advantage. She does feel like it doesn't really matter though because an owner of a Death note can do whatever they choose to do so with it. She also had known that Misa has wanted to try to hunt down Kira to help L when she let her get her hands on the Death note. She chose to let her decide how this is going to help her. She doesn't regret what she did. She turns back to Misa spotting the other moving.

Misa is now wearing a black pullover hoodie with the hood pulled over her head, skinny jeans, and black ankle high boots. "Come along Rem." She speaks to the Shinigami as she approaches the door to leave her room. "We have work to do."

Rem flies after Misa as they leave the hotel room once more.
