Chapter 4

November 1st 1981

Godrics Hollow,England

Albus Dumbledore silently examined the Potter children Harry and Micheal

"Biognois"He said, causing symbols to appear over the two childrens heads.

Behind him Lily and James Potter stood with their good friend Sirius Black.

Lord Voldermort had entered the Potter home and stunned the parents before going to find the children.

But the kids were still here and there was no sign of Voldermort.

And now the Potters wanted to know what was going on

"What the hell happened Albus?"Sirius asked, confused by the signs.

Dumbledore raised his hand finishing up the tests before turning back to the rest of the group.

Suddenly a Falcon shaped Patronus entered the room which Dumbledore recognized as being from Lawrence Ashcroft the Interm Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcment after the unfortunate death a few weeks ago of Reginald Spiers.

"Albus something is happening with the Death Eaters"It said "They're yelling about something going on with something about their Dark Marks and we are trying to figure out what is going on".

Dumbledore nodded.

"Micheal Potter is responsible for the death of Lord Voldermort"He said.

The three looked absolutely dumstruck and shocked before a chorus of voices and questions started to rise

Dumbledore raised his hand for silence and the they quited down as they waited to hear what the Headmaster was going to say.

"First"He said "I must insist on an Oath of Silence before I reveal this to you and a promise that you will not share this information with anyone else".

James,Lilly and Sirius looked conflicted as they considered his words before their interest won over and they swore their oaths.

"Slightly over a year ago i was interviewing a candidate for the position of Divination Professor"He said "And in the course of that meeting that candidate gave a True Prophecy".

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches in youth... born to those who have thrice defied him, and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives"

The Potter Parents paled at this.

"And you think this applies to our family?"Lily asked, her voice shaking.

Dumbledore nodded "The problem has been figuring out who the Prophecy referred to as after extensive research I have found that over a dozen familys have defied Voldermort three times or more".

"And we were on that list,"James said softly.

Dumbledore bowed his head "I am very sorry for not informing any of you"He said "I did not mean you harm but with over a dozen candidates if I had informed them all there would have been a greater chance of Voldermort hearing the full prophecy".

"Wait a minute, the full prophecy"Sirius said "How did he hear the prophecy and know to come after the kids in the first place".

"When i interviewed in Hogsmede because i wasnt thinking of it at the time as being important i did not take measures to protect against eavesdroppers"Dumbledore said embarassed.

James and Sirius looked incensed.

"Do you know who overheard it"James growled.

"I do not"Dumbledore shook his head "The individual was able to escape before i was able to get to him".

"So Voldermort believed that one of my sons was the Prophecy Child"Lilly asked.

"Yes"Dumbledore said nodding "It is my belief that Lord Voldermort came here to try and kill Micheal Potter but something happened leaving Voldermort gone and this on Micheals head"He said parting Micheal and Harrys hair to reveal a mark across Micheals forehead and the lack of one across Harrys.

"Is that the marking then"James asked.

"Yes"Dumbledore said "And my test also shows that young Micheal here has shown a massive surge in energy while Harry has shown a depletion".

"How did that happen"Sirus asked.

"I am not sure"Dumbledore admitted "There must have been an obscure bit of magic that managed to protect young Micheal while killing Voldermort and making Micheal Potter the "Boy who Lived".

"The Boy who Lived"Lilly paled.

Dumbledore nodded "That's what I envision will be known to the public at the very least and it will result in young Micheal becoming very popular to say the least.".

"What about Harry, you said his energy levels are low,"Sirius asked.

That was the hard part.

Dumbledore sighed

"First of all the thing to realize is that in the future with Micheal becoming a public figure for his defeat of Voldermort he will become quite famous and we dont want Harry to become jealous of his brother's fame".

"What are you saying?"James asked.

"I think that Harry should be sent to another home and was thinking of your sister Lilly there so he can grow up in peace and obscurity".

There were a few brief seconds of silence before the Potter parents and Sirius started to argue.

Dumbledore sighed.

He hated to have to do this but it was necessary.

Raising his hand Dumbledore swept his hand around the room causing the other adults in the room to become stiff.

He did not want to have to use spells he had learnt from his old friend Gellert Grindlewald but it was necessary.

This was a sort of mass paralysis spell that made people more susceptible to following commands.

"You will not remember being paralyized"He said "And you will agree to send Harry Potter to live at the home of Petunia and Vernon Dursley while Micheal Potter receives special training to deal with being the "Boy-Who-Lived and convince others that know of Harry that you made the right decision for both boys interest and for the Greater Good".

Dumbledore then waved his wand and the three adults came out of their paralysis state.

"So as i was saying i have worked out a bunch of charms and wards to put around the Dursley Residence"He said which was not a lie "But the more the merrier after all Sirius doesnt the Black House have a lot of protective spells".

