Gabriel Agreste was looking at a recent online news article over breakfast with his son. It had been the talk of all of Paris for the last day.

Hawk Moth's unnamed teenage civilian accomplice.

Because of her age the police couldn't release any information on her and the court trial was closed to the public. The only thing that was known about the situation was the headline. That absolutely didn't stop the media circus going around the situation. Some people said it was ridiculous that this teenager was being put on trial at all considering Hawk Moth's well known powers— some people said if they were being tried then there must be some absolutely damning evidence that they were more than willing.

Either way, it didn't matter to him. Found guilty or not. Lila Rossi was out of his son's life permanently, and he got revenge on her, without doing anything at all.

"I assume you know what happened to my classmate already." Adrien said, and didn't ask how he knew.

Gabriel looked up.

"It was quite the surprise." He answered. "To think that girl was your friend and had been in our home many times is disconcerning."

His son looked at him for a few seconds longer than was comfortable— there was some indecipherable emotion written on his face, in the line of his mouth and press of his eyebrows. The butterfly miraculous did nothing to help him figure out what he was thinking.

"Do you have something to say to me?" Gabriel asked.

"No father."

But he knew that very much wasn't true.

"If you have something to say to me, it's best to speak your mind."

"Is anything about this situation off to you?"

Adrien was far more perceptive than he thought.

"What do you mean?"

"Like it feels… like maybe Hawk Moth wanted this. I think he told me he was working with someone else on purpose. I think he knew I was listening in at that photoshoot. He wanted me to see the butterfly leave her."

"Have you told Ladybug or Chat Noir about this?"

"No." He immediately answered and looked away. Then he paused. "It doesn't change that she did work with him. I just wonder why he just didn't just stop the alliance if he didn't want it anymore, but he got her caught. I wonder why he decided he didn't want it anymore to begin with."

There didn't seem to be any maybes in his wondering. He sounded like he was completely sure Hawk Moth wanted to get Rossi caught.

Adrien sent him a sidelong look.

He was blissfully unaware he was the answer to that question. The mystery was looking back at him, the room filled with butterflies was above their heads and a flowered garden beneath their feet.

"I know as much as you do, or perhaps even less." He lied.

"I guess no one will ever really know what happened— besides Hawk Moth that is." Adrien stated. "Working with a supervillain must be a dangerous thing, I'm not sure if she really understood that."

Lila Rossi had been exceptional in the short time of their alliance. Being an empath he knew she liked causing people harm when they wronged her, had an unmovable grudge towards one of Paris's heroes. But she overstepped an invisible line— bit off far more than she could chew. Thought she had more power than she actually did. Failed to see the world didn't revolve around her. Made the mistake of threatening to kill Hawk Moth's child to the man himself without even knowing it.

Gabriel looked down to the article on his tablet. The comments were filled with people arguing back and forth about a situation and circumstances they knew no details of.

"Indeed it is." He responded, and closed the page.