Sirius just nodded.

Dumbledore was happy to see that the Potters and Sirius were now not saying anything or objecting to Harry being sent to live with Petunia.

He hated that the two siblings needed to be separated but it was essential.

Micheal Potter was the "Boy who lived"and he had to be prepared for the future.

Voldermort was not dead.

Dumbledore knew Lord Voldermort and knew that the Dark Lord was not dumb.

Voldermort knew the nature of warfare and knew there was a chance of him falling in battle at some point.

He had no doubt that Voldermort thus had contingency plans in place for this sort of scenario.

So even though the First Wizarding War was now over Dumbledore had no doubt that one day there would be a Second Wizarding War.

And Micheal Potter would play a crucial part in that as determined by fate.

Harry would go to a house where he would be protected against the Dark Forces and Lily and James Potter could then spend their time fully devoted to helping to train Micheal.

And thankfully although looking a bit nervous Sirius was not saying anything.

Dumbledore did intend to layer protections on the Dursleys Home though.

Everyone that he knew to make sure that Harry James Potter was as safe as possible growing up.

SCENE BREAK

Albus Dumbledore silently walked along the street of Privet Drive with a four year old Harry Potter in tow.

It had actually been even harder to get Harry to come along to the Dursleys.

For only being four years old he was actually remarkably smart and Dumbledore did not feel as easy about using compulsion spells on a toddler.

Eventually the Potter Parents were able to convince Harry to go with Dumbledore to the Dursleys.

And sadly it had to be with only Dumbledore.

He was casting powerful protection spells that would keep Harry safe from outside threats but also would prevent any magical individual who was not the caster of the spells from entering the property.

Which while not intentional was in the grand scheme of things for the better.

In the short time since Lord Voldermorts defeat and mysterious disaperrance pandemonium had erupted across Magical Britiain.

Between the celebrations at the end of the war and the work in rounding up the Death Eaters much public afection had been shown for Micheal Potter "The Boy Who Lived".

Not much had been released about what had transpired in Godrics Hollow on October 31st 1981 other than Micheal Potter had survived the Killing Curse sent by Voldermort destroying the Dark Lord.

And that was enough information to start a little cult following of the baby.

How sad.

The fame would not be good for Micheal as he grew older

Maybe it would be a good idea to homeschool the Boy who Lived.

After all the number one priority was making sure Micheal was ready to face the Dark Lord later on..

Anyhow walking along the street Dumbledore and Harry got to Number 4 Privet Drive where after reminding Harry to let him do the talking Dumbledore knocked on the door,

After a few minutes of waiting a woman appeared at the entrance to the door.

"You"She said "What on earth are you doing here".

"Hello Petunia,"Dumbledore said, making eye contact with her so he could use Legillamancy to help direct her to the right decision.

"You remember your nephew Harry dont you"Dumbledore asked.

Petunia nodded.

"Something has happened in our world where Lily and James are no longer able to take care of young Harry here and i was wondering if you would be willing to help a sister out by taking in Harry and be compensated with a fair bit of money in return ".

Petunia blinked twice.

"Excuse me"She said "What happened that made Lily unable to take care of her own"Pentunia asked.

:"I am afraid that i can not say Petunia"Dumbledore said "But this is to ensure that Harry is not a target from bad people in our world".

Petunia stiffinded.

"That Voldermort fellow I remember Lilly talking about a couple of years ago"She asked.

Dumbledore nodded.

Petunia paled "So why isint Lily here to explain this in person"She asked.

"Because"Dumbledore said "Voldermort has been defeated but his followers are still out there and thus i will be putting all the protections available to wizarding kind around your place to make sure no evil comes to your or your family ".

Petunia nodded.

"So will you take in your nephew please Petunia ''Dumbledore asked referring to Harry and using all of his mental persuasion abilitys to get Mrs Dursley to say yes.

Petunia took a few seconds to comptiplate it "I suppose with Vernon out at work so much and with Dudley still a baby it would be nice to have some help around the home every once in a while".

After another second "How much money are we talking about here and for how long?"She asked.

"Oh I would say about five thousand pounds or so how does that sound and he would only be living with you year round until he starts attending Hogwarts at age 11 and then you would only see him over the summers "Dumbledore suggested .

Petunias' eyes shone brightly.

That was good money for taking her nephew in.

She nodded.

"Sure it would be just fine to take in Harry"Petunia said "But you had better not forget about the protections and the money".

"I won't Petunia"Dumbledore promised "Now i will leave and finish casting the spells for your protection and then i will leave".

Dumbledore then turned to Harry and patted the young boy on the back before watching as Petunia ushered Harry inside.

Quickly turning around Dumbledore then finished up his charms before apparating away
